Skye
ADOPTED 11/01/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Skye was surrendered to a shelter when her family could no longer provide for her. Fortunately, a foster family was able to step up and take her into their care so that Skye could remain in a household while she waited for her forever family. Unfortunately, due to a sad turn of events, Skye's foster was injured and could no longer take care of her. Recognizing that Skye was out of options, rescue groups in the area began searching for a placement in another region. When asked if we could bring this lovely girl into the MAGSR family, we immediately stepped forward.
Skye is the sweetest, well mannered and tolerable girl. She is wonderful with small children, adults, and dogs, and even cats. Although it should be known that she does find the cats interesting. Having lived in a household, Skye is both housebroken and crate trained. She is comfortable and happy in her crate, on the floor, or even on the couch (if allowed). Lovable and affectionate, Skye is a big kisser but may be one of the sloppiest kissers you will ever meet. She is looking for a household that would appreciate a nice balance of playtime, training, and snuggles.
We have learned that Skye is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had Skye been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. We have already begun Skye's treatment and the cost of her entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but this sweet little girl is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Skye's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her and other dogs with medical needs. Although Skye will need to take it easy over the next few months while she undergoes treatment, she will be an easy patient as she already knows so much about living in a home. Skye is looking for a forever family that will commit to her for a lifetime. Could this be with you?
Kaffee
ADOPTED 10/31/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Kaffee's family absolutely adored her. As a beloved member of their family, they made sure she had everything she needed and more. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they were unable to continue to provide Kaffee with the life they knew she deserved. As a result, they surrendered her to MAGSR knowing that we would find her a loving forever family.
As a more mature adult, Kaffee's stable and loving personality is a good match for any household. A total love-bug, in many ways Kaffee is the quintessential velcro dog that so many shepherd households come to expect. Fun, happy, and full of tail wags, Kaffee is an active girl who loves to play. She will even play a giggle-filled game of hide-and-seek for some high-value treats. She wanted you to know that hotdogs would be a great option when playing this game. A quiet house guest in her foster home. Kaffee is well mannered on leash. It is highly apparent that her family did a nice job teaching her the ins and outs of good canine citizenship. Although Kaffee already has a lot going for her, she will need to attend training. Training is essential as it will not only help Kaffee bond to her new family but it will also help her transition more smoothly. Kaffee is a big fan of children and does well with most dogs. She is looking for a home that will give her opportunities to go on car rides, play fetch, and soak up lots of love and attention. Kaffee will be a perfect addition to the right family, could that be with you?
Updates:Kaffee quickly settled into her foster home and hasn’t shown any separation anxiety or difficulty adjusting. She is a very affectionate dog who loves to go on walks around the neighborhood, merrily greeting a wide variety of people and dogs along the way. She is an easy, pleasant leash walker, never pulling or balking. At home she’ll play with her ball, catch popcorn, or quietly nap next to her people.
Briscoe
ADOPTED 10/30/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Briscoe was trapped on the streets of a busy city along with his little family. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was quiet and shut down. There was simply so much going on around him and so many new people and sounds. Staff members did notice that although Briscoe was unsure he was beyond sweet. Once given a little time to adjust, Briscoe's calm and collected personality quickly emerged. Although Briscoe's puppies quickly found homes, he was left behind waiting for his turn to find a forever home. Recognizing that Briscoe deserved a loving home of his very own, we welcomed this boy into the MAGSR family.
Both stable and affectionate, Briscoe's sweet eyes win everyone over. He has done well with people and children. It is hard not to fall for this guy. We have learned that Briscoe is heartworm positive. This condition could have been avoided had he been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. MAGSR has begun his heartworm treatment and Briscoe is doing well. The cost of his entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Briscoe is clearly worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Briscoe's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Briscoe will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a stable, loving guy, please ask to meet Briscoe today.
Fred
ADOPTED 10/25/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Fred was confiscated due to cruelty and neglect. Due to court proceedings, this good looking guy waited for several months at a local shelter waiting for his chance at finding a family that would love and care for him for a lifetime. Once given the green light to move forward, shelter staff felt that Fred would have his best chance at finding his forever home through a rescue. When asked if we could help Fred find the perfect forever family, we immediately stepped forward.
Fred is a very handsome guy who was clearly not cared for early in life. Undersocialized with people, he will require time and patience to adjust to new people and situations. Fred prefers a calm, slow handler at first as he gets his bearings. However, given time, structure, and leadership, he does begin to open up. As a young dog, Fred will thrive with routine. He will benefit greatly from training as this will not only help him bond to his forever family, but it will also help him develop the stability and confidence that all dogs need. Fred is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the love and safety he so clearly deserves. If your household sounds like the right match for Fred, ask to meet this boy today.
Junior
ADOPTED 10/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Junior and his siblings were part of an accidental litter. His family loved him greatly and took good care of him and his siblings. However, as the puppies grew older, it became difficult to take care of so many dogs. Recognizing that Junior and his siblings would be better able to receive the care and attention they deserved if they were rehomed, Junior's owner made the difficult decision to surrender the group of siblings to MAGSR. We promised that we would find each member of the family safe and loving forever homes.
Junior is a love. He was well socialized in his home with kids and other dogs. However, his family struggled to find time to socialize him in the community. As a result, Junior can be a little timid with new people and in new places. Given time, patience, and guidance, Junior will develop the confidence he needs outside of the household. Just like any young dog, Junior will thrive with structure, routine and training. Training will help him to not only bond with his new family but also develop into the stable adult we know he is destined to be. If Junior sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today.
Updates:
Junior is a sweetheart that loves to be close to his human. He is crate trained, housebroken and working on obedience. He walks amazingly on a leash and would be a great walking companion with just a couple little tweaks. Junior loves kids. His favorite human in the house is the foster's daughter and her friends. If you are looking for a loving family dog, this is your guy. As you can see from his picture, he is just hanging out waiting for his forever home.
If you are looking for a sweet loving family dog then Junior is the one. He loves all people and would welcome living in a home with another dog. At his foster's he keeps the dad company during the day by laying at his feet under his desk while he works. He loves snuggling, going for walks and helping his foster mom take care of the goats and chickens in the mornings. Junior is still not sure why the chickens need to follow him around on his walks :). Junior has come a long way in his obedience, he will sit for his leash to be attached, he goes in the down position and walks nicely on the leash. Since he is such a social butterfly, he does get excited when he sees other dogs but he is learning he needs to remain calm. Junior is only a year old, so he would love to go running, long walks, playtime and of course snuggling with his human.. If he sounds like a fit, set up a meet and greet with this sweet boy.
Sally
ADOPTED 10/11/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sally and her Cars Puppies were rescued in the south by another group. As they wanted to do right by this lovely family, they began reaching out to other groups who would be able to support the family until they were ready to find forever homes of their own. When asked to welcome this family into the MAGSR family, we immediately said yes.
