Farrah
ADOPTED 08/17/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Farrah came to us from a local shelter. The shelter staff told us that she was very sweet and wow, were they right! Once she warms up to you, she will give little kisses. Though Farrah is a little timid in the noisy kennel environment, she is still pretty outgoing even after all the change she has been through recently. She doesn't appear to have been taught any commands. But she is quick to learn and is very inquisitive about what is expected of her and what she is being exposed to. Farrah rides quietly in a vehicle once she jumps in. She doesn't seem to understand what toys are about which is kind of sad. But we are confident she will learn in no time. She also met an adolescent boy today while we at the shelter and she was fine with him. Again, she was curious; just taking in the world around her. Though she is estimated to be approximately 4 years old, in some ways she acts much younger and somewhat puppy-like at times.
She was introduced to two MAGSR alums today; Snowy (seen receiving kisses from Farrah) and Karma (smaller white and cream mix) and she really liked both of them. She was very comfortable around both and she would do well in a home with a well mannered dog who she can learn from.
Updates:Farrah has settled nicely into her foster home. She really is just the sweetest thing! She is working on house training, but she isn't there quite yet. She is still a little shy when first meeting new people, but will warm up quickly. She is so eager to please and is very smart- she is coming along nicely with basic commands. She is now comfortable with cars and will jump right in, then rides nicely in them. She knows what toys are now and is a chewer! But she won't chew on anything that isn't hers. She has excellent house manners and isn't destructive at all! She would do great in a house with another dog to keep her company. She is just an absolute sweetheart and don't miss the opportunity to meet her!
Magda
ADOPTED 08/13/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Magda came to us from a shelter so we have no information about her past. We do know that she is a sweet, friendly girl looking to the future with her new family. She needs to put on some weight, with good nutrition it will also help with her dry skin. Watch for updates from her foster family.
Updates:Magda is a pretty sweet shepherd, who is doing well in her foster home. She calmly submitted to a bath that she did not enjoy and sat nicely to have her fur and teeth brushed. Magda is gentle with children and interested in playing with other dogs. She stays close to her people and seems unfazed by the ruckus of young kids. She is not accustomed to stairs and needs a little encouragement to walk down them. Magda will put her paws on the counter to look for snacks, but she listens to "leave it." She does not seem food aggressive and rides nicely in the car. She rode well in a crate in the car, but hasn't been left alone yet. Magda has not had any accidents in the house, but she has been supervised on a leash a all times since coming home.
Woodrow
ADOPTED 08/13/2017!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Woodrow along with his brother Luther have not had the best of care, but through their years of neglect they have been best buddies and the one constant in their lives. These boys are very bonded and would not do well separated, they must be adopted as a pair. The boys are settling into their foster home together and experiencing a life of love and comfort that they so deserve.
Woodrow is about 30 lbs underweight, he also is missing fur with sores on his body which the vet feels is caused by a Flea infestation which caused dermatitis. He is now receiving the care and nutrition he so desperately deserves and is under the care of our vet. We think he is very handsome and will only be even more so once his fur grows back and he gains some much needed weight.

Luther is stunning, although his coat and skin are dry at this time the good nutrition he is now receiving will make a big difference.
Achilles
ADOPTED 08/12/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Achilles made his way to us after he had been turned into a shelter by his former family. He is strikingly handsome, full of puppy energy and mannerisms. It is obvious that no one ever worked with him on good manners. A good training program along with structure and consistency will go along way in helping him become a good K9 citizen. He is no couch potato and has so much too learn, it is important that his new family has the time and patience to work with him.
Updates:Achilles is a sweet boy looking for a home to call his own. He came to his foster home looking forward to a warm bed and plenty of nice pets. The first order of business was to give him a bath, and he trusted his foster mom to clean him up, giving no trouble at all. Achilles particularly loved getting a "furmination." When Achilles is hanging out at home, he is usually playing with his foster sister (who is half his size) or being just close to his family. Achilles didn't love the crate at first, but got used to it once he realized it was a safe place. He is mostly housebroken and could use some basic obedience. Achilles's foster family has no doubt that he would make a loving addition to any home with dogs, kids, or anybody else. He is loving and wants to receive just as much love himself.
