Bear was found running as a stray in a big city. When animal control picked up this sweet boy they were beyond surprised by his gentle personality. When no one came to claim Bear, the shelter started looking for a rescue so that he could find a safe and loving forever home. Although we don't know much about Bear's history, we do know that he is an affectionate and playful guy. Bear knows a few commands already and is highly food motivated. He takes treats nicely and is eager to learn. This motivation will make Bear the star at training class; participation in training will not only help Bear bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. 

Recently we have learned that sweet Bear is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been properly cared for and provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Bear has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Bear's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Bear is definitely more than worth the cost. Please consider making a donation toward Bear's treatment. Although Bear will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished.
