Dempsey
ADOPTED 07/20/2025!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Found on the side of the road as just a baby, Dempsey’s life started off uncertain. He was brought to an overcrowded shelter—scared, unsure, and far too young to be navigating such a tough world alone. While the shelter staff did everything they could, they knew he needed more than they could offer. So they reached out for help. When MAGSR heard Dempsey’s story, we knew he belonged with a family who would see just how special he truly is.
Now safe in a loving foster home, Dempsey is getting a fresh start. Because he spent his early days in a shelter environment, he missed out on some critical socialization, and can be a bit timid in new situations or with unfamiliar people. But every day, his amazing foster family is helping him grow more confident. He’s learning, exploring, and beginning to understand what it means to just be a puppy.
Dempsey will thrive in a forever home that’s ready to continue his journey with patience, structure, and love. He’ll need guidance, routine, and ongoing socialization to help him build confidence. Training will also play a huge role in his development—not just to teach him basic manners, but to help him bond deeply with his people and learn how to be a well-rounded canine companion.
Puppies like Dempsey are absolutely adorable—but they’re also a lot of work. Expect whining, accidents, chewing, and a whole lot of goofy antics. But with time and consistency, the reward is a loyal, loving shepherd who will bring joy to your life every single day.
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a pup with tons of potential, Dempsey is ready to meet you. He may be small now, but he has a big heart—and he’s just waiting to share it with his forever family.
Tessa
ADOPTED 07/12/2025!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
This lovely lady was picked up as a stray and brought to an overcrowded shelter, where all of the loud sounds and smells were incredibly scary. Eventually, she found her way into another rescue to make sure her second chance was set up for success. That rescue later reached out for help with some of the dogs in their care, and as we all know, teamwork makes the dream work, so MAGSR didn't think twice before stepping forward to assist.
Tessa is a loving honey. Her amazing fosters have been helping her learn about the joys of being a puppy and taking in the world around her. With opportunities to go for walks in the cooler evenings, Tessa loved to play in the long grass and chase water in the creek. A big cuddler, she is friendly, young, affectionate, and resilient. She has done well with other dogs and absolutely adores children. With a high prey drive, she definitely doesn't think of cats in the same way. Super-social with people, Tessa especially loves to snuggle with her people, but does understand the concept of toys and has good energy. A bit of a goofball, she sometimes puts her whole snout into the water dish when getting a good drink. This sweet girl rides perfectly in the car and is non-reactive to other cars or animals that she passes. Like many dogs of this breed, Tessa will thrive when both her body and mind are kept active through exercise. A home with daily physical and mental stimulation would help her shine. Continuing her training and socialization will go a long way with this smart cutie. Not only will training help her develop a healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her build the skills needed to become a good canine citizen as an adult. Similar to any new dog, Tessa will thrive with structure, routine, leadership, and clear expectations from a calm and confident handler. This will help her adjust to the expectations of her forever family. If you're looking for a pup to snuggle up with you and make you laugh, ask to meet Tessa today.
Hero
ADOPTED 07/04/2025!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Found as a stray alongside his two siblings, Hero is the last of his litter still searching for his happily ever after. His brother is on his way to becoming a service dog for a child with special needs, and his sister has already charmed her way into a forever home thanks to her sweet temperament. Now it's Hero’s turn.
This little guy is the full package: social, dog- and cat-friendly, good with kids, and surprisingly non-destructive for a pup his age. He’s currently living in a foster home where he sleeps in bed, soaking up affection and working on building a solid foundation for a bright future.
While Hero is still learning to love his crate (he’s a bit vocal about it!), he’s making progress every day. He’s eager to learn, incredibly loving, and clearly full of potential. With some patience, consistency, and training, we believe Hero will grow into an exceptional companion.
Puppies like Hero are adorable, but they are also a lot of work—they chew, whine, and have accidents. But they also offer unmatched love, laughter, and loyalty in return.
Hero is hoping that MAGSR can be the bridge to the forever family he’s dreaming of. Could that be you?
Dixie
ADOPTED 06/24/2025!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Delightful Dixie was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. Like so many shelters, the shelter that welcomed Dixie was sitting over capacity. Although shelter staff were doing everything they could to meet the needs of the animals in their care, with numbers significantly over sustainable levels, difficult choices had to be made. Upon her arrival Dixie was at risk to be euthanized; however, she was also quickly winning the hearts of everyone at the shelter. Knowing they likely did not have placement options for Dixie, shelter staff began pleading for rescue help to ensure that Dixie could move forward safely and find a loving family of her very own. When we asked our foster team if they could help Dixie, we were beyond fortunate to have a family step forward.
