Ahsoka
ADOPTED 12/09/2018!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Maren was surrendered to us as her elderly caregivers were moving and could not keep her. She has not had any training or guidance, nor has she been exposed to the world around her. She will need a family who will commit to training to help her build her confidence and of course to learn good canine manners. It is important that Maren has ongoing socialization and is introduced to the sounds, sights and smells of the world. It is her families job to guide her, work with her daily, provide lots of playtime, exercise, love and care.
Updates:Ahsoka, formerly known as Maren, unfortunately has been returned as she was too protective of her home. She did not like when visitors came to the home. This can be managed by putting her away in a secure room and/or crate when people come to the home. She will also benefit greatly from a strong leader who will provide appropriate correction and training. She would do best in a home that does not have frequent visitors and with a family that is willing to put her away when visitors do come. She desperately needs someone who will commit to her to help her learn good manners through a good training program.
Ahsoka is doing beautifully in her foster home. She loves her foster dad, who takes her on bike rides/runs, and she's in love with the resident dogs, especially the male. Ahsoka stays focused on her handler and looks to them for guidance, so as long as the handler is in charge, Ahsoka is a happy and well behaved girl. She doesn't much like things that startle her, but corrects quickly and easily from reacting. Ahsoka will still need to be managed properly to ensure success for her and everyone else involved, which is why Ahsoka will only meet those who have prior experience with the breed. Ahsoka has come a long way - she is a happy and confident girl now and is waiting patiently for that special family to pick her. Is that you?
Roxie
ADOPTED 12/09/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Roxie is your typical playful and curious puppy. Please be prepared for a puppy as they are time consuming, they need training, socialization, lots of exercise and a lifetime of love and care. Yes, puppies chew things they shouldn't, they get into things, they have potty accidents and they have lots of energy.
Natasha
ADOPTED 12/08/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Natasha made her way to us from a shelter, with no history. She did have an embedded collar which was removed and cleaned up, it is healing nicely. She is a pretty, young, energetic girl that has so much to learn. She will learn all that she needs to be a well mannered girl at training with her new family. She will require daily exercise, along with direction, set boundaries and patience.
Rambo
ADOPTED 12/08/2018!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Rambo came to us as owner surrender as his former person was not able to continue to care for him. Rambo is a friendly boy, although he is unsettled with the recent changes in his life. He needs time to adjust to all of the changes. He can be mouthy when things he shouldn't have are taken away from him. Training, of course, will help him learn manners, work on any unwanted behaviors and help him settle into life with a new family. He lived with a cat in his previous home and we are told he did fine. He is currently in a foster home being given time to adjust to losing his home and family. His foster will provide an update soon.
Joe Joe
ADOPTED 12/05/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sadly Joe Joes person passed away which left Joe Joe living in an outside pen. Thankfully the person who cared for Joe Joe's person while he was ill contacted us to take him into our care. His pen was muddy, as was his food bowl and his water bowl was green. He was covered in mud and feces. Joe Joe is very confused at this time, the recent changes have him scared. He is such a sweet, friendly boy. He craves human affection, he will lean into you for security and petting. Not having any information on him, we are learning as we go. With his friendly personality, we are confident with time he will adjust to the better life he is now experiencing.
Kovu
ADOPTED 11/24/2018!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Kovu has not had much stability in his life, he has had 3 families before coming into our care. His last person realized that he needed more than she could provide in the way of training and knew that he needed an experienced family to help him adjust to a new life. Kovu has not been well socialized or provided with proper training. He can be protective of his person if he feels you are not in control. He will bark at people he doesn't know, but takes correction and redirection well. He needs slower introductions to new people, dogs and situations in order for him to feel comfortable. Training is an absolute must for Kovu and his new family as this will help everyone learn more about Kovu and get him on the right track. Kovu will only meet those with a lot of experience with the breed and are strong, knowledgeable handlers. Kovu needs someone who is going to commit to him, provide him with direction and consistency in his life. Our volunteers are working with him, he learns quickly.
