Prince
ADOPTED 08/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Prince was a beloved member of his family. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they could no longer care for him. Although surrendering Prince was a very difficult decision, his family knew that this was in his best interest as it allowed him to move forward. We promised Prince's family that we would find him a safe and loving forever home.
Prince is an energetic and playful guy. He loves to run around and play ball. Prince is looking for an active family. A family member with a good throwing arm would be an added bonus. Good with dogs, particularly little dogs, and cats, Prince enjoys the company of his furry friends. Having lived in a loving household, Prince is both housebroken and crate trained. Although he understands a lot of the rules of living in a household already, he will need a refresher in his new home. Prince has also had the benefit of a few training sessions prior to his arrival. However, he will need to attend training with his new family as this will help him not only bond to them. This will also help him develop the skills he needs to become a good canine citizen. Prince is looking for a family that will provide him with the structure, routine and leadership to move forward. Could that be with you?
Homer
ADOPTED 08/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Homer was surrendered to a local shelter as his family felt that they could no longer care for him. Although Homer seems to like people, he is very submissive and a little jumpy with new people and situations. Recognizing that Homer would be most successful if placed through a rescue, the shelter began sending out pleas for help. When we learned of Homer's situation, MAGSR immediately stepped forward to welcome him to the family.
Homer is a big, handsome boy. He is curious and affectionate but does need adjustment time when encountering new people, places, and situations. Head shy and very submissive when being leashed, Homer may not have always been treated affectionately. He will need time to learn to trust that his new family will treat him kindly. Thriving on confidence and stability, Homer is looking for a family that will move him forward positively. As is true of all shepherds, Homer will benefit greatly from training. Not only will this help him bond to his forever family, but it will also help him develop the confidence he needs to become a good canine citizen. Homer is looking for an experienced GSD household that is ready to commit to him for a lifetime. If this gorgeous guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!
Homer, a shy dog, is waiting for his fur-ever home where he can shine!
Updates:Wow! Homer has really come out of his shell since he as been living with his foster. He was so scared and unsure when he first arrived but now his personality is shining. He loves to play ball, sit for pets and is doing great with obedience training. Homer is a big guy who loves meeting new people and will continue to build confidence with structure. Homer is crate trained and house broken. If you are looking for a big boy to be a part of your family contact us to meet him.
Mac
ADOPTED 08/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Mac was picked up by animal control and brought to a shelter. Upon her arrival it was highly evident that she was in need of medical support. Mac could pull herself up on her front two legs, but struggled to move her back end. Shelter staff immediately got her into a vet to see what they could do to help this lovely little girl. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that Mac had a fractured pelvis, close to the right hip, and a dislocated left hip. It is presumed that Mac was hit by a car. She would need surgical support to help her move forward. Unfortunately, this was not an option at the shelter and would likely result in Mac being euthanized. In an attempt to save her life, a plea for help went out. MAGSR's volunteers knew they needed to help.
Mac is an absolute sweetheart. Even with the significant amount of pain that she is in, Mac is still gentle and affectionate. Her lovely eyes simply tug at your heartstrings. We have already begun working with Mac's surgical team to help her move forward. Mac will need to take it slow as she heals; however, at her age, a full recovery is expected. As a young girl, Mac is still learning all about the world around her. She, just like any young pup, will benefit greatly from continued socialization. This is critical as it will help her develop into a stable and confident adult. Mac is looking for a family that will love and cherish her for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Updates:It has been an absolute pleasure to have Mac in our home. She is a complete love bug. Full of tail wags and kisses, Mac may not have always been treated kindly by humans, as is evident from her emaciated frame and bullets in her tail; however, she remains interactive and social. A fan of people and kids, Mac welcomes everyone with kisses. Living with other shepherds, Mac takes a moment to realize that she is safe and then immediately begins interacting with the same little wiggles that she shows everyone. Although we do not know much about Mac's past, she is housebroken and crate trained. Mac settles very nicely in her crate and enjoys a cracked moose or elk horn to keep her entertained. A fan of toys and balls, Mac is playful and entertaining but is not a high energy dog. She enjoys her playtime but is also happy to curl up and relax. Mac is still learning to adjust to the world outside. She enjoys her daily walks but is still developing confidence when encountering new items or sounds. Having been hit by a car, Mac does pause when cars are moving near her. However, daily practice is helping her move forward. Mac is looking for a loving forever home that will care for her for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.
Sable
ADOPTED 08/23/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sable joined MAGSR when her family could no longer care for her. Although this was a very difficult decision, they knew this was Sable's best option for finding a forever home. We promised them that we would find Sable a safe and loving family.
Sable is a young, beautiful girl. Curious but cautious, Sable likes to take her time when acclimating to new people and situations. She seems to prefer a calm but confident handler. As a young dog, Sable still has a lot to learn about the world around her. She will benefit from socialization; however, this will be most successful if started in a controlled environment. With time, training, and increased confidence, Sable will develop the skills all shepherds need to meet with success. Training will be beneficial as it will not only help Sable bond with her new family but it will also help her build confidence and stability. Sable will thrive with structure, routine, and consistency. As we are still getting to know this lovely little girl, watch for updates on her progress.
Russell
ADOPTED 08/21/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Russell was dumped in a suburban neighborhood. This smart guy chose a house and decided to hang out on their doorstep. Fortunately, he chose a dog-loving household who immediately brought him in and started taking the right steps to try to find his family. Although they worked with the local shelter and lost dog groups, no one came forward to claim Russell. Without the resources to keep Russell as a member of their household, this family waited for his stray to to finish and began reaching out for rescue help. We knew Russell would be an excellent addition to the MAGSR family and stepped forward to welcome him.
Handsome Russell is a young, energetic, and playful guy. Although we don't know much about his past, it is very evident that he has been socialized with other dogs and people. As a young dog, it is imperative that Russell's new family continue this socialization with new people, animals, and environments. This will help him develop into a stable and confident adult. In addition to regular socialization, Russell will need daily exercise for both his mind and his body. He will need an active family that can meet these needs. As is true of all young dogs, Russell will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. His new family will need to take him to training so that he can develop a healthy bond with them. Training is also important as it will help Russell become a good canine citizen. If this impressive guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!
Updates:Russell is settling well into his foster home. He is fully house broken and is learning how to sleep quietly in his crate at night. Russell is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle with you on the couch. Since he is so young, he does have a lot of energy and likes long walks. He was never obedience trained and still has some bad puppy habits like picking up socks, but is getting better with some structure and consistent house rules. He learned 'sit to say please' very quickly! Russell would do really well in a home that has another dog he can play with. He keeps trying to play with the resident dog, but she is not interested. He is persistent and has not given up yet! He is friendly with other people and dogs.
