Aspen
ADOPTED 03/04/2025!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Aspen is a senior MAGSR alumni. Her amazing mom welcomed her as a senior into her family and planned on ensuring that she lived out her lifes in the comfort, peace, and security of her home. However, when her mom passed away suddenly, this amazing girl found herself in need of a new home. Aspen was her mom's heart; she loved her beyond words. Knowing she would want them to have a place to grieve, rest, and find comfort, we welcomed Aspen back to the MAGSR family.
Although she has seen her fair share of loss, Aspen is sweet, friendly, and loving. Aspen is social, friendly, and joyful. She brings happiness to everyone she meets.
Updates:Aspen is such a sweet gem of a girl. She loves affection from people, and gets so excited to be around anyone and everyone. Having clearly been showered with love and affection throughout her life, Aspen loves to return this gift as often as possible. She is a low key kind of girl who enjoys getting to lounge around in her dog bed or going for short walks around the yard. A big fan of the outdoors, Aspen will even get a spunky pep in her step every now and then when outside. When hanging out with her people, Aspen is always willing and ready to accept a good back scratching and ear rubbing from anyone who offers. This lovely lady simply can't pass on a little extra attention.
In previous homes, Aspen lived with dogs. This trend has continued with her incredible foster family. Currently living with two dogs, Aspen has remained easy going and has done well when interacting with them. She also hasn’t paid much mind to the cats when they are around and is likely good with cats.
As Aspen is enjoying her golden years, it may take her a little longer to comply with commands. However, she will happily sit down to take treats and knows basic commands. She may not get around as fast as in her younger days, but Aspen still persists. She is determined to get where she is going even if it takes her a little longer. Although Aspen has seen a lot of changes throughout her life and moved about more often than we would have hoped, she has maintained her sweet, affectionate, and stable personality. She is looking for a loving home that will cherish her throughout her golden years giving plenty of pets, scratches, and giving her daily opportunities to enjoy the fresh air. If Aspen sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet this lovely lady today!
Snow
ADOPTED 03/02/2025!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Snow was pulled from an overcrowded shelter over a year ago by another rescue. She had given birth in the shelter and was kept there while the puppies still needed her. However, once the pups were old enough they were adopted and Snow was left behind. As is true for entirely too many mommies in shelters, once the puppies found forever homes Snow was added to the list to be euthanized. Puppies, when healthy, often find their way home, but older family members are left behind. With shelter numbers in the critical ranges everywhere, this means many of the moms and dads left behind do not make it out alive.
Fortunately, another rescue stepped forward just in time and saved Snow's life. They walked her through heartworm treatment and got Snow all of the vetting she needed to meet with success. Although they thought they had found the perfect home for this pretty girl, unfortunately, she was returned when a serious medical condition was discovered with her adopter. Knowing Snow would be most successful with a breed specific rescue, we were asked to transfer Snow into our care. Knowing this special momma was the right fit for the MAGSR family, our team welcomed her without a second thought.
Snow is an adorable girl. Happy, playful, and a bundle of joy, Snow keeps our volunteers smiling from ear to ear. Well socialized with people and clearly comfortable having been exposed to other dogs, this momma has an amazing personality that she can't wait to share with her forever family. True of so many shepherds, Snow reads the handler well. With clear routines, expectations, and leadership, this lady settles in nicely. Having lived in a home, Snow understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. However, as is true of all new dogs, Snow will need time and patience to adjust to her forever family. Training will be essential to her success. Not only will training help Snow develop a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, it will also help her gain the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Snow is looking for a forever family that enjoys a nice balance of daily playtime and a good snuggle. If Snow is the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.
Updates:Snow has settled in and a personality has emerged. She's energetic, loves playing fetch both indoors and out. Drops the tennis ball at your feet. Knows basic commands. Indoors fetch she leapt the 3 stairs from den to mudroom. Spends a fair bit of the day in her crate, door open. So far we only closed crate door couple times - we went to an O's game on Friday. She sleeps in our BR sometimes, on one of the pup throw rugs. She's dropped a few pounds with all her new activity and is working her way to her ideal weight. She would be a great addition to home, might that be your home?
Really sweet, follows us around.
Comfortable on stairs.
Star
ADOPTED 03/01/2025!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Star and her sister, Noel, were born into a loving household. They lived there happily with another member of their family. Although the girls were cherished, when an unexpected circumstance arose, Star and Noel needed to be rehomed. This was a devastating decision for their family. Hoping they could find them a home on their own, they exhausted resource after resource trying to find an option for the girls. With a system overloaded with dogs and the need to find safe options for both girls, their family had almost given up hope. With one last try, they turned to MAGSR. Recognizing these girls were something special, our team came together to ensure that Star and Noel could move forward safely in the MAGSR family.
