Sally and her Cars Puppies were rescued in the south by another group. As they wanted to do right by this lovely family, they began reaching out to other groups who would be able to support the family until they were ready to find forever homes of their own. When asked to welcome this family into the MAGSR family, we immediately said yes.

Carla is a bundle of energy and joy. She is cute as a button and brings happiness to everyone around her. Well socialized in her foster home, Carla is a match for a household with kids, cats, or other dogs. Although Carla's foster family has given her an excellent start, it is imperative that they continue to keep Carla well socialized. This will help her develop into a stable adult. Although Carla is absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Carla will develop into the good canine citizen that we know she is destined to become. If this little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Carla has a great personality. She is friendly and playful and curious just like a 2 month old puppy should be. She loves to run and play with toys. She is a great eater. She is very smart as well, she is learning her name and even occasionally will sit on command.  She now quietly sleeps through the night and can go 6 hours in her crate overnight without any accidents (we still walk her frequently during the day). She is a very sweet puppy, a total snuggler and loves to be around people.

Update: Courage is Heartworm Free and he has healed from his knee surgery.  Courage is having so much fun running, playing and being a normal dog after many months of being on restrictive care.  This handsome guy is ready for his furever home!  Please call to meet him!

Sometimes we all need a Christmas miracle and for Courage that miracle couldn't come soon enough. Courage was found near a vacant building with significant wounds to his paws and legs. Based upon his injuries, Courage was likely hit by or tossed from a car. In need of immediate care, he was quickly brought to a shelter for help. Shelter staff did everything they could to help Courage, but they recognized that he needed additional help from a private vet and fast. When a plea went out for help, MAGSR stepped in to grant Courage's Christmas wish.

Courage is in a significant amount of pain. However, he remains gentle and friendly. At this time, Courage is unable to bear full weight on one of his back legs and has several deep wounds on his legs and feet. These wounds look infected and are significantly impacting his ability to move easily. Fortunately, MAGSR has a phenomenal vet working with Courage already. He is getting x-rays completed, wound care, antibiotics, and pain medication. Over the next few days we will have a better idea of the full extent of Courage's medical needs. However, no matter what the prognosis MAGSR will be by his side every step of the way. Although Courage will receive all of the love and care he needs to recover, MAGSR needs help making his Christmas wish come true. Please consider donating to his care so that MAGSR can continue to help dogs like Courage this holiday season.

Courage's wounds are healing nicely and he can even walk up and down the stairs in his foster home to sleep with his foster family in their bedroom. In his foster care he has experienced other dogs and is a NO for cats. He would prefer another dog or GSD that is playful in his forever home but he could be an only dog. He has a sweet, playful personality and loves to roll on his back for belly rubs. He likes a Kong ball but is currently restricted to having it in his crate due to being heartworm positive. He loves to be 'outside' and he is an expert sniffer like most shepherds and then some!  Even though his outside time is restricted, it is evident that he will need to improve his leash walking skills. He does recognize some basic commands but will need to attend a training class and then practice his newly learned skills. Courage seems to be familiar with noises, activities and rules of living in a house. He has not had any accidents in the house and sleeps fairly quiet at night except for changing his sleep position. He loves to be with his people and would love to be your lap or couch dog if allowed. Courage is a handsome boy with a great personality and should fit in with most families with older children.

Updates:

Courage is making progress in his foster home and has come a long way since he joined his foster family. He is calm and relaxed in the house most of the day except at meal times when he gets very excited and will talk up a storm but will be calmer when kept close by on the leash. He is quiet in his crate at night and while on crate rest due to his heartworm treatment or when the fosters leave the house. He is also very calm and happy looking out the storm doors to observe dogs, people and other activities.

When he first arrived at his foster home he started mouthing when being leashed up, getting belly or head rubs and also exercising his leg during rehab. He is starting to understand that this behavior is not acceptable and has been much better not mouthing. His mouthing doesn't seem aggressive at all but more of a reaction of being handled by someone and him protesting as he most likely never had any training and got away with this kind of behavior. He is now much better and not mouthing when getting leashed, routine exercises and handling.

He is a Thief extraordinaire and he will grab anything available and will snatch a napkin or paper towel right out of your hand or off the counter. And he is an expert counter surfer; nothing is safe within reach if you leave him unattended for just a moment and that's about 5 seconds. He needs to be in the crate at any time you leave the room just to step outside and his antics make us laugh at how creative he can be snatching up the desired object but which he will quickly drop or ignore when given proper motivation.

He picks up random tennis balls left behind by other dogs when outside and he would probably love to run and retrieve them. He seems to remember to run free and play with a ball as he stares at the dogs in the neighborhood chasing the ball. There is a fun personality waiting to come out once he is allowed to engage in normal day to day activities again. And he has those sunshine brown eyes that are most expressive looking at you and are hard to resist.

