Lovely Natalie and her siblings- Nathan, Nadia, Nancy, and Nellie, were dropped off at a shelter when their owner could not afford their care. This cute little family needed rescue immediately as a shelter is not a safe place for puppies. When MAGSR heard the shelter's plea, we stepped up to help these adorable babies find their forever homes.   

Although Natalie is an absolute joy, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Natalie will develop into the good canine citizen she is destined to become. 

Gunter is a survivor. Owned by a hoarder in the south and used for breeding purposes, Gunter's life had been filled with pain and suffering. However, when another rescue stepped up and removed Gunter and several other dogs from the premises, Gunter's life changed forever. Recognizing that Gunter would have his best chance at finding the forever home in the north, he was transferred to MAGSR. Although we are still getting to know Gunter, it is clear that even with all of the suffering that he has endured, he is a friendly guy. Gunter seems to know that the past is behind him and he is more than ready to move forward. Gunter brings joy to everyone around him with his goofy antics. Although Gunter is clearly an amazing dog, he, like all other dogs, will meet with success when provided with structure and leadership. Training will help him further develop his confidence as well as bond with his new family.

Although Gunter is clearly an incredible guy, we have unfortunately learned that he is light heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if his caretakers had kept him on monthly heartworm preventatives. Gunter has begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Gunter's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Gunter is definitely worth the cost. Please donate toward Gunter's treatment, your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Gunter will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. Sheena is a survivor. This special and incredibly sweet girl was used for years as a breeding dog. It was evident when rescuers came in to get her that this lovely lady had endured great pain and hardship. Emaciated and chained outside, Sheena was simply being used for puppy production. 

Although Sheena is a victim of cruelty and neglect, this lovely lady has the sweetest disposition. She is an incredible companion and has been friendly with everyone she has met. Our volunteers are simply in awe of her strength and resilience. Now that Sheena has joined the MAGSR family, she is experiencing kindness and love. Sheena is learning the rules of a household, basic commands, and the joy of a comfortable bed. At this time, Sheena is waiting patiently for a forever home that will provide her with the care and kindness she deserves. Sweet Han was a stray to shelter. Looking at his current condition, it is evident that Han has endured a lot over his short life. When no one came to claim Han, MAGSR stepped up to help this guy find a home that will commit to him for a lifetime.

Although Han has been through a lot, his hardship and suffering are over. As a member of the MAGSR family, Han will receive the food, medical care, and comforts the he deserves. Han is a friendly guy even though he has clearly suffered. Once comfortable, he gives soft kisses and big tail wags to his people. An expert in the car, Han rides well and settles down nicely. He does appear to already have started some crate training and will likely pick up other household skills quickly. *Update* Tasha’s fosters are thrilled that this precious girl is heartworm free!  She is looking for a forever home where she can enjoy company most of the day with hugs and head-to-head snuggling.  She’s a low to moderate energy GSD and is gentle in all ways.  While she has not shown much interest in other dogs, her fosters continue to work on her socialization skills.   She enjoys walks that give her opportunities to sniff and stroll and is not affected at all by other passing dogs.   Training also continues as we all work together on basic commands.

Tasha is a survivor. After being horribly neglected, she was dumped at a vet with her two pups where the entire family was to be euthanized. Fortunately, another rescue learned of this little family's plight and was able to save them in time. Tasha's puppies were able to find families quickly. However, Tasha needed some additional care as her body had endured significant neglect. 

With the help of another rescue, Tasha was nursed back to health. She received the medical care and kindness that this beautiful girl so clearly deserved. Although Tasha has experienced cruelty at the hands of people, she remains loving and attentive. She enjoys the comforts of a soft bed and head rubs. Dave and his buddy, Dana, were found running loose in a rural area. The dogs were brought to a shelter where they waited to be claimed. Cute little Jason is one of Sheena's puppies. Just like his amazing mom, Jason is a survivor. Samme was a beloved member of her family. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen changes, they could no longer take care of her. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender her to MAGSR.

Samme is a stunning girl and catches the attention of everyone around her. As it true of many owner surrenders, Samme was very scared when she first joined the MAGSR family. So many changes can be confusing and upsetting. However, with the help and support of her incredible foster family, Samme is slowly gaining confidence. Very dedicated to her people, Samme is good about protecting her house and will alert if there are odd sounds in the area. Samme enjoys toys but will need toys meant for strong dogs as she does think that tearing them apart is a good time. A big fan of car rides, Samme is excited to go on adventures and does settle nicely in the car. Although Samme arrived with some basic training started, continued training is a must so that Samme can develop a bond with her new family as well as further develop her overall confidence.

Stanley and his sister Daisy found themselves in a shelter when their mom unexpectedly passed away. Stanley is an overall easy going guy; however, he needs a little time to adjust to new people as he has endured so many changes recently. Once comfortable, Stanley enjoys walks, treats, and the ever important butt rubs. 

Although it is hard to tell right now, Stanley is a long-haired shepherd. Unfortunately, he was so matted when he first arrived that he had to be shaved. His lovely long fur is beginning to grow back; however, It will be very important that his new family take the time to regularly brush Stanley, so that he doesn't find himself in this situation again. Having previously lived in a home, Stanley likely already understands many of the ins and outs of being a member of a family. Daisy and her brother Stanley found themselves in a shelter when their mom unexpectedly passed away. Daisy is quite unsure of herself and all the changes she has faced. After a rough start to life and difficult circumstances in another state, Rusty found his way to MAGSR six years ago. This lucky guy found a loving home with all adults quickly, but due to circumstances beyond their control, his family made the extremely difficult decision to return him to MAGSR  as they knew that we would find the home and love he deserves. Rusty is an incredible guy. This big guy has energy and intelligence to spare. As a result, he will do best in a home that can exercise both his body and his mind daily. He knows several commands and with good leadership follows through nicely. A toy guy, Rusty enjoys playing with plush toys and can be found carrying them about the house. He’s not much of a ball guy; however if given the opportunity, he will catch the ball a couple times and run around with it. 

Rusty has learned to be a gentleman in the house; he understands what is not his and doesn't get on the furniture. He also doesn’t shed much! Already crate trained, Rusty finds comfort in his crate and can often be found sleeping in his crate at night.  While not a “Velcro” dog, Rusty can usually be found in a strategic location where he can keep track of his people. Not an enthusiastic licker, when you get a kiss or affection from Rusty, you know he thinks you’re really special. Rusty has lived with an indoor-only cat for six years. In that time he has learned to leave her alone the large majority of the time. Momma Bear and her babies, Ash, Autumn, Pumpkin, and Scarlet, were dumped at a shelter. As a shelter is no place for a momma and her pups, calls went out to various rescues to help this family find the safety and comfort of forever homes. As MAGSR has a policy of never leaving families behind, we stepped in and welcomed the entire family into our care until they all find the loving forever homes they so clearly deserve. 

In some ways Momma Bear is still a baby herself. She is very young and still has so much to learn about the comforts of living in a home with a family of her own. Although Momma Bear has done a wonderful job raising her pups, it is her turn to be cared for. Unfortunately, Momma Bear has tested heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if she had kept her on monthly heartworm preventatives. Momma Bear is in the beginning stages of her heartworm treatment; however, the cost of her entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Momma Bear is certainly worth the cost. Donations toward her treatment would be greatly appreciated as this would help us save her and other families with medical needs. Although Momma Bear will need to take it slow over the next few months, she will be back to full strength once her treatment is finished.