Adira
ADOPTED 08/16/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Adira and her siblings - Isa, Knox, and Beckett - were dumped on a country road. Emaciated and clearly lacking care, these babies needed help and fast. When a kind member of the community discovered what had happened to the puppies, they moved quickly to help these babies find safety. Recognizing that these little orphans would have their best chance at finding safe and loving forever homes with a rescue, a plea for help went out.
Adira is an absolute doll. She has been fortunate to have been living with one of our amazing vetting partners who has worked hard to make sure she is happy, healthy, and well socialized. Continued socialization is critical to Adira's success as she grows. Unfortunately, it was apparent when Adira arrived that she had suffered some trauma to her back leg. It seems very likely that she was hit by a car when dumped with her siblings. MAGSR quickly had Adira seen by one of our vets who recommended that she be seen by a specialist as she would need an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy). This past week, Adira had her FHO surgery and is resting comfortably with the help of a few anti-inflammatory meds. She will need to take it slow over the next month or two as she heals; however, Adira is expected to make a full recovery.
Please consider donating to Adira's care.
Although Adira is a love, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Adira will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If this little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!
Updates:
Sweet Adria is now living with a foster and they have shared that Adria is crate trained and housebroken. Adria had hip surgery June 17th and she requires another 4 to 8 weeks of strict crate rest as she continues to heal, the vet expects her to have a full recovery. Adria loves attention and of course she wants to run and play, but she is kept on a short leash so that she can heal properly. Adria loves toys, chewing on nylabones and yummy kongs filled with peanut butter. If you are looking for a loving, sweet little girl to join your family please set up a meet and greet. Yes we know, she still has to grow into her ears :)
Kodiak
ADOPTED 08/15/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Kodiak was surrendered to a high kill shelter in the south with his buddy, a little beagle. Their family was no longer able to care for them and had run out of options. Another rescue learned about the two pups and knew they didn't have long particularly, because they were owner surrenders. At the last second they were able to find a temp foster and pull the dogs with hopes of finding other rescues who could help them settle into loving forever homes. When MAGSR was contacted to see if we could help, we immediately answered the call. Kodiak's buddy found safety with a breed specific beagle rescue and Kodiak made the long journey to join the MAGSR family.
Kodiak is an impressive guy. As a mature adult, he is stable, calm, and confident. A social guy, Kodiak enjoys the company of other people and other dogs. He is known to give out big, sloppy kisses to his friends. Kodiak has lived in a home prior to his arrival in our care. As a result, he knows many of the rules of living in a household; however, like any new dog he will need a little time to adjust to his new environment. Kodiak will thrive with structure, guidance, and leadership. This will help him adjust to his new family and routine. Just like all dogs, Kodiak will also benefit greatly from training. This will not only help him develop a strong bond with his forever family, but it will also help him learn the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Kodiak is already developing a few basic skills but will need to continue to learn more with his new family. This amazing guy is looking for a family that will commit to him throughout his golden years, could that be with you?
Ted
ADOPTED 08/15/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Ted was picked up as a stray in the south and brought to a shelter. Although he waited patiently for his family to come and claim him, no one came up to get him. Due to unprecedented issues with overcrowding, the shelter staff knew that Ted would need rescue support to make it out alive. When asked if we could help this guy find a safe and loving forever home, MAGSR knew exactly what to do.
Ted is a friendly guy. He enjoys the company of other both human and canine. His loving personality simply makes him a joy to work with. Although we do not know anything about his past, it is clear that Ted was socialized with people and with dogs. He will need to continue to build his leash manners as it doesn't seem like he has had much practice prior to his arrival. As is true of all shepherds, Ted is looking for a stable household that will provide him with structure and routine. He will also benefit from training as this will help him bond to his forever family as well as develop his good canine citizen skills. We have learned that Ted is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had Ted been provided with regular preventatives. MAGSR has begun Ted's heartworm treatment and Ted is doing very well. The cost of Ted's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but this sweet guy is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Ted's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Ted will need to take it slow for the next couple of months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a sweet and affectionate guy, ask to meet Ted today!
Ralph
ADOPTED 08/14/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Ralph is a big, handsome, social guy. He likes dogs of varied sizes and has clearly been well socialized. As Ralph is still very young, it is critical that his forever family continue to socialize him appropriately. This will help him develop into a stable dog. As a playful guy, Ralph is looking for an active household that will exercise both his mind and his body on a daily basis. As we do not know anything about Ralph's past, in many ways he is a clean slate. He will benefit from structure, routine, and leadership. Ralph's family will need to make sure that he gets into training early. This will help Ralph bond to his forever family; it will also help him develop the skills and confidence he will need to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Ralph is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm prevention. MAGSR is beginning Ralph's heartworm treatment. Although treatment is expensive, sweet Ralph is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Ralph's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Ralph will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished.
If Ralph sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet this boy today.
Updates:Ralph has been in foster for 2 weeks and has changed so much in a short amount of time. When Ralph arrived, he seemed to be nervous, unhappy, and a bit fearful. He quickly attached himself to his foster mom, but he was standoffish toward the two males in the home. After one session with a trainer, we learned some techniques to get him to warm up to the males. After a couple of days, he was a completely different dog! He is now Mr. Happy Go Lucky and friendly to everyone, including multiple strangers (male and female) who have come to the foster's home in the last week.
Ralph loves other dogs. He loves his foster brother Vader, and they would play together well if we could let him (we can’t yet because he is heartworm positive). He sleeps in the crate at night. He goes in easily (with a treat!), Ralph is housebroken (as long as you are paying attention to his clue). Ralph is learning to walk on a leash, and is nonreactive when he sees other dogs on our walks. Ralph has started to learn his commands, such as sit. He is a smart, fast learner. He does not chew things he shouldn’t, and occasionally plays with a bone. Overall, Ralph is a happy, loving dog who would do well with any family. He craves affection. His favorite thing is bellyrubs – when we approach him, he often drops to his back to give us the sign!
Fred
ADOPTED 08/14/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Fred was confiscated due to cruelty and neglect. Due to court proceedings, this good looking guy waited for several months at a local shelter waiting for his chance at finding a family that would love and care for him for a lifetime. Once given the green light to move forward, shelter staff felt that Fred would have his best chance at finding his forever home through a rescue. When asked if we could help Fred find the perfect forever family, we immediately stepped forward.
Fred is a very handsome guy who was clearly not cared for early in life. Undersocialized with people, he will require time and patience to adjust to new people and situations. Fred prefers a calm, slow handler at first as he gets his bearings. However, given time, structure, and leadership, he does begin to open up. As a young dog, Fred will thrive with routine. He will benefit greatly from training as this will not only help him bond to his forever family, but it will also help him develop the stability and confidence that all dogs need. Fred is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the love and safety he so clearly deserves. If your household sounds like the right match for Fred, ask to meet this boy today.