Sally was a known homeless dog in the community in which she lived. She often visited members of the community and was friendly and gentle. When Sally became pregnant, a community member began working with a rescue group to trap Sally and her family. It took some time; however, they met with success and Sally and her babies were ready to move forward to lives of comfort and safety. Sally is an incredible mommy. She has done a wonderful job caring for her 10 babies. However, she now deserves a family of her very own that will love and care for her with the same kindness she has shown her babies. In many ways Sally is still a baby herself. She will thrive in an environment that provides her with the structure, routine, and guidance that all dogs crave. Training will be key to Sally's success as it will not only help her bond with her new family, but it will also help her develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to be. If this lovely girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.
Bruno
ADOPTED 10/09/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Bruno was picked up as a stray in the south. This sweet guy immediately won over the hearts and minds of shelter staff. Recognizing that Bruno deserved the chance at a loving forever home that would cherish him for a lifetime, shelter staff began looking for a rescue that could support Bruno as he moved forward. When MAGSR heard about Bruno, we knew we could find him the perfect forever home.
Bruno is a young and playful guy. As is true of all young dogs, Bruno is energetic. His new family will need to exercise both his body and his mind regularly in order to help him develop into a stable adult. Bruno has shown to be friendly with everyone he meets. It is highly evident that he was socialized at some point. However, it is essential that his new family continue his socialization as he moves forward. Bruno will thrive with structure, leadership, and routine. Training is also important. It will not only help Bruno bond to his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. If Bruno sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.
Sawyer
ADOPTED 10/07/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Sawyer is a little love. She was welcomed to the MAGSR family as her household was not prepared for a surprise litter. Wanting the best for Sawyer, they decided to send her to rescue. It is highly evident that Sawyer was socialized well in her household. She is your typical playful, goofy, interactive puppy. Although Sawyer is an absolute love bug, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy energy and antics. They get into things, whine, and will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Sawyer will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If this little love sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!
Teddy Bear
ADOPTED 10/07/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Teddy Bear and his siblings, Anna and Jodie, were brought to a shelter when their owner passed away. Unfortunately, it was apparent that their owner had been struggling to care for these dogs for a while. Fearful and avoidant in the shelter environment, this little family needed out and fast. Knowing we could provide this family with the life and love they deserve, MAGSR welcomed them to the family.
Teddy Bear is sweet but timid. He warms up for love and attention with a little patience. A big fan of kisses, this guy loves to come over for cuddles once comfortable. Due to the condition in which he arrived, sweet Teddy Bear needed to be shaved as his fur was so matted and dirty that it had caused a skin infection. Fortunately, our amazing vetting partners were able to help Teddy Bear get the relief he needed. With some regular baths, medication, consistent grooming, Teddy Bear is slowly healing. His lovely fur will grow back and he will once again have a magnificent coat. Unfortunately, we have also discovered that Teddy Bear is heartworm positive. This condition could have been avoided had he been provided monthly heartworm preventatives. We have already begun Teddy Bear's treatment. The cost of Teddy Bear's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but this guy is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Teddy Bear's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Teddy Bear will need to take it slow over the next few months while he undergoes treatment, this will give him time to adjust to his new environment and meet with success in his forever home. Teddy Bear is looking for a forever family that will provide him with the structure, patience, and love that he so clearly deserves. Could this be with you?
Pricilla
ADOPTED 10/02/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Description: Elvis and Priscilla were abandoned by their family. Fortunately, when a good Samaritan found them, they moved quickly to get them help. Elvis and Priscilla were brought to a local shelter where staff immediately began addressing their needs. Underweight, under-socialized, and lacking vetting care, shelter staff recognized that Elvis and Priscilla would need some extra support to move forward. When contacted to see if we could help them find their forever home, MAGSR was happy to step up. After several months in foster together and a trial separation it was determined that Elvis and Pricilla are not a true bonded pair as they do not appropriately care and nurture each other's needs. In their best interest, MAGSR decided to separate them in order to find them the best permanent home possible for them to continue to grow and develop into beloved family pets.
It is highly evident that Pricilla was not treated kindly by a male in the past as she is very fearful and nervous of men. She will require a lot of time to build trust of any males in the household and bonds very quickly with a female handler. She will need someone with experience to help build her confidence and earn her trust. She lacks appropriate social and behavioral skills towards both people and dogs but is not aggressive. Once she trusts you she is your quintessential velcro shepherd and will follow you everywhere. She is weary of new people and will avoid them at all costs or will anxiously pace if she sees someone from a distance in the yard. She would not do well in a city environment or in a busy household with kids running around. She needs individualized attention and training to address her needs. Pricilla is housebroken and crate trained. She knows: sit, down, come and no. She enjoys going for car rides and will lay down in the back for a quick snooze. She LOVES all things that squeak to include balls, stuffed toys, rubber chickens etc. Once you have Pricilla's trust she will greet you with tail wags, kisses, and want to curl up by your feet or next to you on the couch. She has a sweet and inquisitive personality that is hard to resist. Training will go a long way in helping Pricilla build confidence and overcome her fears and anxieties. Patience is key with this girl and you will have a loving and loyal companion.
Lola
ADOPTED 10/02/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lovely Lola was picked up as a stray in the south and brought to animal control. As is common with shepherds, she struggled at the shelter and needed out as soon as possible. Recognizing that Lola would have her best chance at finding the right forever home with a rescue, shelter staff put out a plea for Lola. MAGSR answered that call.
Lola is an energetic, intelligent, and gorgeous pup. Curious and friendly with people, Lola is social. However, like many young dogs, Lola has not had the routine and structure that all GSDs crave. As a result, she will benefit greatly from training. Not only will this help Lola bond to her forever family but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen. Fortunately, Lola's foster family has already begun this process and she is rising to the challenge. Lola enjoys the company of other dogs. She would be most successful with stable canine companions. Ready to put her past behind her, Lola is ready for her forever family. Could that be with you
Keanu
ADOPTED 10/01/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Keanu was dumped in a cove in the south. While waiting for his family to return, he stayed close to the cove sleeping in an adjacent yard. During the day community members would find him walking about while always keeping close to the cove. Recognizing that this guy needed help, neighbors asked a local rescue to trap Keanu. Although scared, dehydrated, and hungry, Keanu was trapped and placed with a foster family who helped him decompress in safety. Once ready, they started contacting rescues for help as it was felt that Keanu would meet with greatest success in another region. When asked to welcome Keanu to the MAGSR family, we immediately stepped forward.
Keanu is a handsome and social guy. In his foster home he lived with several other dogs of different ages and sizes. Although he did very well, it is believed that Keanu would meet with greatest success if he were placed with other medium to large sized dogs simply because he is a big, goofy guy. A huge fan of playing ball, Keanu is hoping his new family has an affinity for playing fetch. He would also benefit from a family that has the time to exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. This will help him develop into a stable adult. Having lived in a foster family, Keanu has already started learning a few basic commands. He is a quick study and will be a star in training class. Training will not only help Keanu bond to his forever family but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. If your family is ready to provide Keanu with the structure, leadership, and routine that will help him thrive, ask to meet him today!