Dixie is a stunning and sweet little lady. Clearly loved by someone along her journey, Dixie has been well socialized with people and other dogs. She knows that people can be kind, affectionate, and loving. A social and affectionate girl she showers her people with love. A generally calm girl, Dixie is stable and intelligent. She loves her daily walks and settles in nicely with her foster family when it is time to slow down. Although an amazing girl, Dixie, like all shepherds, will benefit greatly from training. Training will not only help Dixie develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen, but it will also help her build a strong and healthy bond with her forever family. We are still learning about Dixie, but we do know that she is a special girl who deserves an amazing forever family.
If this belly rub loving, affectionate girl sounds like the right fit for your family, ask to meet Miss Dixie today!
Bells
ADOPTED 06/23/2025!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Beautiful Bells was adored by her owner. She was raised with love, affection, and opportunities to socialize with people and other animals. Unfortunately, when her owner passed away Bells had limited options. Extended family kept an eye on her for a bit, but when storms hit and Bells got loose they decided she could not return. Instead they left her in an exceptionally overcrowded shelter with an uncertain future. Nationally, shelters and rescues are significantly over capacity. There are simply too many animals and not enough placements. Groups across the nation are doing everything they can to save as many lives as possible; however, the reality is many incredible animals do not make it out of shelters alive. Recognizing that Bells' deserved the chance to move forward safely with a family that would cherish her for a lifetime, shelter staff reached out to MAGSR for help. Fortunately, we had an amazing foster family step forward and were able to welcome Bells into the MAGSR family.
Beautiful Bells is young, active, and affectionate. It is beyond obvious that this girl loves her people and has had opportunities to interact with people of all ages. Still learning basic manners, Bells will need to learn to keep all four paws on the ground. However, with clear expectations, consistency, and training, we know that Bells will learn fast. She already knows to sit on command and walks relatively well on leash when the correct equipment is used. Curious about the world around her, Bells has a busy nose but does not pull excessively on leash. She will however need an active family that can provide her with daily opportunities to exercise. Living in a household with kids, cats, and other dogs, Bells is friendly with everyone. She is responsive to the boundaries set by the cat and is comfortable with the dogs in the home. As Bells is new to the MAGSR family, we are still learning about her household manners. At this time, she is crate training and seems to be housebroken. Time will tell on this piece. Structure, routine, and clear expectations are already in place as Bells decompresses from all of the changes in her life. Maintaining this set-up will help Bells continue to make the adjustments she needs to meet with success. Overall, this lovely girl is a go-with-the-flow kind of lady. However, after all she has been through, storms are not her thing and she does need to be kept safe and secure during rough weather.
Bells is looking for a household that will fill her days with joy, treats, and belly rubs and her nights with plenty of soft blankets and cuddles. If this lovely little girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Bells today!
Kodah
ADOPTED 06/21/2025!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Kodah was loved by his family. However, sometimes life doesn't always go the way we expect or want. When circumstances change or get out of control, we are lucky when the right people step in to help. Kodah is a lucky pup. When things in his world spun out of control, the right person recognized he needed help and stepped forward to ensure that Kodah had what he needed to move forward. Now that he is part of the MAGSR family, this big, sweet boy is looking for a forever family that will love him for a lifetime.
An incredible dog, Kodah is a very special guy that will fill his forever home with endless joy, love, and loyalty. With the heart and skills to excel as an amazing dog, Kodah's gentle temperament simply shines around both children and animals. Well socialized prior to his arrival in the MAGSR family, Kodah is a stable and adaptable dog. He is a calm and reliable companion in any environment. Unsurprising due to his breed, this boy has some great energy that fuels his love for hiking and swimming. As is true of all shepherds, it is critical that Kodah's family exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. This will help him maintain his stable and confident personality. With a strong foundation in obedience, Kodah responds promptly to commands and adapts to various tasks. Although Kodah already has an incredible base, it is important that his forever family participate in training. Not only will training help with Kodah continue to help him develop his good canine citizenship, but it will also help him build a strong, healthy bond with his forever family.
Kodah is truly a unique guy. His intelligence, loyalty, and versatility make him an outstanding candidate for service dog or therapy dog training. He is ready to provide both support and companionship to his forever family. If this guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Kodah today!
