A good samaritan found little miss Myna wandering alone in a busy city. Knowing that this little girl needed a safe refuge, she was brought to a shelter where she waited for someone to come and claim her. When no one came for little Myna, MAGSR stepped in to help her find a loving forever home. Myna is a sweetheart who can be a little shy with new people. When given time to warm up her personality shines. As is true of all puppies, Myna will benefit from socialization and training. Teddy and his brother, Milton, are siblings from different litters. They were living with their parents and a few other dogs on a breeder's property. When the owner could no longer keep the dogs safe, they were surrendered to another rescue. Recognizing that both boys would likely have their best shot at finding their forever home in another region, Teddy and Milton were transferred to MAGSR. 

Teddy is a young and friendly guy. Having grown up with dogs of a variety of ages, he enjoys the company of other dogs. Teddy is playful and interactive. According to his owner, Teddy has grown up with children and did well with them. Although we know that Teddy had an owner, we are not sure if he was kept as an inside dog or an outside dog. We do know that he did not have any vetting prior to his arrival at MAGSR. Unfortunately, Teddy is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Teddy has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. Neko is a playful young pup who recently joined the MAGSR family. Having lived in a loving foster family prior to his arrival at MAGSR, Neko has had the opportunity to begin learning the ins and outs of living in a household. Although Neko was cherished in his foster home, his foster family could no longer care for him due to a change in circumstances. When a plea came out for another rescue to step in, MAGSR answered the call.

Neko is in many ways still a puppy at 10-12 months and like any puppy he has endless energy and curiosity. Adventurous and confident, Neko is a fan of new people and dogs. He is known to greet both with play bows and tail wags. Having lived with children in his previous placement, Neko enjoys interacting with people of all ages. As is true of all dogs from puppies to seniors, Neko will benefit from training. This will help him not only bond with his new family but it will help him develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to become. Although Neko is a young and overall healthy guy, he has been living in a region where mosquitoes carrying heartworms are prevalent. Kota and her best buddy, Birch, were found wandering around in the south. Although the two dogs were wearing identification, when animal control contacted their family, they were told that the dogs were no longer wanted. As this friendly pair deserves to be loved and cared for in their golden years, our friends at animal control called and asked if we could welcome this pair into the MAGSR family. 

Kota and Birch are a bonded pair and rely on one another for safety and comfort. Although they were tossed aside by their former family, they remain sweet and loving dogs. Currently residing with a fantastic foster family, Kota and Birch are moving forward with the comfort of soft beds, good food, and the attention they deserve. Although we are still getting to know this lovely pair, it does appear that they have previously lived in a household and do know some of the general household expectations. Handsome Dakar was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter in the south. As is true of many GSDs, Dakar struggled at the shelter. However, once volunteers who are comfortable with the breed started working with him, they quickly discovered that this sweet guy had a lot of potential. Recognizing that Dakar would have his best chance at finding his forever home outside the shelter, a plea went out for rescue help. MAGSR answered that call. 

Dakar is a playful and curious boy. He enjoys the company of other stable dogs and has greatly enjoyed his time in play group. Although Dakar was a stray, he takes treats gently and walks well on leash. He has quickly begun picking up some basic commands and loves to work for treats. Dakar can be a little timid with new people. However, when given the chance to warm up, he is friendly and playful. He gives kisses and tail wags and seems to enjoy the company of kids. Dakar will do well with a family that will go slow and give him time to adjust. When provided with structure, routine, and leadership, Dakar will have the opportunity to develop into a good canine citizen. Indie's family loved him dearly. Unfortunately, they fell on hard times and were no longer able to care for him. Knowing he deserved a forever family that could meet all of his needs, Indie's family surrendered him to shelter hoping he would find a loving home. Cloud and his sister Kat were surrendered to a shelter when their owner could no longer keep them safe. With extreme cases of overcrowding in shelters in the south right now due to the unprecedented weather they are experiencing, shelters are pleading for rescues to help move dogs to safety. When asked to help Cloud and Kat move forward, we immediately welcomed them into the MAGSR family. 

