Kalani

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help. Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Kalani was found wandering country roads, she was taken to a shelter. She is underweight, but will begin to gain weight with regular nutritious meals. She is such a love, she enjoys belly rubs, leaning into her person for petting and she is full of kisses and tail wags. Training of course is required, as we want Kalani to have good canine manners. She is young, so be prepared for an energetic girl who will require daily exercise.
Updates:Kalani is settling into her new surroundings which is helping us get to know her better. Energizer bunny comes to mind when describing her energy. She is a busy girl, she enjoys her time in the play yard with all of the toys, but some tough toys are in order for this mega chewer. She is still working on improving her leash manners, that will come with daily leash walks. Kalani can be mouthy, not realizing her sharp teeth hurt. If you are looking for a running partner, live an active lifestyle and have the energy and time, ask to meet Kalani
Kalani is settling in to her foster home. In so many ways, Kalani is just a puppy with normal puppy behaviors - curious, uncertain, brave, funny, sweet and anxious. She's a chewer and loves to chew so it's important to keep her busy on chewing only those things which she is allowed to have. She is crate trained and learning sit and is food-motivated making her easier to train for simple commands. Kalani has a high prey drive and when combined with her playful puppy mouthiness, she can become a little worked up. Kalani has the great potential to be a wonderful dog. She is a sweet young girl looking for a forever home to provide consistency, structure and training with a handler who has prior experience with the breed so she can reach her full potential and correct some of her puppy habits which are inappropriate for a dog of her age. Young Kalani has greatly benefited from her 6 weeks of professional training at K-9 Koncepts. Originally found as a stray, she didn’t know much about interacting properly with the world when she came to us. But after professional training, she is much more able to enjoyably interact with people and normal daily activities. She is much more observant of her handler now, and has learned basic commands. Her leash skills have also improved a great deal, since she is much more focused on her handler and less concerned with random activity nearby. She is still the same happy, lovable, sweet girl she was before, just much easier to handle and more enjoyable to be around. Kalani has learned sit, heel, down, stay, and come to various degrees (all of course will need to be reinforced by continued proper training and handling), and is ready to move on to a forever home. Rambo

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help. Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Rambo came to us as owner surrender as his former person was not able to continue to care for him. Rambo is a friendly boy, although he is unsettled with the recent changes in his life. He needs time to adjust to all of the changes. He can be mouthy when things he shouldn't have are taken away from him. Training, of course, will help him learn manners, work on any unwanted behaviors and help him settle into life with a new family. He lived with a cat in his previous home and we are told he did fine. He is currently in a foster home being given time to adjust to losing his home and family. His foster will provide an update soon.

One of the largest puppy mill busts found hundreds of German Shepherd's living in absolute filth and in horrendous condition. Ankle deep mud and feces mixed with urine, no adequate shelter, lacking food and clean water is how these dogs were left to live, many for years. The urgent call was made and MAGSR knew we had to take in as many as possible. We now have 38 dogs that have a multitude of medical needs that we are addressing, and they need to learn to trust humans. All dogs are scared, some are shut down, but our volunteers and vets will get them on their road to recovery. It will be awhile before these dogs are ready for adoption, so please be patient and watch for updates.
An undertaking of this size for an all-volunteer rescue is quite a task, but one we are meeting it head on. Many of the dogs require medical boarding so that they can receive the best possible care. We are committed to providing everything they need, not only medically, but emotionally. Our medical costs are going to be at an amount we have never seen before. We need your help, the dogs need your help. Please donate, your donation will go towards their ongoing care, medical needs, emotional needs and help them on their road to recovery and a brighter future.
Acton

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help. Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Acton was a stray to a shelter, so we have no prior history. During his time with us he has been friendly with our volunteers and did well with dog introductions. Training is imperative with all dogs that are adopted from us, they need to learn manners and become accustomed to their home and family life.
Updates:Some great things about Acton - he loves people. He really loves snuggles and will get up nice and close for attention. Acton loves to play ball and definitely knows what toys are. When he needs to go potty, Acton will let you know. When on a walk, Acton always talks care of his business and is really good about redirecting if needed. Once the household is settled, Acton will also settle down and relax. This guy is a great companion for someone who likes to take long walks and would likely be good for a runner.