Ella
ADOPTED 06/21/2025!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sensational Stella, nicknamed Ella, and her buddy, Baxter, were beyond adored by their dad. They were the perfect little family. It is clear that Ella's dad went above and beyond to ensure she was safe and loved. Although her dad had planned to care for Ella until the day she crossed the bridge, unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned. Ella's dad passed away a few months ago. Ella and her buddy, Baxter, stayed close to their dad until the very end. Knowing his furry babies would be safe and loved, Ella and Baxter's dad was able to cross over. Family members stepped up to help but recognized that they could not provide Ella or Baxter with the life they knew both dogs deserved. To ensure that the dogs moved forward, the family worked with MAGSR to welcome Ella and Baxter into our care promising that we would find them exactly the right match.
Ella is an elegant, responsive, and intelligent lady. Clearly social and well-loved, Ella was provided with a strong foundation for success. With typical GSD traits on board, Ella loves to be with her people. She is smart, loyal, and doesn't miss a beat. A nature lover, Ella enjoys her time out and about whether that be running about the yard, enjoying a walk, or hanging with her people in the fresh air. Somewhat picky about treats, Ella waits for the "good stuff" before indulging in a treat. What can we say, sometimes you just know what is worth it and what is not. Training will be critical to Ella's success. Not only will it help Ella develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen, but it will also help her build a strong, healthy, and lasting relationship with her forever family. Ella is beyond lucky to have already lived in an amazing home. She is housebroken and well behaved in the home. Not a big fan of toys, but definitely happy to romp around outside, Ella is a stable and sweet girl. Although Ella knows quite a bit about living in a household, as is true of all new dogs, she will need time to adjust to the routines and expectations of her forever family.
Ella is looking for an incredible family that will continue to help her move forward, participate in training, and adore her just as her dad did for a lifetime. If Ella sounds like a great match for your family, ask to meet this friendly lady today!
Jason
ADOPTED 06/21/2025!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Jovial Jason was picked up as a stray in the south. When he arrived at a shelter, it was discovered that he had a large, open wound on his back leg. As this shelter, like so many others, was sitting above capacity, once Jason's stray hold was completed, he was placed on the list to be euthanized. This handsome guy was incredibly lucky as he was pulled at the last minute by another rescue. Although they knew that Jason would need to be transferred to another rescue, this group knew that Jason deserved every opportunity to move forward safely.
Jason was fortunate to have been in a foster home for a few months before moving into the MAGSR family. During this time he was able to begin receiving the medical support needed to start the healing process. With debris cleaned out of his leg, medication provided, and six weeks of rehab in place, Jason's leg healed nicely allowing him to return to regular activities and playtime. Having endless opportunities to socialize with other large dogs, Jason greatly enjoys play time. He has an active and enthusiastic play style. However, we have learned that he gets a little too excited about cats and farm animals. He will not be placed in a home with these creatures. Having lived in a home, Jason has begun to learn the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and crate trained. As is true of all dogs, Jason will need time to adjust to the expectations, structure, and routines of his forever family. With time, patience, and leadership, we know he will succeed. As Jason moves forward, training will be key to his success. Training will not only help Jason create a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Jason is heartworm positive. This prognosis could have been prevented if Jason has been provided with monthly preventatives. Although heartworm treatment is expensive, MAGSR knows that Jason is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Jason's treatment. Not only will your donation help Jason get the care he needs, but it will also help us welcome other dogs with medical needs. Jason's treatment has already begun and he is more than half-way finished! He will need to take it easy over the next month or so as he finishes up. Jason is an amazing guy that is hoping to find a family that will love him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?
Updates:Jovial Jason has been living with a foster while undergoing heartworm treatment. He loves to play, chew his toys, and rolls right over for a belly rub. He’s an energetic love-bug and no-doubt looking forward to being free of heartworms. Jason is very enthusiastic and will need a family committed to exercising him both mentally and physically.
After being with his foster for a while, he's adjusting to home life very well and, with his energy, responds well to structure in the home. He's now obedience-trained and crate-trained. Similarly to his prior update, his foster family has discovered more things he loves: walks, food, squirrel-watching, going in the car, and so many other things! He loves belly rubs and belly rubs and belly rubs! Even though it's already been said, it's worth mentioning that this guy really loves belly rubs! Even though he's not a cat guy, Jason definitely loves to meet people and he's been doing great as one of our MAGSR ambassadors at events. He wants to meet you too!