Marquis
ADOPTED 08/12/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Marquis was purchased as a puppy. Unfortunately, his family did not realize how large he would become and quickly discovered that they did not have the time or resources for a large breed dog. Recognizing that they would not be able to properly care for Marquis, they began reaching out for help. When asked to help this pup move forward, MAGSR stepped up.
True of all puppies, Marquis is a playful and inquisitive guy. Unfortunately, his family did not provide him with many opportunities to socialize with people and other animals. As a result, this boy is shy and does need time to adjust to new people and situations. Marquis' forever family will need to make sure to give him plenty of opportunities to socialize in controlled settings. This is essential for all dogs as it helps them develop into stable and confident adults. Training will also be critical for Marquis as it will help him bond to his forever family; it will also help him begin developing the skills he will need to become a good canine citizen. Although Marquis is a cutie, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their families. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they whine, get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Marquis will develop into the amazing dog we know he is destined to be. If this pup sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Clover
ADOPTED 08/09/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Charming Clover was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. Upon arrival it was highly evident to staff members that Clover was in need of help and fast. Emaciated to the point where she was struggling to walk and covered in ticks, shelter staff did what they could to make her comfortable and then began asking for help. Recognizing that Clover would need to be transferred to a vet for support and monitoring, they requested that she be moved immediately. When the call went out for help, we knew this little girl would be right at home in the MAGSR family.
Clover is clearly in pain but she remains sweet and loving. She has been moved to one of our amazing vetting partners so that we can meet her medical needs. As care has begun, we have discovered that in addition to her other medical needs Clover is also heartworm positive. This could have been avoided if she had received monthly heartworm prevention. Clover's heartworm treatment will begin as soon as she gains some much needed strength. The cost of Clover's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Clover is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Clover's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her as well as other dogs with medical needs. Clover will need to take it slow over the next few months. This will help her body heal so that she can move forward with a forever family. As we are just getting to know Clover, we will provide updates soon.
Updates:Clover had bilateral FHO's (Femoral Head Ostectomy) completed on Monday, April 12th. She had some older fractures as well; however, as they had already set, the surgeon could not repair these. While under the surgeon went to spay Clover and discovered that she had a pyometra so, Clover was lucky that the decision was made to spay her while she was under.
In order to keep Clover comfortable and calm, she is receiving some good pain medication. PT exercises have begun. However, as Clover moves forward she will need extensive Physical Therapy in order to heal appropriately.
Your generosity has funded Clover's surgery but, of course, the need persists for funding to support our ongoing medical commitments. Please donate to help.
Aout a month ago, Clover moved in with her foster family. She easily won everyone in the household over with her lovely personality. When looking into those beautiful, soft eyes and your heart simply melts. Clover is gentle but timid when first meeting new people. It is very evident that she was mistreated prior to her arrival. Given a little time and patience she snuggles right up to her people for head rubs and attention. Her precious tail wags bring smiles to everyone she meets.
Clover has healed well from her surgery and has begun rehab. The fantastic staff at Paradise Animal Hospital are working with Clover as she relearns how to walk. Clover loves pool time with their staff and has been an incredible patient as she builds her muscles and overall strength. Practice at home is a breeze as Clover loves to be with her people and is happy to complete her daily exercises. Over the next couple months Clover will continue to work with her rehab team to gain back full function of her back-end. As she is still so young and clearly very resilient, a full recovery is expected.
Clover is living with kids, cats, and dogs. She is patient and curious with the kids. When they are quiet and calm, she will come up for kisses and tail wags. Clover also seems to enjoy the dogs and the cats in the household particularly, those that are calm. She makes her way up to them with little tail wags. She is definitely curious about her foster pack but prefers to take her time making new friends.
Clover is ready to move forward into a home that will provide her with safety, security, and plenty of love. Could that be with you?
Bonita
ADOPTED 08/08/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Beautiful Bonita was picked up as a stray in a busy city with her two pups - Hermosa and Guapo. This sweet little family was taken to an overcrowded animal shelter where they waited to be claimed. When no one arrived to bring them home, a plea went out for help. We knew this little family deserved the comfort and safety of a home and stepped up to help.
Bonita is a sweet but timid girl. She is gentle but would prefer that her people give her a little time to adjust. With patience Bonita warms up and begins to let her personality shine. As we do not know anything about her past, in many ways Bonita is starting fresh. She will likely need to learn the ins and outs of living in the comfort and safety of a household. With structure, patience, and leadership, we are sure that Bonita will thrive. Training will be a critical piece of Bonita's transition as it will help her bond to her forever family while also building the stability and confidence she needs to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Bonita is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had she been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Bonita's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but this sweet little momma is definitely worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Bonita's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her as well as other dogs with medical needs. Bonita will need to take it slow for the next few months as her body will need time to heal. However, this will give her the chance to adjust to her forever family. If this special girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Roscoe
ADOPTED 08/07/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Roscoe and his sister, Lady, were part of a litter of puppies that were bred for sale. When he did not catch the eye of potential buyers, her owner kept him on the property for potential breeding when he was older. Although given food and water, Roscoe's owner did not provide him with adequate shelter, socialization, or vetting care. When his living conditions were discovered, another rescuer worked with Roscoe's owner to have him and his sister surrendered to MAGSR.
Roscoe is in many ways a young GSD. He is intelligent, curious, and energetic. Although he does need time to warm up to new people and new situations, with a calm and confident handler Roscoe's personality begins to shine. This handsome guy simply likes to take his time when adjusting to his environment. As Roscoe was previously kept outdoors with a metal shed for shelter, he has not had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a comfortable household and a soft bed. His new family will need to slowly introduce him to the household so that he has time to acclimate to his new home. As is true with all dogs, Roscoe will thrive in a household where he has structure, routine, and leadership. This will help him develop into the stable and confident dog we know he is destined to become.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Roscoe is heartworm positive. This condition could have been avoided had he been provided with monthly preventatives. MAGSR is beginning Roscoe's heartworm treatment. Although treatment is very expensive, Roscoe is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating to Roscoe's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Roscoe will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for an intelligent and curious boy, please ask to meet Roscoe today!
Flo
ADOPTED 08/05/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sally and her Cars Puppies were rescued in the south by another group. As they wanted to do right by this lovely family, they began reaching out to other groups who would be able to support the family until they were ready to find forever homes of their own. When asked to welcome this family into the MAGSR family, we immediately said yes.
Flo is a bundle of energy and joy. She is cute as a button and brings happiness to everyone around her. Well socialized in her foster home, Flo is a match for a household with kids, cats, or other dogs. Although Flo's foster family has given her an excellent start, it is imperative that they continue to keep Flo well socialized. This will help her develop into a stable adult. Although Flo is absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Flo will develop into the good canine citizen that we know she is destined to become. If this little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.