Star and Noel are stunning girls. Both a little unsure with new people and in new situations, they need a little time to adjust. When given time, patience, and a safe surrounding, the girls warm up to new people nicely. Having lived with an older child, the Star and Noel would likely do well with calm and respectful children. Star is the more energetic of the girls. She is always ready for a little play time and can often be caught bouncing around with a favorite toy. Star is looking for a household that will support her love for playtime and adventures. She wants to please and will be the "Star" at training. Training is critical to her success. Not only will training help Star develop a healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her build the confidence needed to become a good canine citizen. Having lived in a loving home, Star understands many of the ins and outs of living in a household. She is crate trained and housebroken. However, as is true of all GSDs, she will need time to adjust to the rules and expectations of her forever family. Star is looking for a forever family that will cherish her goofy spirit for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Star today!
Beta
ADOPTED 02/26/2025!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Beta is an intelligent and active guy. He has been adored by his families, but due to circumstances beyond his control, this boy has bounced around more often than we would hope. Recognizing that Beta deserved a home that would understand his breed and his needs, his most recent owner decided it would be best if he was placed with a breed specific rescue. So, when she could no longer provide Beta with the kind of home that she knew he deserved, she reached out to MAGSR for help. Our team knew that Beta was the right match for the rescue and welcomed him to the family. We promised that we would find this guy an incredible forever family that would love him for a lifetime.
Beta is in many ways your typical GSD teenager. He takes in the world around him, loves to keep his nose busy, and doesn't miss a beat. Having bounced around a bit, Beta likes to take a minute to adjust to new people and new environments. However, with a tasty treat he warms up quickly. Beta enjoys a bone to gnaw on and will happily smile and wait for something special. Having participated in some basic training, Beta knows a few commands, but will benefit from training. Not only will training help Beta create a healthy and lasting bond with his forever family, it will also help him develop the skills he needs to become a good canine citizen. Having lived in a household, Beta understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. He is already housebroken and he adores his crate. Structure, routine, and leadership go a long way with this guy. Typical of young shepherds, Beta has a lot of energy and will require a family that can address his needs for exercise, training, and stimulation on a daily basis. A smart guy, Beta picks up new concepts quickly. However, as is true with many young dogs he can get distracted and needs to learn to stay on point. Beta is looking for a forever family that has the time, energy, and patience to help him grow up into a stable and confident adult. If this amazing guy is the right match for your family, ask to meet him today.
Apollo
ADOPTED 02/23/2025!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Apollo's owner loved him greatly but struggled to keep him safe and in the household. As a result, Apollo spent too much time wandering about the neighborhood and checking in with the neighbors. Unfortunately, this resulted in too many trips to animal control. Due to his frequent visits, Animal Control decided that Apollo would be safer if he moved forward with a new family.
Apollo is a big, sweet guy. Although it is clear that he has not had a lot of structure prior to his arrival, he is a quick learner and seems to prefer a calm yet confident handler. Apollo has lived with a couple of cats and has done well with them. He seems unaffected by their presence and is calm with them around. Having met a variety of dogs in his travels, Apollo has made it clear that he can live peacefully with another dog. However, he is not a big fan of high-energy dogs who get in his face. We can't blame him for setting his boundaries. Apollo is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the guidance and routine that will help him thrive. He will benefit greatly from training with his new family. This will not only help him bond to his new family but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. If your household is looking for a big, laid back guy, ask to meet Apollo today!
Updates:Apollo continues to be a laid back and affectionate guest. As you can tell by the shot of him on my bed he is one LARGE bed warmer but space can be at a premium. He enjoys several walks a day and averages between two and three miles, which may account for his being laid back most of the day. As the weather has gotten cooler he tends to spend less time lounging in the back yard and more time on his day bed or on the rug. He now beats me to bed, but does give me room to get in! He is almost like a GSD in that he will follow you from room to room and as the other shot shows, he will put his head up on the corner of your chair to make sure you know he is there. Other than occasionally getting a little testy with oncoming strange dogs while on walks, he takes correction well and we are working on it. He is just a good buddy and has made a boatload of friends around the neighborhood.