Updates:Kovu has settled into his foster home. Kovu has become affectionate and attentive to his foster dad. Unfortunately, Kovu was inexperienced, untrained and poorly socialized when arriving into MAGSR’s care. Kovu is anxious when meeting new people and needs a handler that understands this to ensure slow introductions with treats. Kovu has a high food drive and responds well to training in obedience with food rewards. Kovu has been confident learning new things and being placed in new situations. Poor Kovu must never have had toys before because he has discovered toys in his foster home – balls, tug ropes, etc.and has a fairly strong ball drive. Kovu is respectful in the home when not crated and is housebroken; however he likes to counter surf at times, and has a special interest in used paper towels. Kovu would do well in a quiet home without young kids or other pets. If Kovu sounds like he could be a match for your family, and you have experience with GSDs, please ask to meet him today.
Bella
ADOPTED 11/19/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bella is your typical playful and curious puppy. Please be prepared for a puppy as they are time consuming, they need training, socialization, lots of exercise and a lifetime of love and care. Yes, puppies chew things they shouldn't, they get into things, they have potty accidents and they have lots of energy.
Updates:Bella is settling into her foster home. She is great with the resident children and snuggles right up for some love. She loves playing with the resident dogs. Up until this point Bella hasn't had an accident in the house and does well in her crate as long as there are no people around. If you are looking for a puppy that already has some skills in housebreaking and crate training, Bella is the girl for you! Ask to meet her!!
Bradford
ADOPTED 11/19/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bradford was a frequent flyer at his local shelter as his previous family did nothing to ensure his safety. He was constantly leaving the property and being picked up running the streets. Thankfully this very big handsome boy is now safe in our care and is now looking for a family that will ensure his safety by not allowing him to be outside unsupervised or wandering the streets. Bradford has a calm disposition and is so gentle for such a large boy. However, when he gets more comfortable, he is powerful in his movements, largely because of his size and needs a strong handler. Bradford is very timid and unsure at this time and therefore is considered a flight risk. Structure and building his confidence is what this sweet boy needs. Training will do him wonders and help create a bond with his new family.
Nika
ADOPTED 11/18/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Nika is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Nika has been through a lot in the last few days and just arrived from a long transport into our care. She is still settling into her new living arrangements and getting use to her surroundings. This seems to have upset Nika and she will need time to settle in. She was fine with our volunteers, but can be nervous with too many people handling her. For this reason we will not place her in a home with children at this time. We will update once Nika has settled more and we get to know her better
Updates:Nika is a lovely female German Shepherd on the smaller side. She is settling in to her foster home slowly but steadily. It is clear that she is still a little unsure of what has happened to her, but from her behavior, her foster family is certain Nika has been in a home situation before. Nika loves playing on the long line leash, which gives her lots of room to run and exercise. She is a very curious girl, wanting to sniff and check everything out, but is starting to return to her handler from the end of the leash when asked to come. She also knows sit, when she is reminded. Nika is working on not jumping up to greet people, by having them turn away and ignore her until she sits. Nika has been slow to start eating, but is finally getting on a normal schedule. When adopted, her new family will need to be patient when she first goes home with them; until she feels safer and more comfortable, she may not show much interest in food. She is very well-behaved in her crate, and although she doesn’t love going into it on her own, she will do so and lays down quietly until it is time to play again! She has successfully met three different dogs here on the farm, two males and one female puppy. She was appropriately tentative about the introductions, but did not show any aggression or dominance which required intervention. After the first few moments, all was well. Her foster mom has not had the opportunity to observe her interactions with children of any age yet.
Nika does stairs easily and is learning more about walking properly on a leash, but will need to go to training to become a better canine citizen, as all dogs should. She learns quickly and loves to play with and chew on her ball. She is not particularly food-driven, and prefers to take any chew-treats she is given and hide them. Nika is going to be a wonderful dog for someone looking for a dog past the puppy years and habits, but with years of love to give. Having had numerous foster dogs, Nika easily joins the ranks of one of her foster family’s easiest fosters. In the right home situation, after time settling in and when she is feeling secure, Nika will make an outstanding addition to a lucky family.
Gabby
ADOPTED 11/17/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Gabby's elderly former person had a bad fall and is now bedridden. Sadly she was no longer able to care for Gabby. Gabby is a high energy girl, she will require someone who will commit to exercising her daily in order to keep her energy in check. She also will benefit greatly from training, this will teach her good canine manners, along with building a bond with her new family. She is sweet and friendly, travels well in a vehicle.