Updates:Now that the puppies are older, they have gone into individual foster homes. Flo is an easy-going, friendly puppy who has fit right in with the resident GSD's Nala and Vader. Flo loves being snuggled by the humans in the house. She is already well on her way to being house-trained (#1 on the pee pad, #2 outside after dinner), and she is adjusting to the crate nicely (she cries for a few minutes when you put her in the crate but eventually gives up).
She would be a great fit for any family ready for the demands of a puppy!
Kylie
ADOPTED 08/02/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Beautiful Kylie lived in a loving home. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, her family was unable to continue to care for her. Although this was a very difficult decision, Kylie's family had her best interest at heart. We promised them that we would find Kylie a loving forever home.
Kylie is a bright and energetic girl. She, like many young shepherds, will thrive in an environment where she has structure and leadership. Craving direction, Kylie often looks to the handler for cues. Although she is still learning leash manners, it is highly evident that Kylie will pick-up new skills quickly. She will be a joy to work with in training. This will not only help her further develop her skills and abilities but it will also help her bond to her new family. Kylie has lived in a household. As a result, she does know some of the ins and outs of living in a home. However, as is true of all new dogs, she will benefit from a refresher. Kylie is looking for an active household that will exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. Could she be the right match for you?
Fluffy Bear
ADOPTED 08/01/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bear was cherished by his family. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they needed to surrender him to MAGSR. Although this was a heart wrenching decision, they were doing what was in Bear's best interest. We promised Bear's family that we would find him the perfect forever home to live out his golden years.
Bear is a big, beautiful, friendly guy. His family clearly did a nice job socializing him with people. Bear loves getting attention and will lean in for some extra love. As Bear's family took him to training, he knows several commands. However, a brush up is always a good thing. Bear will benefit from a refresher course with his new family as this will also help him bond to them. When in his playful mood, Bear enjoys the water and a chuck-it ball. He is happy to play fetch for a bit but then likes to take his ball to a comfortable spot and munch on it for a bit. As Bear has some strong jaws, a sturdy ball like a chuck-it is important. Bear is looking for a calm and comfortable household where he can get plenty of attention, regular snuggles, and lots of love. If Bear sounds like the right dog for your household, ask to meet this amazing guy today!
Updates:Fluffy Bear is living with a foster family and is a perfect gentleman! He has great house manners - he does not counter surf or get on the furniture and as a "senior" he is very calm. He loves going on daily walks and greeting his neighbors. He also rides well in the car. His new family will need to brush his beautiful coat regularly and he enjoys the attention. If you're looking for a calm, well-behaved, semi-senior walking companion, ask to meet Fluffy Bear.
Hermosa
ADOPTED 07/29/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Beautiful Hermosa was picked up as a stray in a busy city with her mom and brother - Bonita and Guapo. This beautiful family was taken to an overcrowded animal shelter where they waited to be claimed. When no one arrived to bring them home, a plea went out for help. We knew this little family deserved the comfort and safety of a home and stepped up to help.
Hermosa is a sweet and curious little girl. However, she can be a little shy when first meeting new people. Bouncy and playful, this little girl is looking for a household that will help her burn her puppy energy positively. As Hermosa has likely never lived in a household, she will need to learn all of the amazing things that come with living in a home. Although Hermosa is a sweetheart, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Hermosa will develop into the good canine citizen that we know she is destined to become. If this little cutie sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today!
Elvis
ADOPTED 07/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Description: Elvis and Priscilla were abandoned by their family. Fortunately, when a good Samaritan found them, they moved quickly to get them help. Elvis and Priscilla were brought to a local shelter where staff immediately began addressing their needs. Underweight, under-socialized, and lacking vetting care, shelter staff recognized that Elvis and Priscilla would need some extra support to move forward. When contacted to see if we could help them find their forever home, MAGSR was happy to step up. After several months in foster together and a trial separation it was determined that Elvis and Pricilla are not a true bonded pair as they do not appropriately care and nurture each other's needs. In their best interest, MAGSR decided to separate them in order to find them the best permanent home possible for them to continue to grow and develop into beloved family pets.
It is evident that Elvis has not always been treated kindly by people and although shy at first, with some gentle words, high value treats and loving pets he comes around. Elvis is always eager to learn and is building his confidence each day in his foster home. He is a very loving, gentle and kind dog. Elvis strives for his humans approval and responds well with verbal praise, patience, and high value treats. He craves head rubs, hugs and snuggle time in the evening. Elvis is housebroken and crate trained. He really enjoys the company of other dogs - big, small, young, and old and loves romping in the backyard! He has never met a dog he didn't like. Elvis knows some basic obedience; sit, down, come, no and stay. Elvis easily makes friends of both two and four legged varieties and has a happy go lucky disposition. Elvis' heartworm treatment is complete and he is no longer on restricted activity. He is ready to embark on the active lifestyle he deserves. If this sounds like the dog for you, ask to meet Elvis, you will not be disappointed!
Khalisi
ADOPTED 07/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Khalisi was placed outside in a metal cage during a severe storm and left. Fortunately, she was found and quickly moved to safety before anything catastrophic occurred. Unfortunately, safety was short-lived as Khalisi found herself placed at an overcrowded shelter where many dogs do not make it out alive. When a rescue plea went out, MAGSR immediately stepped forward.
Although Khalisi has lived through some challenging circumstances, her sweet personality remains intact. Since arriving in our care, she has had the opportunity to learn that humans can be kind and loving. In her foster home Khalisi has been interacting with people and other dogs. She enjoys snuggling up next to her furry foster brother and can often be found sleeping with her back touching his back. With soft beds, regular meals, and structure Khalisi is thriving. As Khalisi continues to move forward she is looking for a loving forever home that will provide her with the guidance, leadership, and safety that all dogs deserve. If this lovely girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Updates:Khalisi is a sweet honey of a dog despite obvious trauma in her past. She does everything she can to please her handler and works overtime for pets and snuggles. She is at that perfect age where she is excited for a walk or to romp around with her foster brother but is just as stoked to cuddle on the couch with some TV. She is very responsive to commands and learns quickly. Khalisi does have a strong prey drive and is not good with cats, however she may have been a mother before coming to MAGSR and was a great mother goose to the 4 unrelated puppies that came up from down south on her transport. This lady is eager to please and earn your heart with her unconditional love! As is true with most Shepherds, she responds well to routine and boundaries and will benefit from an obedience tune up with her new family, allowing her to bond closely with them
Khalisi is thriving in a foster home and is enjoying the company of the other dogs and humans. She is shy at first but warms up quickly and is taking everything in stride. She walks nicely one the leash, knows some obedience commands, crate trained and is incredibly smart and loyal. She is sweet and easy going girl. She is ready to find her forever home, ask to meet Khalisi today!
