Gemma

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help. Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Gemma and her sister, Requi, lived with a family who got tired of having dogs so they left them outside leaving the dogs with limited resources. As if this wasn't hard enough, the family then decided to move away and abandoned the girls along with two other dogs on the property. Another rescue group heard about these traumatized pups and decided to try and intervene. That's when MAGSR got a call. As MAGSR has a policy of never leaving families behind, we brought all 4 dogs to safety. Fortunately, MAGSR was able to work with other rescues to find safe homes for the two additional dogs on the property.
Gemma is a lovely girl. In her previous home, she lived with kids and other dogs. It was reported that she greatly enjoyed the children in her home. Although Gemma has clearly suffered at the hands of her previous family, she has been friendly and interactive with the volunteers she has met. Our volunteers have been very impressed with her sweet and stable nature.
Gemma is looking for a home that will love and commit to her for a lifetime. Could that be with you?
Han

Sweet Han was a stray to shelter. Looking at his current condition, it is evident that Han has endured a lot over his short life. When no one came to claim Han, MAGSR stepped up to help this guy find a home that will commit to him for a lifetime.
Although Han has been through a lot, his hardship and suffering are over. As a member of the MAGSR family, Han will receive the food, medical care, and comforts the he deserves. Han is a friendly guy even though he has clearly suffered. Once comfortable, he gives soft kisses and big tail wags to his people. An expert in the car, Han rides well and settles down nicely. He does appear to already have started some crate training and will likely pick up other household skills quickly. If you can provide Han with the comfort and leadership that this fantastic guy deserves, please ask to meet him today.
Updates:When Han arrived at MAGSR we quickly saw he was in bad shape. His neuter site had become infected and Han required emergency medical treatment which ended up being 3 days in the animal hospital. Poor Han’s scrotum had swollen to the size of a grapefruit and you could see the pain in his eyes. He developed a sarcoma with internal bleeding which required surgery to repair a blood vessel and remove his scrotum. We are happy to say he is feeling much better. Han has a long way to go as he is heartworm positive and severely underweight but MAGSR will ensure all of his health needs are addressed as well as lots of love and comfort.
Han's family loved him dearly. Unfortunately, they needed to return him to MAGSR. Although this was a very difficult decision, Han's family knew that this was in his best interest. We appreciate all that they did for Han while he lived with them.
Han is a lover and a quick learner. As a food and toy motivated guy, Han will be an excellent student when he attends training class. He takes vocal cues well and seems to want to please the handler. As Han is finishing out his last few weeks of crate rest due to his heartworm treatment, he is not yet able to play as much as he wants. However, that time is quickly approaching. Although Han is definitely a toy guy who will want play time once crate rest has ended, he also knows how to settle down with an elk horn or another tough toy. Living in a household with other dogs, Han seems curious about the other pups but hasn't yet had the opportunity to do full introductions. Slow, proper introductions are always encouraged as this lays the groundwork for a long term, stable relationship. We do know that Han has done well with dogs in previous households. Han is looking for a forever family that will provide him with structure, leadership, and plenty of toys. If he sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today!
Tucker

Tucker's family loved him greatly but felt that they could not provide him with the life he deserved. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender Tucker to MAGSR. Tucker is an incredible guy. Confident, playful, and very responsive to the handler, it is highly evident that Tucker's family worked hard to help him develop into a good canine citizen. As a fun-loving guy, Tucker greatly enjoys his time playing with a ball or stuffed toys. He will keep you entertained with his antics. Having previously lived in a household, Tucker is housebroken, crate trained, and understands many of the rules of a household. However, as is true for any new dog, he will need to adjust the structure of a new household. Having previously attended training classes, Tucker knows a variety of commands. Although this is a fantastic start, Tucker will need to attend training with his new family as it will help him develop a bond. Tucker is patiently waiting for his forever family, could that be with you?

