Description

Tango was surrendered as his family could no longer provide him with the life he deserves.  He is a very handsome, good natured, friendly boy.  He loves other dogs both big and small, he just wants to be everyone's friend. He adores children - very gentle and just snuggles in.  He has had no issues meeting new people both women and men, big or small.  He does great riding in the vehicle.  He has not been around cats, so we have no idea how he is with them.  He enjoys playing in water, be it from a hose, pool or body of water.

Updates

Tango is doing very well in his foster home. His foster reported that he was painful in his hind end, and so Tango is currently on a medical hold until he can be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. Check back on Tango's profile for more information on his status as information comes available.

,

Tango had his orthopedic consult and while he does have hip dysplasia, surgery is not recommended at this time.  He has loss of muscle in his hind end, and the surgeon feels his muscles can be built back up with various exercises, and this will greatly help his mobility and quality of life in the future.  He also needs to lose another 15 lbs, to come in around ~80 lbs, so on the leaner side, as all GSDs should be.  If you are interested in Tango, please ask to meet him!

,

Since Tango’s appointment with the surgeon, where he was diagnosed with muscle loss in his back end (along with hip dysplasia – not requiring surgery), he has been on a diet along with increased levels of exercise.  Tango is continuing to build his muscles, especially in his back end (you can see muscle patterns developing) and he is getting stronger every day.  As he gets stronger his obedience training is a necessity and it is something we work on daily and he is doing great.  He wants to please and do the right thing and he gets a sad face if he needs to learn the lesson again.  Tango has been a great companion. He loves to take walks, lay at my feet when resting, and he loves to talk to me even gets a little sassy at times, he is very social, in fact he is one of the most vocal dogs I have ever been associated with.  The foster home had another shepherd in the home for several weeks and the two dogs romped, ran and played hard daily – Tango experienced no muscle issues during this time.  Tango went to the dog park and to the dog beach and loved playing with all the other dogs at both places – see pictures.  He hopes to do that again, soon.  He loves water, if you have a hose he wants to play in it and at the beach he splashed and ran in the waves and of course he thoroughly loved his shower time at the end.  Tango is very food motivated. He will do just about anything if there is a snack/meal attached to it. Tango is very handsome and is told so often.  He is just an all-around great dog!  If you have any interest, ask to meet him and stop by to play and check him out.