Khalisi is a sweet girl who is crate trained, housebroken and excellent in the house. Khalisi walks well on leash and loves walks, being outside and playing ball. She gets along with other dogs, (proper introductions needed). She loves to snuggle, chew on bones and toys.
Beckett
ADOPTED 07/26/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Beckett and his siblings - Adira, Knox, and Isa - were dumped on a country road.
Beckett is a goofball. Having the benefit of recuperating in a foster home, he has had the opportunity to start learning about the comforts of living in a home. His foster household has also taken the important step of beginning to socialize him with other people, dogs, and situations. Continued socialization is critical to Beckett's success as he grows. Although Beckett is a honey, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Beckett will develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to become. If this little boy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today.

Carla
ADOPTED 07/19/2021!
Carla is a bundle of energy and joy. She is cute as a button and brings happiness to everyone around her. Well socialized in her foster home, Carla is a match for a household with kids, cats, or other dogs. Although Carla's foster family has given her an excellent start, it is imperative that they continue to keep Carla well socialized. This will help her develop into a stable adult. Although Carla is absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Carla will develop into the good canine citizen that we know she is destined to become. If this little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.
Updates:Carla has a great personality. She is friendly and playful and curious just like a 2 month old puppy should be. She loves to run and play with toys. She is a great eater. She is very smart as well, she is learning her name and even occasionally will sit on command. She now quietly sleeps through the night and can go 6 hours in her crate overnight without any accidents (we still walk her frequently during the day). She is a very sweet puppy, a total snuggler and loves to be around people.

Updates:Look at Knox and how well he is doing with training, what a good boy. His fosters report that he is learning commands, which you can see from the new pictures of him. He is crate trained with no issues in his crate sleeping calmly through the night. His fosters consider him to be house broken as there have been no accidents in the house but keep in mind he is still a puppy and is not left unsupervised in the house. As you can see from the pictures they have been doing a lot of socializing with him, going to pet stores, hardware stores, farmers market, public parks etc. Knox loves to go on walks, play in the backyard and go for rides in the car. He is fantastic in the car. Knox is calm, sweet and lovely with all people, including children.
If you are looking for a puppy that has a great temperament to grow with your family please contact us to meet him.
Maui
ADOPTED 07/19/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Maui was picked up as a stray and brought to a local shelter. Although she waited patiently for her family to claim her, no one arrived to take her home. When we got the call to help Maui move forward, we immediately welcomed her to the MAGSR family.
As a typical young shepherd, Maui is full of energy. She is a playful and affectionate girl. Ready for a game of fetch at any time, Maui is hoping that her new family likes to throw the ball around. In order to burn her energy in a healthy way, Maui's new family will need to exercise both her body and her mind on a regular basis. Highly motivated by both treats and toys, Maui will be a joy to work with and training will be a breeze. Training will not only help Maui bond to her new family but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Maui is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had she been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. The cost of Maui's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive but sweet Maui is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Maui's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her as well as other dogs with medical needs. Maui will need to take it slow over the next few months. However, she will be back to full strength as soon as her treatment is complete. If this lovely lady sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Courage
ADOPTED 07/18/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Update: Courage is Heartworm Free and he has healed from his knee surgery. Courage is having so much fun running, playing and being a normal dog after many months of being on restrictive care. This handsome guy is ready for his furever home! Please call to meet him!
Sometimes we all need a Christmas miracle and for Courage that miracle couldn't come soon enough. Courage was found near a vacant building with significant wounds to his paws and legs. Based upon his injuries, Courage was likely hit by or tossed from a car. In need of immediate care, he was quickly brought to a shelter for help. Shelter staff did everything they could to help Courage, but they recognized that he needed additional help from a private vet and fast. When a plea went out for help, MAGSR stepped in to grant Courage's Christmas wish.
Courage is in a significant amount of pain. However, he remains gentle and friendly. At this time, Courage is unable to bear full weight on one of his back legs and has several deep wounds on his legs and feet. These wounds look infected and are significantly impacting his ability to move easily. Fortunately, MAGSR has a phenomenal vet working with Courage already. He is getting x-rays completed, wound care, antibiotics, and pain medication. Over the next few days we will have a better idea of the full extent of Courage's medical needs. However, no matter what the prognosis MAGSR will be by his side every step of the way. Although Courage will receive all of the love and care he needs to recover, MAGSR needs help making his Christmas wish come true. Please consider donating to his care so that MAGSR can continue to help dogs like Courage this holiday season.
Courage's wounds are healing nicely and he can even walk up and down the stairs in his foster home to sleep with his foster family in their bedroom. In his foster care he has experienced other dogs and is a NO for cats. He would prefer another dog or GSD that is playful in his forever home but he could be an only dog. He has a sweet, playful personality and loves to roll on his back for belly rubs. He likes a Kong ball but is currently restricted to having it in his crate due to being heartworm positive. He loves to be 'outside' and he is an expert sniffer like most shepherds and then some! Even though his outside time is restricted, it is evident that he will need to improve his leash walking skills. He does recognize some basic commands but will need to attend a training class and then practice his newly learned skills. Courage seems to be familiar with noises, activities and rules of living in a house. He has not had any accidents in the house and sleeps fairly quiet at night except for changing his sleep position. He loves to be with his people and would love to be your lap or couch dog if allowed. Courage is a handsome boy with a great personality and should fit in with most families with older children.
Updates:Courage is making progress in his foster home and has come a long way since he joined his foster family. He is calm and relaxed in the house most of the day except at meal times when he gets very excited and will talk up a storm but will be calmer when kept close by on the leash. He is quiet in his crate at night and while on crate rest due to his heartworm treatment or when the fosters leave the house. He is also very calm and happy looking out the storm doors to observe dogs, people and other activities.
When he first arrived at his foster home he started mouthing when being leashed up, getting belly or head rubs and also exercising his leg during rehab. He is starting to understand that this behavior is not acceptable and has been much better not mouthing. His mouthing doesn't seem aggressive at all but more of a reaction of being handled by someone and him protesting as he most likely never had any training and got away with this kind of behavior. He is now much better and not mouthing when getting leashed, routine exercises and handling.
He is a Thief extraordinaire and he will grab anything available and will snatch a napkin or paper towel right out of your hand or off the counter. And he is an expert counter surfer; nothing is safe within reach if you leave him unattended for just a moment and that's about 5 seconds. He needs to be in the crate at any time you leave the room just to step outside and his antics make us laugh at how creative he can be snatching up the desired object but which he will quickly drop or ignore when given proper motivation.