Over the past couple of days Achilles has been opening up and showing how sweet and gentle he really is. When not playing with his foster sister, he is close his humans hanging out or giving kisses. He loves massages too! Achilles is used to his crate and will gladly go in and enjoy chewing bones in there! He really good with both people and dogs. On nice days he likes to go outside and hang out on the porch and watch people and cars go by. Achilles sleeps well at night in his foster parents bedroom on his bed. He is waiting for his forever home and can't wait to show them how awesome he is!
Lincoln
ADOPTED 08/12/2017!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lincoln is a young handsome Black and Tan Shepherd. He still has lots of puppy energy and mannerisms. He is looking for an active family who take him for long walks or runs and of course lots of playtime. He is ready to learn the finer things of being a well mannered family member so training is a must.
Updates:Lincoln is a gentle sweet boy that needs a forever home to help him continue all of his great progress. He is shy meeting new people but quickly gains trust with treats and positive assertive energy. He is a great walking or running partner. Today he even played on the nearby playground (slide included)!
He will be a great addition to an active home that is comfortable working on his good manners. He is doing well keeping a feeding schedule and using the bathroom. He is housebroken. He is eager to please and to become the best he can be
.
Grisham
ADOPTED 08/12/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Grisham is a friendly boy with lots of puppy energy, at only 1 yr he is still a puppy. Training will go along way in helping him learn good manners and create a bond with his new family. Young dogs need a lot of attention and guidance, so please be sure you are able to commit to Grisham for the rest of his life.
Updates:Grisham is a very sweet and good-natured young dog. He has been living in his foster home for a couple weeks now, and has settled in wonderfully. He is very well adjusted to his crate, has proven he is housebroken, and gets along splendidly with the two older resident dogs. He is coming along very well with some of his obedience commands, and has a good sit and down, and has really made great progress on his leash manners. He meets new dogs easily and well with proper introductions, keeping in mind he is still pretty young and puppyish, so may be a little “over the top” for some older and more reserved dogs. As a young dog he has boatloads of energy, and loves to run and play in the yard, and go biking with his foster dad. He is happy to meet all people, young and old, and loves to curl up at your feet and hang out (once he’s burned his puppy energy off!). Grisham may be a bit stubborn sometimes when he is uncertain about what is going on – for example he wasn’t going anywhere near the vacuum cleaner the first time he met one. But he is very handsome and charming young GSD mix that is very upbeat and eager to please. Please ask to meet Grisham if he sounds like the dog for you!
Missy
ADOPTED 08/11/2017!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Missy is a precious four year old shepherd mix. This terrified girl was in her house surviving alone for four weeks after her loving owner passed away. She never left his side and managed to tip over her bag of dog food to survive.Missy is a quiet gentle soul and enjoys having quiet quality time with her fosters. Missy is indifferent to both dogs and cats. Missy is in a foster so her heart can heal and she can decompress. Missy is a petite girl, loving known by us a pocket Shepherd. She would be a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys snuggling, having a loving shadow and just hanging out. She is extremely loyal to her people and would benefit from a new family to bond with.
Jolene
ADOPTED 08/09/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Jolene was found as a stray with a pretty significant cut/wound to her leg. The shelter provided her with medical care but unfortunately her wound has not completely healed. Jolene has been seen by our vet and will be seeing a specialist to see what can be done to help with the healing of the wound. This has certainly cramped Jolene's style as she is a high energy girl who loves to run, play and go for walks. Exercise helps burn off some of that energy, but she will have to forgo excessive exercise until her leg has completely healed. Once all healed up she will be ready for a running partner. Jolene does better with male dogs and non dominant female dogs.