Cloud, like his sister Kat, is social and friendly. It is highly evident that his family loved him and worked hard to keep him socialized. His wiggly personality quickly wins over the hearts of everyone around him. Although we know that Cloud had a family, we do know know if he was kept as an inside or an outside dog. Lizzo is a survivor. After using her for puppies, Lizzo's owner decided that owning her wasn't advantageous anymore. As a result, he gave her away to  someone in the community who left her outside to roam. Without proper care, housing, or food, Lizzo began wandering about the community. Although it was unsafe, Lizzo started regularly running through town to return to her previous residence where a furry friend still resided. Fortunately, a good Samaritan became aware of Lizzo's suffering and was able to arrange for Lizzo to be released to a local rescue in the south. Recognizing that Lizzo would have her best chance at finding the forever home in another region, she was transferred to MAGSR. Although we are still getting to know Lizzo, it is clear that even with all the suffering she has endured that she is an incredible dog. Alpine is one of the Nature puppies. She and her siblings - Yellowstone, Rocky, and Aravalli are little survivors. They were transferred from another rescue into our care. Fortunately, the Nature puppies were in good hands and able to fight. Many members of this litter survived.

Unfortunately, three of Kappa's litter mates were unable to overcome this hoffiying disease.

Sienna was found as a stray in a busy city and sadly no one came to claim her, She is young and playful and did well with other dogs. Karl was a stray who was picked up and brought to a shelter. Upon arrival it was evident to the shelter staff that Karl was a special guy. He easily won the hearts of shelter staff. Although playful and affectionate, Karl struggled with anxiety in the shelter environment. This is very common for German Shepherds and many other guardian breeds. Recognizing that Karl needed his best chance and finding his forever home, the shelter contacted MAGSR and the rest is history. 

Karl is a handsome guy. He interacts well with dogs and other people. However, he does need slow introductions to new people and situations. Karl's forever family will need to follow a two to three week shut down when he joins their family. This will provide Karl with the opportunity to slowly adjust to his new home. Patience and structure will help Karl learn household routines and settle in more effectively. Snowflake's family loved her dearly. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, they could no longer care for her. Although surrendering her was a difficult decision, they knew this gave Snowflake her best chance. We promised Snowflake's family that we would find her the perfect forever home.

Raina is your typical young, energetic shepherd. In many ways she embodies the characteristics of most shepherds - curious, eager, and loyal. Raina has lived with a cat and interacted with small dogs prior to her arrival at MAGSR. She is very playful which could be a little much for the cat in her household. Affectionate and sweet, Raina has done well when meeting new people but can become a little too exuberant and get jumpy. Both crate trained and housebroken, Raina understands many of the household rules; however, as is true of any new dog, she will need time to adjust to the routines of a new household. Sweet Gator has been passed from household to household throughout his young life. In his most recent household, the owners had stopped providing him with the basics of food, water, or vetting. Instead, he was left chained outside with very little shelter. When another rescue stepped in to help Gator, they were impressed that this boy was still so sweet even with everything he had endured. 

Gator is still a young guy who will thrive with leadership and consistency. He has not had the opportunity to socialize with people and dogs as much as would have been expected at his age. However, he remains friendly. Gator will do best in a household where his new family can go slowly and provide him with the structure and routine that all GSDs crave. Gator has been living with other dogs since his removal from his last owner and done well. He seems to like the presence of another stable dog. As he moves forward, Gator will benefit greatly from training as it will help him bond to his new family as well as become a good canine citizen. Mr. Jack and his housemate, Miss Jackie, were used for puppies. Their lives have been filled with little care, comfort, or kindness. Although we knew that both dogs would need some additional love and attention, we also knew they deserved kindness and compassion. Mr. Jack was shown very little warmth or gentleness prior to his arrival. He was fearful of people as he was unsure of their intentions. Fortunately, with the care and attention of a loving foster home, Mr. Jack has begun to blossom. He seeks out the attention of his foster family and has taken on the role of velcro dog in the household. It is simply amazing what a difference kindness makes even after years of suffering. Although Mr. Jack is an incredible guy, we have learned that he is heartworm positive.