He picks up random tennis balls left behind by other dogs when outside and he would probably love to run and retrieve them. He seems to remember to run free and play with a ball as he stares at the dogs in the neighborhood chasing the ball. There is a fun personality waiting to come out once he is allowed to engage in normal day to day activities again. And he has those sunshine brown eyes that are most expressive looking at you and are hard to resist.
Courage will be a great dog for the right family and he is ready for his furever family. He has almost recovered from his knee surgery and he is now going through his heartworm treatment with optimism towards his full recovery. He is used to his limited, short outings to do his business and he would rather chase squirrels and visit with the other dogs. Courage is looking forward to playing at full speed over time once all of his treatments are completed. He is keeping busy chewing on nyla bones and an occasional other chew. He is currently on house and crate rest and he is on limited training in the house to keep his mind engaged. He knows NO, SIT, COME, and we are working on DOWN, STAY and PLACE. Stay and place are something he will have to work on with his new family but he is very food and treat motivated so this will be helpful training him once he can fully engage in activities.. As all shepherds, this gorgeous, fun loving lad will need structure, patience and training with his new family and please ask to meet this handsome young boy... and yes, he is a BOY!
Courage has completed his heartworm (HW) treatment and his recent microfilaria test was negative. This is great news for him and he is ready to start another chapter in his life with more exercise and discover the world beyond crate & house rest and the limited walks he has had for months. Courage is excited to show off his personality; walking, running and playing; preferably with another 4legged playmate. This boy is ready to find just the right family and as stated in a previous post, he is a BOY dog and he does BURP! on a regular basis that just makes his fosters laugh. His sunshine eyes are expressive and he is ready to meet his new family and show what an amazing and fun dog he can be. And he will chase the Cicadas if he can get a hold of them!
Cash
ADOPTED 07/18/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Cash is a handsome guy. He and another furry friend wandered up into a yard in the south and decided that it might be a nice place to stay. Fortunately, these dogs picked the right yard as the family immediately started looking for their family. Although they worked with animal control and local groups to find the dogs' family, no one claimed them. Another rescue was able to bring in Cash's buddy; however, with so many rescues at capacity, one was all they could bring in. When asked if we could bring Cash into rescue so he could move forward with a forever family, MAGSR immediately stepped forward.
As is typical of many young shepherds, Cash is playful, energetic, and looking for leadership. He does very well with a calm handler who can show him the ropes. A social guy, Cash enjoys the company of people of all ages. A big fan of toys and treats, Cash will be a star student in training class. Training is essential for all dogs as it helps them bond with their new families, as well as, develop the skills needed to become good canine citizens. Cash is looking for a family that will exercise his body and his mind on a daily basis. He will also benefit from regular socialization in order to build confidence and stability. If this handsome guy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Junior
ADOPTED 07/18/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Junior and his siblings were part of an accidental litter. His family loved him greatly and took good care of him and his siblings. However, as the puppies grew older, it became difficult to take care of so many dogs. Recognizing that Junior and his siblings would be better able to receive the care and attention they deserved if they were rehomed, Junior's owner made the difficult decision to surrender the group of siblings to MAGSR. We promised that we would find each member of the family safe and loving forever homes.
Junior is a love. He was well socialized in his home with kids and other dogs. However, his family struggled to find time to socialize him in the community. As a result, Junior can be a little timid with new people and in new places. Given time, patience, and guidance, Junior will develop the confidence he needs outside of the household. Just like any young dog, Junior will thrive with structure, routine and training. Training will help him to not only bond with his new family but also develop into the stable adult we know he is destined to be. If Junior sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today.
Updates:
Junior is a sweetheart that loves to be close to his human. He is crate trained, housebroken and working on obedience. He walks amazingly on a leash and would be a great walking companion with just a couple little tweaks. Junior loves kids. His favorite human in the house is the foster's daughter and her friends. If you are looking for a loving family dog, this is your guy. As you can see from his picture, he is just hanging out waiting for his forever home.
If you are looking for a sweet loving family dog then Junior is the one. He loves all people and would welcome living in a home with another dog. At his foster's he keeps the dad company during the day by laying at his feet under his desk while he works. He loves snuggling, going for walks and helping his foster mom take care of the goats and chickens in the mornings. Junior is still not sure why the chickens need to follow him around on his walks :). Junior has come a long way in his obedience, he will sit for his leash to be attached, he goes in the down position and walks nicely on the leash. Since he is such a social butterfly, he does get excited when he sees other dogs but he is learning he needs to remain calm. Junior is only a year old, so he would love to go running, long walks, playtime and of course snuggling with his human.. If he sounds like a fit, set up a meet and greet with this sweet boy.
Bandit
ADOPTED 07/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Bandit was picked up as a stray in the south. Although he waited for his family to claim him, no one came looking. Recognizing that Bandit would be most successful in a foster home, a member of the shelter staff took Bandit in until he could find a place within a rescue. When we heard that Bandit needed help to move forward, we immediately welcomed him into the MAGSR family.
Bandit is a large and stable guy. Although he was on his own for a bit before arriving at the shelter, he had clearly been well socialized with people. As Bandit was the alpha of a pack when out on his own, he does better with female dogs. He can pass other male dogs and maintain his calm demeanor; however, he will be most successful in a household without other males. It is clear that Bandit has begun to learn some leash manners and is comfortable being handled. However, just like any new dog, he will benefit from training. Training will go a long way with this handsome guy as it will not only help him bond with his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Bandit is heartworm positive. This condition could have been avoided had he been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. MAGSR has begun his heartworm treatment and Bandit is doing well. The cost of his entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Bandit is clearly worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Bandit's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Bandit will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a friendly and stable guy, please ask to meet Bandit today.

Lovely River was dropped at a shelter in the south. Although the person that dropped her off didn't provide any information about this girl, it was very clear to the shelter director that River was special. So, she took River home as a foster until a rescue could be found. When we heard about River, we knew she would be a great addition to the MAGSR family.
River is a special girl. She is sweet, playful, and an absolute love. Although this little lady is a bit of a mover and shaker, she is happy to settle in for some attention. Enjoying the company of furry creatures whether they are big or small, River is good with dogs and cats. She is also comfortable around people of all ages. Although it seems she was socialized prior to her arrival at the shelter, it is highly evident that the foster home she was in continued to provide this socialization. River is looking for a forever home that will commit to her for a lifetime. She will thrive in a home that will provide her with structure, routine, and leadership. As is true of all dogs, training will go a long way with River as it will help her bond to her new family. It will also help her further develop into a good canine citizen. If River sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet her today!