Courage will be a great dog for the right family and he is ready for his furever family. He has almost recovered from his knee surgery and he is now going through his heartworm treatment with optimism towards his full recovery. He is used to his limited, short outings to do his business and he would rather chase squirrels and visit with the other dogs. Courage is looking forward to playing at full speed over time once all of his treatments are completed. He is keeping busy chewing on nyla bones and an occasional other chew. He is currently on house and crate rest and he is on limited training in the house to keep his mind engaged. He knows NO, SIT, COME, and we are working on DOWN, STAY and PLACE. Stay and place are something he will have to work on with his new family but he is very food and treat motivated so this will be helpful training him once he can fully engage in activities.. As all shepherds, this gorgeous, fun loving lad will need structure, patience and training with his new family and please ask to meet this handsome young boy... and yes, he is a BOY!

Courage has completed his heartworm (HW) treatment and his recent microfilaria test was negative. This is great news for him and he is ready to start another chapter in his life with more exercise and discover the world beyond crate & house rest and the limited walks he has had for months. Courage is excited to show off his personality; walking, running and playing; preferably with another 4legged playmate. This boy is ready to find just the right family and as stated in a previous post, he is a BOY dog and he does BURP! on a regular basis that just makes his fosters laugh. His sunshine eyes are expressive and he is ready to meet his new family and show what an amazing and fun dog he can be. And he will chase the Cicadas if he can get a hold of them!

Ideal/Potential Size: 60 lbs
Housebroken: Unknown

DESCRIPTION:

Cash is a handsome guy. He and another furry friend wandered up into a yard in the south and decided that it might be a nice place to stay. Fortunately, these dogs picked the right yard as the family immediately started looking for their family. Although they worked with animal control and local groups to find the dogs' family, no one claimed them. Another rescue was able to bring in Cash's buddy; however, with so many rescues at capacity, one was all they could bring in. When asked if we could bring Cash into rescue so he could move forward with a forever family, MAGSR immediately stepped forward.

As is typical of many young shepherds, Cash is playful, energetic, and looking for leadership. He does very well with a calm handler who can show him the ropes. A social guy, Cash enjoys the company of people of all ages. A big fan of toys and treats, Cash will be a star student in training class. Training is essential for all dogs as it helps them bond with their new families, as well as, develop the skills needed to become good canine citizens. Cash is looking for a family that will exercise his body and his mind on a daily basis. He will also benefit from regular socialization in order to build confidence and stability. If this handsome guy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!

DESCRIPTION:

Junior and his siblings were part of an accidental litter. His family loved him greatly and took good care of him and his siblings. However, as the puppies grew older, it became difficult to take care of so many dogs. Recognizing that Junior and his siblings would be better able to receive the care and attention they deserved if they were rehomed, Junior's owner made the difficult decision to surrender the group of siblings to MAGSR. We promised that we would find each member of the family safe and loving forever homes.

Junior is a love. He was well socialized in his home with kids and other dogs. However, his family struggled to find time to socialize him in the community. As a result, Junior can be a little timid with new people and in new places. Given time, patience, and guidance, Junior will develop the confidence he needs outside of the household. Just like any young dog, Junior will thrive with structure, routine and training. Training will help him to not only bond with his new family but also develop into the stable adult we know he is destined to be. If Junior sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today.

Updates:

Junior is a sweetheart that loves to be close to his human.  He is crate trained, housebroken and working on obedience.  He walks amazingly on a leash and would be a great walking companion with just a couple little tweaks.  Junior loves kids.  His favorite human in the house is the foster's daughter and her friends.  If you are looking for a loving family dog, this is your guy.  As you can see from his picture, he is just hanging out waiting for his forever home.

If you are looking for a sweet loving family dog then Junior is the one.  He loves all people and would welcome living in a home with another dog.  At his foster's he keeps the dad company during the day by laying at his feet under his desk while he works.  He loves snuggling, going for walks and helping his foster mom take care of the goats and chickens in the mornings. Junior is still not sure why the chickens need to follow him around on his walks :).  Junior has come a long way in his obedience, he will sit for his leash to be attached, he goes in the down position and walks nicely on the leash.  Since he is such a social butterfly, he does get excited when he sees other dogs but he is learning he needs to remain calm.  Junior is only a year old, so he would love to go running, long walks, playtime and of course snuggling with his human..  If he sounds like a fit, set up a meet and greet with this sweet boy.

DESCRIPTION:

Handsome Bandit was picked up as a stray in the south. Although he waited for his family to claim him, no one came looking. Recognizing that Bandit would be most successful in a foster home, a member of the shelter staff took Bandit in until he could find a place within a rescue. When we heard that Bandit needed help to move forward, we immediately welcomed him into the MAGSR family.