Odetta
ADOPTED 09/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Odetta is a survivor. She was found living on the streets of a large city protecting three fluffy puppies. Recognizing that they needed help, animal control was called to help Odetta's little family find safety. They were brought to a shelter where the staff quickly recognized that this little family would have their best chance if they were transferred to a rescue. Odetta's puppies, Benceti, Pavys, and Thorson, have found loving homes; however, Odetta has needed additional support adjusting to her new life.
An intelligent girl who is also a problem solver, Odetta thinks through situations well and loves to work her way through specialized toys for treats. Although Odetta has some clear strengths, she did not have positive socialization with people prior to her arrival at the shelter. As a result she is very fearful and uncomfortable around people. At this time she is a high flight risk and will require training, patience, and structure in order to learn that people are safe and will attend to her needs. Although our volunteers are working very hard to help Odetta adjust to her new life, this is a slow process.
When Odetta is ready for her forever home, she will be best suited for a family that has experience with fearful dogs. A quiet home without children would give Odetta the opportunity to adjust slowly. Odetta does seem comforted by other dogs and enjoys their company. Her anxiety level drops significantly when another stable dog is present. Although another dog in the home is not required, Odetta may benefit from the confidence that a second stable dog would bring.
Please watch for updates as Odetta further develops her socialization skills.
Clarence
ADOPTED 09/27/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Clarence was picked up as a stray in the south. This sweet guy immediately won over the hearts and minds of shelter staff. Recognizing that Clarence deserved the chance at a loving forever home that would cherish him for a lifetime, shelter staff began looking for a rescue that could support Clarence as he moved forward. When MAGSR heard about Clarence, we knew we could find him the perfect forever home.
Clarence is a young and playful guy. As is true of all young dogs, Clarence is energetic. His new family will need to exercise both his body and his mind regularly in order to help him develop into a stable adult. Good with kids, cats, and other dogs, Clarence is friendly with everyone he meets. It is highly evident that he was socialized at some point. However, it is essential that his new family continue his socialization as he moves forward. Although Clarence arrived in our care heartworm positive, he has completed his treatment and is officially heartworm free! He is ready to move forward with his new family. Clarence will thrive with structure, leadership, and routine. Training is also important. It will not only help Clarence bond to his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. If Clarence sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.
Faith
ADOPTED 09/25/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Faith's family abandoned her when they moved to a new home. The new family that moved in immediately tried to scare her off the property. Although Faith would leave during the days, she would faithfully return home each night looking for her family. The new homeowners were not kind to her. They threw things at her and refused to get her help. After a year and a half of repeated abuse, an amazing group of rescuers heard about Faith's situation. Immediately putting together a plan of action, they trapped Faith and brought her to safety. Recognizing that Faith deserved the opportunity to live a life of love and kindness, a rescue plea went out. MAGSR heard Faith's story and immediately stepped forward.
Although it is obvious that Faith has endured pain at the hands of people, she remains a sweet and loving girl. As is expected given her past, Faith will need a household that is willing to go slow and give her a chance to adjust to new people and new situations. Once able to trust her people, Faith greets you with tail wags and gentle kisses. Crate trained and housebroken, Faith does remember what it is like to live in a household; however, as is true of all dogs, she will need to further brush up on her skills. Living with other shepherds, kids, and cats, Faith is adjusting well to pack life but is not yet ready to relax completely. With patience, structure, routine, and training, Faith will develop the confidence she needs to be a good canine citizen.
Faith is looking for a patient yet confident household that will help her continue to move forward. Could that be with you?
Russia
ADOPTED 09/25/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet and sophisticated Russia was picked up by animal control in the south. Although Russia had been adopted out years earlier, it was highly evident that he had not been well cared for over the last few years. Thin, infested with fleas, and lacking basic care, this gentleman was in need of help and fast. Fortunately, the shelter began addressing his needs while they waited out his stray hold and began looking for rescue support. When no one came to claim Russia, MAGSR stepped in.
Although Russia had clearly been neglected this handsome gentleman is a loving and gentle soul. His easy-going mannerisms and affectionate attitude make him the ideal dog for many households. Russia already knows a few commands such as sit and paw. He loves to greet everyone and has no problem being the center of attention. Although Russia did have a family at one point, we do not yet know if he is housebroken or crate trained. We do know he rides in the car beautifully and is a gentleman on leash. As Russia's needs were clearly neglected, he is now getting the vetting he needs to move forward. Unfortunately, Russia did test heartworm positive. This diagnosis would have been avoided had he been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Russia has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of his entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Russia is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Russia's treatment and care. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Russia will need some time to heal over the next few months, this sweet guy will be back to full strength when his treatments are completed. If your household is looking for a handsome and sophisticated gentleman, please ask to meet Russia today.
Updates:Russia has been in a foster home almost a week and he is settling in and I get to see more of his sweet personality each day. First thing anyone should know about him is that he loves nothing more than human love and attention. He is a resilient boy, considering that humans in his past treated him poorly. He just wants to be a velcro dog for someone. Even though he arrived underweight and loving food, from day 1 he would leave his food bowl to find me if I left the room. He compensates for my absence by bringing mouthfuls of food to me so he can eat in the same room.
He is still skittish and cowers with fast movement or loud noise which is remnants of his past experiences that we are making progress with. Russia was placed on short term steroid and it a helping him be more comfortable/less itchy and requires more frequent trips outside for potty breaks. He has obviously been suffering for a long time and is missing fur. He is heartworm positive and MAGSR is paying for his treatment. His first week here was filled with vet visits, x-rays, a bath (quite possibly his first in a looong time), and blood draws. Through it all he has loved up on the vet and vet techs and they think he is the best dog ever. That’s huge progress for a dog scared into cowering on the floor or running away when the TV turns on. It is clear he has had very little experience with indoor life but just as we mentioned before he is resilient and adapting to the wonderful life as a beloved family member. His soulful eyes just tug at your heart, Russia is patiently waiting for that special someone to shower him with all the love and attention he deserves.
Don't let his age fool you, this pup has a lot more energy than first thought. As his health improves, so does his activity level. He bounces like a puppy when happy, throws and chases his stuffy, and jogs around the house when the mood strikes. He also has a touch of mischief hiding in him. I think he would make someone a great walking partner -- even speedwalker partner. We can't officially check that yet since he is still dealing with heartworms and has activity limitations but he shows every sign of being an energetic dog.
His fur is doing much better and although he will never get back some of his coat, he is furry again overall. He is also gaining confidence and doesn't run away all the way now. He barks at "intruders" and runs behind me to only come out and repeat the cycle. He is much more tolerant of hands moving around and rarely cowers now.
He is also 90% house trained which is a vast improvement. He still piddels if very scared and he has had an accident when I broke routine and didn't head straight for the door first thing in the morning. I think he knows that he needs to go outside for the bathroom but doesn't yet understand that this means he isn't supposed to go inside, if that makes any sense. He sleeps nicely in the crate by my bed all night. If put in the crate during the day he whines and barks but doesn't chew or paw at the crate.
Oh, and he sings! watch the video
Freedom!!! Well, sort of...
