Kerouac
KerouacKerouacKerouacKerouacKerouacKerouac
DESCRIPTION:

Kerouac was found as a stray and taken to a shelter.  It is obvious by his weight and skin condition that he has either been on the run for a while or not well cared for in his previous home.  He currently weighs 84 lbs but should weigh closer to a 100 lbs, nothing that regular, good nutritional meals wouldn't take care of.  He also was covered with fleas which caused flea dermatitis, he is now flea free and his skin is on the mend.  Kerouac Is a very sweet, laid back boy who loves people.  He bonds quickly.  He is indifferent to other dogs, so he can live with or without other dogs in his new home.  This gentle soul is now ready to start life anew, please consider Kerouac when asking to meet our dogs.

Cinder is going home!
CinderCinderCinder
DESCRIPTION:

Cinder was surrendered due to circumstances beyond her control.  She is a beautiful, high energy girl that is continued training.  She successfully completed training with Off Leash K-9 but unfortunately her continued training and practice was not kept up.  Cinder is no couch potato, she is highly active and will require a family who can keep up with her and direct her energy.  She did live with smaller dogs which she did fine with unless their was a bone involved.  She does not like to be bothered when she has her bone.  There was no problems with food.  Cinder is not a dog for first time Shepherd owners and will require a family with experience with working line dogs.  Daily activity is a must as is ongoing training.  She would do well in agility or another type of job based activity like nose work.  A tired dog is a good dog.

Raven
RavenRavenRavenRaven is headed home!
DESCRIPTION:
Raven was surrendered to us by her family, who loved her very much.  Life changes made it impossible for them to keep her.  This was very difficult for them.  Raven is a cute, adorable, lovable, energetic puppy.  She has everything to learn about life and needs to be taught good puppy manners.  She is at the perfect age to start with basic obedience classes which will help her learn and keep her well socialized.  She lived with children and cats, although she enjoyed playing the chase games with the cat.

Puppies take a lot of time and patience, they rely on you for everything.  It is very important that time is spent keeping a puppy well socialized with other dogs and people, especially a GSD.  Please be sure you have the time to devote to a puppy as they go through the different changes of life.

Cherokee is headed home
CherokeeCherokeeCherokee
DESCRIPTION:

Cherokee was an owner surrender, moving onto a better life with a loving family.  She lived in her previous home with a number of dogs of varying breeds and sizes.  She was not getting the attention she deserved, has had no guidance, training or a pack leader.  She is a blank slate, but eager to learn.  She has no leash manners and will jump on people for attention.  Her new family will need to commit to training, guidance and consistency as Cherokee transitions into her new life and into adulthood.

Updates:
  • Cherokee is a sweet, intelligent, curious, alert dog who loves to play.  She is learning to walk on a leash politely, and has settled in to her foster home and routine.  She has learned about horses, and seems fine with them.  She loves to play with a jolly ball toy, which she chases, chews, carries, retrieves, and generally adores.  She is doing well with sit (her foster keeps little treats in her pockets at all times), and will sit now to get her collar and leash on in the morning.  Housebreaking is coming along quite well, and she has been perfect since those initial few anxious days in a new environment.  She has explored all areas of the farm, and helps with chores such as going into hay loft to toss hay down to the horses, and walks in the back field to check on the bees.  Cherokee is going to be the dog of a lifetime for the right family - she is loving, and wants so much to be part of a family. Children recently visited the farm, and except for wanting to jump up (a habit we are working on breaking her of), she loved meeting and playing with the kids.  Ask to meet Cherokee if she sounds like a good fit for your family.

Cali
CaliCaliCaliCaliCaliCali (left) & Tucky
DESCRIPTION:

Cali cannot be any cuter and is absolutely a great little girl, happy go lucky and loves to give puppy kisses. Cali has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Cali will become even more of an amazing girl than she already is. Please inquire if Cali sounds like a good match for your family. Available for adoption at 8 weeks, November 12th!

