Meka

ADOPTED 01/03/2022!

Meka
MekaMeka
Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd Mix
Approximate Age: 3 years 8 months
Color: Black and tan
Current Size: 40 pounds
Ideal/Potential Size: 50 pounds
Housebroken: Unknown
Obedience Trained: Working on it
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Unknown
Good With Cats: Unknown
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Meka and her brother, Lokki, were confiscated with a large number of dogs. Due to the nature of their seizure, both pups remained with animal control for a few months until they could be released. Although shelter staff worked hard to make sure both dogs had what they needed, they knew that placement through a rescue would be best. When asked if we could bring these two babies into the MAGSR family, we immediately stepped forward.

Meka is a sweet little girl. Although she is a survivor, she maintains a lovely personality. With all that Meka has endured, she can be a little timid when first meeting new people. However, when given a little time and patience, she warms up for attention and love. As a young pup, Meka has a lot of energy. She is looking for a family that can exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. As Meka and Lokki lacked the opportunity to explore the world as young pups, they both have many puppy-like traits at this time. Both will thrive in households where structure, guidance, and leadership are provided consistently. Training will go a long way with Meka. Not only will this help her bond to her new family, but it will also help her develop into a stable and confident canine citizen. If lovely little Meka sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!

Current Size: 40 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: Large
Housebroken: Puppy in training
Obedience Trained: No, I'm a puppy!

DESCRIPTION:

Cletus is a happy-go-lucky guy. Found wandering around with a four-legged buddy, Cletus was found and brought to safety by the right people. When his buddy found another rescue to take him in, Cletus began looking for a rescue of his own. Fortunately, MAGSR heard about this sweetheart and immediately welcomed him to the family.

Cletus is a young, sweet, and affectionate guy. With a playful personality and a friendly demeanor, Cletus easily wins over the hearts and minds of everyone around him. As Cletus has not yet had the opportunity to live in a household, he will likely have a lot to learn. However, as a smart and energetic guy, he should be a quick learner. Cletus is looking for a forever family that will continue to socialize him as this is essential if he is to develop into a stable adult. Training is also necessary as it will help Cletus not only bond to his forever family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. Sweet Cletus deserves a forever family that will commit to him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?

Good With Kids: Unknown
Good With Cats: Unknown

DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Renner was picked up as a stray and brought to a local shelter. Upon his arrival it was highly evident that this boy needed some special attention and quickly. His skin was raw and painful in many areas due to a deep skin dermatitis. Fortunately, the shelter was able to get him immediate medical care so Renner could find some relief. With a little TLC, Renner's skin has greatly improved. Although the shelter staff loved Renner, they knew he would have his best chance at finding his forever family if he was transferred to a rescue. When asked if we could help this guy, MAGSR immediately stepped forward.

Renner is a sweet young adult. He enjoys the company of his people and other dogs. As is true of many shepherds, Renner does need a little time to adjust to his people. However, when given a moment to warm up, Renner is affectionate and interactive. Although we do not know anything about his past, we do know that Renner will thrive with structure, routine, and consistency. Training will go a long way with Renner. Not only will this help him develop the skills and strategies needed to develop into a good canine citizen but it will also help him bond to his new family. If Renner sounds like a good match for your household, please ask to meet him today.

Sweet Shari and her three babies - Jingle, Winkey, and Duran - were picked up as strays in a busy city. This lovely little family was taken to a shelter for safety. However, recognizing that a shelter is no place for a mom and her pups, shelter staff began reaching out for rescue help. When we heard their plea, MAGSR stepped in to help this sweet little family move forward in safety.

Winkey is a delightful and very loveable pup. Although her life began in a difficult circumstance, things have been looking up since she has arrived in our care. Winkey has been learning the joys of playing for hours with her siblings. She has also discovered that toys are endless fun. Enjoying the company of other dogs and people, Winkey has begun to gain the critical socialization needed to become a stable and confident adult. It is essential that her family continues this process. Although Winkey is an absolute love, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy energy which results in endless puppy antics. They will get into things, whine, and will chew on inappropriate items. With time, training, patience, and socialization, Winkey will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. Winkey is looking for a forever home that will commit to her for a lifetime. Could that family be you?