Melina came to us from a not so good situation. She was used as a breeding dog, she was not provided with proper care or adequate living conditions. Thankfully after complaints and an investigation she, along with other dogs were confiscated. Melina is now in our care where she is looking for a family that will provide her with a loving and warm home, where she means more to her family than just a puppy machine. Melina is shy and somewhat skittish of humans, but you can see just how much she wants to be loved on by humans. She's a dog's dog and seems will need canine companionship to thrive as she comes out her shell with other dogs. A dog to play with in the home would be the best match for her. She of course will need a patient family that will show her being a part of a caring family is a wonderful thing. Please ask about Melina, give her what she has never experienced before...a loving family, a soft bed, a warm home, guidance and structure. She's waiting for you.
Updates:Melina is settling into her foster home. She has has no accidents in her crate and takes care of business as soon as she goes outside. Her foster mom feels it is safe to say that Melinda is crate trained and housebroken. Melina cowers and tries to bolt when getting out of her crate and is considered a high flight risk so extra precautions must be taken with her. Melina walks well on a leash but hits the ground if startled by a noise or sudden moves. She cries some when left alone. Melina is looking for a quiet home where she'll have someone who will treat her with the respect and love she deserves. If Melina sounds like a good fit for your home, and you have the patience to take your time with her to allow her to trust you, then ask to meet her.
Riptide

Riptide was originally adopted from a shelter, where he then went on to live his life on a chain with not enough food and no shelter. This is why it is so important that anyone wanting to adopt a dog is checked out by shelters and rescues. Riptide was promised a better a life when the shelter adopted him but that is not what he received. That is all changed now that he is with MAGSR, we will make sure he finds a loving and caring family, that can provide him a home, a comfy bed, good nutrition and care. Riptide's name is very fitting, he is a high energy boy that is not sure what to do with new found freedom from the chain. He will need training and structure, along with lots of exercise.
Updates:Unfortunately, Riptide has been returned to us as his adopter fractured her ankle and is non weight bearing. With Riptide’s high energy, she was not able to provide his daily exercise requirements. Riptide was also not doing well with one of their teenage twin daughters. He was fine with one of them. He has been to obedience training, but his new family is required to complete training with him. Training is a great way to learn more about each other, how to work together and create a bond.
Hello there! My name is Riptide. I've gone to two lovely homes now, they loved me, but they couldn't handle my energy. I am so afraid I may never have a home of my own. You see, the first part of my life, I was out on a chain and wasn't shown puppy manners. It seems like all that energy has built up and I've never gotten it out. I have had some training now, so I know sit, down, come and I walk well on a leash. Everyone says I'm a nice boy, I just need a runner, or someone to work me out and train me for cool stuff, things like agility, rally or nose work, or maybe give me another dog to play with so I can get this energy out! They say I'm easy to train because I'm food motivated - I say who doesn't like food? I also love playing in the kiddie pool they have at the kennel where I stay for now, but they said it's too cold now. One lady said something about dock diving, I don't know what that is, but if I get to go in the water, I'm all for it! If you're looking for a pup to do something active with, ask to meet me, you might be just what I'm looking for!

Lilly was on the run for sometime, but was finally caught and brought into a rescue. Wanting Lilly to have the best chance at finding a home it was decided she would be better served by a GSD rescue. Lilly is friendly, but a little unsettled, which is to be expected. She is being given time to settle in, watch for updates.
Updates:Lilly is setting into her foster home nicely. She loves her doggy beds. She lays in her doggy bed when she's not around her human, and at night when her humans go to bed - she lays in her doggy bed all night. When her humans move, she pops up and comes over to say Hi and follows around the house. Lilly loves to go outside for walks and is very easy to walk. She's very food motivated and loves when she gets treats. Lilly likes dogs of her own size and is somewhat shy around new people but will warm up with treats. When she first came to her foster home, she did not want to get in vehicles, and whined, but by the third day, she jumped in the car and was excited to go for a ride. Lilly is looking for a fur-ever home.

Updates:Lottie is a gentle soul that has endured way more than any dog should have in her short life. She is a work in progress. She should remain on leash in and outside the home as she still skittish and is gaining confidence of new surroundings. She bonds very quickly and has shown some signs of separation anxiety. When Lottie is anxious or stressed she tends to jump up on her handler for reassurance. She will need a patient adopter that is willing to work through this with her. She isn't fond of a crate and requires some assistance and treats to go in. Lottie will require another dog in the home as she gets very anxious when she is completely alone and will whine and bark until her human returns. Lottie walks well on a leash and enjoys walks. We are diligently working on house breaking but aren't quite there yet although she does not soil her crate at night. She does sleep soundly in her crate for up to 9 hours as long as she is in the room with her human and doggie companions. She enjoys snuggling and is happiest snuggled in the lap of a human. Lastly, Lottie is extremely treat motivated, loves peanut butter and marrow bones. If interested in meeting Lottie, please contact us.
