Description
Lincoln is a very sweet dog. We have enjoyed having him. Unfortunately he has severe anxiety that seems to have worsen over the last year or so. The anxiety mainly occurs when there are storms or Fireworks. He has some separation anxiety but walking him every day helps that. We have tried a variety of different approaches from the calming collar, leaving worn shirts of ours with him, tried crating him when anxiety worsened but he broke half a tooth which we had to have extracted. On the days his behavior is positive, we make sure we praise him and give him treats. Lately if there are storms, he has destroyed door knobs with his mouth, he clawed or torn up a wooden door frame, damaged our child’s high chair. At this point we are worried he is going to hurt himself and/or our daughter will injure herself on the damaged items/furniture in our house. As far as his demeanor with people and children, he is wonderful. He has never ever shown any aggression to our daughter. In fact, we have worked very hard with our daughter to know how to approach a dog but sometimes she will come from behind him and tug on his tail; and he never has shown aggression. If anything, he just walks away from her. Of course we praise him for how he behaves with her.