Oti
ADOPTED 11/17/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Oti is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
We have no idea what Oti is mixed with, but we know it is a whole lot of cuteness. He is patiently waiting to find his forever home and family. With some basic obedience training and structure from his family he will learn good canine manners. As our volunteers get to know him better we will post updates.
Updates:Wow...hang on to your hat when you meet Oti! He's nothing but pure excitement, and twists, and turns, and jumps and all kinds of happy! Our volunteers are working with Oti to curb his jumping - this boy just gets very excited and happy to see people! He walks well on leash and knows sit, both with and without treats, and down with treats. Continuing his training, as with all dogs, is a must. Oti takes his treats gently, loves his belly rubs and pets, and is definitely a leaner. He's a very friendly dog, not aggressive to other dogs at all, even when they bark at him, he just wants to play! He also likes to play fetch and brings the ball right back to you, or at least, somewhere near you. Oti really needs someone to love on and spend some time with him in the worst way - could that someone be you?
Bourke
ADOPTED 11/17/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bourke was a frequent flyer at his local shelter as his previous family did nothing to ensure his safety. He was constantly leaving the property and being picked running the streets. Thankfully this big handsome boy is now safe in our care and is now looking for a family that will ensure his safety by not allowing him wander the streets. Bourke has a calm, laid back personality. It is required that his new family take him to training so that he can be the best he can be.
Valerie
ADOPTED 11/11/2018!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Valerie is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
She is a little skittish at this time which is understandable after all of the recent changes she has endured. She can take a little bit of time to warm up to new people, but once she does she is very playful. She also enjoys the company of other dogs.
Updates:Valerie is settling in to her foster home. She is quiet and a total sweetheart, but very skittish girl. Valerie loves her crate and dog bed, she's great walking and circles some because of different noises that startle her. Valerie is working on her obedience commands. Once Valerie gets to know her human, she greets tail wagging and loves to give kisses and get attention. Valerie also likes the resident dog and feels more comfortable having another dog around. At this time, Valerie is considered a high flight risk and needs a quiet and calm household, which is why we've marked her for older kids only. Valerie needs a patient human who will commit to her and love her and let her trust again. If Valerie sounds like a match for your family, and you can have the patience to go slow to gain her trust, ask to meet her.
Valerie is settling in to her foster home. Valerie is a warm, happy go lucky dog who loves attention. She loves being around her human friends. Valerie will be best suited for a house that has a fenced in yard because she likes some privacy when doing her business. She needs a sturdy plastic crate or stronger when left alone to keep her inside the crate. She enjoys the company of other dogs and would do well in a home with another dog and loves chasing each other around and playing. If you're willing to give Valerie a chance, please ask to meet her today!
Valerie has settled in nicely and come out of her shell. She happily comes to her humans wagging her tail. When Valerie lays down, she makes funny noises. She loves dog beds, and lays on them while her humans are home and at night. Valerie is getting better with new people. She's understanding that humans are friendly, but she's still a little skittish. When we go for walks, Valerie is on squirrel alert. When she sees a squirrel her head pops up, her tail wags like crazy, and she runs around. She's the cutest little thing when she does that. When Valerie and the resident dog go to a fenced in place, they play off leash, run around and chase each other. Valerie is looking for a forever home with a forever person - can you be that person?
Dakota
ADOPTED 11/11/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Dakota came to us from a shelter. We have been told that she is a people person, enjoying being by your side and following you around. She also adores children according to the report we received. She has been around cats, but she seeks them out to play. This may be too rough for some cats if not properly managed. We are also told that she is good with dogs of all sizes. Sadly it looks as though she was used for breeding then dumped. She has no leash skills at this time, but this is something our volunteers will work on. She requires training to teach her good manners. She has energy as she is young and will require daily exercise.
Nala
ADOPTED 11/11/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Nala is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Nala looks to have led a hard life, but that has all changed now. Her future is bright, one filled with love and care. She is a sweet girl with a wonderful demeanor.