*Update* Tasha’s fosters are thrilled that this precious girl is heartworm free! She is looking for a forever home where she can enjoy company most of the day with hugs and head-to-head snuggling. She’s a low to moderate energy GSD and is gentle in all ways. While she has not shown much interest in other dogs, her fosters continue to work on her socialization skills. She enjoys walks that give her opportunities to sniff and stroll and is not affected at all by other passing dogs. Training also continues as we all work together on basic commands.
Tasha is a survivor. After being horribly neglected, she was dumped at a vet with her two pups where the entire family was to be euthanized. Fortunately, another rescue learned of this little family's plight and was able to save them in time. Tasha's puppies were able to find families quickly. However, Tasha needed some additional care as her body had endured significant neglect.
With the help of another rescue, Tasha was nursed back to health. She received the medical care and kindness that this beautiful girl so clearly deserved. Although Tasha has experienced cruelty at the hands of people, she remains loving and attentive. She enjoys the comforts of a soft bed and head rubs. Although we are still learning about this lovely girl, she amazes us with her sweet temperament. If Tasha sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet her today.
Updates:Tasha has made significant progress since her arrival at MAGSR. She is affectionate with her people and has learned to enjoy toys and treats. A big fan of snuggles, Tasha is more than happy to bury her head in your lap just to get some extra love. Although playful, Tasha is not a high energy dog. She enjoys play time and outings but is also content to hang out with her people. As is typical of most GSDs, once comfortable, Tasha will protect her household and property. Not all shepherds want to socialize with people outside of their immediate family. Although Tasha is a friendly girl and does well out and about, she may do best being put away when visitors come to the house. Training will go a long way with Tasha as it will teach her to look to the handler for direction and leadership. Tasha is looking for a family that will commit to her for a lifetime. Tasha is a sweet girl who immediately wanted to be with her new foster parents. When we are in different parts of the house, she often plops downs at the vantage point allowing her to keep tabs on both of us. Of course she may just be afraid of missing a meal! But “head cuddles” are very satisfying to both parties. She is fine being crated at night as long as we leave a light on, but would probably be happier as close as possible to her people. Her walks throughout the day sometimes lets her meet new people—passing trucks and exuberant dogs, not so fun.
Walking on a lead is coming along nicely. Tasha is also still learning what she needs to know to be a polite, safe member of the household. She is low energy now, but as she gets healthier I’m sure she will find the happier, more active Tasha inside.
Tasha shows her sweet, gentle personality even in adversity, such as when she’s had a tough vet appointment. She has been a lovely roommate, and is starting to sit before being invited outside or getting her food and she comes when she is called. Tasha seems very happy to meet people, but due to heartworm restrictions on activities, we have not yet tried to socialize her with other dogs, cats, or babies. Though the heart worm treatment has meant she is to stay calm and quiet, it seems fine with her. Tasha has finished her heartworm treatment and we are getting back into walks although, keeping them short and slow for now. Tasha has not expressed any interest in toys, but she likes to keep track of her foster parents. She is easy to walk on a leash, and seems ok to be crated at night, especially now that she knows our schedule and can count on us to let her out in the morning. She’s a beautiful, darling girl.
Tasha is still waiting for her forever home - are you looking for a sweet, loving companion? Tasha loves to go for walks, snuggle with her humans. She is very laid back and a gentle soul. Tasha also has a lot of grace. When she first came to stay with us she showed us that she knows how to untangle her legs from the leash with ease. Her fosters have not seen her swim but the second she steps into a creek she lies down with a look of pure bliss like she is getting a spa treatment. Oh, and she took it upon herself to eradicate the Brood X cicadas (I think she did it!) From reading her bio, you will see she came from a life of neglect. She has shown perseverance and she would love to be adopted and live out her life with a family that is hers. Playful Marley was a stray who was brought into a local shelter. When no one came to claim this handsome guy, MAGSR decided to step in to help him find his forever home.
Although we do not know a lot about Marley's household manners, we do know that he is a playful and active guy. Friendly with people and dogs, Marley wins over everyone around him. In many ways Marley still has many puppy-like behaviors. Although Marley is good with kids, his playfulness and exuberance tends to cause him to knock them over. As a result, he will be best suited for a household without young children. Marley will excel with leadership and training. Goofy and his siblings - Goose, Grace, and Ginger - were confiscated from a puppy mill operation. They are all emaciated and in need of positive interaction. The shelter that confiscated this little family knew that these dogs would need extra support in order to find their forever homes. When MAGSR got the call to take them in, we started putting plans in place to meet their needs.
Although they have survived a horrible situation, Goofy and his siblings are very loveable dogs. Definitely a little skittish, these dogs will excel with patience, leadership, and positive experiences. Goofy is a friendly guy who appreciates gentle but confident handling. He leans in for affection and has easily won over the hearts of our volunteers. We look forward to getting to know Goofy over the next few weeks. If he sounds like a good match for your family, ask to meet him.
Updates:Goofy has been in his foster home for about a month now and is adjusting well. He is also putting on
some much-needed weight. He is an absolute sweetheart and craves attention from his people. He’s a
happy chap whose tail is always wagging. His life is changing for the better and he seems to know it.
Goofy is an energetic, clumsy, large boy who is going to get larger—so he would probably be better
placed with older children. He’s been friendly with everyone he has met and gets along with other dogs.
He enjoys playing with his foster siblings and will do well with a playmate in his size range. In the yard
he seems to enjoy spending as much time getting attention from people as running and playing. He is
still skittish around sudden movements and loud noises, however, he has become more comfortable in
his surroundings. He is crate trained and sleeps well through the night. He will retreat to his crate for
comfort if he’s nervous. He enjoys walks and doesn’t pull on the leash but will benefit from the bond
he will form with his people through training. In an unfamiliar place or situation, he will rely on his person
for reassurance. In his foster home, he is living with two smaller female dogs to whom he is submissive.
At the vets and when being bathed he was nervous but behaved well. He isn’t sure what to do with toys yet.