Handsome little Bud, his mom - Magnolia, and his siblings - Magnum, Blaze, Basil, Cedar, Fleury, Ren, Quill, Daissy, Iris, and Rose - have been living with a foster family for several weeks. This large and lovely family quickly joined the MAGSR family soon after Magnolia arrived at a shelter in labor. Magnolia has done an incredible job with her pups and has made sure that all eleven of them were well cared for and healthy. However, in a couple of weeks, she will be ready to say goodbye as the entire family will be ready to find forever homes of their own.

Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Approximate Age: 8 years 2 weeks

Current Size: 60 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 60 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: No
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Likely
Other Dogs OK: Yes, with proper introduction
DESCRIPTION:

Yuki's family loved her dearly; however, due to some unforeseen circumstances, they found themselves unable to provide her with the attention and care she deserves. As a result, Yuki's family made the difficult decision to surrender her to MAGSR. We have promised Yuki's family that we will find her a safe and loving household.

Yuki is a lovely and energetic shepherd. As is common with most shepherds, Yuki thrives with structure and leadership. When these circumstances are not present, she can become nervous and anxious. Although Yuki has lived with other dogs, cats, and children, she does need time to warm up to new people and animals. When given this opportunity, Yuki meets with success. Yuki is looking for a forever family that will help her move forward. If she sounds like a good match for your household, ask to meet Yuki today.

Updates:

Yuki has been with her foster for 2 weeks and is settling in well. She is starting to show her fun loving personality and can we just say: SQUEAKY BALL! She is in love with squeaky balls and would love to play fetch with her person for as long as possible. She absolutely loves getting her chest scratched and will pull your hand right to her chest with her paw. Need a reminder not to sit at the computer for long periods? No problem. She has a built in clock that says one hour at a time only please. Her itchiness is doing better and her coat is looking more glossy with regular groceries and fish oil. She is still nervous around other people and dogs and needs very gentle introductions. We are working on leash manners and she knows she is supposed to do something different, but is still very focused on watching out for trouble. After barking and letting workmen know that they were entering restricted territory and then getting introduced, she had no problem letting them come in and work on my house. Yuki has a possible diagnosis of EPI -- a pancreatic insufficiency common in GSDs, and may need lifelong enzyme additives in her food. It doesn't bother her but may be adding to her tendency to being underweight and itchy.

Yuki has had a very happy new year! For the first time, she had happy zoomies after a walk (for those of you who haven't seen those, that is when the dog is so full of fun that their brains turn off, ears go back, and the dog zooms around the available space with a wide smile and frequent play bows until the need for water slows them down). She didn't have any problems with the fireworks, which was a nice surprise. She also slept through the neighbor's loud music. It was nice to see her relaxed. She really is a sweetheart who just wants to be near her person in a generally quiet environment and get the ball thrown for her. She would rather play ball then go on a walk! She is housebroken and prefers to do her business in the backyard rather than on walks.

She is crate trained but we are seeing some separation anxiety behaviors.  She would benefit from some work with that. She is eager to please and be a part of your life. She is very ball motivated and that is fun to use during training. She knows (in a distraction free environment) sit, down, up, off, come, leave it, bring it, go potty, over, in the car, and where's the ball. She is getting better at stay, but still wants you to stay in sight in return.

Yuki has EPI which requires over-the-counter enzymes and regular, store bought food (high calorie, lower fat, and low fiber). The enzymes we have were around $77 for what is probably going to be a 20 day supply. So her "special" food need comes to about $100 per month and she gets Monthly B-12 shots.   Yuki is a special dog that needs a special home that will love her and keep up her special diet and shots.  Could you be that person that gives her the care and love she so deserves?

We promised Karma's family that we would find her a safe and loving forever home.

Karma is a smart, energetic, and playful girl. As a young shepherd, Karma has a lot of great energy and curiosity. She will thrive in an environment where she can exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. With some high ball drive and desire for enrichment, Karma is hoping that her new family has a good throwing arm. Having lived in a household, Karma knows many of the ins and outs of living in a household. She is already housebroken and crate trained. However, as is true of any new dog, she will need to learn the rules of the new household. Karma has already participated in some training and knows some commands. This is a fantastic start. DESCRIPTION:

Jet and his buddy, Pilot, were picked up as strays and brought to a local shelter. Upon their arrival it was highly evident that these boys had not been treated well by their people. A little unsure about their surroundings, emaciated, and in poor health, shelter staff felt it would be best if these boys were placed with a rescue. When asked if MAGSR could work with the boys to move them forward, we immediately committed to them knowing that we could find these guys a safe and loving forever home.