Updates:Nala is settling in to her foster home. Nala has a had a rough life and hasn't had much love and attention. Nala is a little skittish and but learning to trust her foster family. She has become more relaxed, confident and outgoing every day. Nala loves her human companions and likes being close to them when walking and in the house. Nala will do great in a home with someone who is relaxed and patient and who has the time and desire to take slow walks around the block. If Nala sounds like the perfect companion for you, ask to meet her today.
Nala is feeling much better now that she is getting the love and care she so much deserves. She is learning to trust and becoming more confident in her foster home. She shows she is happy and bounces around the yard. She walks well on leash and off leash and she likes to walk very close to her human. Nala is very quiet and submissive. She gets along with kids and other dogs with easy introductions. If Nala sounds like the girl for you, please ask to meet her.
Nala's foster reports that she is a sweetheart with the temperament of a therapy dog. Nala loves to be close to her humans, and if you let her, she'll climb into her human's lap. Nala has taken over the comfy couch with the resident GSD and they get along really well - they are quite smitten with one another. Nala is waiting patiently for her fur-ever home to give her a life of love and comfort. If that home could be yours, please ask to meet this very sweet girl.
Sheeba
ADOPTED 10/31/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sheeba found herself at a shelter needing rescue. She is a young, high energy, untrained pup that needs a family who will commit to training and providing her with structure. It's obvious no one has taken the time to teach her manners. She will require a family who has the time and patience it will take to burn off her energy by going for walks, playtime and of course training. She is an absolute love, smothering people with puppy kisses and lobbying for your attention and affection.
Updates:Young Sheeba has greatly benefited from her 13 weeks of professional training at Stateline Canine. Originally, she found herself at a shelter and didn’t know much about interacting properly with the world when she came to MAGSR. But after professional training, she is much more able to enjoyably interact with people and normal daily activities. She is much more observant of her handler now, and has learned basic commands. Her leash skills have also improved a great deal. She has completed on & off leash training and comes with private lessons for her future owners. Sheeba has an awesome temperament and will be a wonderful companion for an active person or family. She needs a home that will give her an outlet for her energy and will follow through with the training. She has a lot of energy and had zero focus and no ability to settle prior to training. She is very social with people and works very well once bonded with someone. Sheeba is ready to move on to a forever home. If you would like to meet Sheeba, she is ready to meet you and your family! Please ask to meet Sheeba today!
Corona
ADOPTED 10/30/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Corona's persons new job involves a lot of travel, with long periods of time away from home. Knowing he could no longer provide her with a stable home she was returned to us. Corona has gone through obedience training, but it is important that her new family also take her to training so that you learn to work together and create a bond. Corona is a friendly girl, she enjoys going for walks and playing fetch.
Gunner
ADOPTED 10/28/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Gunner is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Gunner is handsome golden boy. We are not sure if he has any GSD mixed in, but he needed a place to start a new life so we welcomed him with opened arms. As he just arrived in our care we are still learning more about him, so watch for updates.
Updates:
Gunner came to us from South Carolina by way of Tennessee, thanks to hurricane Florence. This poor baby has had a lot of upheaval in his short life and all he wants is love. He's a leaner, and a licker, and he loves naps in the sun, such a gentle soul. He doesn't know many commands, but he's a super fast learner. Gunner needs someone who will show him kindness and take it slow to reassure him he's safe, loved and won't be jostled about anymore. Could that someone be you?
Murphy
ADOPTED 10/27/2018!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Murphy made his way to us from a shelter where he was a stray. We have no past history for him, so we are getting to know him. He requires a slower approach when meeting new people. He is in need of training which will help him learn good manners, build his confidence and bond with his new family.
Updates:Murphy is an interesting high energy pup. He’s likely had very little structure in his life to this point and is in need of a strong willed person or family to help guide his future and provide consistent and strong structure, especially with his indoor manners. He’s easy to leash up and walk, both on long and short leash. He’s loves car rides but seems unfamiliar with exiting or entering the car. He is unfamiliar with stairs but is learning to handle them quickly. He has a very high ball drive and will bring the ball back to his human as long as the ball is thrown again. Murphy loves his humans of all ages and wants to be with them always. He needs some work on his manners and is prone to countertop surfing. He also needs help learning that his crate is a safe place to stay. He takes treats gently and is very treat motivated. He is happy to work with anyone willing to give him a chance, could that be you?