Russia has finished his strict kennel rest during heartworm treatment and is being allowed out for some walks and play. He is acting like a child who has been let out for school's summer vacation and can't get enough fun! He definitely needs some refresher training on how to walk nicely on a leash, but that is to be expected considering the last few months of strict rest.
After a short bout of play with toys, or a romp in the yard, or a play fight with the other dog, it is time for some front porch sittin'. Now, if you are wondering what the difference is between sitting and sittin' you have to remember his southern upbringing. He likes to sit on the front porch (never the back), watch the world go by, chat with neighbors, and call out the young pups who dare come near his lawn.
"In my day we knew how to bark correctly. Now a days these young pups cannot be bothered to send a pee-mail. What is this pee-tweet anyway?! In my day..." Yes, Russia, we know. Take it easy, I'm in the middle of writing something.
Sittin' with his favorite drink (cool water if you please) he gets in his favorite spot, right up against the door in the shade, and will stay there until forced to come inside because it is time for food or it is getting too hot.
He would really like a home of his own so he doesn't have to keep dealing with sharing a human with another dog. "That young pup needs to know his place in this pack! Biting my tail and taunting me..." Yes, Russia.
As you can tell he likes to say his piece so I wouldn't recommend a townhome or an apartment building where dogs are not well-loved. However, while he has his curmudgeonly moments, he really does have the playfulness of a much younger dog and loves human companionship. He's looking for a family or person who can spend some time giving him a good scratch, some great treats, and hopefully, a front porch. He's the perfect blend of active dog who doesn't need a lot of exercise and relaxing porch (or couch) companion. Will you please open your home?

ADOPTED 09/25/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Hi! My name is Xeda! I’m 7 years old and I'm a survivor. Over the last few years I've been on my own. Fortunately, I met with the right people at the right time and they have helped me move forward. I’m looking for a family that will love me forever. I know MAGSR will help me find the right match.
Although I have lived with other dogs in my foster home, I’d prefer to be the only dog in your house so you can focus all of your attention on me!! When it comes to small animals, such as cats and bunnies, they are a lot of fun to chase. So, I am told that I need a home without these temptations. When it comes to human interactions, I am a big fan of older kids, but younger ones startle me and make me nervous. Perhaps it is how quickly they move about. With my people I am social and sometimes talkative. I do have a lot to say sometimes particularly when I'm excited.
In case you didn't know, I really like living in a household. I haven’t had any accidents in the house and I’m very good at waking my foster mom and dad in the morning to let them know I’m ready to go out and ready for breakfast. Although I'm not surprised, my foster family loves to compliment me on my leash manners. I've got the concept of walking on a leash down pat. They smile a lot when I respond to a few commands. I am ready to learn more and am sure I will bring more smiles when I do. When it comes to my favorite things, I absolutely love to be outside. I could lay about and soak up the sunshine for hours if they would let me. My foster mom says it’s too hot for me to stay out too long though. I also love to carry my toys all around and show them off! They simply bring me joy. If you are looking for a sweet, loveable snuggle bug, I might be the right match for you!
Rex
ADOPTED 09/25/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Rex was a beloved member of his household. Unfortunately, his family could no longer care for him and felt he deserved a chance with a new family who could meet all of his needs. Although this was a heart wrenching decision, Rex's family wanted him to live his best life. We promised Rex's family that we would find him a loving forever home.
Rex is a big, beautiful guy. Playful and interactive, Rex loves toys but needs the tough toys because he is very good at pulling them apart. A big fan of the ball, Rex is hoping to find a new family that likes to play ball just as much as he does. As a young guy, Rex will thrive in an environment with structure, routine and leadership. Already housebroken and crate trained, he is ready for the next challenge - training. Training will not only help Rex bond to his forever family, but it will also help him develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to become. If Rex sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet this sweet guy today!
Tasha
ADOPTED 09/19/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
*Update* Tasha’s fosters are thrilled that this precious girl is heartworm free! She is looking for a forever home where she can enjoy company most of the day with hugs and head-to-head snuggling. She’s a low to moderate energy GSD and is gentle in all ways. While she has not shown much interest in other dogs, her fosters continue to work on her socialization skills. She enjoys walks that give her opportunities to sniff and stroll and is not affected at all by other passing dogs. Training also continues as we all work together on basic commands.
Tasha is a survivor. After being horribly neglected, she was dumped at a vet with her two pups where the entire family was to be euthanized. Fortunately, another rescue learned of this little family's plight and was able to save them in time. Tasha's puppies were able to find families quickly. However, Tasha needed some additional care as her body had endured significant neglect.
With the help of another rescue, Tasha was nursed back to health. She received the medical care and kindness that this beautiful girl so clearly deserved. Although Tasha has experienced cruelty at the hands of people, she remains loving and attentive. She enjoys the comforts of a soft bed and head rubs. Although we are still learning about this lovely girl, she amazes us with her sweet temperament. If Tasha sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet her today.
Updates:Tasha has made significant progress since her arrival at MAGSR. She is affectionate with her people and has learned to enjoy toys and treats. A big fan of snuggles, Tasha is more than happy to bury her head in your lap just to get some extra love. Although playful, Tasha is not a high energy dog. She enjoys play time and outings but is also content to hang out with her people. As is typical of most GSDs, once comfortable, Tasha will protect her household and property. Not all shepherds want to socialize with people outside of their immediate family. Although Tasha is a friendly girl and does well out and about, she may do best being put away when visitors come to the house. Training will go a long way with Tasha as it will teach her to look to the handler for direction and leadership. Tasha is looking for a family that will commit to her for a lifetime. If Tasha sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.
Tasha is a sweet girl who immediately wanted to be with her new foster parents. When we are in different parts of the house, she often plops downs at the vantage point allowing her to keep tabs on both of us. Of course she may just be afraid of missing a meal! But “head cuddles” are very satisfying to both parties. She is fine being crated at night as long as we leave a light on, but would probably be happier as close as possible to her people. Her walks throughout the day sometimes lets her meet new people—passing trucks and exuberant dogs, not so fun.
Walking on a lead is coming along nicely. Tasha is also still learning what she needs to know to be a polite, safe member of the household. She is low energy now, but as she gets healthier I’m sure she will find the happier, more active Tasha inside.
Tasha shows her sweet, gentle personality even in adversity, such as when she’s had a tough vet appointment. She has been a lovely roommate, and is starting to sit before being invited outside or getting her food and she comes when she is called. Tasha seems very happy to meet people, but due to heartworm restrictions on activities, we have not yet tried to socialize her with other dogs, cats, or babies. Though the heart worm treatment has meant she is to stay calm and quiet, it seems fine with her. Tasha has finished her heartworm treatment and we are getting back into walks although, keeping them short and slow for now. Tasha has not expressed any interest in toys, but she likes to keep track of her foster parents. She is easy to walk on a leash, and seems ok to be crated at night, especially now that she knows our schedule and can count on us to let her out in the morning. She’s a beautiful, darling girl.