Jet is a sweet guy. He can be a little shy at first as he needs a few minutes to learn to trust. However, when given the opportunity to move forward at his own pace, Jet is interactive and friendly. As a teenager, Jet is still learning all the rules of living in a home as a stable dog. He will benefit from a household that will provide him with the structure, leadership, and consistency that all young dogs need. Jet is living in a loving foster home that is teaching him all about the joys of living in a household. However, just like any new dog, he will need to fine tune his skills in his forever home. Training will go a long way with Jet. Not only will it help him bond with his new family but it will also help him develop into the stable and confident adult we know he is destined to be. If your family is looking for a young, active, and friendly pup, ask to meet Jet today.

Updates:

Jet is a sweet laid back boy who likes playing with other dogs but he is quite happy just lounging around and watching football on TV.  His foster reports that it is evident that Jet has lived in a house before.  He is crate trained and house broken.

We are happy to report Jet is very sociable around people and other dogs.  He does well in his crate, sleeps there all night.  His fosters are working on his heel which he is getting used to.  He is all puppy, adorable and energetic and will be a great addition to a family.

Willow's mom loved her beyond words. Unfortunately, she recently passed away leaving sweet Willow behind with a team of friends who promised they would find Willow a loving forever family. Willow's mom did everything she could to make sure that Willow would be safe and cared for even if she couldn't do it herself. When MAGSR was contacted to help Willow move forward, we knew that this sweet girl was special. We promised her caretakers that we would find her the perfect forever family.

Willow is a lovely lady. It is very apparent that her mom took exceptional care of her. She is eager to please and very snuggly. However, as is true of many shepherds, she can be a little timid around new people. Given a little time and some yummy treats, Willow warms up to new people. An intelligent girl, Willow is a quick learner. As is true of all new dogs, she will benefit from training with her new family. This will not only help her develop the skills of a good canine citizen, but it will also help her bond to her new family. Although she is going through a huge change, Willow has adjusted well with her foster family. She greatly enjoys playing with her furry foster brother. Good with dogs of all sizes, as well as cats, Willow is a friendly girl. She is looking for a forever family that will love her throughout her golden years. If this sweet girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.

Beautiful Daisy, her mom - Magnolia, and her siblings - Basil, Blaze, Bud, Cedar, Fleury, Ren, Quill, Iris, Magnum, and Rose - have been living with a foster family for several weeks. This large and lovely family quickly joined the MAGSR family soon after Magnolia arrived at a shelter in labor. As a shelter is no place for moms and pups, staff worked quickly to move Magnolia into our care so that she could raise her little ones in a safe and calm environment. Magnolia has done an incredible job with her pups and has made sure that all eleven of them were well cared for and healthy. However, in a couple of weeks, she will be ready to say good bye as the entire family will be ready to find forever homes of their own.

Lovely Daisy is a cutie. Having lived in a household, her foster family has been working hard to develop her social skills. Although she has a good start already, it is imperative that Daisy's forever family continue this process. Daisy is a doll baby, however, please keep in mind that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy energy and antics. They get into things, whine, and will chew on inappropriate items. With time, training, socialization and patience, Daisy will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. Lovely little Cobbler is one of Sugar Pie's puppies. Having been born into the rescue, we have had the unique opportunity to watch her grow. Adopted as a puppy, Cobbler's family adored her. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, they could no longer provide for her. Recognizing that Cobbler deserved a safe and loving forever family, they contacted MAGSR to make sure that Cobbler could move forward safely. We immediately welcomed this lovely little girl back into the MAGSR family at 9 months old and promised that we would find her the perfect forever home.

As a young, affectionate, and energetic girl, Cobbler is looking for an active family that will exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. She will happily come along for a long walk, run, or hike filling each adventure with puppy smiles and love. As a young dog, it is imperative that Cobbler's family continue to socialize her with new people and animals in controlled settings. This will help her develop into a stable and confident adult. Cobbler has had the luck of having lived in a loving home, as a result, she knows many of the ins and outs of household rules. However, she will need to adjust to the structure, routine, rules of her forever home. This will take time and patience as Cobbler learns expectations. Training will be very important for Cobbler as she moves forward. Not only will it help her develop a health bond with her family, but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen. Willow's mom loved her beyond words. Unfortunately, she recently passed away leaving sweet Willow behind with a team of friends who promised they would find Willow a loving forever family. Tazanna

ADOPTED 11/29/2021!

