Our rescue is active in Maryland, Northern Virginia, D.C.,  and south central Pennsylvania.  We are a group of volunteers, dedicated to rescuing and placing German Shepherds in good homes.

Section 2: Adoption Information

  1. Where do your dogs come from? I’m worried about adopting a dog when I don’t know his past.
  2. Why do owners surrender a dog? I’m not sure I want a dog that someone else has already rejected.
  3. Okay, I’m ready to adopt! Now what?
  4. What happens during a home visit?
  5. From the time I send in my application, how long do I have to wait before I hear the clickety-clack of little toenails in my house?
  6. Do you charge for adoptions? What if I can’t afford it?
  7. I saw a dog I LOVE on the web site. Can you hold her for me while I submit my application?
  8. I like GSDs, but I really love some of the GSD mixes. Do you ever have any dogs that aren’t purebred?

Section 3: Once You Have a Dog...

  2. What happens if the adoption doesn’t work out?
  3. Why do you require me to take my dog to training class?
  4. I’ve trained dogs before, so is it okay if I just train at home?

Section 4: Surrendering

  1. I have a dog I want to surrender. What should I do?
  2. Is there a fee to surrender my dog?
  3. My dog got loose and bit my neighbor. He’s demanding that I find a new home for the dog or put him to sleep. Will you take him?
  4. You’ve agreed to take my 8 year old GSD, but I’ve heard that some rescues euthanize dogs they have trouble placing.
  5. I love my dog and I’m just sick about giving him up. Is there anyway I could get some follow-up on him?
  6. If I sign your surrender papers, then I don’t have to move or my brother can take the dog after all, do I HAVE to give her to MAGSR?

  1. Are my donations tax deductible?
  2. What percentage of my donation goes directly to helping the dogs?
  3. I can’t adopt or foster right now, but I want to help. What can I do?
