Winter's family fell on hard times and could no longer provide her with the basic food and shelter she needed. As a result, they made the decision to turn her into a shelter with the hope that she would find a new home. Although done with the best intentions, Winter was overlooked and in an overcrowded shelter this meant she was living on borrowed time. When shelter staff realized she needed out, they contacted MAGSR. We immediately welcomed Winter into rescue. 

Winter is a sweetheart; however, she can be timid around new people. Once she warms up, Winter is your typical, young GSD. Good with other dogs, Winter participated in playgroup regularly at the shelter. Although Winter is honey who is ready to find her forever home, we have learned that she is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if she had been  provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Winter has already begun her heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Winter's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Winter is clearly more than worth the cost. Please consider donating  toward Winter's treatment. Mr. Jack and his housemate, Miss Jackie, were used for puppies. Their lives have been filled with little care, comfort, or kindness. When their owner decided that it was time for them to move on, their future options were very limited. Fortunately, another rescue heard about their situation and reached out to MAGSR for help. 

Although we knew that both dogs would need some additional love and attention, we also knew they deserved kindness and compassion. Mr. Jack was shown very little warmth or gentleness prior to his arrival. He was fearful of people as he was unsure of their intentions. Fortunately, with the care and attention of a loving foster home, Mr. Jack has begun to blossom. He seeks out the attention of his foster family and has taken on the role of velcro dog in the household. It is simply amazing what a difference kindness makes even after years of suffering. Although Mr. Jack is an incredible guy, we have learned that he is heartworm positive. David and Goliath were abandoned. These handsome guys needed help and fast. Fortunately, a good samaritan found them and got them to another rescue. Recognizing that the boys would have their best chance in a different region, they were transferred into the MAGSR family. Gypsy's family loved her dearly; however, due to circumstances beyond their control they needed to find her a new home. Although this was a very difficult decision, they wanted to do what was best for Gypsy. As a result, they reached out to MAGSR to help Gypsy find the perfect forever home.

Gypsy is a young and intelligent girl. Like most shepherds, she needs a little time to warm up to people outside of her family; however, when provided with the opportunity to adjust, Gypsy will begin to interact with new people. As is also true of most shepherds, Gypsy thrives with leadership and a confident handler. Having lived in a household, Gypsy is housebroken and understands many of the basic rules of living in a home. As an active girl, Gypsy will benefit from daily exercise of both her mind and body. Casper was found as a stray in a big, busy city. Fortunately, he was brought to a shelter where he waited for his family to claim him. When no one came to claim this big guy, staff members sent out a plea asking for rescues to step up and help Casper find the loving forever home he deserves. 

Casper is a big friendly guy. He hasn't yet to meet an adult or a child that he hasn't liked. As a young dog, Casper has a lot of energy and would be happy to play for hours every day. He is a particularly big fan of the ball. As is true of all GSDs, Casper will thrive in a household where he has guidance, leadership and consistency. Gisela's family loved her dearly. However, due to an unexpected change in circumstances, they were no longer able to care for her. Recognizing that it was in Gisela's best interest to find her a new home, they surrendered her to MAGSR. We promised we would find Gisela a loving forever home.

Gisela is a friendly and playful girl. She is a huge fan of the ball and could play for hours if given the opportunity. As is true of many dogs, Gisela will out the ball but prefers to switch with you instead. In addition to being toy motivated, Gisela is also treat motivated; this will make training a joy. Sweet Linus has been passed around a few times over his short line. His most recent household decided they no longer wanted him and the easiest solution was to end his life. Fortunately, another rescue found out about Linus' fate and was able to save him before it was too late. Recognizing they could not provide Linus with the options he deserved, he was transferred to MAGSR to find a loving forever home.

Although Linus has lacked the love and kindness he deserved prior to his rescue placement, he has remained a sweet and affectionate boy. Linus enjoys the company of people and is a big fan of kids. He is already a big guy and he will continue to grow over the next several months. Linus will do well in a household where he is provided with the patience, guidance, and leadership that all shepherds crave. Sweet Finn was pick-up as a stray and brought to another rescue. They took care of this sweet guy while waiting to see if his owner would claim him. Unfortunately, no one came for Finn. Recognizing that Finn would have his best chance at finding a forever home in a different region, the rescue transferred Finn to MAGSR. Finn is a sweet but timid guy. He will need guidance and leadership in order to help him build confidence with new places and people. Sweet Olaf was confiscated from his family as they were not properly caring for him. He waited patiently at a shelter till he could be released to a rescue for placement. When that day came, we were all too happy to welcome this friendly guy to the MAGSR family. 