Bandit is a large and stable guy. Although he was on his own for a bit before arriving at the shelter, he had clearly been well socialized with people. As Bandit was the alpha of a pack when out on his own, he does better with female dogs. He can pass other male dogs and maintain his calm demeanor; however, he will be most successful in a household without other males. It is clear that Bandit has begun to learn some leash manners and is comfortable being handled. However, just like any new dog, he will benefit from training.  Training will go a long way with this handsome guy as it will not only help him bond with his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen.

Unfortunately, we have learned that Bandit is heartworm positive. This condition could have been avoided had he been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. MAGSR has begun his heartworm treatment and Bandit is doing well. The cost of his entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Bandit is clearly worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Bandit's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Bandit will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a friendly and stable guy, please ask to meet Bandit today.

DESCRIPTION:

Lovely River was dropped at a shelter in the south. Although the person that dropped her off didn't provide any information about this girl, it was very clear to the shelter director that River was special. So, she took River home as a foster until a rescue could be found. When we heard about River, we knew she would be a great addition to the MAGSR family.

River is a special girl. She is sweet, playful, and an absolute love. Although this little lady is a bit of a mover and shaker, she is happy to settle in for some attention. Enjoying the company of furry creatures whether they are big or small, River is good with dogs and cats. She is also comfortable around people of all ages. Although it seems she was socialized prior to her arrival at the shelter, it is highly evident that the foster home she was in continued to provide this socialization. River is looking for a forever home that will commit to her for a lifetime. She will thrive in a home that will provide her with structure, routine, and leadership. As is true of all dogs, training will go a long way with River as it will help her bond to her new family. It will also help her further develop into a good canine citizen. Murray is growing and learning so much.   He is crate trained, housebroken, knows sit and down and is learning to walk on a leash. He spends lots of time with his foster's grandchildren and is great with them. He has puppy energy but once he gets a nice walk or 30 minutes of playtime, he is ready for snuggles!   His foster said "Murray is one of the easiest puppies I’ve ever fostered and would be a great addition to any family"!    Let’s get this guy adopted!

DESCRIPTION:

Lovely Sierra was picked up as a stray. When she arrived at a shelter it was highly evident that this girl had been struggling to survive. Sierra was emaciated and infested with fleas that had caused a skin infection. As shepherds often struggle in shelters, Sierra needed help and fast. Vet care was quickly provided and this little lady immediately moved into MAGSR's care. Sierra enjoys the company of people and other dogs; however, she lacks confidence which can cause her to overbond to her people. As she moves forward, Sierra will benefit greatly from training; it will not only help her bond appropriately to her new family, but it will also help her learn to take cues from the handler. She will meet with greatest success in a household that has experience with the breed. We are still getting to know Sierra. As we know more about her, we will post updates. If Sierra sounds like a good match for your household, please ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Sierra has been a foster home for a few days and has proven she is a loving and faithful companion with the people she trusts.  She takes time to warm up to new people and does not like being approached but is highly food motivated and will come to you for that.  Sierra is an affectionate, intelligent, loyal girl who wants nothing more than to be with her person.  On the first day I received kisses and she was on her back enjoying belly rubs and all the pets!  She is housebroken and sleeps quietly through the night.  She does not get on furniture or chew things she should not.  She loves to play tug, go for walks, indulge in a marrow bone, and get lots of attention.  She is a sweet and sassy 1 yr old GSD and likes to romp around but gets overly excited and not quite sure how to play but with time that will improve. She will need time to adjust to other dogs and does ok if on leash and being monitored at this time.  Sierra is incredibly intelligent and has adapted quickly to her new living situation she knows sit, down, and come. She will do best in a home with GSD experience, one that is familiar with fear reactivity, and one that will provide a structured environment.  She has a proclivity to barrier reactivity and overly bonding to handler and can exhibit a negative reaction. Sierra will be attending board and train soon which will help work on her insecurities and become the amazing and obedient companion she can be.  This will be a huge plus for any adopter since Sierra's training package will come with her at adoption and the adopter will follow up with the private and group lessons that are paid for by MAGSR and if there are any setbacks the adopter can go back to training free of charge for the life of the dog!  Sierra continues to make progress everyday and an update will be posted upon completion of the board and train.  Sierra is a diamond in the ruff and will make the perfect addition to the right family.