Murray Clutchburn is a bundle of energy and joy. He is cute as a button and brings happiness to everyone around him. Well socialized in his foster home, Murray Clutchburn is a match for a household with kids, cats, or other dogs. Although Murray Clutchburn's foster family has given him an excellent start, it is imperative that his new family continues to keep Murray Clutchburn well socialized. This will help him develop into a stable adult. Although Murray Clutchburn is absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Murray Clutchburn will develop into the good canine citizen that we know he is destined to become. If this little guy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today.
Updates:Murray is growing and learning so much. He is crate trained, housebroken, knows sit and down and is learning to walk on a leash. He spends lots of time with his foster's grandchildren and is great with them. He has puppy energy but once he gets a nice walk or 30 minutes of playtime, he is ready for snuggles! His foster said "Murray is one of the easiest puppies I’ve ever fostered and would be a great addition to any family"! Let’s get this guy adopted!
Sierra
ADOPTED 07/12/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lovely Sierra was picked up as a stray. When she arrived at a shelter it was highly evident that this girl had been struggling to survive. Sierra was emaciated and infested with fleas that had caused a skin infection. As shepherds often struggle in shelters, Sierra needed help and fast. Vet care was quickly provided and this little lady immediately moved into MAGSR's care. Sierra enjoys the company of people and other dogs; however, she lacks confidence which can cause her to overbond to her people. As she moves forward, Sierra will benefit greatly from training; it will not only help her bond appropriately to her new family, but it will also help her learn to take cues from the handler. She will meet with greatest success in a household that has experience with the breed. We are still getting to know Sierra. As we know more about her, we will post updates. If Sierra sounds like a good match for your household, please ask to meet her today.
Updates:Sierra has been a foster home for a few days and has proven she is a loving and faithful companion with the people she trusts. She takes time to warm up to new people and does not like being approached but is highly food motivated and will come to you for that. Sierra is an affectionate, intelligent, loyal girl who wants nothing more than to be with her person. On the first day I received kisses and she was on her back enjoying belly rubs and all the pets! She is housebroken and sleeps quietly through the night. She does not get on furniture or chew things she should not. She loves to play tug, go for walks, indulge in a marrow bone, and get lots of attention. She is a sweet and sassy 1 yr old GSD and likes to romp around but gets overly excited and not quite sure how to play but with time that will improve. She will need time to adjust to other dogs and does ok if on leash and being monitored at this time. Sierra is incredibly intelligent and has adapted quickly to her new living situation she knows sit, down, and come. She will do best in a home with GSD experience, one that is familiar with fear reactivity, and one that will provide a structured environment. She has a proclivity to barrier reactivity and overly bonding to handler and can exhibit a negative reaction. Sierra will be attending board and train soon which will help work on her insecurities and become the amazing and obedient companion she can be. This will be a huge plus for any adopter since Sierra's training package will come with her at adoption and the adopter will follow up with the private and group lessons that are paid for by MAGSR and if there are any setbacks the adopter can go back to training free of charge for the life of the dog! Sierra continues to make progress everyday and an update will be posted upon completion of the board and train. Sierra is a diamond in the ruff and will make the perfect addition to the right family.
Howdy folks, I have completed my board and train and am ready to WOW my future family with my skillz. During training I met some cool humans who reminded me that being confident is good and that will benefit me in the long haul but being overly demanding and pushy is not the way to get what I want. I had previously fought the leash and commands but now I know through consistency, repetition, leash pressure, hand signals and verbal commands what is being asked of me. When communication is clear to me from my handler I excel. Another thing I learned while at training was that being alone is okay and that I do not need to throw myself into a tizzy when people leave me. Actually, I can be content to just chew my favorite bully stick or marrow bone in peace. I still require a crate to help make me feel safe but it's not a bad place and I know now that bad things will not happen to me. As for other dogs, I tolerate them but being the dominant dog that I am, if they do try to overstep the boundary, I react negatively. This is why I do prefer to be the only child..... I mean dog. Speaking of children I'm not sure what these creatures are but they make loud and unpredictable movements which scare me and when I'm afraid I revert back to my old habit of reacting. At my young impressionable age I was not shown kindness or socialized with people and I'm just now figuring out that these humans can be good to me. I am a snuggle bug but I will not get on furniture, I will however, lean into you and immediately roll on my back for belly rubs. I do that thing I hear the humans talk about, bonding. I'm the epitome of the velcro dog and in a home environment I just need to know the human is in charge and I can follow their lead. My intelligence, loyalty, confidence and affectionate personality are what draw humans to me but you need to know what your doing, or at least that's what I overheard the trainer humans say. I will give you my very best when clearly communicated to, I need a handler who can give me structure, time, consistency and love. When you adopt me you have the unique opportunity to complete my private training lessons and group lessons free of charge. The quote "with great power, comes great responsibility" and that is precisely what you are being given with me. Are you up to the challenge?
Ranger
ADOPTED 07/12/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Sweet Ranger was brought to a local vet as his family decided that they wanted him euthanized. It was evident that Ranger needed some medical care for an untreated skin infection; however, staff members quickly recognized that this delightful guy deserved a chance at life with a family that would commit to him for a lifetime. Fortunately, they were able to convince Ranger's family to surrender him to them. Once safe, the vet staff immediately began addressing Ranger's needs.
Ranger had untreated skin issues that had caused a lot of hair-loss, flaking, and itchiness. It is believed that everything began with an allergy that when untreated and resulted in a secondary yeast/fungal infection that got out of hand. He has been given a course of antibiotics, steroids, and medicated baths which have already begun to have a positive impact. In addition to skin issues, sweet Ranger also had significant bilateral ear infections that have since been treated. Although his appearance may not match his impressive personality right now, we fully expect him to regrow his lovely coat.
Please consider donating to Ranger's care.
A stable and friendly guy, Ranger seems to enjoy the company of his people. He is a playful guy and will happily fetch a ball and drop it for another throw. A big fan of squeaky toys, Ranger smiles while he plays. Although he is still a little sensitive around his ears, which is likely due to the severity of his ear infections, Ranger loves attention and happily rewards his people with kisses. Once comfortable, he will ask for belly rubs as well. As a social guy, Ranger can be vocal at first when left alone but he quiets down quickly. Having had the opportunity to meet dogs of a variety of sizes and temperaments, Ranger's confident and easy-going personality wins everyone over. Ranger will need to continue to have regular baths to help his skin clear up and will need to be kept on a low ingredient food in order to keep his allergies in check. This sweet boy is looking for a family that will commit to loving him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?
Thunder

Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Thunder's family loved him greatly. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they were unable to continue to care for him. As a result, they surrendered Thunder to MAGSR so that we could find him a safe and loving forever home.