Updates:I am settling into my foster home wonderfully. I love my foster kids in the house. My foster dad says I'm a happy thing and I follow my foster mom everywhere she goes...even when she exercises. I want nothing more than to be loved on and play with my toys. I'm really looking forward to playing fetch again. If you are looking for a devoted friend for life to snuggle with you and play with you adopt me! I'm worth it.
I am doing great in physical therapy and continue to be a great sport through all of the exercises both at home and there. My leg is getting better everyday. I have really settled in and look forward to my exercises, walks and visits to the bus stop. The better my leg gets the more I want to play tug and fetch but it will still be a little while longer. Hopefully when I go back to the doctor he will give the go ahead to run, jump and play because I am dying to do it. I have lots of energy and need a family that can keep up with me. My foster parents say that I'm a really special girl and will make some family a wonderful pal for life. If you have the time and energy please adopt me.

She respects a strong leader, but will take advantage of someone who she feels she can get away with things. She is young and energetic and has a lot to learn. Harley
ADOPTED 07/30/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Harley came to us as his family is moving out of the country.
He is a very large, handsome boy.
He is friendly with people, although he is a great protector of his home and property. He doesn't like just anyone coming near or in his home unless he is properly introduced and he knows they are allowed to be there.
He needs some training and is currently working on his leash manners, with a boy of his size he needs good skills.
Updates:Harley is a sweet dog who loves his humans. When his family had to surrender him, he was sad and confused. Since being with his new foster, Harley is starting to settle in and open up to those in the household. He likes to be close by people and loves giving kisses.
He enjoys walks and will sit for treats. Harley is comfortable in his crate and is house broken. He would do great as the only dog in the home.
Harley may sniff other dogs, but not engage much further.
Harley would be a great dog if you are looking have a companion to give lots of pets and love. He enjoys long walks outside, sniffs all the things, and always with a smile. He loves spending time with us and only wants to give some love and get some love.
Harley started playing rope with us. He is strong! Harley is well mannered with all people and is happy to say hello.
Meet this sweet boy who needs a loving home that he so much deserves.
Cassie
ADOPTED 07/23/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Cassie came to us as an owner surrender as the sons asthma was flaring up which was caused by Cassie. Her family is devastated as Cassie was a much loved and cherished family member. Cassie is a sweet and well behaved girl who has been very well cared for. She is somewhat confused with the changes but she is quickly settling into her foster home with the resident children, dogs and cats.
Sam
ADOPTED 07/22/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sam is a very handsome 8 year old male GSD. He has not been well cared for up until now, he is underweight and entered the shelter covered in fleas. Life has changed for the better, he is now receiving good nutrition, he has been treated for the flea infestation and he is much loved by our rescue. Now all that Sam needs is a family who will love him and provide proper care for his lifetime. Please consider Sam for your family, he deserves a new start at a better life.
Updates:Before writing Sam's update, I interviewed other family members to see what they have to say about Sam.
ORHD aged 8: My favorite thing about Sam: he is sometimes funny when he steals pillows off of the couch and snuggles with them. If Sam had a human job it would be a boxer; no, the guy who shoots t-shirts out of the big gun at games and makes everyone cheer. Sam was very stinky when he came here but he smells better now. I hope his new owner likes to give dogs baths. He liked his bath.
HLHD aged 8: My favorite thing about Sam: he brings back the ball when I throw it. Also, he ran into the wall his first night here. He thought a shadow was a door. He put his head in my lap and made sad sounds and let me pat him. If Sam had a human job, he would says hello to everyone at [LARGE DISCOUNT STORE] and marker people's receipts. He would act like the job is fun. Sam can be annoying because he never wants to just do nothing, but he is very nice and silly. I hope his new owner buys a lot of tennis balls.
MSD aged 6: My favorite thing about Sam: he looks funny when I put underpants on his head and stick his ears out of them. He really, for real, likes hugs. Not like some dogs that you can hug, but they want to get away. If Sam had a human job it would be a clown or a hugger who hugs people that need hugs. I hope Sam's new owner hugs him and never forgets to feed him.