Tazanna
TazannaTazanna
Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd Mix
Approximate Age: 3 years 8 months
Color: Black, White & Tan
Current Size: 35 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 55-60 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: No, I'm a puppy!
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Lovely little Tazanna was living with a young woman who loved her but couldn't provide her with the care she needed. Recognizing that this was not fair to Tazanna, her owner surrendered her to another rescue so that Tazanna would have the chance at the life and love that she deserved. Although this was a difficult decision, Tazanna's mom knew that this was in Tazanna's best interest. We welcomed Tazanna into the MAGSR family as it was felt she would be most successful in another region.

Tazanna is a lovely little girl. As is true of many dogs that have lacked opportunities to socialize, Tazanna can be timid with new people and in new situations. However, when given a little time, she warms up nicely. Although her foster family is working with Tazanna to further develop her socialization skills, it will be critical that her forever family continue this process. A well-socialized puppy will develop into a stable adult. Already crate trained, Tazanna is making excellent strides toward becoming housebroken. She is also learning some basic commands and has already learned sit and come. This smart girl will be a joy in training class. Training will not only help Tazanna bond to her new family but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen. Good with cats and dogs, Tazanna enjoys her furry companions. However, as a puppy, she still does some chasing. As she loves to play ball, Tazanna's foster family will be working with her to redirect that chasing to toys and balls. Tazanna is looking for a forever family that will commit to her for a lifetime. Could that be with you?

DESCRIPTION:

Lovely Freedom was surrendered to a shelter when her family could no longer care for her. As is true of many shepherds, Freedom was fearful upon arrival at the shelter. In order to find a safe and loving home that understands the breed, shelter staff began looking for a rescue that could help Freedom move forward. MAGSR answered the call.

Freedom is a beautiful, curious, and affectionate girl. She enjoys the company of other dogs and seems to understand many of the rules of the dog world. Although Freedom does well with other dogs, she is hesitant with new people. However, when new people are slow and give her the opportunity to warm up, Freedom is a loving and sweet girl. As is typical of all young shepherds, Freedom has some good energy. A big fan of playing ball, this girl would be happy to help her family strengthen their throwing arms. Freedom did live in a household prior to her arrival at the shelter. However, we do not have any information about how this went. She will thrive in an environment where her people go slow, provide routine, and have clear structure. Freedom's family will need to take her to training. This will not only help her develop a strong bond with her new family but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen. If your family is looking for a young, athletic girl, ask to meet Freedom today!

DESCRIPTION:

Handsome Igor was picked up as a stray in the south. Although he was brought to a shelter where he waited for his family, no one came to claim him. Due to overcrowding at the shelter, Igor needed to get out and fast. When asked if we could help Igor move forward, MAGSR immediately stepped forward.

Igor is in many ways your typical young shepherd. He is young, playful, energetic and a complete goofball. It is very evident that somewhere along the way Igor was socialized with people and other dogs. However, it is evident that he has yet to develop his doggy manners. As a big guy, it is essential that Igor have the opportunity to develop these manners early on with his new family. Training will go a long way with this big guy as it will not only help Igor bond to his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. As Igor arrived as a stray, we do not know if he has had the opportunity to live in a household. In many ways he is starting from a clean slate. Like all young shepherds, Igor will thrive in a household where he has structure, routine, and leadership. If this big, sweet guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

DESCRIPTION:

The young and vibrant Charlotte was dumped on a country road with her 7 puppies. Charlotte is still a giant puppy herself at just over a year old. This sweet little family was taken to an overcrowded animal shelter where they waited to be claimed. When no one arrived to bring them home, a plea went out for help. We knew this little family deserved the comfort and safety of a home and MAGSR stepped up to help.

Charlotte is friendly with everyone she meets including people and other dogs. At this early stage of her adult life she needs to work on her basic obedience and house manners. She will likely need to learn the ins and outs of living in the comfort and safety of a household. With structure, patience, and leadership, we know that Charlotte will thrive. Training will be a critical piece of Charlotte's transition as it will help her bond to her forever family while also building the stability and confidence she needs to become a good canine citizen. If this sweet girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Charlotte is adjusting well to living in a house.  She is crate trained and housebroken.  She loves running and playing with her foster fur siblings. We are working on house manners every day!  Charlotte can recall her to her name and sit (for treats of course!) She enjoys car rides and belly rubs !!