Howdy folks, I have completed my board and train and am ready to WOW my future family with my skillz.  During training I met some cool humans who reminded me that being confident is good and that will benefit me in the long haul but being overly demanding and pushy is not the way to get what I want.  I had previously fought the leash and commands but now I know through consistency, repetition, leash pressure, hand signals and verbal commands what is being asked of me.  When communication is clear to me from my handler I excel.  Another thing I learned while at training was that being alone is okay and that I do not need to throw myself into a tizzy when people leave me.  Actually, I can be content to just chew my favorite bully stick or marrow bone in peace.  I still require a crate to help make me feel safe but it's not a bad place and I know now that bad things will not happen to me.  As for other dogs, I tolerate them but being the dominant dog that I am, if they do try to overstep the boundary, I react negatively.  This is why I do prefer to be the only child..... I mean dog.  Speaking of children I'm not sure what these creatures are but they make loud and unpredictable movements which scare me and when I'm afraid I revert back to my old habit of reacting.  At my young impressionable age I was not shown kindness or socialized with people and I'm just now figuring out that these humans can be good to me.  I am a snuggle bug but I will not get on furniture, I will however, lean into you and immediately roll on my back for belly rubs. I do that thing I hear the humans talk about, bonding.  I'm the epitome of the velcro dog and in a home environment I just need to know the human is in charge and I can follow their lead.  My intelligence, loyalty, confidence and affectionate personality are what draw humans to me but you need to know what your doing, or at least that's what I overheard the trainer humans say.  I will give you my very best when clearly communicated to, I need a handler who can give me structure, time, consistency and love.  When you adopt me you have the unique opportunity to complete my private training lessons and group lessons free of charge.  The quote "with great power, comes great responsibility" and that is precisely what you are being given with me.  Are you up to the challenge?

DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Ranger was brought to a local vet as his family decided that they wanted him euthanized. It was evident that Ranger needed some medical care for an untreated skin infection; however, staff members quickly recognized that this delightful guy deserved a chance at life with a family that would commit to him for a lifetime. Fortunately, they were able to convince Ranger's family to surrender him to them. Once safe, the vet staff immediately began addressing Ranger's needs.

Ranger had untreated skin issues that had caused a lot of hair-loss, flaking, and itchiness. It is believed that everything began with an allergy that when untreated and resulted in a secondary yeast/fungal infection that got out of hand. He has been given a course of antibiotics, steroids, and medicated baths which have already begun to have a positive impact. In addition to skin issues, sweet Ranger also had significant bilateral ear infections that have since been treated. Although his appearance may not match his impressive personality right now, we fully expect him to regrow his lovely coat.

Please consider donating to Ranger's care.

A stable and friendly guy, Ranger seems to enjoy the company of his people. He is a playful guy and will happily fetch a ball and drop it for another throw. A big fan of squeaky toys, Ranger smiles while he plays. Although he is still a little sensitive around his ears, which is likely due to the severity of his ear infections, Ranger loves attention and happily rewards his people with kisses. Once comfortable, he will ask for belly rubs as well. As a social guy, Ranger can be vocal at first when left alone but he quiets down quickly. Having had the opportunity to meet dogs of a variety of sizes and temperaments, Ranger's confident and easy-going personality wins everyone over. Ranger will need to continue to have regular baths to help his skin clear up and will need to be kept on a low ingredient food in order to keep his allergies in check. This sweet boy is looking for a family that will commit to loving him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?

DESCRIPTION:

Annika was returned to MAGSR's care after incidents with the other dog of the household, as well as the cat. She will be looking for a forever family where she can be the sole animal in the home to be the center of attention.

Annika is a beautiful young adult with a big personality. She is extremely intelligent and observant of her environment. She also forms strong bonds with her humans and is very affectionate. Annika will be protective of the house once she sees it as her place. She will thrive with a confident handler and structured training to bring out her potential, because she lives for meaningful interactions with her people. She is active and a jumper, and may be a candidate for agility training or other activities that engage her intelligence.

She loves tummy rubs and affection, walks, and interactive games. She learns quickly when pepperoni treats are on hand, and will even play a good game of hide and seek the treat. Annika likes her crate and is fully house trained. She walks well on the leash, learns commands quickly, loves car rides and exploring new environments like trails and parks.

If sweet Annika sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Annika continues to practice and learn commands - including sit, stay, lie down, go to bed (she runs into her crate), go find (hide and seek treats), and when waiting for the walk signal at intersections she’ll sit with a snap of the fingers. With a few taps to your shoulder she’ll snuggle up and fall asleep. She loves her humans and is forever ready for a walk, demonstrating excellent leash walking manners (until a squirrel crosses her path, but who could blame her for wanting to catch one?). She has no problem meeting other dogs on walks, she simply doesn’t wish to live with them. Annika is thoroughly house trained, staying at home for hours on her own snoozing on the couch until it’s time to greet you at the door with eager tail wags.

DESCRIPTION:

Sir Albert and his siblings were part of an accidental litter. His family loved him greatly and took good care of him and his siblings. However, as the puppies grew older, it became difficult to take care of so many dogs. Recognizing that Sir Albert and his siblings would be better able to receive the care and attention they deserved if they were re-homed, Sir Albert's owner made the difficult decision to surrender the group of siblings to MAGSR. We promised that we would find each member of the family safe and loving forever homes.