Thunder is a big, beautiful guy. He enjoys the company of his people and is always excited to meet a new friend. Having lived in a household, Thunder understands the ins and outs of living in a home. However, as is true with any new dog, he will need a little review in his new home. Already knowing a few commands, Thunder is eager to please particularly, if food or toys are involved. Training will go a long way with Thunder. It will not only provide him with the skills needed to meet with success in his new home, but it will also help him bond to his new family. Thunder is looking for a household that will provide him with the structure, routine, and leadership that all shepherds crave. If Thunder sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!
Frix

Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Frix was picked up as a stray in the south. Shelter staff knew that this little guy had limited options and began working hard to help him find rescue placement. When asked if we could bring Frix to safety, we immediately welcomed him to the MAGSR family.
Frix is a delightful little guy. His beautiful eyes simply melt your heart. As is true of all puppies, Frix is playful, energetic, and full of endless cuteness. He will quickly win over his forever family with his amazing personality. We have begun to socialize Frix with people and other animals. However, it is imperative that Frix's new family continues this process as it will help him develop into a stable adult. Although Frix is as cute as can be, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate iems. With patience, time, and training, Frix will develop into the good canine citizen that we know he is destined to be. If this little honey sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today.
Abel

Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Sweet Abel was picked up as a stray in the south. Although he waited for his family to claim him, no one came looking. As it was felt that Abel would have his best chance at finding a safe and loving forever home in another region, a rescue plea went out. MAGSR answered the call.
Abel is an absolute honey. He was clearly well socialized before he arrived at the shelter. A fan of people of all ages as well as dogs of all sizes, Abel brings joy to everyone he meets. Although Abel is a good sized boy already, he seems to be developing some leash manners already. As is true of any young dog, Abel will thrive with structure, routine and guidance. Training will go a long way with this handsome guy as it will not only help him bond with his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Abel is heartworm positive. This condition could have been avoided had he been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. MAGSR has begun his heartworm treatment and Abel is doing well. The cost of his entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Abel is clearly worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Abels treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Abel will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a sweet, playful guy, please ask to meet Abel today.
Annika
ADOPTED 06/21/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Annika was returned to MAGSR's care after incidents with the other dog of the household, as well as the cat. She will be looking for a forever family where she can be the sole animal in the home to be the center of attention.
Annika is a beautiful young adult with a big personality. She is extremely intelligent and observant of her environment. She also forms strong bonds with her humans and is very affectionate. Annika will be protective of the house once she sees it as her place. She will thrive with a confident handler and structured training to bring out her potential, because she lives for meaningful interactions with her people. She is active and a jumper, and may be a candidate for agility training or other activities that engage her intelligence.
She loves tummy rubs and affection, walks, and interactive games. She learns quickly when pepperoni treats are on hand, and will even play a good game of hide and seek the treat. Annika likes her crate and is fully house trained. She walks well on the leash, learns commands quickly, loves car rides and exploring new environments like trails and parks.
If sweet Annika sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today.
Updates:Annika continues to practice and learn commands - including sit, stay, lie down, go to bed (she runs into her crate), go find (hide and seek treats), and when waiting for the walk signal at intersections she’ll sit with a snap of the fingers. With a few taps to your shoulder she’ll snuggle up and fall asleep. She loves her humans and is forever ready for a walk, demonstrating excellent leash walking manners (until a squirrel crosses her path, but who could blame her for wanting to catch one?). She has no problem meeting other dogs on walks, she simply doesn’t wish to live with them. Annika is thoroughly house trained, staying at home for hours on her own snoozing on the couch until it’s time to greet you at the door with eager tail wags.
Sir Albert
ADOPTED 06/19/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sir Albert and his siblings were part of an accidental litter. His family loved him greatly and took good care of him and his siblings. However, as the puppies grew older, it became difficult to take care of so many dogs. Recognizing that Sir Albert and his siblings would be better able to receive the care and attention they deserved if they were re-homed, Sir Albert's owner made the difficult decision to surrender the group of siblings to MAGSR. We promised that we would find each member of the family safe and loving forever homes.
Sir Albert is a love. He was well socialized in his home with kids and other dogs. However, his family struggled to find time to socialize him in the community. As a result, Sir Albert can be a little timid with new people and in new places. Given time, patience, and guidance, Sir Albert will develop the confidence he needs outside of the household. Just like any young dog, Sir Albert will thrive with structure, routine and training. Training will help him to not only bond with his new family but also develop into the stable adult we know he is destined to be. If Sir Albert sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today.
Lady
ADOPTED 06/19/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Lovely Lady and her brother Roscoe were part of a litter of puppies that were bred for sale. When she did not catch the eye of potential buyers, her owner kept her on the property for potential breeding when she was older. Although given food and water, Lady's owner did not provide her with adequate shelter, socialization, or vetting care. When her living conditions were discovered, another rescuer worked with Lady's owner to have her and her brother surrendered to MAGSR.
Lady is in many ways your typical young GSD. She is playful, curious, and energetic. Although she does need a little time to warm up to new people. Lady's delightful personality quickly shines through. She easily wins you over with her puppy antics. As Lady was previously kept outdoors with a metal shed for shelter, she has not had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a comfortable household and a soft bed. Her new family will need to slowly introduce her to the household so that she has time to adjust. As is true with all dogs, Lady will thrive in a household where she has structure, routine, and leadership. This will help her develop the stability and confidence that all dogs need to be successful. Daily exercise and interaction will also contribute to Lady's success. If this lovely little girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Zinnia

Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Sweet Zinnia and her little family were dumped and forced to fend for themselves. Fortunately, a good samaritan found this little group of puppies and quickly brought them to the safety of a shelter. Although they presented as typical puppies on arrival, unfortunately, within a few days these babies broke with parvo. This horrifying virus takes so many young lives too soon. An immediate plea was sent out for help. With the support of an amazing team of veterinarians and a kind donor, MAGSR was able to get this little family the help they needed. Against the odds, all three little fighters survived.
Having survived parvo, Zinnia is a super puppy. She cannot ever contract this horrible disease again. Ready to move onto a life of love, cuddles, and safety, Zinnia cannot wait to meet her forever family.
Although Zinnia is beyond sweet, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require an endless amount of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, get into things, and chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, guidance, and training, Zinnia will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If Zinnia sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today.
Updates:Zinnia is waiting patiently for her permanent invitation to your family cookouts! She is so smart and incredibly kind in every aspect. She bonds fiercely to her human and will do whatever is asked of her; like leave a pile of cookies alone for a cute picture. She is a playful girl who loves to hide her toys to save them for a rainy day. We’ve been practicing her potty training skills and she’s almost got them mastered!! She knows basic commands and listens well for a baby dog. She loves playing in the water so bathing is easy and she doesn’t mind getting a pedicure. She has done excellent around babies and is gentle so would love her own kids to love!