Updates:Goose is making the the transition to living in a home quite nicely. She often retreats to her crate when scared and she sleeps all night in the crate without any problems. We're happy to report that we've not had any "accidents" but we do walk her frequently where she has been relieving herself outdoors. Goose craves attention and is gets along with our German Shepherd dog. Given her loving personality I feel certain that as she puts her horrible past behind her Goose will blossom and be an outstanding addition to any family. As for Goose's name, spend some time with her and you'll see why she was aptly named.

Samme was a beloved member of her family. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen changes, they could no longer take care of her. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender her to MAGSR.
Samme is a stunning girl and catches the attention of everyone around her. As it true of many owner surrenders, Samme was very scared when she first joined the MAGSR family. So many changes can be confusing and upsetting. However, with the help and support of her incredible foster family, Samme is slowly gaining confidence. Very dedicated to her people, Samme is good about protecting her house and will alert if there are odd sounds in the area. Samme enjoys toys but will need toys meant for strong dogs as she does think that tearing them apart is a good time. A big fan of car rides, Samme is excited to go on adventures and does settle nicely in the car. Although Samme arrived with some basic training started, continued training is a must so that Samme can develop a bond with her new family as well as further develop her overall confidence.

Updates:Grace is the definition of a sweetheart and is looking for a home to shower her with love, attention and patience as she gets used to life in a house. Grace shows a lot of puppy behaviors and is diligently working on her house breaking, learning not to jump on people or chew on inappropriate things. She is skittish around sudden movements and loud noises that are unfamiliar to her; her new parents will need to continue to work on these things with her. She is always on the lookout for a treat so guard your pockets, but she learns quickly when rewarded with them! She has no issue being in her crate and sleeps silently through the night.
Grace had a confident building weekend!! Grace initiated play with her foster brother Cane! This was huge as he's been trying to get her to play, they ran around the backyard but she came back to check in with her foster mom a few times. She went with her foster family to the park for a 2 mile walk and Grace was a champ. Her leash manners were great- she is very attentive to her handler. Grace would love to have a playmate in her new home. Grace is ready and just waiting for a family to shower her with love and training.

Daisy

Daisy and her brother Stanley found themselves in a shelter when their mom unexpectedly passed away. Daisy is quite unsure of herself and all the changes she has faced. It takes a moment for this sweet girl to trust and bond but once she does trust you, the youthful bouncy puppy antics come out. She is extremely skittish with new people and needs a family that will go slow with her to build her trust and confidence while keeping her safe. If you are patient and consistent this girl will reward you ten-fold.
Daisy has been in her foster home for almost a week and is settling in nicely. She is a quiet girl that just wants to be close to her people. She is crate trained and done well in the home. She doesn't seem to know what toys are but enjoys the occasional bully stick. Daisy loves taking daily walks and is learning about leash manners. If you think your family is able to provide her the love, patience, consistency, and training she needs to be the amazing dog we know is in there please apply today.
Updates:Beautiful Daisy has been with us for about five weeks. She has shown us she is a bouncy playful happy-go-lucky typical GSD once she is comfortable and trusts her people. As comfortable as she is with us, she lacks confidence and is extremely fearful when presented with new people and situations. Daisy will benefit from a patient family that provides consistency and structure, as well as, patience without feeling sorry for her. She is incredibly smart, and we are working on basic obedience. Daisy will flourish with training and this will strengthen a bond between her and her new family. Daisy knows sit, down and we are working on her heal. Daisy is housebroken and crate trained. A bonus for training is that Daisy is incredibly treat motivated.
Daisy’s fear has made it a challenge with dog introductions. She is not a fan of female dogs and has been fearful of the male dogs she has met. Daisy was not properly socialized in her first two years of life, so we are slowly working to overcome some of these fears. She had her first field trip to Tractor Supply and did surprisingly well even though we could see she was very uncomfortable. We are taking it slow with her but continuing to slowly push her outside her comfort level each day.
We have noticed that Daisy is more comfortable with women but with some persistence from her foster dad, Daisy is now happy to greet him with tails wags and kisses and has become quite playful with him. She does continue to submissive pee when he goes to leash her up.
Daisy would do best in a home with a fenced backyard as she is a bit stubborn about going potty on a leash. She enjoys romping around the backyard but has no idea what to do with toys. We did uncover that she absolutely loves a good bully stick.