Foster dad: My favorite thing about Sam is that he does not have a mean bone in his body. He is starting to listen to his name, "No, Sam." If Sam had a job it would be the guy who really wants to tell you about his religion at the Metro. I hope Sam's new owner is expecting an eight-year-old dog to have as much energy as our 4-year-old one does.
Slinky (resident dog-neutered-male) aged 4: My favorite thing about Sam is that he is available for adoption. If Sam had a human job it would be: proctologist. I hope Sam's new owner feeds Sam enough. Even though he is annoying, he just wants to be friends, and no dog deserves to be starved - like Sam was.
Update from foster mom: Sam is enjoying life with a family, although he is really struggling to be calm and relax. He spends a lot of time pacing and seeking attention. He is not destroying anything, although he really likes an old couch pillow, which we are letting him keep. He carries it around but hasn't torn it up or taken anything else that he should not have.
Sam is very eager to please and responds to a sharp, no. He has had zero training and is starting to understand that he needs to "sit" to be served dinner. Sam is housebroken and he is fine when left alone at home in a crate - handled an 8 hour day without issue. He is dramatic and vocal when crated while his people are home because he wants to be with them. Sam has accepted that he is not permitted to be in the humans' beds or on the couch. He is having a harder time realizing that the resident dog doesn't like him "like that." That issue should improve after Sam is neutered. On a positive note, he accepts rejection well.
Sam walks nicely on a leash. He has met a males and females of all ages and sizes and done well with a variety of personalities. He would likely do well with a bossy female or any dog that wouldn't meet his exuberance with aggression. Sam has shown no interest in chasing rabbits or squirrels, when they are around, so it seems likely that he would be okay with a cat.
Sam is an all around friendly guy, who will 100% do well with training, consistency, and that all important trip to the vet.
Meet AWESOME Sam! Guess what---I know sit, stay, paw, down and I come when called! Some friends took me out for the day and they discovered I know all of these commands and more! I know how to speak on command and if you ask me to smile I will give you one bark—its’ not really a smile because I don’t show my pretty teeth but it is so cute J Someone loved me so much that they spent a lot of time training me.
My friend took me to a horse show and I was out and about with horses, people and other dogs. I was even polite to those little dogs that don’t really look like dogs to me J I was amazing and she was so impressed with me. She took a photo of me hanging out with a horse. I am good with cats too! Neither one of my new friends can take their dogs out in public—LOL! I rode great in the car with my friend and I was so good on a leash at the horse show. Most dogs can’t do what I did that day.
I am over the top impressive with the STAY command---I stayed with tons of distractions in my friend’s back yard. There were people walking down the street with dogs, joggers, lawn mowers buzzing around but I STAYED until I was released. Next they did a series of recalls with me just to make sure that I would come when called. I came every single time they called me---they tried to trick me and one hid on the side of house so I could not see her but I came when she called. Every single time I came to them the girls made me do a sit and then a down. They wanted to make sure that I was SUPER SMART and I am!!!!! The girls gave me treats for my impressive behavior and they discovered that I take treats gently. My mouth is super gentle and my new friend was so impressed---sometimes she calls her dog Jaws because he takes treats so hard which is so impolite. Then the girls pulled out the dog puzzles and I started to excel playing the Brick game by Nina Ottosson and then came the Bob-a-Lot which I got in a New York minute!
I am good with kids too! What’s not to like about me---come meet me! Everyone is special but I am super special because I am trained, housebroken, can go out in public, like people, cats and kids and I am very handsome and loveable!
Shelby
ADOPTED 07/22/2017!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Shelby came to us from a shelter with no prior information. She is quite confused with the changes and is somewhat scared. Our volunteers are working on helping her settle in and adjust.
She is reported as being good with other dogs.
Shelby will need a family who will help her adjust to her new life, give her guidance and consistency.
Diesel
ADOPTED 07/21/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Diesel is a very handsome, friendly young boy who was surrendered as his person fell on hard times. He was very much loved and is greatly missed by his former person. He is playful, full of young energy and enjoys to swim. He has some manners to learn, but nothing that a good training program can't help with.
