Description

Cover-boy Phil is no stranger to the spotlight, he has posed in a few photoshoots and graced the pages of We the Dogs DC and most recently DC Refined. While he has been moonlighting as a model, he has become a little bit of a diva and has been very choosy about the perfect place to call home. Phil is a 5yr old, 66 lb. GSD/Aussie Mix that came to us as an owner surrender back in mid January. His previous owner said he came to her around a year old abused, malnourished, skiddish and fearful of strangers. During the 3 months we've had him in foster he has made great progress. Initially he was very snappy (he's never bitten) and weary of new people but, with a lot of work and understanding, has warmed up to his foster family and is no longer snapping. He was very reactive to strangers and children while on walks but is now able to completely ignore them. He's been learning basic commands and he is still reactive when meeting new people and dogs so he will need slow introductions.

Phil is quite the character and once he gets to know you will spend all of his time snuggling and getting belly rubs. He loves his toys and will even bring them to you when he is excited to see you. He absoultely loves walks, although he's working on not pulling, and just being outside in general. He also likes car rides. He will spend hours people watching out of his foster's front windows.

Phil would do best in a quiet home with a confident and experienced adopter without small children or other pets. He has gotten along with other low-key, aloof dogs in the past, but he tends to be possessive over his people and things which is why we chose to separate him from his furbrother. Phil's new forever family will have to be patient, prudent and commited to continuing his training for him to be the best dog he can be, but we guarantee that if you take your time to earn Phil's trust, he will be the most loving dog you will ever share your life with.