Maverick was a cherished member of his family. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Maverick's family needed to find him a new home. Stanley and his sister Daisy found themselves in a shelter when their mom unexpectedly passed away. Stanley is an overall easy going guy; however, he needs a little time to adjust to new people as he has endured so many changes recently. Once comfortable, Stanley enjoys walks, treats, and the ever important butt rubs.
Although it is hard to tell right now, Stanley is a long-haired shepherd. Unfortunately, he was so matted when he first arrived that he had to be shaved. His lovely long fur is beginning to grow back; however, It will be very important that his new family take the time to regularly brush Stanley, so that he doesn't find himself in this situation again. Having previously lived in a home, Stanley likely already understands many of the ins and outs of being a member of a family. After a rough start to life and difficult circumstances in another state, Rusty found his way to MAGSR six years ago. This lucky guy found a loving home with all adults quickly, but due to circumstances beyond their control, his family made the extremely difficult decision to return him to MAGSR as they knew that we would find the home and love he deserves. Rusty is an incredible guy. This big guy has energy and intelligence to spare. As a result, he will do best in a home that can exercise both his body and his mind daily. He knows several commands and with good leadership follows through nicely. A toy guy, Rusty enjoys playing with plush toys and can be found carrying them about the house. He’s not much of a ball guy; however if given the opportunity, he will catch the ball a couple times and run around with it.
Rusty has learned to be a gentleman in the house; he understands what is not his and doesn't get on the furniture. He also doesn’t shed much! Already crate trained, Rusty finds comfort in his crate and can often be found sleeping in his crate at night. While not a “Velcro” dog, Rusty can usually be found in a strategic location where he can keep track of his people. Not an enthusiastic licker, when you get a kiss or affection from Rusty, you know he thinks you’re really special. Rusty has lived with an indoor-only cat for six years. In that time he has learned to leave her alone the large majority of the time. He may do well with a dog-savvy cat. Ginger and her siblings - Goofy, Grace, and Goose - were confiscated from a puppy mill operation. They are all emaciated and in need of positive interaction. The shelter that confiscated this little family knew that these dogs would need extra support in order to find their forever homes. When MAGSR got the call to take them in, we started putting plans in place to meet their needs.
Although they have survived a horrible situation, Ginger and her siblings are very loveable dogs. Definitely a little skittish, these dogs will excel with patience, leadership, and positive experiences. Ginger is a friendly girl who appreciates gentle handling. She leans in for affection and has easily won over the hearts of our volunteers. We look forward to getting to know Ginger over the next few weeks. Chadwick was surrendered to a rescue when his family no longer wanted him. As Chadwick's family was not properly caring for him, this was likely his best option. Knowing that Chadwick deserved his best chance at a loving forever home, the rescue that saved him transferred him to MAGSR.
Chadwick is a big, goofy buddle of energy and playfulness. He brings smiles to everyone he meets. Friendly with both dogs and people, Chadwick can't wait to find his forever home. Although Chadwick is still very young, he seems to have begun responding to a few commands. He is well behaved in his crate and appears to be housebroken. Momma Bear

Momma Bear and her babies, Ash, Autumn, Pumpkin, and Scarlet, were dumped at a shelter. As a shelter is no place for a momma and her pups, calls went out to various rescues to help this family find the safety and comfort of forever homes. As MAGSR has a policy of never leaving families behind, we stepped in and welcomed the entire family into our care until they all find the loving forever homes they so clearly deserve.
In some ways Momma Bear is still a baby herself. She is very young and still has so much to learn about the comforts of living in a home with a family of her own. Although Momma Bear has done a wonderful job raising her pups, it is her turn to be cared for. Unfortunately, Momma Bear has tested heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if she had kept her on monthly heartworm preventatives. Momma Bear is in the beginning stages of her heartworm treatment; however, the cost of her entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Momma Bear is certainly worth the cost. Donations toward her treatment would be greatly appreciated as this would help us save her and other families with medical needs. Although Momma Bear will need to take it slow over the next few months, she will be back to full strength once her treatment is finished.
While she works through her treatment, Momma Bear would be most comfortable in her forever home. If Momma Bear sounds like the right pup for your household, please ask to meet her today!
Updates:Momma Bear is a sweet girl that is looking for someone to love and let her know she is going to be okay. She craves attention but gets nervous, Momma Bear just wants to be with her human and please you. She is crate trained, takes food so gentle from your hand and loves going on walks. She gets so excited her whole body wiggles especially her tail - Ouch. She loves to play and can be a little rough running around and jumping as she is still learning her manners. Buddy