Updates:Diesel is a handsome, sweet, and young pup eager to play, learn, and loves good pets! When we first brought him home, all he wanted to do was play with our pocket shepherd (40lb mix). Being so young, he is surprisingly gentle when playing. This is true when walking him as well! Very good on the lead and doesn't pull. If he gets a little ahead, a little tug of the collar will get him focused back to you and the walk.
He loves treats and will sit and command down for them. This morning we worked on "place" training, rewarding him with food. We also practiced heel/stop sit in the house. He caught on so quickly! This mental stimulation has already wiped him out before 9AM. Structure has been key and he is responding so well to it just within a day of having him.
So far we can say he is fully housebroken. He is a little underweight so we are giving him structured opportunities to eat, with praise and within the crate.
If you want young, pure GSD, he is the one! At 90 pounds (and counting) he is ready to find his forever home. I mean just look at those ears. How could you not want to take him home!
Grizzly
ADOPTED 07/21/2017!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 10
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Grizzly is the son of Apache and the brother to Keena. Grizzly does best with another dog as they help him relax. He is somewhat shy, he will require someone with patience and who will work on helping him build his confidence. Training will go along way and certainly help with him getting use to being on a leash. He is a sweet boy just a little unsure, it is obvious he was not well socialized, but with your help he should blossom.
Cagney
ADOPTED 07/17/2017!
Good With Kids: No
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Cagney landed in a shelter as a stray and no one came looking for her. She has done well with other dogs she has met and has been friendly with people she has met. She is a petite young girl who needs to gain a little weight. Training will go a long way for Cagney, as it does for all of our dogs. It is important that a bond is created between the dog and their handler/family. It helps you both learn more about each other and teaches good canine manners.
Updates:Cagney has been in her foster home for a few weeks now and is settling in nicely. She loves toys and will bring them to her handler and drop them at his feet. She's been working on her social skills with her foster with dogs, cats & humans. She will need an experienced handler who will give her a structured environment. She gets along well with the other dogs in the foster home when its a toy-free environment. She's still got some work to do on her leash manners but that's because she's been working so hard on her social skills. She's improving with cats, but cannot be trusted at this time. Cagney loves people and dogs, but she's unsure about trusting them. Her foster will continue to work with her and building her trust with new people.
Jackie
ADOPTED 07/15/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Jackie is a beautiful 1 1/2 yr old female GSD. She was surrendered to us as the other dog in the house would not accept her. In her best interest the family reached out to us so that Jackie could find a new home and family. She lived with children in her prior home and enjoyed playing with them. Jackie is somewhat timid and will take time to become comfortable with her new family and surroundings. She likes to take things slowly and seems to bond quicker with women then she does men. The family that surrendered her to us rescued her after she was dumped in their yard late at night, so we have no history as to what happened to her prior to the last few weeks. She loves hotdogs which quickly will win her over when she is feeling overwhelmed. She just arrived in our care so she is still getting use to her new living arrangements and foster.
Angie
ADOPTED 07/15/2017!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Angie was adopted in 2013 and recently returned after her family could no longer provide for her. She’s confident, friendly and outgoing.
Though she is currently overweight due to a thyroid condition, we are working on slimming her down. She has an interest in playing ball but does not have a lot of stamina at this time. But we’re confident this will change. She likes to go for leisurely walks and heels well on leash. She also likes to ride in the vehicle and does so very quietly.
She’s had some obedience training and knows German commands. Once she gets to know you, she loves to give kisses.
Because of her hypothyroid condition (low thyroid), she is on medication and will be for the rest of her life. This will require periodic bloodwork to check her response to the medication. The cost of her medication is very reasonable and is administered via a very small pill given twice daily with her food. This is a condition that is typically very simple to treat and regulate.
http://www.peteducation.com/ar
Right now, we are re-familiarizing ourselves with her and will update you as we learn more about her. But at this time, she will only be placed in an adult home with no other dogs or cats.