Tasha is still waiting for her forever home - are you looking for a sweet, loving companion? Tasha loves to go for walks, snuggle with her humans. She is very laid back and a gentle soul. Tasha also has a lot of grace. When she first came to stay with us she showed us that she knows how to untangle her legs from the leash with ease. Her fosters have not seen her swim but the second she steps into a creek she lies down with a look of pure bliss like she is getting a spa treatment. Oh, and she took it upon herself to eradicate the Brood X cicadas (I think she did it!) From reading her bio, you will see she came from a life of neglect. She has shown perseverance and she would love to be adopted and live out her life with a family that is hers. If you are looking for a low key, sweet loving girl to take on long walks and shadow you in the yard while you work then please reach out so you can meet her.
Heartland
ADOPTED 09/12/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Heartland was picked up as a stray by another rescue. Although they contacted the local shelter and tried to find his family, no one came to claim this sweetheart. Fortunately, Heartland had a safe place to stay while he waited for his forever family. Although Heartland was well cared for by the other rescue, they felt that Heartland would have his best chance at finding a family in another region. As a result, MAGSR was asked to help Heartland move forward, we were happy to help this sweet guy move forward.
Heartland is a social guy. He enjoys the company of other dogs and people. Participating regularly in a playgroup while waiting to arrive in MAGSR's care, Heartland is simply a social butterfly. Although we know Heartland is a neat guy, we do not know if he has ever lived in a household. In many ways he is starting with a clean slate. As is true of all young dogs, Heartland will benefit from structure, routine, and leadership. This will help him adjust to his new household. Heartland will also benefit from training as this will help him bond to his new family, as well as, develop into a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, Heartland is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been given monthly heartworm prevention. at this time Heartland is already halfway through his treatment. Although treatment is expensive, sweet heartland is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating to Heartland's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Heartland is taking it easy right now, he will be back to full strength in a little over a month. If your household is looking for a social butterfly, ask to meet Heartland today.
Izzy Bee
ADOPTED 09/12/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Izzy Bee and her brother, Asher, were well-loved members of their family. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, Izzy Bee and Asher's family was not able to continue to care for them. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender both dogs to MAGSR. We promised Izzy Bee and Asher's family that we would find them an amazing forever home that would care for them for a lifetime.
Izzy Bee is a friendly girl. She enjoys the company of her people and other dogs. Having grown up with Asher, Izzy Bee has grown accustomed to the presence of another dog. However, she would also do well as the only dog in the household so that she can enjoy all of the attention. Izzy Bee lived on a large piece of land and enjoyed romping and playing about outside. Although Izzy Bee loves to be outside, she hasn't had a lot of experience on a leash. Our volunteers have already begun teaching Izzy some leash manners. However, she will benefit from further training with her new family. Training will not only help Izzy bond to her new family but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen. Izzy Bee is looking for a loving family that will provide her with the structure, leadership, and routine that all dogs crave. If Izzy Bee sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Annika
ADOPTED 09/11/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Annika was returned to MAGSR's care after incidents with the other dog of the household, as well as the cat. She will be looking for a forever family where she can be the sole animal in the home to be the center of attention.
Annika is a beautiful young adult with a big personality. She is extremely intelligent and observant of her environment. She also forms strong bonds with her humans and is very affectionate. Annika will be protective of the house once she sees it as her place. She will thrive with a confident handler and structured training to bring out her potential, because she lives for meaningful interactions with her people. She is active and a jumper, and may be a candidate for agility training or other activities that engage her intelligence.
She loves tummy rubs and affection, walks, and interactive games. She learns quickly when pepperoni treats are on hand, and will even play a good game of hide and seek the treat. Annika likes her crate and is fully house trained. She walks well on the leash, learns commands quickly, loves car rides and exploring new environments like trails and parks.
If sweet Annika sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today.
Updates:Annika continues to practice and learn commands - including sit, stay, lie down, go to bed (she runs into her crate), go find (hide and seek treats), and when waiting for the walk signal at intersections she’ll sit with a snap of the fingers. With a few taps to your shoulder she’ll snuggle up and fall asleep. She loves her humans and is forever ready for a walk, demonstrating excellent leash walking manners (until a squirrel crosses her path, but who could blame her for wanting to catch one?). She has no problem meeting other dogs on walks, she simply doesn’t wish to live with them. Annika is thoroughly house trained, staying at home for hours on her own snoozing on the couch until it’s time to greet you at the door with eager tail wags.
Jasmine
ADOPTED 09/09/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Stunning Jasmine was surrendered to a local shelter as her family fell on hard times and could no longer care for her. They surrendered her to the shelter hoping that Jasmine would find a forever family that could care for her for a lifetime. As many shelters are overcrowded right now, shelter staff felt that Jasmine would have her best chance at finding the perfect forever family if she was transferred to a rescue.
Jasmine is in many ways your young, goofy, energetic shepherd. She greatly enjoys the company of her people and already knows a few commands. As is true of any young dog, Jasmine will thrive with training and consistency. Not only does Jasmine enjoy the company of people, she also enjoys the company of other dogs. It is evident that her family worked hard to make sure she was appropriately socialized. Jasmine's new family will need to continue to provide her with opportunities to socialize in a variety of environments as this will help her further develop into a stable and confident adult dog. If this gorgeous girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Harley
ADOPTED 09/09/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Harley has been a cherished member of her family for the past 5 years. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Harley's family was no longer able to provide her with the life that they knew she deserved. Recognizing that Harley deserved more than they could give, her family made the difficult decision to return her to MAGSR. We promised Harley's family that we would find her a loving and safe forever home.
Harley is a sweet and affectionate girl. She has the benefit of living in a home where she has been socialized with kids, cats, and other dogs. In fact, Harley has had the opportunity to participate in regular doggy day care field trips for several years and absolutely loves these days. She can't help but get excited around other dogs, that's just what social butterflies do. As Harley's family knew they wanted the best for her, they made sure she learned her commands and even added in a few tricks. Harley has a solid understanding of the leash and enjoys her daily outings. Although Harley has a solid foundation already, it will be important that her new family take her to training. This will not only help her further brush up on her skills but it will also help her bond to her new family. We are sure that Harley will be the star of the class. Having lived in a household, Harley understands the rules of living in a home. She is housebroken and crate trained. Her crate is her happy space and Harley can often be found in it snuggled up and either napping or just hanging out. Harley is looking for a family that will continue to cherish her and provide her with the love and attention she so clearly deserves. If Harley sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Ash
ADOPTED 09/07/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 10
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet little Ash was picked up as a stray in the south. This cute little guy was brought to a crowded shelter where staff knew he would need a little extra TLC so that he could find a forever home that would love him for a lifetime. Recognizing that Ash should be transferred to a rescue, they reached out to MAGSR for help. We knew this little guy would be a great addition to the MAGSR family.
Ash is an absolute sweetheart but it is clear that he has lived through some difficult circumstances in his short life. As a result, he is definitely a shy guy. Often choosing the comfort and safety of his crate as a refuge while he adjusts, Ash is a quiet and somewhat timid guy. It will be critical that Ash's forever family work with him on socialization with people and other animals. This is essential for all young dogs as it helps them develop into confident and stable adults. Training will also be key for Ash as it will help him bond to his forever family as well as learn the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Ash is looking for a loving forever family that will give him the time, patience, structure, and love he needs to blossom. In return he will provide a lifetime of love and loyalty. If Ash sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet this little honey today.