Buddy found himself scared, hurt, and alone in a shelter. Although he wasn't entirely sure how he got there, he needed to get out in order to receive the specialized care for an injury to his leg. Fortunately, the staff at the shelter also knew Buddy needed help and quickly. So, they put out a call that MAGSR answered.
Buddy is a young, sweet but timid pup who endured trauma to his back left leg. Although no fractures are apparent, it appears that the joint is dislocated and unstable likely requiring a surgical repair. He is currently living with one of our vets so that he can get the care and attention he needs while he waits to see an orthopedic specialist. Although Buddy's care is expensive, he is clearly worth every penny. Please consider donating to Buddy's care as this will help us not only provide him with the medical support he needs but it will also help us bring other dogs with medical needs into the rescue. As we learn more about Buddy's needs we will post updates.

Lovely Princess was picked up by animal control as a stray. Once safe, Princess waited patiently in a shelter for a family but no one came to get her. Fortunately, the staff at the shelter fell in love with this girl and did everything they could to help her find her way to MAGSR. Princess is a lovable girl. She is intelligent and very food motivated. It takes Princess a little time to adjust to a new environment. However, we all need a little time to adjust to changes. Once comfortable, Princess loves to be with her people. She is a big fan of a good head rub and some treats. Princess is new to the MAGSR family. As we get to know her better, we will post updates. Updates:Princess is doing really well. She's very affectionate. She's food driven. Princess crates well and hasn't been vocal. She has shown a playful nature with toys and loves any chews. She and the resident male GSD are politely ignoring each other. Princess helps with the house cleaning by finding anything dropped. Lots of energy and loves walks.

Bonnie and her housemate Sophie were surrendered to a local shelter when the neighbors started complaining. Although both girls lived in the same household, they are not bonded.
Bonnie is a beautiful, affectionate and driven dog. She is a big fan of the ball and will happily play fetch with her handler. Bonnie previously lived with four other dogs; however, she is currently requiring redirection when in the presence of other dogs. Our volunteers are working with her to teach her to take direction from the handler rather than try to control her environment. With consistency and an experienced handler, Bonnie will be the exceptional companion we know she is destined to become. As is true of all shepherds, Bonnie will benefit from training as it will not only help her bond with her new family but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen. Jonah had a home with kids, cats, and another dog until the older male dog decided he no longer wanted Jonah around. Out of the need to keep Jonah safe, his family put him outside and tethered him there. Recognizing that Jonah deserved more, they made the decision to surrender him to another rescue who worked with us to bring Jonah to MAGSR.
Jonah is a friendly and playful guy. He loves attention and affection. As a young dog, Jonah gets excited about walks and can be jumpy while getting ready to go. However, once ready, he walks well on leash particularly when in a quieter setting. A little too interested in squirrels and bunnies, Jonah will need to learn to leave these little creatures alone when in the yard or out and about. Training will go a long way to help this handsome guy learn the ins and outs of being a good canine citizen. Remington found himself dumped in a shelter along with another family dog when the two, at the time unneutered dogs, got into a skirmish. Although surprised and a little unsure about this sudden change in circumstances, Remington won over the shelter staff with his friendly and social personality. A big fan of the lean-in, Remington loves attention and gives kisses in return. As a new member of the MAGSR family, we are still getting to know Remington. However, from what we have seen so far, this affectionate guy is simply looking for a forever home that will provide him with the love and leadership that all dogs require. Updates:Remington has had an amazing 1st week in his foster's home. He is house broken, very friendly with people, easy to walk and overall a laid back dog. He loves to be around his humans, staying close and laying nearby giving you a sad look when he wants attention. This past week he was in a home with another dog, and they were best of friends. He is very sweet, dedicated and loves to give kisses, his tongue going a mile a minute.

Hunter, along with his siblings, Allie and Kate, was surrendered to MAGSR as their family could no longer provide for them. This was a very hard decision, but Hunter's family knew that MAGSR would find him and his siblings safe and loving forever homes.
Hunter is a loving guy. He has lived with kids and other dogs. Although Hunter was clearly well loved by his family, he is a little confused by all the changes in his life and needs a little time to adjust.
