Description
Lovely Luna was picked up as a stray and brought to a local shelter. Although shelter staff hoped that a family would come to claim Luna, no one came for her. Recognizing that a GSD is often most successful if placed through a breed specific rescue, shelter staff worked with MAGSR to help move Luna forward. We are so excited to have welcomed Luna to the MAGSR family.
Luna is a sweet, young, and intelligent GSD. Typical of most GSDs, she can be somewhat aloof at first. However, given a little time and some tasty treats, Luna begins to show her playful side. She is affectionate and interactive once comfortable. Gentle with her play, Luna does seem to understand the concept of toys and is happy to play on her own. Although we do not know anything about her past, we do know that someone worked with Luna. She knows a few commands, such as sit and paw, and will gently take treats from the handler. However, she will need to continue to build leash manners as it appears that she has had limited opportunities on leash. As a young dog, Luna is looking for a household that will provide her with the structure, routine and leadership that will help her meet with success. Training is essential for Luna. Not only will this help her develop a healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her build the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Luna is a sweetheart who is looking for an active and loving forever family. Could that be with you?
Updates
Luna is doing great in her foster home. She crates well and is quiet in the crate. There have been no accidents, so she is housebroken. She did very well on the leash when we went walking. She just needs some consistent walking and she'll be a pro in no time. She has a lot of energy and is very loving and playful. When my husband came home from work and walked into the back yard, Luna went running to him like she's known him all her life and wanted to get lots of head and belly rubs from him.

Luna has recovered nicely from her spay and is now off of restricted activity. She is a bundle of puppy energy and loves to play ball. She has met most of my family as they come over, all adults, and wins over the hearts of everyone she meets. Luna has met her foster brother and sister and is getting along well with them when they play outside. Inside, they like to rough house so their time together is limited. My end tables can only take so much German Shepherd collisions before whatever is on them topples to the floor. Having a 4yr old, an almost 2yr old and a 10 month old makes for an active house. Literally put them away for "naps" yesterday so "mommy" could have some alone time in the pool. Anyway, Luna is a complete joy and is super smart, curious and likes to chase rabbits and squirrels. She barks at the vacuum and handled the neighborhood fireworks with ease. Her recall is pretty good. We are still working on leash manners and will spend more time doing it now that she is free from restrictive activity. Luna is going to be a fabulous dog and her future family will be very lucky to have her.