Updates:Ash is doing well transitioning to his foster home. He enjoys following the other dogs and prefers their company over human companionship at this time. He really enjoys running and playing in the yard, resting with a Nylabone as well as the safety of his crate. Ash is very nervous and shy around people. He is not aggressive, and will go into his crate when feeling scared. He will need a calm and patient family to give him time, training and structure. He would love to have a playful canine sibling as a good role model. He would do best with older calm children As he is not aggressive but very scared about sudden actions and loud noises.

Asher and his sister, Izzy Bee, were well-loved members of their family. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, Asher and Izzy Bee's family was not able to continue to care for them. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender both dogs to MAGSR. We promised Asher and Izzy Bee's family that we would find them an amazing forever home that would care for them for a lifetime.
Asher is an affectionate guy. He enjoys the company of his people and other dogs. Having grown up with Izzy Bee, Asher has grown accustomed to the presence of another dog. However, he would also do well as the only dog in the household so that he can enjoy all of the attention. Although Asher did live with a small child, he is uneasy around little kids. They often move so fast and have unpredictable movements. Asher would prefer a forever home with older children or without children. Having lived on a large piece of land, Asher has enjoyed romping and playing about outside. Although Asher loves to be outside, he hasn't had a lot of experience on a leash. Zendaya
ADOPTED 08/29/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Zendaya was picked up as a stray in the south. The shelter director couldn't believe that this little girl wasn't claimed as she is simply a love. Unfortunately, due to extensive overcrowding, once Zendaya's stray hold was up, she needed a rescue pull. MAGSR couldn't help but fall in love with this little girl. We were so very excited to welcome her to the MAGSR family.
Zendaya is a little honey. Her sunshiney personality brings light and joy to everyone around her. A big fan of attention and belly rubs, Zendaya happily flops over for as much love as she can possibly get. Although we do not know anything about Zendaya's past, it is highly evident that she was socialized with people and dogs. She plays very well with others. Although Zendaya is a doll, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy energy and antics. They get into things, whine, and will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Zendaya will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If this little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!
Updates:Zendaya needs your help, please donate now.
Sweet Zendaya apparently contracted an upper respiratory infection somewhere in her travels and it, unfortunately, developed into pneumonia. She had a hacking cough, purulent nasal discharge, sneezing, difficulty breathing and lethargy (for a puppy). Despite all of this, she continued to act much like a happy puppy but a low energy one. Her foster took her to the vet. She was started on antibiotics and the vet recommended x-rays. MAGSR immediately agreed to the x-rays and thank goodness we did. The x-rays clearly demonstrated just how sick this little one was. She was taken to the emergency clinic and started on intravenous antibiotics and fluids. The emergency staff were smitten with her exuberant personality. Fortunately, she only needed a one night stay and was sent home after 24 hours with more antibiotics. She'll need follow-up x-rays in two weeks. Her foster reports that her energy level has increased but to what level? We're really not sure but those IV antibiotics really seem to have made a difference.
Zendaya is a young girl and is going to have lots of energy to burn. She has no training and has learned to sit but when her food bowl is involved it's more of a kangaroo jump/sit. She is treat motivated. She doesn't have any leash manners and leashing has been a little bit of a challenge as any compression on her trachea produced coughing. This sweet girl will need lots of structure and training. She is smart, sweet and beautiful and has so much to learn. She gets along fine with the resident dogs and is conflict avoidant. She is looking for a forever home to provide a lifetime of love and adventures. Could this be you?
Prince
ADOPTED 08/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Prince was a beloved member of his family. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they could no longer care for him. Although surrendering Prince was a very difficult decision, his family knew that this was in his best interest as it allowed him to move forward. We promised Prince's family that we would find him a safe and loving forever home.
Prince is an energetic and playful guy. He loves to run around and play ball. Prince is looking for an active family. A family member with a good throwing arm would be an added bonus. Good with dogs, particularly little dogs, and cats, Prince enjoys the company of his furry friends. Having lived in a loving household, Prince is both housebroken and crate trained. Although he understands a lot of the rules of living in a household already, he will need a refresher in his new home. Prince has also had the benefit of a few training sessions prior to his arrival. However, he will need to attend training with his new family as this will help him not only bond to them. This will also help him develop the skills he needs to become a good canine citizen. Prince is looking for a family that will provide him with the structure, routine and leadership to move forward. Could that be with you?
Homer
ADOPTED 08/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Homer was surrendered to a local shelter as his family felt that they could no longer care for him. Although Homer seems to like people, he is very submissive and a little jumpy with new people and situations. Recognizing that Homer would be most successful if placed through a rescue, the shelter began sending out pleas for help. When we learned of Homer's situation, MAGSR immediately stepped forward to welcome him to the family.
Homer is a big, handsome boy. He is curious and affectionate but does need adjustment time when encountering new people, places, and situations. Head shy and very submissive when being leashed, Homer may not have always been treated affectionately. He will need time to learn to trust that his new family will treat him kindly. Thriving on confidence and stability, Homer is looking for a family that will move him forward positively. As is true of all shepherds, Homer will benefit greatly from training. Not only will this help him bond to his forever family, but it will also help him develop the confidence he needs to become a good canine citizen. Homer is looking for an experienced GSD household that is ready to commit to him for a lifetime. If this gorgeous guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!
Homer, a shy dog, is waiting for his fur-ever home where he can shine!
Updates:Wow! Homer has really come out of his shell since he as been living with his foster. He was so scared and unsure when he first arrived but now his personality is shining. He loves to play ball, sit for pets and is doing great with obedience training. Homer is a big guy who loves meeting new people and will continue to build confidence with structure. Homer is crate trained and house broken. If you are looking for a big boy to be a part of your family contact us to meet him.
Mac
ADOPTED 08/28/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Mac was picked up by animal control and brought to a shelter. Upon her arrival it was highly evident that she was in need of medical support. Mac could pull herself up on her front two legs, but struggled to move her back end. Shelter staff immediately got her into a vet to see what they could do to help this lovely little girl. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that Mac had a fractured pelvis, close to the right hip, and a dislocated left hip. It is presumed that Mac was hit by a car. She would need surgical support to help her move forward. Unfortunately, this was not an option at the shelter and would likely result in Mac being euthanized. In an attempt to save her life, a plea for help went out. MAGSR's volunteers knew they needed to help.