Sir Albert is a love. He was well socialized in his home with kids and other dogs. However, his family struggled to find time to socialize him in the community. As a result, Sir Albert can be a little timid with new people and in new places. Given time, patience, and guidance, Sir Albert will develop the confidence he needs outside of the household. Approximate Age: 4 years 5 months

Current Size: 55 lbs

Good With Kids: Unknown

DESCRIPTION:

Lovely Lady and her brother Roscoe were part of a litter of puppies that were bred for sale. When she did not catch the eye of potential buyers, her owner kept her on the property for potential breeding when she was older. Although given food and water, Lady's owner did not provide her with adequate shelter, socialization, or vetting care. When her living conditions were discovered, another rescuer worked with Lady's owner to have her and her brother surrendered to MAGSR.

Lady is in many ways your typical young GSD. She is playful, curious, and energetic. Although she does need a little time to warm up to new people. Lady's delightful personality quickly shines through. She easily wins you over with her puppy antics. As Lady was previously kept outdoors with a metal shed for shelter, she has not had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a comfortable household and a soft bed. Her new family will need to slowly introduce her to the household so that she has time to adjust. As is true with all dogs, Lady will thrive in a household where she has structure, routine, and leadership. This will help her develop the stability and confidence that all dogs need to be successful. Daily exercise and interaction will also contribute to Lady's success. If this lovely little girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!

DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Zinnia and her little family were dumped and forced to fend for themselves. Fortunately, a good samaritan found this little group of puppies and quickly brought them to the safety of a shelter. Although they presented as typical puppies on arrival, unfortunately, within a few days these babies broke with parvo. This horrifying virus takes so many young lives too soon. An immediate plea was sent out for help. With the support of an amazing team of veterinarians and a kind donor, MAGSR was able to get this little family the help they needed. Against the odds, all three little fighters survived.

Having survived parvo, Zinnia is a super puppy. She cannot ever contract this horrible disease again. Ready to move onto a life of love, cuddles, and safety, Zinnia cannot wait to meet her forever family.

Although Zinnia is beyond sweet, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require an endless amount of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, get into things, and chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, guidance, and training, Zinnia will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If Zinnia sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Zinnia is waiting patiently for her permanent invitation to your family cookouts! She is so smart and incredibly kind in every aspect. She bonds fiercely to her human and will do whatever is asked of her; like leave a pile of cookies alone for a cute picture. She is a playful girl who loves to hide her toys to save them for a rainy day. We’ve been practicing her potty training skills and she’s almost got them mastered!! She knows basic commands and listens well for a baby dog. She loves playing in the water so bathing is easy and she doesn’t mind getting a pedicure. She has done excellent around babies and is gentle so would love her own kids to love!

Although Chip Gearings' foster family has given him an excellent start, it is imperative that his new family continues to keep Chip Gearings well socialized. This will help him develop into a stable adult. Although Chip Gearings is absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Updates:

Chip is a very sweet boy. He is a Velcro dog for sure. He is great with my young (2 and 3 yo) grandchildren. Living with  his foster he is getting crate trained, he will bark/cry for a few minutes before he settles down.  He sleeps through the night but wakes up early as is normal because he is a puppy and has to go potty.  He is making strides with housebreaking and walking on a leash. If you are looking for an adorable sweet boy who loves his human, this guy is for you.

D.W.'s family abandoned her in a culvert. Fortunately, an amazing family heard her cries and rescued her. Although they quickly recognized that D.W. is a very special girl, they knew that she needed a family that could provide her with the time and attention she deserved. As a result, they started reaching out to the rescue community for help. Fortunately, the right people heard of D.W.'s need and contacted MAGSR. The rest is history.

D.W.'s first two years likely lacked the structure, consistency, and attention that all shepherds crave. Fortunately, once in MAGSR's care, D.W. was placed in an amazing foster home that worked with her on a daily basis. Living with a pack of dogs of varied ages and sizes, D.W. had the opportunity to begin developing social skills in a controlled manner. Additional opportunities to socialize in a wide variety of environments were also provided. This has helped D.W. more effectively interact with new people in a variety of situations. Although D.W. is moving forward with a solid foundation of skills, it will be necessary that her new family continue to work with her to further support her social skills with humans and dogs. D.W. is a lovely and active dog. She will thrive in a household that will exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. Training is an essential next step for D.W. as it will not only help her bond to her forever family but it will also help her develop into a stable and confident canine citizen. If D.W. sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet this special girl today.