Spizike
ADOPTED 02/22/2025!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Stunning Spizike was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter that was significantly over capacity. Waiting for her forever family, Spizike was placed on a stray hold. Although timid in the crowded shelter, staff could see this girl was special. When volunteers got her out and about for breaks from her kennel run, Spizike's personality simply shined. She relaxed, showed her playful side, and quickly proved that she was an amazing dog. Everyone was hoping that this sweetheart's family would step forward to claim her. Unfortunately, no one stepped forward. With so many other dogs to compete with for placement, Spizike's chances of finding a safe and loving forever home began to decline. Knowing that shepherds are most successful when placed within a breed specific rescue, one of the shelter coordinators reached out to MAGSR for help. They knew if given the chance, Spizike would be a perfect match for an active home. Our team knew Spizike was the right fit, so we immediately welcomed her to the MAGSR family.
Spizike is a stunning girl. Although frightened in the shelter environment, when given the chance to relax, this girl's goofy personality absolutely shines. With a little time to adjust and build trust, Spizike is beyond happy to accept love, attention, and plenty of pets. Her favorite thing? Balls! They are her jam and are the quickest way to Spizike's heart. When introduced to other dogs at the shelter, Spizike was energetic and displayed a playful attitude. She was friendly and social while enjoying zoomies throughout the play area. Fortunate to have been placed with an incredible temp foster, Spizike has fit seamlessly into her foster family and their pack. Very playful and sweet, she has happily enjoyed daily play time and the opportunity to play with a variety of toys. Living with both male and female dogs, she seems to adjust her energy to the energy of the dogs around her. Spizike mirrors the energy of the dogs in her pack. The more active dogs excite her and she mirrors their energy. The more reserved dogs temper her excitement. Spizike has also been living with small animals and cats who are very accustomed to large dogs. She has done well with them and may be a great match for a household with small animals. However, she has not been exposed to cats or small animals that act like prey. Although Spizike is learning the ins and outs of living in a home, it is important that her forever family give her time to adjust to their expectations and routines. We know she will thrive with clear routines, structure, and leadership. Training will go a long way with Spizike. Not only will it help her create a strong bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. With time, training, and patience, we know that Spizike is going to bring endless joy to a lucky family.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Spizike is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had she been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Knowing that this diagnosis if left untreated is deadly, MAGSR has already begun to get Spizike the care she needs to move forward. Heartworm treatment is expensive, but we know that Spizike is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating to her care. Your donation will not only help Spizike get the treatment she needs to move forward, but it will also help us continue to support other dogs in need. Spizike will need to take it slowly over the next few months while undergoing treatment. This will give her body a chance to move forward. She is hoping to recuperate in a forever family of her very own. If you are looking for the perfect mix of playfulness and chill, look no further than Spizike.
Steffi
ADOPTED 02/17/2025!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Steffi was brought in as a stray to an overcrowded shelter with several puppies. They all waited while the babies grew old enough to be independent from mom. When old enough the puppies were separated from Steffi and adopted, but mom was left behind. Steffi waited for that perfect family that would welcome her home and love her for a lifetime. When no one stepped forward to welcome this sweet momma, she found herself on the list to be euthanized. Knowing that mamas deserve the same opportunity to find safe and loving homes as their babies, team MAGSR was fortunate to be able to work with several other groups to pull Steffi from the shelter just before she was euthanized.
Steffi is special. She is gentle, even tempered, and an absolute love. After all that she has been through, she can be a little timid with new people and new situations. But, when given a little time and some treats, Steffi's playful personality emerges. Her foster family absolutely loves this little lady. They feel she has the right balance of affection, play, and zest for life. As a young girl, Steffi is still learning the ins and outs of good canine citizenship, but we know she is going to be impressive. She will thrive when provided with the structure, routine, and leadership that all GSDs crave. Living in an incredible foster home, Steffi has been enjoying all of the perks of living in a home. She seems to be housebroken and is crate training beautifully. Steffi loves the comforts of a household and has clearly learned some manners along her journey. Although already making progress with manners, Steffi will, like all dogs, benefit from training. Not only will training help Steffi build a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Treat motivated but gentle, we know this girl is going to be the star of her class.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Steffi is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have easily been avoided with monthly prevention. Recognizing that Steffi deserves every opportunity to meet with success, MAGSR has already begun her treatment. Steffi will need to take it easy over the next few months while she completes her treatment. However, this will give her time to enjoy plenty of cuddles and affection. Steffi is looking for a forever family that will love her for a lifetime. Could that family be you?