Mac is an absolute sweetheart. Even with the significant amount of pain that she is in, Mac is still gentle and affectionate. Her lovely eyes simply tug at your heartstrings. We have already begun working with Mac's surgical team to help her move forward. Mac will need to take it slow as she heals; however, at her age, a full recovery is expected. As a young girl, Mac is still learning all about the world around her. She, just like any young pup, will benefit greatly from continued socialization. This is critical as it will help her develop into a stable and confident adult. Mac is looking for a family that will love and cherish her for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Updates:It has been an absolute pleasure to have Mac in our home. She is a complete love bug. Full of tail wags and kisses, Mac may not have always been treated kindly by humans, as is evident from her emaciated frame and bullets in her tail; however, she remains interactive and social. A fan of people and kids, Mac welcomes everyone with kisses. Living with other shepherds, Mac takes a moment to realize that she is safe and then immediately begins interacting with the same little wiggles that she shows everyone. Although we do not know much about Mac's past, she is housebroken and crate trained. Mac settles very nicely in her crate and enjoys a cracked moose or elk horn to keep her entertained. A fan of toys and balls, Mac is playful and entertaining but is not a high energy dog. She enjoys her playtime but is also happy to curl up and relax. Mac is still learning to adjust to the world outside. She enjoys her daily walks but is still developing confidence when encountering new items or sounds. Having been hit by a car, Mac does pause when cars are moving near her. However, daily practice is helping her move forward. Mac is looking for a loving forever home that will care for her for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.
Sable
ADOPTED 08/23/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sable joined MAGSR when her family could no longer care for her. Although this was a very difficult decision, they knew this was Sable's best option for finding a forever home. We promised them that we would find Sable a safe and loving family.
Sable is a young, beautiful girl. Curious but cautious, Sable likes to take her time when acclimating to new people and situations. She seems to prefer a calm but confident handler. As a young dog, Sable still has a lot to learn about the world around her. She will benefit from socialization; however, this will be most successful if started in a controlled environment. With time, training, and increased confidence, Sable will develop the skills all shepherds need to meet with success. Training will be beneficial as it will not only help Sable bond with her new family but it will also help her build confidence and stability. Sable will thrive with structure, routine, and consistency. As we are still getting to know this lovely little girl, watch for updates on her progress.
Russell
ADOPTED 08/21/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Russell was dumped in a suburban neighborhood. This smart guy chose a house and decided to hang out on their doorstep. Fortunately, he chose a dog-loving household who immediately brought him in and started taking the right steps to try to find his family. Although they worked with the local shelter and lost dog groups, no one came forward to claim Russell. Without the resources to keep Russell as a member of their household, this family waited for his stray to to finish and began reaching out for rescue help. We knew Russell would be an excellent addition to the MAGSR family and stepped forward to welcome him.
Handsome Russell is a young, energetic, and playful guy. Although we don't know much about his past, it is very evident that he has been socialized with other dogs and people. As a young dog, it is imperative that Russell's new family continue this socialization with new people, animals, and environments. This will help him develop into a stable and confident adult. In addition to regular socialization, Russell will need daily exercise for both his mind and his body. He will need an active family that can meet these needs. As is true of all young dogs, Russell will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. His new family will need to take him to training so that he can develop a healthy bond with them. Training is also important as it will help Russell become a good canine citizen. If this impressive guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!
Updates:Russell is settling well into his foster home. He is fully house broken and is learning how to sleep quietly in his crate at night. Russell is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle with you on the couch. Since he is so young, he does have a lot of energy and likes long walks. He was never obedience trained and still has some bad puppy habits like picking up socks, but is getting better with some structure and consistent house rules. He learned 'sit to say please' very quickly! Russell would do really well in a home that has another dog he can play with. He keeps trying to play with the resident dog, but she is not interested. He is persistent and has not given up yet! He is friendly with other people and dogs.
Adira
ADOPTED 08/16/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Adira and her siblings - Isa, Knox, and Beckett - were dumped on a country road. Emaciated and clearly lacking care, these babies needed help and fast. When a kind member of the community discovered what had happened to the puppies, they moved quickly to help these babies find safety. Recognizing that these little orphans would have their best chance at finding safe and loving forever homes with a rescue, a plea for help went out.
Adira is an absolute doll. She has been fortunate to have been living with one of our amazing vetting partners who has worked hard to make sure she is happy, healthy, and well socialized. Continued socialization is critical to Adira's success as she grows. Unfortunately, it was apparent when Adira arrived that she had suffered some trauma to her back leg. It seems very likely that she was hit by a car when dumped with her siblings. MAGSR quickly had Adira seen by one of our vets who recommended that she be seen by a specialist as she would need an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy). This past week, Adira had her FHO surgery and is resting comfortably with the help of a few anti-inflammatory meds. She will need to take it slow over the next month or two as she heals; however, Adira is expected to make a full recovery.
Please consider donating to Adira's care.
Although Adira is a love, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Adira will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If this little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!
Updates:
Sweet Adria is now living with a foster and they have shared that Adria is crate trained and housebroken. Adria had hip surgery June 17th and she requires another 4 to 8 weeks of strict crate rest as she continues to heal, the vet expects her to have a full recovery. Adria loves attention and of course she wants to run and play, but she is kept on a short leash so that she can heal properly. Adria loves toys, chewing on nylabones and yummy kongs filled with peanut butter. If you are looking for a loving, sweet little girl to join your family please set up a meet and greet. Yes we know, she still has to grow into her ears :)
Kodiak
ADOPTED 08/15/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Kodiak was surrendered to a high kill shelter in the south with his buddy, a little beagle. Their family was no longer able to care for them and had run out of options. Another rescue learned about the two pups and knew they didn't have long particularly, because they were owner surrenders. At the last second they were able to find a temp foster and pull the dogs with hopes of finding other rescues who could help them settle into loving forever homes. When MAGSR was contacted to see if we could help, we immediately answered the call. Kodiak's buddy found safety with a breed specific beagle rescue and Kodiak made the long journey to join the MAGSR family.
Kodiak is an impressive guy. As a mature adult, he is stable, calm, and confident. A social guy, Kodiak enjoys the company of other people and other dogs. He is known to give out big, sloppy kisses to his friends. Kodiak has lived in a home prior to his arrival in our care. As a result, he knows many of the rules of living in a household; however, like any new dog he will need a little time to adjust to his new environment. Kodiak will thrive with structure, guidance, and leadership. This will help him adjust to his new family and routine. Just like all dogs, Kodiak will also benefit greatly from training. This will not only help him develop a strong bond with his forever family, but it will also help him learn the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Kodiak is already developing a few basic skills but will need to continue to learn more with his new family. This amazing guy is looking for a family that will commit to him throughout his golden years, could that be with you?
Ted
ADOPTED 08/15/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Sweet Ted was picked up as a stray in the south and brought to a shelter. Although he waited patiently for his family to come and claim him, no one came up to get him. Due to unprecedented issues with overcrowding, the shelter staff knew that Ted would need rescue support to make it out alive. When asked if we could help this guy find a safe and loving forever home, MAGSR knew exactly what to do.
Ted is a friendly guy. He enjoys the company of other both human and canine. His loving personality simply makes him a joy to work with. Although we do not know anything about his past, it is clear that Ted was socialized with people and with dogs. He will need to continue to build his leash manners as it doesn't seem like he has had much practice prior to his arrival. As is true of all shepherds, Ted is looking for a stable household that will provide him with structure and routine. He will also benefit from training as this will help him bond to his forever family as well as develop his good canine citizen skills. We have learned that Ted is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had Ted been provided with regular preventatives. MAGSR has begun Ted's heartworm treatment and Ted is doing very well. The cost of Ted's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but this sweet guy is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Ted's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Ted will need to take it slow for the next couple of months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a sweet and affectionate guy, ask to meet Ted today!