DESCRIPTION:

Handsome Harry and his housemates, Megan and Diana, were confiscated from their owner.  Although all three dogs get along with one another, it appears that Harry and Diana are closer to one another. They have relied on one another for comfort and safety and clearly enjoy the companionship of another dog. When confiscated, it was clear to animal control officers that these three were not well cared for or socialized around other people. As a result, they all require some time to adjust to new people and situations.

When provided with patience, confidence, and leadership, Harry's interactive and affectionate personality begins to shine. It is simply amazing how a dog that has gone through so much is willing to give people another chance to earn his trust.  In the same circumstances, Diana becomes more interactive and begins to trust her handlers. She does best when given the opportunity to warm up slowly to new people. Having survived a difficult situation, we have been impressed with her continued attempts to trust people. With the right family, Harry and Diana will excel. As is true of all dogs, Harry and Diana will benefit from training.

We are confident that with the right family, Harry & Diana will excel. Both of them, like all dogs, will benefit from training. This will not only help him bond to their new family, but it will also help them develop into good canine citizens. If your household sounds like the right match for this incredible pair, please ask to meet them today.

Updates:

After arriving in MAGSR's care, it became quite apparent to our volunteers that Harry and Diana would be best placed in a home together. These two beautiful pups have survived a life of neglect. However, they seem to find comfort and safety when together. Each of them contributes to their relationship and helps the other learn to adjust to new people and situations. Although it takes some time and patience to gain their trust, Harry and Diana are definitely food motivated. High-value treats are always welcome and seem to help when building trust. Once comfortable, Harry and Diana enjoy affection and definitely have the "shepherd lean" down pat. If your family has room for two, please consider opening your home to this special pair.

Harry and Diana are housebroken, crate trained, they don't get on furniture or beg for food.  They enjoy their daily walks but can't wait to get back home.  As they have become more comfortable in their foster home they are building more confidence and have started to play.  Harry's safe place is in his crate and that is where he likes to go to sleep at night but in the morning his fosters find him sleeping on the rug next to Diana.    They share their dinner and breakfast by going from one bowl to the other.  Diana likes all the attention, if Harry is getting some lovin, she will come over and try to bump him out of the way.  These two are very laid back, if you are looking for a loving bonded pair of dogs contact us.  We would love to have you meet them.

DESCRIPTION:

Zane was surrendered by his family as an elderly member of the family became ill and required daily support in the home, Zane struggled with the constant in and out of strangers in his home. Recognizing that this change in situation is likely a long term, his family made the decision to surrender him to MAGSR.

Zane is an intelligent and energetic guy. He has lived previously with older children and dogs his size or larger. Having previously lived in a household, Zane knows many of the basic household rules already. Crate trained, housebroken, and knows several commands, Zane is a smart and driven guy. Although he enjoys moving sneakers about the house, Zane doesn't destroy items in the household but does enjoy rearranging them.  As is true of most shepherds, Zane can be protective of his household and needs time and proper introductions to strangers when they are in his household.

When Zane entered the rescue, it was very evident that he was handshy due to abuse. This caused him to react quickly to hand movements. Recognizing that Zane would need additional support in order to move forward, MAGSR has been working with K9 Koncepts to support Zane over the last few months. During this time, Zane has benefitted from a board and train program where he has learned all of his commands and has been working to desensitize him to hand movements. Zane is best suited for a home with previous GSD experience. His new family would continue working with K9 Koncepts to learn about his training and commands. This training is already covered by MAGSR. Zane is looking for a family that will provide him with the guidance, leadership, and safety that all dogs deserve. Is your home the right fit?

Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Tia will develop into the good canine citizen that we know she is destined to become. If this little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.

Sweet Moose lived with a family. Unfortunately, they were unable to provide him with basic vetting care which resulted in Moose contracting parvo. As this horrifying disease takes so many lives too soon, Moose needed help and fast. Although Moose's family loved him, they could not afford his care and brought him to a shelter. Fortunately, the shelter found the resources to get Moose the life saving care he needed. Having overcome the odds, shelter staff knew that Moose deserved a loving forever home. When they reached out to MAGSR for help, we immediately stepped forward.

Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
Good With Cats: Likely

DESCRIPTION:

Kaito's family loved him dearly. However, due to a sudden change in circumstances, they were no longer able to care for him. As Kaito's family wanted him to find a safe and loving forever home, they surrendered him to a rescue.

Kaito is a big, interactive, and energetic guy. Having previously lived in a busy household with small dogs and older kids, Kaito enjoys the company of others. However, he is a big guy so he would be best suited for older children. Kaito is social and enjoys the company of other people; however, he needs time to adjust to new people. He is responsive to calm and confident handlers. Kaito's family clearly did a nice job giving him opportunities to socialize with other dogs and meet with success in new situations. Kaito, just like all GSDs, will thrive when provided with structure, leadership, and routine. Food and toy motivated, Kaito loves to learn new skills and will be a star in training class. Starting training with Kaito will help him not only bond with his new family, but it will also help him develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to be. Kaito is looking for a forever family that will provide him with a safe and loving forever home as well as a lot of belly rubs. Could that be with you?