Angie is loving all the attention she is getting! She happily greets all of us who are working with her and taking care of her.
Most recently, we set up a small plastic children's pool and she went right in, playing with her ball and splashing around. So knowing that she likes the water, we introduced her to the ground pool. As you can see, she likes that one, too! Swimming is a great source of exercise for her and she enjoys retrieving her toy in the water.
Do you happen to have a pool and are looking for a really nice female shepherd?
Angie is doing fabulous with her new exercise regimen and diet!
She's losing some weight and is enjoying all the activity, frequently swimming, going for walks and playing ball. She just loves squeaker balls.
Angie's got a lot of personality and is such a joy to be with whether we are exercising or just hanging out relaxing in the shade. She's happy to do either so as long as she can be with you as she is eager to please.
Check out Angie's latest photo! We recently introduced her to
some agility equipment. She walked up the catwalk with no hesitation
whatsoever and sat for us just as pretty as she could to show off her
new slimmer physique! She is a happy girl who is feeling great!
Saphire
ADOPTED 07/09/2017!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Saphire came to us from a shelter with no known history.
She is a beautiful young friendly girl. She does know some basic commands, walks well on a leash and enjoys time with people.
Saphire does need to lose some weight, with proper diet and exercise this will be achieved.
Updates:Sapphire has happily settled in to life on the farm with her foster.
She is a smart, happy, and friendly girl who enjoys walks around the farm, has successfully met the horses and several other dogs, and has been sweet and friendly with all of the humans she has met.
She needs some exercise to help her lose some weight, so is perfect for someone who likes to walk with a girl who is well-behaved on a leash, curious about her surroundings, and a pleasure to have around.
She is crate-trained but seldom needs to be in the crate, since she seems to be well house-broken. She is content laying at your feet when in the room with you, but jumps right up and is ready to go when you want to head outside.
Sapphire’s foster doesn’t have any young children, so she can’t comment on how she will be with children, but she has been very friendly with all the people she’s met so far.
If you are looking for a sweet family dog with a great start on good manners, please ask to meet Sapphire.

Sam was adopted from a shelter, his new family took him for board and train but never came back for him. He ended up back in the shelter looking for another chance.
He is young, playful and full of energy. He would benefit from training, guidance and lots of exercise.

Ebony came to us with her brother Nero. We do not have any history on them. Ebony is somewhat scared with all of the changes in her life. She gets along well with other dogs. She is a puppy and will require patients, guidance, training, ongoing socialization with people and other dogs. Helping build her confidence will go a long way.
Updates:Ebony has settled nicely into her foster home. She is working on housetraining, but she is not there yet. She really likes the resident dogs and would love to find a family with another playful pup to keep her company. She is good with the cats - mostly she ignores them, but sometimes she chases them (she just wants to play). She is still a little bit scared on walks, although having her "big sister" GSD along makes it a lot less scary. She is affectionate and playful and eager to please. She will be quick to learn obedience skills. Right now her foster is building some confidence and teaching her that new things don't have to be scary. If Ebony sounds like the dog for you please ask to meet this sweet girl.

Chet was picked up as a stray in MD. He waited at the shelter for his family but no one came to claim him. Chet has put that sad life behind him and is now ready for his forever family- one who will never abandon him.
Updates:Chet is understandably confused after being returned due to no fault of his own. Chet is a nice dog, pretty easy to handle and corrects pretty easily. Chet appears to be responsive and eager to please. If Chet sounds like he could be a good match for your family, please ask to meet him.
Chet has fun with his girlfriends
Chet is a complete sweetie! He loves all people and getting belly rubs. Chet is a big, strong boy who has greatly improved his leash manners and knows that it is not appropriate to pull on the leash when he walked. Chet absolutely loves going for walks! He is currently learning how to act properly when we come across other dogs on walks by not pulling and barking. Chet loves being the only dog in his foster home and would prefer to keep it that way when adopted. He seems to really enjoy time out on the deck just siting and people watching. He is crate trained during the day and gets free roam of the house at night when he sleeps. He has excellent house manners and makes no attempt to get into anything that he shouldn't. If Chet sounds like the perfect pup for your family, ask to meet him now.