Ralph
ADOPTED 08/14/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Ralph is a big, handsome, social guy. He likes dogs of varied sizes and has clearly been well socialized. As Ralph is still very young, it is critical that his forever family continue to socialize him appropriately. This will help him develop into a stable dog. As a playful guy, Ralph is looking for an active household that will exercise both his mind and his body on a daily basis. As we do not know anything about Ralph's past, in many ways he is a clean slate. He will benefit from structure, routine, and leadership. Ralph's family will need to make sure that he gets into training early. This will help Ralph bond to his forever family; it will also help him develop the skills and confidence he will need to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Ralph is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm prevention. MAGSR is beginning Ralph's heartworm treatment. Although treatment is expensive, sweet Ralph is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Ralph's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Ralph will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished.
If Ralph sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet this boy today.
Updates:Ralph has been in foster for 2 weeks and has changed so much in a short amount of time. When Ralph arrived, he seemed to be nervous, unhappy, and a bit fearful. He quickly attached himself to his foster mom, but he was standoffish toward the two males in the home. After one session with a trainer, we learned some techniques to get him to warm up to the males. After a couple of days, he was a completely different dog! He is now Mr. Happy Go Lucky and friendly to everyone, including multiple strangers (male and female) who have come to the foster's home in the last week.
Ralph loves other dogs. He loves his foster brother Vader, and they would play together well if we could let him (we can’t yet because he is heartworm positive). He sleeps in the crate at night. He goes in easily (with a treat!), Ralph is housebroken (as long as you are paying attention to his clue). Ralph is learning to walk on a leash, and is nonreactive when he sees other dogs on our walks. Ralph has started to learn his commands, such as sit. He is a smart, fast learner. He does not chew things he shouldn’t, and occasionally plays with a bone. Overall, Ralph is a happy, loving dog who would do well with any family. He craves affection. His favorite thing is bellyrubs – when we approach him, he often drops to his back to give us the sign!
Fred
ADOPTED 08/14/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Marquis
ADOPTED 08/12/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Marquis was purchased as a puppy. Unfortunately, his family did not realize how large he would become and quickly discovered that they did not have the time or resources for a large breed dog. Recognizing that they would not be able to properly care for Marquis, they began reaching out for help. When asked to help this pup move forward, MAGSR stepped up.
True of all puppies, Marquis is a playful and inquisitive guy. Unfortunately, his family did not provide him with many opportunities to socialize with people and other animals. As a result, this boy is shy and does need time to adjust to new people and situations. Marquis' forever family will need to make sure to give him plenty of opportunities to socialize in controlled settings. This is essential for all dogs as it helps them develop into stable and confident adults. Training will also be critical for Marquis as it will help him bond to his forever family; it will also help him begin developing the skills he will need to become a good canine citizen. Although Marquis is a cutie, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their families. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they whine, get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, and training, Marquis will develop into the amazing dog we know he is destined to be. If this pup sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Clover

Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Charming Clover was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. Upon arrival it was highly evident to staff members that Clover was in need of help and fast. Emaciated to the point where she was struggling to walk and covered in ticks, shelter staff did what they could to make her comfortable and then began asking for help. Recognizing that Clover would need to be transferred to a vet for support and monitoring, they requested that she be moved immediately. When the call went out for help, we knew this little girl would be right at home in the MAGSR family.
Clover is clearly in pain but she remains sweet and loving. She has been moved to one of our amazing vetting partners so that we can meet her medical needs. As care has begun, we have discovered that in addition to her other medical needs Clover is also heartworm positive. This could have been avoided if she had received monthly heartworm prevention. Clover's heartworm treatment will begin as soon as she gains some much needed strength. The cost of Clover's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Clover is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Clover's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her as well as other dogs with medical needs. Clover will need to take it slow over the next few months. This will help her body heal so that she can move forward with a forever family. As we are just getting to know Clover, we will provide updates soon.
Updates:Clover had bilateral FHO's (Femoral Head Ostectomy) completed on Monday, April 12th. She had some older fractures as well; however, as they had already set, the surgeon could not repair these. While under the surgeon went to spay Clover and discovered that she had a pyometra so, Clover was lucky that the decision was made to spay her while she was under.
In order to keep Clover comfortable and calm, she is receiving some good pain medication. PT exercises have begun. However, as Clover moves forward she will need extensive Physical Therapy in order to heal appropriately.
Your generosity has funded Clover's surgery but, of course, the need persists for funding to support our ongoing medical commitments. Please donate to help.
Aout a month ago, Clover moved in with her foster family. She easily won everyone in the household over with her lovely personality. When looking into those beautiful, soft eyes and your heart simply melts. Clover is gentle but timid when first meeting new people. It is very evident that she was mistreated prior to her arrival. Given a little time and patience she snuggles right up to her people for head rubs and attention. Her precious tail wags bring smiles to everyone she meets.
Clover has healed well from her surgery and has begun rehab. The fantastic staff at Paradise Animal Hospital are working with Clover as she relearns how to walk. Clover loves pool time with their staff and has been an incredible patient as she builds her muscles and overall strength. Practice at home is a breeze as Clover loves to be with her people and is happy to complete her daily exercises. Over the next couple months Clover will continue to work with her rehab team to gain back full function of her back-end. As she is still so young and clearly very resilient, a full recovery is expected.
Clover is living with kids, cats, and dogs. She is patient and curious with the kids. When they are quiet and calm, she will come up for kisses and tail wags. Clover also seems to enjoy the dogs and the cats in the household particularly, those that are calm. She makes her way up to them with little tail wags. She is definitely curious about her foster pack but prefers to take her time making new friends.
Clover is ready to move forward into a home that will provide her with safety, security, and plenty of love. Could that be with you?
Bonita

Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Beautiful Bonita was picked up as a stray in a busy city with her two pups - Hermosa and Guapo. This sweet little family was taken to an overcrowded animal shelter where they waited to be claimed. When no one arrived to bring them home, a plea went out for help. We knew this little family deserved the comfort and safety of a home and stepped up to help.
Bonita is a sweet but timid girl. She is gentle but would prefer that her people give her a little time to adjust. With patience Bonita warms up and begins to let her personality shine. As we do not know anything about her past, in many ways Bonita is starting fresh. She will likely need to learn the ins and outs of living in the comfort and safety of a household. With structure, patience, and leadership, we are sure that Bonita will thrive. Training will be a critical piece of Bonita's transition as it will help her bond to her forever family while also building the stability and confidence she needs to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Bonita is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had she been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Bonita's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but this sweet little momma is definitely worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Bonita's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her as well as other dogs with medical needs. Bonita will need to take it slow for the next few months as her body will need time to heal. However, this will give her the chance to adjust to her forever family. If this special girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
