Adopted MAGSR Dogs

Handsome Luca was seen being dumped out of a car a few weeks ago. The good Samaritan that witnessed this act had to make a quick decision - follow the person that dumped Luca or get Luca to safety. Fortunately, Luca's safety was top priority. He was quickly picked-up and brought into the comfort of the good Samaritan's home until animal services could get involved. Once animal services took over, Luca was able to get the care he needed while waiting for a decision about his next placement. Although Luca did well while waiting for his stray hold to end, animal services knew that this big guy would be best placed in a rescue where a GSD savvy home could be found. When asked to welcome Luca into the MAGSR family, we immediately stepped forward. 

Luca means bringer of light. This name is quite fitting for this guy as this big, silly, playful guy keeps you smiling with his antics. Luca is a very large boy with a very large personality. He is looking for an experienced household as he portrays some strong GSD traits. As is true of all young shepherds, Luca will benefit from a household that will provide him with the structure, routine, and leadership that shepherds crave. Food and ball motivated, Luca is more than happy to work for treats and attention. In fact, this boy has already begun to learn a few basic commands. Luca knows sit, paw, and down. He also knows to out the ball when asked. Training is essential as Luca needs to learn to trust that this forever family will commit to him for a lifetime. Ralph is a big, handsome, social guy. He likes dogs of varied sizes and has clearly been well socialized. As Ralph is still very young, it is critical that his forever family continue to socialize him appropriately. This will help him develop into a stable dog. As a playful guy, Ralph is looking for an active household that will exercise both his mind and his body on a daily basis. As we do not know anything about Ralph's past, in many ways he is a clean slate. He will benefit from structure, routine, and leadership. Ralph's family will need to make sure that he gets into training early. Unfortunately, we have learned that Ralph is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm prevention. MAGSR is beginning Ralph's heartworm treatment. Although treatment is expensive, sweet Ralph is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Ralph's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Ralph will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished.

Covered in ringworm, emaciated, and clearly not well cared for, this little family needed help and quickly. Fortunately, a good samaritan found this family and got them to the safety of a shelter. Although shelter staff did a wonderful job getting this family the help they needed, they knew that moms and puppies do not belong in a shelter environment. As a result, a rescue plea went out. When we heard that this little family needed help, MAGSR immediately stepped forward.

Lovely Katie Ann was picked up as a stray and sheltered by another rescue while they waited for her stray hold. Unfortunately, no one came forward to claim this lovely girl. Although they enjoyed their time with Katie Ann, the rescue caring for her felt that she would be most likely to find her forever family if she moved into a breed specific rescue. When asked if we could help Katie Ann take the next step toward her forever home, MAGSR immediately stepped forward.

Katie Ann is an affectionate and friendly girl especially with her people. She greatly enjoys the company of the people within her sphere and seems to understand the ins and outs of living with a family. However, as is true with most shepherds, Katie Ann will overbond if given the opportunity. This can cause her to become overprotective of her people, her property, and her home. In order to meet with success, Katie Ann is looking for an experienced household that will work with her to develop a healthy relationship. Boundaries and clear expectations are very helpful to her success. Katie Ann will thrive with routine, leadership, and structure. Training will also go a long way with this lovely girl. Not only will training help Katie Ann bond to her forever family, but it will also help her develop into a good and stable canine citizen. Katie Ann has already begun to learn some basics with our volunteers, but she will flourish with continued training. Although Katie Ann can be walked calmly in areas with other dogs, she is looking for a home where she is the only dog. Lovely Koda was adopted out as a young adult. She lived in a household with young children and a cat. Although she did well with everyone in the household, Koda's family could no longer care for her. As a result, they surrendered her to a shelter. Knowing Koda was a MAGSR dog, the shelter called us to let us know that they had Koda in their care. We immediately asked to bring Koda back into the MAGSR family. 

Koda is a lovely lady. She is sweet and affectionate. Having lived in a household prior to her return, Koda understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home; however, she will need a little time to adjust to the expectations in her forever family's home. Koda has lived with a cat but has been known to do a little chasing from time to time. In her foster home, Koda lives with other dogs and has done very well. She seems to enjoy pack life and does well in a stable pack. A big fan of fetch, Koda loves to get her daily exercise in while running around after a ball. She is also a big fan of her daily walks.

As happens as we get older, Koda has developed a few age related medical conditions. She does have pannus and will require daily eye medication in order to keep her comfortable. Fortunately, her medication is easy to find Koda is good about having it applied. In addition, Koda has developed some arthritis. As a result, it is unlikely that she will not be running marathons in her forever home. Although Koda has a few additional medical needs, she is a fantastic companion who enjoys spending time with her people. Lovely little Mistletoe is looking for a forever home this holiday season. This sweet girl was cherished by her family. However, due to an unexpected set of circumstances, they could no longer provide her with the care that they knew she deserved. Mistletoe is in many ways your typical young shepherd. She is curious, playful, and energetic. A fan of the ball Mistletoe will happily run around with one but is still working on bringing it back. It's just too much fun to give it back. Highly treat motivated, Mistletoe will be a star in training class. In fact, she already knows a couple commands. Sweet Renner was picked up as a stray and brought to a local shelter. Upon his arrival it was highly evident that this boy needed some special attention and quickly. His skin was raw and painful in many areas due to a deep skin dermatitis. Fortunately, the shelter was able to get him immediate medical care so Renner could find some relief. With a little TLC, Renner's skin has greatly improved. Although the shelter staff loved Renner, they knew he would have his best chance at finding his forever family if he was transferred to a rescue. Renner is a sweet young adult. He enjoys the company of his people and other dogs. As is true of many shepherds, Renner does need a little time to adjust to his people. However, in a couple of weeks, she will be ready to say goodbye as the entire family will be ready to find forever homes of their own. 

Delightful Bud is an absolute honey. Having lived in a household, his foster family has been working hard to develop his social skills. Although he has a good start already, it is imperative that Bud's forever family continue this process. Willow's mom loved her beyond words. Unfortunately, she recently passed away leaving sweet Willow behind with a team of friends who promised they would find Willow a loving forever family. Lovely little Cobbler is one of Sugar Pie's puppies. Having been born into the rescue, we have had the unique opportunity to watch her grow. Adopted as a puppy, Cobbler's family adored her. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, they could no longer provide for her. Recognizing that Cobbler deserved a safe and loving forever family, they contacted MAGSR to make sure that Cobbler could move forward safely.