Foxy
ADOPTED 06/24/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Foxy landed herself in a shelter after her family would not care for her or comply with animal control. She waited at the Animal Shelter for a month, hoping her former owners would fix their fence and bring her home, but they never did. Foxy is an energetic friendly little girl whose enthusiasm for walks and play makes her seem much younger than five. Sweet Foxy is ready for a forever home that will give her lots of walks and belly rubs. Foxy needs a patient owner as she is understandably anxious and will need someone to set calm boundaries for her, her while she settles into home life again.
Foxy loves meeting new people. She has been wonderful with children and responded to a child stepping on her paw by crying and showing her belly. She was clearly housebroken, but after such a long time in a kennel she should stay on a leash or crate inside, until she develops a routine of going outside. Foxy knows basic commands and rides nicely in a car. She is working on not pulling on a leash, but is not too hard to walk because she pays attention her handler. Foxy is pushy, barky, and very forward with other dogs. She is very frightened if a dog approached her while she is crated. Foxy will need to work on socialization with dogs as she greets other dogs by jumping on them. Foxy could live with another dog who does not want to dominate her and enjoys energetic play. Taking her to obedience class outside would be ideal, so she can learn to listen around other dogs, while having some space. Foxy is good in her foster house. She hasn’t chewed anything inappropriate and doesn’t mess with food on the counter or bother the trash. She is learning to stay off the couch and would certainly try to join her new owner in bed for a cuddle, if not instructed otherwise.
Foxy would be a great fit for someone who lives in an urban/suburban setting. She would be fine in an apartment. Foxy needs to be on a leash at all times outside; she has jumped a four-foot fence, for fun, and is clearly willing to dig a tunnel if bored. Foxy is going to be someone’s shadow and very best friend. If Foxy sounds like a good fit for your family, please ask to meet her.
Foxy has been in her foster home for a month now and loves being a pet, who lives indoors with her family and not left alone in the yard. Although she has a prior history of running, it seems likely that she was running away because she was bored and lonely. She does not try to rush out of doors or escape from the car. she is very committed to being with her family at all times. her only attempts to get out of the house have been to jump in the car and make sure that she's not left behind on the trip. Foxy is very agile and smart. She demonstrates good sensibilities about barking at strangers on the property, but not at every single person who passes the house on the sidewalk.
Foxy absolutely adores children and has happily attended all sorts of sporting events and made lots of friends. She enjoys getting baths and has a remarkable amount of energy for a five-year-old dog. Foxy had recurrent ear infections in her prior life, which caused scar tissue buildup in one of her ears. She requires a weekly ear cleaning, which can be done at home with an affordable medication. She loves having her ears cleaned and every other imaginable kind of touching.
She's getting along great with the resident dog, who is a super laid-back male. But she needs training to learn to not bark at other dogs. In just a month she reliably comes when she is called, sits when told to, and will drop something on command – unless it's a slice of pizza. If you love pizza; have always wanted a stalker who sits and pants, just outside of the bathroom door; and enjoy dogs in Halloween costumes Foxy is your girl.

Apache is a beautiful Black and Tan bi-color female Shepherd. She is the mother to Grizzly and Keena.
She is a friendly, loving girl who rolls over belly rubs any chance she gets. She needs some work on his leash skills and of course training to teach her good K-9 manners. We have no prior history on her so we do not know how she is with children or cats.

While in our care she has met children, covering them in kisses.
She does have energy and can be jumpy but settles down nicely.

Maya found herself at a shelter for reasons unknown. She now has another chance at a better life. She is very sweet and laid back. She has good manners and walks nicely on a leash.