Murphy is a sweet boy who takes time to get to know you. Once he decides you're his friend, you are allowed the honor of bestowing belly rubs! And then come the kisses! He's great on leash, sitting at stops while in heel, knows basic obedience and follows his handler. He's VERY food driven, which is a very handy training tool. He is going to need someone who can commit to the exercise and training he needs to keep his mind and body healthy. He's such a handsome boy, do you think you have room for Murphy in your heart and home?
Ari
ADOPTED 10/20/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Ari is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Those ears are precious and that face melts your heart, such a sweet boy. Ari would love to be apart of your family in his forever home. He is settling into his foster home so please watch for updates from his foster family.
Updates:Ari is a very sweet dog who is quite gentle and loves his humans. He has learned that stairs are not scary and can even be fun to run up and down on. He is respectful of boundaries in the home (no dogs in kitchen). He is easy to walk on leash, even if his heel is not perfect yet. Ari is aware of other dogs, but does not seem interested nor bothered by them, even if they are barking at him from across the street. Ari is good at staying quietly in the crate for a couple of hours. Ari has a great bark and likes to let the mailman know when he comes to the door. Ari sleeps well through the night on his doggie bed. Ari is working hard on housebreaking and is doing a great job. Ari is a very laid back dog, but does have moments of being playful. If Ari sounds like a good fit for your family, ask to meet him.
Arbor
ADOPTED 10/20/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Arbor was surrendered as his person said she had no time for him. Arbor is very much a teenager and is in need of obedience training and structure. He can be very protective of his person which needs to be corrected. While this is a trait found in German Shepherds it does need to be managed by their person. He has good leash manners and is crate trained. He is currently settling into his foster home, watch for updates.
Updates:Arbor is starting to relax in his foster home with two resident dogs: a young bossy female shepherd and a laid-back adult male. He likes the human children in the home and is learning not to jump on them, which is how he says I love you right now.
He’s completely unfazed by the roughhousing and noise that accompany young children and so far does not seem to have any objections to having any part of his body touched. Arbor is also learning that humans do not like affectionate nibbles on their ear and hands while receiving kisses. He takes correction nicely.
Arbor is being fed in his crate and that’s where he keeps his bones too. He is not happy when the resident dogs approach the crate while he has food or a food treat in there. He doesn’t seem concerned about the toys. He does not react to the children approaching the crate while he has food in there but that is still being very carefully supervised. He brings balls and toys to the kids to play.
Arbor appears to be housebroken and doesn’t mind the crate. He likes to go for walks and has excellent leash manners. Arbor is very happy to come inside after his walk and knows after 2 days which house he goes into.
Arbor really wants a forever home. He would like to have kids throw balls for him and to go to training to learn good manners. He would be fine as an only dog or with a laid back resident dog. If he goes to live with another high energy dog he will need an owner who is experienced in being the boss while they establish boundaries.
Unfortunately, Arbor tested heartworm positive when seen by MAGSR's vet. This could have been avoided had he been kept on monthly heartworm preventatives. Arbor is in the beginning stages of his heartworm treatment, which of course MAGSR will pay for his entire treatment. Treatment is expensive, but Arbor is certainly worth the cost. Donations towards his treatment would be greatly appreciated, this would also help us save other dogs with medical needs. He will have to take it slow for the next few months while he undergoes treatment, so lots of rest will be in order.
Bria
ADOPTED 10/17/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bria, along with other family members, were dumped at the shelter. Not often we are happy when dogs are dumped at shelters, but in this case, they are lucky they were. The family of Shepherds lived outside, no vet care, no vaccines, no preventatives. Bria has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Bria will become even more of an amazing girl than she already is. Please inquire if Bria sounds like a good match for your family.
Merle
ADOPTED 10/17/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Merle is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Merle is such a sweet, handsome boy. He is a little underweight, approximately 10 more lbs would be his ideal weight. He is in a foster home and seems to be housebroken and crate trained. He knows some basic commands such as sit, stay, paw and down. He enjoys playing with toys and fetch. As he settles more into his foster home his foster family will provide updates.