Updates:
  • Cali is a little ball of puppy energy. She's pretty fearless and loves to play until she drops! She has even learned to bark. She likes to be near people and will happily play by herself as long as you're close by. She can get a bit overtired so her foster parents have found that when she acts cranky, they just put her in the crate and she might protest for a minute but then goes to sleep.

Hugo Adopt
HugoHugoHugo
DESCRIPTION:

Hugo was surrendered to us as his family felt their home was too small for him and they also did not like his shedding around their child. When one gets a GSD they need to realize that they are big dogs and they shed a lot. Hugo now is looking for a family who appreciates the breed regardless of their size and shedding. Sadly sweet Hugo tested heartworm positive, he obviously was not kept on monthly Heartworms Preventatives which would have protected him. He will need to undergo treatment to rid his body of Heartworms so that he may enjoy many more years of life. Treatment is expensive but Hugo is so worth the cost.

Donations towards his treatment would be greatly appreciated, this would also help us save other dogs with medical needs.

DESCRIPTION:

Rory was surrendered to MAGSR after he was severely injured while breaking out of his crate and having a bookcase fall on him. Rory had lacerations to his ear and shoulder caused by the latch on the crate with a hairline fractured his shoulder from the bookcase falling on him, which should heal on its own with proper restrictions. As is true of all puppies, Rory is sweet, cute and cuddly. Rory will require a lot of attention, time, and patience from his new family. He has a lot to learn and will need leadership and guidance in order to become a good canine citizen. He will get into things, chew on inappropriate things, have accidents, whine, and want lots of attention and love. Rory will need proper food and vet care for the rest of his life. In return, he will smother you in puppy kisses and cuddles while entertaining you with his puppy antics. If interested in Rory, please be sure you have the time and patience to raise a puppy and commit to him for his entire life.

Tye once had a family of his own we he peacefully lived with children, dogs and cats. When his family moved Tye was not included, so he found himself at a shelter. Tye would love to once again have the comforts of a home and the love of a forever family.

  • Unfortunately, Tye was returned to us as once in the adopters home he was showing behaviors we had not seen. Although he had lived with children and another dog prior to being surrendered, once in his new home he did not seem to do well with the neighborhood children. Tye is now back in our care, our volunteers are spending more time with him. Since living with a trainer, Tye has been reported to be doing excellent and is friendly with all people he has met. Tye will need someone who is willing to take the leadership role and take him training to establish a positive bond between him and his handler. Tye takes direction well and is very intelligent. Luke

ADOPTED 09/29/2016!

Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Age at adoption: 13 years
Color: Black & Red
Current Size: 94 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 95 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: No
Living With: Foster

Good With Kids: Older kids only
Good With Cats: No
Other Dogs OK: Yes

DESCRIPTION:

This sweet, loving, senior boy who devoted his life to his previous family was repaid for those years with being dumped at a shelter.  Why, because they no longer had the time for him.  The condition he arrived in our care showed that this family never had time for him, his nails were so over grown that he had a very difficult time walking, his beautiful long coat was dirty and matted and he had a skin infection.  Well his life has changed for the better, he is now in a loving foster home living the life he so deserves.

Luke bonds quickly with his people, he is getting around well after his much needed nail clip and has a nice pep in his step for a senior.  He has been examined by the vet and is being treated for the skin infection.  Seniors are wonderful, they have so much love and kindness to give.  Please don't let Luke's age deter you, he deserves a true family to call his own and to spend his senior years with.

Updates:
  • Luke is settling in nicely to his foster home. He's getting stronger every day in MAGSR's care and when he walks, he's almost prancing around and seems so happy. He likes to play with toys, play catch with his ball, and is becoming more active. If you're looking for a companion and would consider one who has lived a little, please consider this senior boy who still has a lot to give.