Updates:

Kaito is thriving in his foster home!  He has proven to be a happy go lucky boy who loves the company of other dogs and humans.  He finds solace in his crate and will go in there just to relax with the door left open. He sleeps through the night quietly in his crate and waits patiently in the morning to be let outside to potty.  He takes treats gently and has not shown any food or toy aggression.  At first Kaito did not know how to do the steps in the house but is such a smart boy that in a 24 hours period had them mastered with some coaxing with cheese. He loves to run around the yard with the other dogs and is learning how to play fetch.  He loves things that squeak and is especially fond of his pink ball and orange chicken.  In the house he will play with his stuffed toys by tossing them in the air and trying to catch them or dropping them in your lap for you to throw.  Speaking of lap he thinks he is a lap dog and will try to squeeze into whatever space you give him.  From time to time he may require a stern no if he gets overly excited and starts mouthing which has improved greatly in his time in a foster home.  He loves to be pet and while doing so he will slowly slink down your leg and onto his back for belly rubs.  He engages politely with the other 2 resident dogs and is learning how to play with them.  Kaito is welcoming to people who come in the house but from a distance will bark to let them know he is there protecting the house.  Since Kaito is a big boy and strong he will need someone who can handle him.  Kaito wants nothing more than to find a family to share his joy and love with. Ask to meet Kaito today!

DESCRIPTION:

Handsome Murphy was found hanging out at a high school with his buddy Millie. Both dogs were brought to a shelter where they waited for a family to claim them. When no one came forward, the shelter staff started pleading for rescue support as they were at capacity. Who could say no to such sweet dogs?

Murphy is a playful and energetic guy. He is friendly and good with both people and other dogs. However, he can be vocal with new dogs when first meeting them. As a young guy, Murphy has energy to burn and will do best in a home that can exercise his mind and his body on a daily basis. Arriving as a stray, we do not know what Murphy knows about living in a household. However, he seems to be a quick learner who wants to please his handler. As is true of all dogs, Murphy will thrive when provided with guidance, leadership, and consistency. Training will help him adjust to his new family as well as develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Murphy is looking for a forever family that will love and care for him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?

DESCRIPTION:

Camelot had a rough start in life. He was purchased to be a guard dog and kept outside. Living his life on a chain, Camelot would escape from time to time. His punishment was days in a crate outside with little to no food or water. Fortunately, a kind person recognized that Camelot needed help and fast. They stepped forward to get this sweet guy to safety. Although his rescuers did everything they could to give Camelot a fresh start, these good samaritans recognized that Camelot would have his best chance at finding the perfect forever home if he were placed with a rescue. When asked if we could help Camelot move forward, we were happy to welcome him into the MAGSR family.

Camelot is a big, beautiful boy. Although he has suffered in his past, he is ready to move forward with a loving family who will always provide him with a safe home. A social guy, Camelot enjoys the company of people and other dogs. As is true of all young dogs, Camelot has good energy and would love a family to help him exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. Camelot loves to play ball and hopes his new family does too. He will keep you entertained with his antics. True of all shepherds, Camelot will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. Training will be key to his success. Not only will training help Camelot bond to his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen.

We have learned that Camelot is heartworm positive. This condition could have been avoided had he been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. MAGSR has begun his heartworm treatment and Camelot is doing well. The cost of his entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Camelot is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating  toward Camelot's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Camelot will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If Camelot sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

DESCRIPTION:

Lovely Boo was found suffering on the side of the road by a work crew. Recognizing that this girl needed help and fast, they contacted a local rescue who quickly came to Boo's aid. Rushed immediately to the vet, it was clear that Boo was malnourished, covered in a demodex mange, and had already contracted heartworm. She was weak from all of the neglect she had endured. Although Boo immediately began receiving much needed care, it was clear that she would need to be transferred to a rescue who could continue to support Boo as she grew stronger. When asked to welcome Boo into the MAGSR family, we immediately stepped up to help her.

Although Boo has clearly endured a lot in her short life, she is an absolute sweetheart. Everyone who has met Boo has been amazed by her gentle personality. Somewhat timid with new people and situations, Boo will do best in a household that will provide her with the time, patience, and leadership to adjust to her new home. Boo is growing stronger every day. She is ready to begin looking for a forever home that will continue to show her that the world can be a kind and loving place. If Boo sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Boo is adjusting very well to living in a house.  Her foster reports she is housebroken and she will let you know when she needs to go out. She also does well in the crate overnight.  Since Boo is heartworm positive she needs to keep her activity level limited to leash walks and no running or jumping.

