Description

Stunning Jax found himself at a crowded shelter in the south unsure what he had done wrong to find himself there. Although shelter staff adored this handsome guy, the shelter environment was very stressful. Shepherds often struggle in shelter environments which makes it even more challenging for them to find forever families. Doing everything they could to help Jax move forward, staff members took this sweetheart on outings and to events. Even though he was an absolute star at events, Jax struggled to find placement; it seemed that this guy simply didn't have the options he needed to move forward. Knowing that Jax would likely be more successful if he was transferred to a breed specific rescue, shelter staff reached out to MAGSR for help. Our team knew this boy would be an addition to the family so, we welcomed him to MAGSR.

Joyful Jax is a loving and friendly guy. Surprisingly social, this boy has clearly had opportunities to interact with both people and other dogs. As a young guy, continued socialization in controlled settings will help him maintain his stability and confidence. This is key to Jax's success. Still in some ways a pup, Jax will be looking for a family that can provide him with daily opportunities to exercise both his body and his mind. Jax is an intelligent guy. He already knows a few commands and listens well. However, training will still be essential with his forever family. Not only will training help Jax develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen, but it will also help him build a strong and healthy bond with his forever family. Although it is obvious that someone along Jax's journey has spent time socializing him, we do not know how much experience he has had living in a household. As a result, Jax's family will need to provide him with time, patience, and routine while he adjusts to his new home. Structure and clear expectations will help Jax meet with success.

Unfortunately, Jax is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have easily been prevented had he received monthly prevention. Jax is in the beginning stages of heartworm treatment. Although this is an expensive treatment, we know that Jax is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Jax's heartworm treatment. Not only will this help us ensure that Jax has everything he needs to move forward, it will also help us continue to support dogs with medical needs. Jax will need to take it easy over the next couple of months while he heals. However, we know he will be happiest if he can relax with his forever family while completing this process. Jax is looking for a forever family that will fill his days with snuggles and love. If this honey sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Jax today!