Bo
ADOPTED 02/14/2025!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bo was fortunate to find an amazing forever family several years ago. He and his dad were two peas in a pod. They had a solid routine together and greatly enjoyed having a constant companion. Although it seemed like these two would be together for a long time, unfortunately, things don't always work out the way we hope. When Bo's dad began getting sick, Bo kept him company and waited for him to get better. He adjusted to other people stepping in to help out and kept waiting for the day when things would go back to the way they were. Bo didn't quite know it yet, but getting better wasn't in the cards for his dad. Knowing that things were not going to work out the way everyone hoped, Bo's dad contacted MAGSR for help. He wanted to ensure that Bo would be able to move forward safely with an incredible family that will cherish his boy for a lifetime. Once a MAGSR dog, always a MAGSR dog. Bo is back with team MAGSR. We are making sure he has everything he needs as he adjusts to life without his dad.
Bubbly Bo is a happy-go-lucky guy. He is friendly, affectionate, and very social. Clearly comfortable with people, Bo is beyond happy to say hi to new friends. He greets them with wiggles, kisses, and a good lean in. The definition of a velcro dog, Bo loves to be with his people. He will ensure that you have a fluffy shadow keeping tabs on you and your surroundings. Typical of the breed, Bo likes to take the lead and is most successful with clear direction, boundaries, and expectations. If given the opportunity to control a situation, Bo is happy to step in. When provided with clear structure and routine, Bo thrives. Having lived in a home for many years, this handsome guy understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. He is already housebroken and crate trained. Beyond the age of chewing on toys or furniture, Bo is respectful in the home environment. However, if given the chance, he will try to cuddle up next to you on the couch. True of dogs at any age, Bo will benefit greatly from training. Not only will training help Bo create a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him continue developing the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Bo is an absolute sweetheart who enjoys daily outings, a good bone, and endless belly rubs. Like all senior pups, Bo is hoping to find a forever family that will cherish him in his golden years. If you are looking for a charismatic pup who will love you with his whole heart, look no further than Bo.

Like all shepherds, Ghost will be most successful when given clear direction, boundaries, and expectations. When provided with structure and routine from a calm and confident handler, Ghost will thrive. Estrella
ADOPTED 02/01/2025!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Estrella is a delightful little lady who has been failed by humans over and over again. As just a young pup, this little lady made her first trip to animal services with her mom and several siblings. The entire family received their first round of medical care on this visit. When their family came to claim them, the entire family was returned. Unfortunately, this pattern continued over the next eight months. Estrella and some members of her family would be picked up by animal control, brought into the shelter, given some basic care, and returned to her family. Finally, after six months of this cycle, animal services decided that Estrella had been through this cycle enough. She deserved a family that would love her, care for her, and provide her with the love and safety all dogs deserve. Although the shelter had good intentions and hoped to find Estrella an incredible family that would cherish her, with numbers at critical capacity, Estrella didn't have much time to find the right match. When we learned that this girl was moved to the list to be euthanized, team MAGSR stepped in and welcomed Estrella to the family.
Little Miss Estrella - our "little star" - is a friendly, wiggly, young girl. Still very much a baby, this girl is energetic, goofy, and full of puppy antics. She is hoping to find an active household that will continue to socialize her with people and other animals. As is true of all GSDs, daily exercise for her body and her mind will be critical to her success. The combination of regular socialization and exercise will help Estrella develop the skills necessary to become a good canine citizen. We do not know a lot about Estrella's past. However, Estrella has had the opportunity to live with foster families while waiting to find her forever home which has given us a chance to learn more about this lovely little star. Starting to learn the ins and outs of living in a home, Estrella loves soft beds, endless snuggles, and a variety of toys. She is adjusting to crate training and is housebreaking nicely. However, as is true of all new dogs, our little star will need some time and patience to adjust to the expectations of her forever family. Estrella will thrive when provided with structure, routine, and leadership. Living with several other dogs in her foster home, Estrella has done very well with several different personalities. She is flexible, playful, and excited to engage with her furry family members. It is critical that Estrella continue to socialize with other furry friends in controlled environments to maintain her skills. As a dog that was picked up several times by animal control, Estrella is considered a flight risk dog. Her family will need to take precautions to ensure she is safe as she adjusts to her forever home. Keeping Estrella on leash when out and about will be key to her success as she learns the rules and boundaries within her forever home. Training will also go a long way with Estrella. Not only will it help her create a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop into a stable and confident adult.
Affectionate, snuggly, and clearly social, this girl is looking for a soft place to land. If Estrella sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet this little love today!
