'Dashing Deacon’ was found prancing along the streets as a stray. Deacon is a devilishly handsome (possible SuperModel status) fella who is a two-and-a-half-year-old stunner of a long-haired black and red GSD looking for his ‘fur-ever’ family. As we have gotten to know Deacon and how clever he is (and how much of a natural leader he is!), we know that he is looking for an experienced and assertive handler to help him become a strong, confident, and obedient companion. This striking boy has a strong personality and appreciates clear guidance from his people. Though he can be a bit willful when he knows what he wants, this dashing guy is ready to channel his charm into becoming a model canine citizen. This guy already has lots of amazing, advanced training under his belt, and is looking for someone who will continue that training to build a confident bond between him and his forever family. Deacon knows all of his basic commands and then some, and absolutely loves training. He will thrive with a family that wants to continue this; he may even do great with agility or sniff work to exercise his mind!

Deacon is looking for a family that can exercise his body and mind on a daily basis, as he sometimes does not know what to do with his pent-up energy. He would love opportunities to run, play, and enjoy mental enrichment, as this will make him as happy as can be. This majestic fluffball absolutely loves soccer balls, lacrosse balls, really any ball he can chase and chew on! He also loves bones.. but sometimes needs extra instruction on giving them back! He loves playing tug of war with his toys, wrestling with his humans, and he even does great at doggy day care. 

Knowing Deacon's energy level, we recommend he finds a forever family that does not live in a large city; a calmer, less hectic environment would help him feel more safe and secure. Deacon is sometimes taken by surprise by sudden movements and sounds, and can become anxious. While the city-slickin' life may not be for him, we know he has the ability to thrive in a quieter, more spacious environment.