Boo, like any puppy, likes to “collect” items around the house and relocate them so it is important to give her alternate toys which she loves to play with. Her favorite toy is a yellow rope that she engages with her handler. Boo has learned to be around cats (7) as a matter of fact and mostly ignores them so she will likely do fine in a house with a cat.  Boo is an incredibly sweet give who loves attention and being with her people.  She would love a family to call her own.  Please ask to meet Boo!

It is just a joy to be in the presence of lil’ Miss Boo!   She has been through so much – found by the side of the road all banged up, a terrible skin condition, and heartworm – but she is upbeat, and so sweet and happy to be with just about anyone, all wiggly and jumpy just like you would expect of a young GSD!    She is feeling and looking a lot better, her skin is healed and her coat has grown in, and her energy is growing.  That  makes the crate rest and exercise limitations for her heartworm a little hard on this young girl, but she is managing like a trooper.  She has a LOT of personality, and she knows she’s hot stuff, so she is something of a diva and can make and little racket and rattle around if she thinks someone is not doing what she wants, but she is super smart and responds very well to consistent leadership and clear communication.  She is very well crate acclimated and pretty well house broken, but she will sometimes submissive pee if she gets excited.  She is also a bit mouthy, but she has improved a lot on both fronts pretty quickly.   So with continued guidance and structure as she matures, she will be a very mannerly girl, but she would do best in a home with no small children.   She loves her bunkmate, an older female GSD, and wants to play but she can’t yet.  Boo is young, enthusiastic, and easily over-stimulated, so it’s best not to get too playful with her for now, so she can try to stay cool, calm, and collected for her HW treatment and recovery over the next couple months.  But once she’s been through that, watch out for this little pistol!  If you think you might be interested in Boo, better get in line soon, because she is something!

DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Annisa and her siblings - Orion and Kiernan - arrived in MAGSR's care after being transferred from another rescue. They have clearly been well cared for and are waiting patiently for their forever homes. As these babies were living in a foster home prior to arrival, they have already begun to develop their social skills with people and other animals. It is essential that their new families continue this process as it will help them develop into stable and confident adults. Annisa is your typical puppy - playful, wiggly, and curious about everything. Recognizing that toys provide endless fun, Annisa happily moves from one toy the next for entertainment. Although Annisa is adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. Annisa continually impresses her foster parents. She already knows how to sit, rarely has accidents in the house, sleeps well in her crate, and loves to snuggle with anyone who will let her sit in their lap. She likes to get the attention of the resident German Shepherd in the house and meet new dogs and people. Toys and peanut butter are Annisa’s favorite things. She is extremely affectionate and loves to adventure in the backyard.

Sweet Honey's family loved her dearly. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they were unable to continue to care for her. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender her to a rescue. Although this was hard to do, Honey's family knew it was in her best interest to move forward. We appreciate all that they did for Honey.

Honey lives up to her name. She is a lovely girl. Having been well socialized with people and animals, Honey gets along well with just about everyone. She has lived with dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks without issues. As a young, big, and energetic girl, Honey will need daily exercise for both her body and mind. This will help her burn her energy appropriately while also stimulating her mind. Training will be very beneficial for Honey as it will not only help her bond with her new family, but it will also help her become a good canine citizen. If Honey sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today!

Updates:

Honey has been living with a foster for 2 weeks now they are happy to report Honey is 100% house broken and crate trained.  Honey loves to be near her humans, play with toys and chew on bones.  She does not go to the bathroom on a leash so a fenced in yard would be the best fit for her, she will only go to one spot in the yard to do her business.  We are working on Honey’s introduction to other dogs, we think something in her past must have happened to make her untrusting of others initially.  She currently has 6 foster siblings, so she is getting a lot of practice socializing and so far her favorites are a miniature poodle and the dominant lone female GSD.

Lovely Fox was a victim of cruelty and neglect. Fortunately, when animal services learned of her situation, they moved quickly to help Fox as well as other animals in the household. Although this sweet girl was adjusting to her new circumstances, shelter staff recognized that Fox would have her best chance at finding a loving forever home if she was transferred to a rescue. When asked to help Fox move forward, MAGSR immediately stepped up.

Fox is a beautiful girl both inside and out. Although she has had to endure circumstances that no one should have to live through, her sweet spirit remains. As she can be a little timid when first new people, Fox warms up quickly with patience and kindness. A few high value treats also go a long way. Once comfortable, Fox is your typical young shepherd. She enjoys snuggles, being close to her people, and goofing around. Currently living with senior GSDs and a few cats, Fox enjoys the company of animals that will give her a minute to warm up to them. She seems most comfortable with one of the pushy, dog-savvy cats. As is true of most shepherds, Fox will benefit greatly from training.