DESCRIPTION:

Sally and her Cars Puppies were rescued in the south by another group. As they wanted to do right by this lovely family, they began reaching out to other groups who would be able to support the family until they were ready to find forever homes of their own. When asked to welcome this family into the MAGSR family, we immediately said yes.

Sally was a known homeless dog in the community in which she lived. She often visited members of the community and was friendly and gentle. When Sally became pregnant, a community member began working with a rescue group to trap Sally and her family. It took some time; however, they met with success and Sally and her babies were ready to move forward to lives of comfort and safety. Sally is an incredible mommy. She has done a wonderful job caring for her 10 babies. However, she now deserves a family of her very own that will love and care for her with the same kindness she has shown her babies. In many ways Sally is still a baby herself. She will thrive in an environment that provides her with the structure, routine, and guidance that all dogs crave. Training will be key to Sally's success as it will not only help her bond with her new family, but it will also help her develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to be. DESCRIPTION:

Lovely Alice was picked up as a stray in the south and brought to a shelter. Although she waited patiently for her family to come and claim her, no one came up to bring her home. Due to unprecedented issues with overcrowding, the shelter staff knew that Alice would need rescue support to make it out alive. When asked if we could help Alice find a safe and loving forever home, MAGSR immediately stepped forward.

Alice is a friendly and loving girl. She does well with humans and people. As an adult dog who must have had some socialization, Alice is stable and confident in her personality. Unfortunately, we do not know anything about Alice's past so in many ways she is starting fresh with her new family. This lovely lady will thrive in an environment where she has structure, routine, and leadership. Training will also go a long way with Alice as it will not only help her bond to her new family but it will also help her further develop into a good canine citizen. Unfortunately, we have learned that Alice is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if Alice had been provided with monthly preventatives. We have already started treatment and Alice is doing well. The cost of her entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive but this sweet girl is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Alice's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her and other dogs with medical needs. Although Alice will need to take it slow over the next few months while she undergoes treatment, she will be back up to full speed soon. Alice is looking for a forever family that will provide her with the love, safety, and structure that she so clearly deserves. If she sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Alice is loving living with her fosters, it is reported she is a big snuggle bunny who loves attention.  Alice can be a little shy when first meeting people, but she warms up quickly.  If you are looking for a sweet girl, who just wants to please her humans then this girl is for you.

DESCRIPTION:

From about six months of age until February, 2021, every day of Ruger‘s life followed the same neglectful routine - chained up to a pin in the ground outside of her owner’s home. This routine lasted about 16 hours of every day; the other eight hours were spent in a crate in the basement of her owner’s home. Unfortunately, this routine never changed and never included any human interaction, play time, positive interaction, or attention. Ruger was never socialized to other dogs nor did she receive any veterinary care. Her life consisted of a chain, food, water and a small igloo for shelter. When her owner broke his hip, neighbors who had witnessed this horrible neglect took action. They stepped in to have Ruger surrendered and quickly removed from the life she had been living. Ruger went from living on a chain to living in a home with people who would begin to meet her needs.

Despite her past, Ruger is a loving dog particularly, once she has had a chance to adjust to her people and surroundings. Although she is an adult, she acts and plays very much like a puppy. This is largely due to the fact that she never had an opportunity to play prior to her rescue in February. Now that she has had the opportunity to learn about toys, Ruger is a big fan. One of her favorite activities is playing with rope toys and thrashing them back-and-forth. In addition to toys, Ruger has become a big proponent of riding in her foster family's RTV. She is an excellent passenger. She even uses the RTV when her foster family is outside doing yard work as she loves to lay in the seats and soak up the sun.

Having lived in a loving household since the late winter, Ruger has had the opportunity to learn some of the ins and outs of living in a household. She understands many of the rules of living in a home but will need to fine tune those skills to meet the routines of her forever family. Ruger will thrive in a household where she has consistency, structure and routine. Although Ruger has participated in obedience training and knows many commands, she will need to continue training with her new family. Training will not only help her bond with her new family, but it will also help her develop into the stable adult we know she is destined to become. Ruger is looking for a loving home that will care for her for a lifetime. Could that be with you?