Luke's foster mom took Luke in thinking she would be getting an old guy that really couldn't do much, but she has been very surprised. MAGSR was told Luke is 12 yrs old, but his foster mom think he's a few years younger than that. While Luke may not be for someone who wants to hike 10 miles or someone who wants a dog to run or jog with, Luke is now taking several walks a day and can easily walk 1/2 mile without difficulty. Luke is very affectionate and loves all attention he gets. Luke would make someone with a quiet lifestyle a great dog and companion. Please schedule an appointment to meet Luke!

EvieEvieEvieEvieEvieEvieEvieEvieEvieEvie
DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Evie was surrendered at a shelter when her family decided to move. They took the 3 month old male GSD but didn't take her. Evie lived with children in her previous home - the youngest child being 4. She is reported to be housebroke and trustworthy in the home. Evie is a sweet girl looking for a family who will love her for life.

Updates:
  • Evie is doing well in her foster home and recovering from a pretty bad case of pneumonia. Evie is a very sweet girl and is very attentive and affectionate and focused on her handler. Evie will need structure and training, as all the pups do, and is waiting to fully recover and move on with her life and her new family. Please think about meeting Evie because she is waiting to meet you.

  • Evie was returned to MAGSR after a year, through no fault of her own, but because her owner could no longer provide care for her. Evie's foster reports that she is confused and nervous in her temporary home. Her fosters slowly introduced her to all of their resident dogs a little bit at a time, but for now, are allowing her to decompress in her crate and will continue to integrate her into the pack gradually and at her own pace. On walks around the neighborhood, Evie seems to be okay, but she is very sad she is now without a permanent home. Evie walks well on a leash and was friendly with the neighborhood kids. Evie is such a sweet dog just wants to find a family who will love and commit to her. If Evie sounds like a good fit, please ask to meet her.

Due to unforeseen changes in Ceasars families lifes they were no longer able to care for him. He is a friendly boy who gets along with children and other dogs. Training is much more than teaching the basics and good manners, it helps socialize the dog and also creates a bond with their new family.

Hemlock

ADOPTED 09/05/2016!

Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Age at adoption: 1
Color: Black and Tan
Current Size: 75 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 75 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: Yes
Living With: Foster

Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes
Other Dogs OK: Yes

DESCRIPTION:

Hemlock was very much loved by his family but his owner was deployed and his family looked to MAGSR to find Hemlock a loving and caring home. He is a beautiful boy who is very friendly with everyone he meets. He loves to play fetch, Frisbee and loves to cuddle. He has carpus valgus in his left front joint. It has been established that this condition most commonly occurs in rapidly growing medium to large breed dogs. Some evidence suggests male puppies are more likely to be affected by this condition. This condition does not stop Hemlock from running and playing and having fun. If you can provide this handsome boy a loving home please ask to meet Hemlock today.

Updates:
  • Hemlock was returned to MAGSR when his family could no longer care for him. Hemlock is a young and energetic dog who has now broken the plate in his leg causing turning of his leg again. MAGSR is working with surgeons to determine the best course of action for Hemlock so that he can move forward with his life with a new family. Hemlock's recovery will require time and patience and following a strict set of guidelines for any adopter. Please ask to meet Hemlock if he sounds like a good fit for your family.

  • Hemlock (or ‘Lock, as his foster mom calls him) may have a crooked leg, but it doesn’t stop him from having fun! He is a high energy dog with a goofy personality and a lot to say! Playing with his Frisbee, swimming, going for long hikes, and riding in the car are some of his favorite activities. If you’re looking for a dog to share in your adventures, he’s your guy! As long as he gets his daily exercise, he will happily snuggle on the couch and watch TV with you (but much prefers to bring you toys so you can toss them). He loves to play with his foster fur sister, but sometimes gets a little jealous if he’s not the main focus. He knows many tricks, and would love to learn more! He’s still young, so does have to be reminded of the rules, and going to training will help with that. He’s potty trained and crate trained, but he rarely stays in his crate because he’s just so good in the house! If you can provide the patience, love, care, and commitment he deserves, please ask to meet him!