Olaf is an affectionate and playful guy. He is social and enjoys the company of other dogs. As a lover of warm hugs, Olaf believes that everyone wants to be his buddy. Only about a year old, Olaf still has a lot to learn about becoming a good canine citizen. However, with training, patience, and leadership, we are sure he will succeed. Rogue was surrendered to a shelter when his family realized the demands of a guardian breed. As a working line, energetic pup, Rogue is best suited for a household that will provide him with structure and leadership. Both toy and treat motivated, Rogue is a fast learner and is picking up commands quickly. He will be an absolute joy to train with as he is driven, motivated and intelligent. Already very accustomed to playing with toys, Rogue is always ready to play.

Crowley's family made the difficult decision to return him to MAGSR, when Crowley was unable to adjust to living with the resident cats. As he moves forward, Crowley would do best in a home without small animals as his prey drive is simply too strong for them. 

Crowley is your typical intelligent, playful, protective, energetic young shepherd. He is a busy guy who will do best in a home where both his mind and body are exercised regularly. Both housebroken and crate trained, Crowley understands the general rules of the household; however, all young dogs will try something from time to time. Having had the benefit of some training, Crowley knows basic commands such as, sit, down, drop it, leave it, and release. Although Crowley has already begun some training, it is essential that this continue as it will help him bond with his new family. Fluffy Thorson and his little family found themselves alone and in need on the streets of a big city. Fortunately, a good samaritan found the little family, and got them to safety. When no one came to claim this little family, MAGSR stepped in to help them all find safe and loving homes. 

Thorson is a playful and social guy. He, just like his brother, is a big fan of cuddles. While on the streets, Thorson incurred an injury and has resulted in paraphimosis. He will need additional monitoring and a surgery or two in order to heal properly. Multiple surgeries will be expensive, but we know that Thorson is more than worth the cost. Sweet Adley was picked up as a stray by animal control and brought to a shelter where she waited for someone to claim her. When no one came, an animal control officer contacted MAGSR to see if we could help this lovely lady find a home that would provide her with the love, attention, and safety that she so clearly deserves. Adley is a beautiful girl who could use a little extra care as she was clearly used for breeding, it is evident that Adley has endured some hardship. However, she is ready to move forward with a family who will love her and provide her with the guidance and leadership that all shepherds crave. Adley will do best with an experienced GSD household that will take a leadership role with her. She is a young dog that is a very active and strong-minded girl that will benefit from training as it will help her bond with her new family, as well as, become a good canine citizen. Sweet Rayleigh and her brother Ryker were surrendered to MAGSR when their owner could not afford to care for them. Both pups were in need of some extra TLC when they arrived; however, our incredible network of volunteers was able to get them everything they needed. They are cuddly and playful pups who bring smiles and laughter wherever they go.

Klaus is a handsome and friendly guy who has survived years of neglect and abuse. Fortunately, another rescue was able to intervene and bring Klaus into their care. This life changing event made all the difference for this energetic guy. Recognizing that Klaus would have his best chance at finding the forever home in another region, Klaus was transferred to MAGSR. Although we are still getting to know Klaus, it is clear that even with all the suffering he has endured that he is a good dog. As is true of any dog, Klaus will thrive in a stable household that will provide him with love, guidance, consistency and leadership. Goofy and his siblings - Goose, Grace, and Ginger - were confiscated from a puppy mill operation. They are all emaciated and in need of positive interaction. The shelter that confiscated this little family knew that these dogs would need extra support in order to find their forever homes. When MAGSR got the call to take them in, we started putting plans in place to meet their needs.

Although they have survived a horrible situation, Goofy and his siblings are very loveable dogs. Definitely a little skittish, these dogs will excel with patience, leadership, and positive experiences. Goofy is a friendly guy who appreciates gentle but confident handling. He leans in for affection and has easily won over the hearts of our volunteers. We look forward to getting to know Goofy over the next few weeks. Loki's family loved him dearly; however, due to some unforeseen circumstances, they found themselves unable to provide him with the attention and care he deserves. As a result, Loki's family made the difficult decision to surrender him to MAGSR. We have promised Loki's family that we will find him a safe and loving household. 

Loki is a young and energetic shepherd. Friendly and still puppy-like, he is learning to look to the handler for direction. As is common with most shepherds, Loki thrives with structure and leadership. A household that can provide him with routine and direction will help him gain confidence and develop into a stable adult. Loki will benefit greatly from training; this will not only help him bond to his forever family but it will also help him become a good canine citizen.