Updates:Prior to coming to MAGSR, Maya endured a trama to her back left leg which resulted in a torn ACL. As a result, Maya underwent a TPLO, or tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy, in early July. Maya came through the surgery well and has been an amazing patient throughout the recovery process. At this time, Maya is participating in weekly physical therapy appointments where she regularly draws a crowd due to her fun-loving personality and beautiful face. Although Maya is not yet ready to be running around chasing a ball or playing with her foster siblings, she is looking for a forever home. As a young, energetic girl, Maya is looking for a family that will help her finish up her recovery, as well as, provide her with a the love, exercise, and training that all dogs need to become good canine citizens. If Maya sounds like a good match for you family, please ask to meet her today.
As Maya's care has been both important and expensive, donations towards her treatment would be greatly appreciated. These donations help us offset costs so that we can save other dogs with medical needs.

Khloe was in a shelter hoping someone would give her a second chance at life. That we did, but we are only the first step on her journey, a new family will complete that journey. She is emaciated, but has been putting on weight with the help of good nutrition and regular meals. She is a nice girl who just needs someone that will care for and love her. Could that be you?
Updates:Khloe has been in her foster home for a week now and is settling in nicely and starting to build up her confidence. Khloe is very smart and she's picking up obedience commands quickly, but she's still working on her focus because she can be easily distracted by her surroundings. If Khloe sounds like a dog that may work well in your family, please ask to meet her.

April's life is forever changed, thanks to those who saved her from horrid and unsafe living conditions. It is amazing that with all that April has endured she is so incredibly sweet and wants to be loved and properly cared for. April deserves a family who will provide a wonderful life for her, one full of love and a commitment for her lifetime.
Updates:Lovely April is a remarkable girl. Like many pups before her, April seems to know she has been rescued and will never be subjected to the horrible conditions from which she survived. She enjoys the company of everyone she meets and seems grateful to anyone who notices her. April tends to take most things in stride. Having to learn the ins and outs of a new home can be unnerving; however, April seems excited to have the opportunity to enjoy the good life. She has discovered the joy of a good bone, soft bed, and plenty of toys. Living with other dogs, April is slowly learning the ins and outs of pack life. We are very impressed with her playful nature. April is goofy yet affectionate. She will happily sit for as long as you'll allow while you rub her beautiful ears. If this amazingly girl sounds like a match for your family, please inquire about her today.
I have spent some time with April the last two Saturdays. Her behavior has been great both days. Yesterday she patiently sat in her "run" while I leashed her up, even though another dog had been brought into the kennel area and they were all barking about it. She is eager to please and knows quite a few commands, sit, down, an elementary stay, and come. It has been easy to get her attention. She takes treats gently, loves to have her ears rubbed and can be a leaner. She has also been fine about other dogs being in her general area while we are out and about in the field. We are working on leash walking, she wants to pull ahead a bit, but no lunging. She is content to walk, work on commands, be brushed or just chill out by the picnic table.

Sugar is a gorgeous young white female Shepherd. It is obvious that no one took the time to teach her anything or ever walked her on leash. Our volunteers are working with her on leash manners. She is a high energy girl who will need an active family. Training will go along way in teaching acceptable behavior and manners.

Sebastian

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Sebastian found himself in a shelter hoping someone would give him the chance at a second life. He was heartworm positive but has undergone treatment. He is somewhat unsettled with all of the changes in his life, but with time he will settle in.
Updates:Sebastian warms up to people quickly, he follows you wherever you go, and lays down near you, and craves attention all the time. He does have separation issues, needs a secure crate until he gets over his separation issues. He is housebroken, does know basic commands but needs more training. He seems good around kids. He does interact well with other dogs. At night time, if you're around, he does go into his crate and stays there all night with no issues.
Sebastian has settled in nicely to the household routine. He is a sweet, easy-going, well-behaved dog. He enjoys a game of fetch as well as just chilling out close to his favorite human. He welcomes attention and cuddles, and does not like getting left behind. He knows basic commands but could use some reinforcement. He walks well on a leash, will pull when excited but correct easily. He is anxious to make friends with every dog and human he meets. He will make a great companion for someone who has the time to give him.