Updates:Merle has been in his foster home for a little over a week, so we know a few more details about him. Merle is a young, handsome boy who has definitely known the comforts of a home in the past. He is fully housebroken – he does well on a schedule and controls himself accordingly. Merle is also crate-trained and goes into his crate without resisting when asked to do so. He knows a couple commands (sit, down, stay, paw) and works for treats, toys or praise. He does not know to heel while walking, but is not difficult to walk on leash. Merle loves toys and will play for hours, usually wanting his human to join with him. He has great ball drive and will fetch/retrieve as long as you are willing to throw it. Merle is very athletic, with a smaller, slim build, and thus suitable for a lot of outdoor doggy activities, which he loves. Merle bonds deeply and quickly and can become protective of his space and his humans. This will need to be addressed with both training and a strong handler. He will also benefit greatly from a strong leader who will provide appropriate correction and training. Slow introductions to new people and animals seem to work best for him. Once he accepts a newcomer, he's very social. Merle is a great young dog, looking for his perfect home. Could that be yours??
Emilia
ADOPTED 10/15/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Emilia along with other family members were dumped at a shelter. Not often we are happy when dogs are dumped at shelters, but in this families case they are lucky they were. The family of Shepherds lived outside, no vet care, no vaccines, no preventatives. They were all crawling with fleas and ticks. Emilia is so very sweet, she enjoyed spending time with our volunteers being loved on. Right now she is more comfortable with women, she can be skittish of men. She did well in the car and at the vets for her exam. Emilia has never been on a leash, she is working on that. Training will help her build self confidence and form a bond with her new family. Emilia deserves to know what a real family is, one that will love, care for and cherish her.

Beck, along with other family members, were dumped at the shelter. Not often we are happy when dogs are dumped at shelters, but in this case, they are lucky they were. The family of Shepherds lived outside, no vet care, no vaccines, no preventatives. Beck has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Beck will become even more of an amazing boy than he already is. Please inquire if Beck sounds like a good match for your family.

Cane is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Cane is handsome golden boy. We are not sure if he has any GSD mixed in, but he needed a place to start a new life so we welcomed him with opened arms. As he just arrived in our care we are still learning more about him, so watch for updates.

Kit is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Kit is settling into his new foster home where his foster family is getting to know him better. He is young and so ready to learn all that he needs to know. Training will do wonders for both Kit and his new family, it will teach both how to work together and create a lifelong bond. Please watch for updates from his foster family.
Updates:Kit is settling into his foster home just great. He is so loving and VERY bouncy! He's a big goofball so if you like to laugh. You'll love watching his antics! He does great in his kennel and with other dogs. If Kit sounds like a good fit for you, ask to meet him!
Kit is settling in to his foster home. Kit is working on building confidence and is learning fast his commands, like heel. He's working on housebreaking to break bad habits from the kennel life he knew before MAGSR and he's doing a good job. He ignores the resident cat when he's out walking around. Kit is currently working on Sit-Stay and Down-Stay with his foster mom and loves to just bounce around, which is really fun to watch. If Kit sounds like he could be a good fit for you, please ask to meet him.

Oakley, along with other family members, were dumped at shelter. Not often we are happy when dogs are dumped at shelters, but in this case, they are lucky they were. The family of Shepherds lived outside, no vet care, no vaccines, no preventatives. Oakley is very scared and confused and will need someone who can go slow with him. Oakley has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Oakley will become even more of an amazing boy than he already is. Please inquire if Oakley sounds like a good match for your family.
Updates:Oakley is learning about being in a house with a family. It was obvious that he didn't know much about being inside. He was even scared to go through the door. Oakley is making great strides, and while loud noises and unexpected movement can startle him, he recovers quickly and is back to his happy self with a constantly wagging tale. He seems to get along just fine with the resident kids in the house, and hasn't seemed interested in the cat, though that could change once he is use to all of the new things in his life. He seems to enjoy having an older, calm canine companion to show him the ropes. In just a few days he has learned to do the stairs and is sitting on command. He is a smart puppy that is going to make a really great family dog.

Corona has gone through obedience training, but it is important that her new family also take her to training so that you learn to work together and create a bond. Her foster family reports that she is a love and maybe the easiest foster they have ever had. Khaleesi is crate trained and uses her crate as a safe place to decompress. Murphy
ADOPTED 09/29/2018!