Jason came to MAGSR with heartworm and a pre-existing injury in his leg, both of which kept him restricted to very light activity, but he's come a long way in his recovery since these things were diagnosed in 2023. He's officially out of treatment now that he's tested negative for heartworm and is free again to run and play. His leg only shows some stiffness when he overdoes it (which is his favourite thing to do!) but it never seems to bother him. He'll just limp and run on three legs for a bit as the happy boy that he is - he doesn't let it slow him down and, in fact, he'd run until his leg falls off if you let him! Now that he's made this progress, he's finally free to do his favourite things -- he can tap into his silly and goofy side and run and play when he wants, maybe destroy a toy here and there, or he can tap into his very affectionate side and be a total velcro pup that loves to cuddle and get belly rubs. Now that this bright boy is free from his health restrictions, he just needs to find his perfect forever family. Could that be you?
Shep
ADOPTED 06/15/2025!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Stunning Shep was picked up as a stray in the south and brought to a local animal control. Upon arrival, it was highly evident that this boy needed medical attention as soon as possible. With a severe ear infection and raw, painful paws, and underweight Shep was incredibly uncomfortable and in need of help. Fortunately, the right people heard about Shep's situation and began working with rescue groups to find a temp foster and rescue placement. When asked if we could provide Shep with a rescue option, team MAGSR knew that Shep would make an incredible addition to the family. With an amazing foster family in place, we welcomed this handsome boy to the MAGSR family.
Recognizing that Shep needed medical support right away, we worked with several groups to ensure he had what he needed. Shep had his medical needs addressed and was placed in a loving home to recuperate. Seeming to understand that this was his chance to decompress and let the healing process happen, Shep took some time to relax and get healthy again. Once he started feeling better, we were able to move him to one of our experienced foster homes where Shep had the chance to start acting like a dog again. An active guy with a high ball drive, Shep's all-time favorite activities involve balls. He will happily chase and mouth a ball for hours. In fact, it seems that he is hoping that his forever family has an affinity for throwing as, in his mind, humans are meant to be his personal throwing machine. Still learning the finer points of playing, Shep still needs some time to further decompress and learn the ins and outs of appropriate play. This guy is looking for an active family that will provide the structure, routine, and expectations needed to meet the needs of a headstrong shepherd. He would likely be happiest with a job, like nosework, or an activity, like treibball. With a little refinement, Shep would likely excel at Rally or flyball! Living in a foster home, Shep is learning the ins and outs of living in a home. He is learning to crate train and housebreak. He is also learning about the general routines and expectations of living in a GSD savvy home. However, he will need time and patience to adjust to the expectations and routines of his forever family. As is true of all dogs, training will be key to Shep's success. Not only will training help Shep build a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Shep is your typical teenage shepherd seeking attention and a good time. If you are looking for an intelligent, fun-loving, active shepherd, Shep could be the guy for you!

Beautiful Baxter and his buddy, Ella, were beyond adored by his dad. They were the perfect little family. It is clear that Baxter's dad went above and beyond to ensure he was safe and loved. Although his dad had planned to care for Baxter until the day he crossed the bridge, unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned. Baxter's dad passed away a few months ago. To ensure that the dogs moved forward, the family worked with MAGSR to welcome Baxter and Ella into our care promising that we would find them exactly the right match.
Baxter is a big, handsome, and intelligent guy. Social and well-loved, Baxter has a strong foundation and is quickly learning new skills. Typical of the breed, this good-looking boy is most successful when he exercises both his body and his mind on a daily basis. Treat motivated and very intelligent, Baxter can't wait to start training. Training will be highly beneficial for this boy. Not only will training help Baxter develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen, but it will also help him build a strong and healthy relationship with his new family. Baxter is incredibly lucky to have lived in an amazing home. He is housebroken and well behaved in the house. Not a big fan of toys, but definitely excited to run about in the yard or explore trails, the neighborhood, or new places on leash, Baxter enjoys his time out and out with his people. Although Baxter knows quite a bit about living in a household, as is true of all new dogs, he will need time to adjust to the routines and expectations of his forever family.
Baxter is looking for an incredible family that will continue to help him move forward, participate in training, and adore him just as his dad did for a lifetime. If Baxter sounds like a great match for your family, ask to meet this sweet guy today!
