Midnight
ADOPTED 05/08/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Midnight's owner loved him dearly. When circumstances beyond his control interfered with this ability to care for Midnight, he was surrendered to a shelter. Midnight immediately won over the shelter staff with his easy-going personality. Unphased by much of what was happening around him, Midnight's stable personality with people and dogs quickly made him a favorite. Although Midnight was available for adoption through the shelter, it was felt that he would have his best chance of finding the right fit through a rescue. At this time we are still getting to know Midnight. As we get to know him better, we will post updates here. If Midnight sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.
Updates:Midnight’s foster family has reported that he is very friendly, easygoing, and shows no aggression. He shows interest in other dogs, but he is currently separated from the dogs in the home because he is recovering from kennel cough). When he sees other dogs on his walk, he is curious but does not bark or growl. Midnight loves people. He LOVES snuggling and giving kisses. Midnight particularly enjoys going on walks and does well on a leash. He also likes to look out the window, chew on bones, and play with tug toys. He eats well and loves treats. He is housebroken (and has had no accidents), stays in the mudroom at night (and has not cried or barked even once!), and knows basic commands but does not always listen (especially if he is excited to go out for a walk!). Like most dogs, he could benefit from some obedience training!
If Midnight sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.
Midnight has fully recovered from kennel cough, and he has settled in nicely with the foster family’s two German Shepherds. They have become a pack of three who go on walks together, play in the yard, and share toys. Midnight's favorite toys are bones (any and every kind!) and tug toys, but he shares nicely with the other dogs. He and our German Shepherd Vader are in constant competition for the toys, one takes the toys when the other is not looking! But no fighting or aggression at all. Midnight definitely looks up to Vader and wants to be just like him! Midnight is housebroken and sleeps in our mudroom at night without any complaining. He knows when it is bedtime and will go into the mudroom without being asked and waiting for the gate to be put up! Midnight has easily learned basic commands, such as sit. When dinner is being prepared, he waits next to his bowl without being told to do so. Midnight loves to snuggle and makes sure you know when he wants some love (he pushes his head gently into your chest and waits for hugs!). He is a very easy going dog and would fit in well with any family with little adjustment time.
Josh
ADOPTED 05/06/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Josh is simply the cutest little guy. Picked up as a stray, he was lucky to have landed with a caring rescue that made sure he had everything he needed to move forward. Recognizing that Josh would have his best chance at finding a loving forever home in a different region, Josh was transferred into MAGSR's care.
As is true of all puppies, Josh is a combination of cuddles, kisses, cuteness, and energy. Josh is a happy boy who brings joy to everyone around him. Socialized with dogs, kids, cats, and people, Josh is happy to say hi to everyone. As socialization is critical for puppies, Josh's forever family will need to continue this practice as it will help him develop into a stable adult dog. Although Josh is a sweetheart, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, guidance, and training, Josh will develop into the good canine citizen that we know he is destined to be. If this little guy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Milton
ADOPTED 05/02/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Milton and his brother, Teddy, are siblings from different litters. They were living with their parents and a few other dogs on a breeder's property. When the owner could no longer keep the dogs safe, they were surrendered to another rescue. Recognizing that both boys would likely have their best shot at finding their forever home in another region, Milton and Teddy were transferred to MAGSR.
Milton is a friendly guy. Having grown up with dogs of a variety of ages, he enjoys the company of other dogs. However, he is less comfortable around alpha males. According to his owner, Milton has grown up with children and did well with them. Although we know that Milton had an owner, we are not sure if he was kept as an inside dog or an outside dog. We do know that he did not have any vetting prior to his arrival at MAGSR. Unfortunately, Milton is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Milton has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Milton's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Milton is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Milton's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Milton will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a big, beautiful guy, please ask to meet him today.
Bentley
ADOPTED 04/24/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bentley was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. Having arrived at a busy shelter, Bentley's time was limited due to space issues. Friendly with people and other dogs, Bentley needed out and fast. When asked to welcome Bentley into the MAGSR family, we didn't hesitate to say yes.
Bentley is a big, energetic guy. He enjoys the calm and consistency of an experienced handler. Benefiting from both mental and physical exercise, this Bentley will need an active household. He will be most successful in a household where he has structure, leadership, and guidance. Food motivated and very intelligent, Bentley will thrive with training. Training will not only help Bentley bond to his new family but it will also help him become a good canine citizen. If your household is looking for a big, handsome guy, please ask to meet Bentley today.
Finnegan
ADOPTED 04/24/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Finnegan was picked up as a stray in June of 2020 and brought to a rural shelter. Staff members quickly fell in love with this big, goofy guy and did what they could to help him find his forever home. Although the shelter was able to handle most of Finnegan's vetting needs, they did not have the funds to address his heartworm status. Unfortunately, Finnegan was passed over for adoption for months. Due to overcrowding over the winter, Finnegan's time was running out. When asked to help Finnegan find his forever family, MAGSR immediately stepped in to help this boy move forward.
Finnegan is a playful and silly guy. He enjoys the company of his people and has no problem getting everyone around him to giggle with his antics. Finnegan is now receiving the vetting care he has needed. MAGSR has begun his heartworm treatment and Finnegan is doing well. The cost of his entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Finnegan is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Finnegan's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Finnegan will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a big, goofy guy, please ask to meet Finnegan today.
Boscoe
ADOPTED 04/24/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet little Boscoe was dropped off in a rural shelter. With limited options available for this little sweetheart, the shelter immediately began pleading for help. As shelters are not often safe for puppies especially, if they have not completed their puppy shots, Boscoe needed out immediately. When asked if we could help out, MAGSR was happy to step up.
Boscoe is the perfect combination of cuddles, tail wags, and unending joy. He has been living with a foster family for the last few weeks which has given him the opportunity to begin learning the ins and outs of living in a home. Living with kids and a variety of different dogs, Boscoe is benefitting greatly from regular socialization. This socialization is critical for puppies as it helps them develop into stable adult dogs. Everyone that meets this big boy is easily won over by his joyful and easy-going personality. Although Boscoe is full of wiggles and fun, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance, and training, Boscoe will develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to become. If Boscoe sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Izzy
ADOPTED 04/21/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lovely Izzy was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter in the south. Unfortunately, the shelter that she arrived at lacks the resources to meet the needs of many of the animals in their care. As a result, dogs with medical needs often do not receive the care and attention they need in order to move forward. When another rescue heard about Izzy's situation, they began networking her with the hope of helping this sweet senior lady find a loving forever home. Recognizing that Izzy was out of options but deserved the dignity of living out her golden years in comfort and safety, we stepped up and welcomed Izzy into the MAGSR family.
Izzy's eyes tell a story of their own. They tell the story of pain and neglect while also crying out for comfort and love. Izzy is learning to trust her people; it is evident that kind hands have not always been used with her. With patience and gentleness, Izzy slowly warms up and will ask for love and attention. She loves to slowly slink over to your lap for head scratches and love. As Izzy did not receive the medical attention she needed prior to her arrival at MAGSR, she will require additional support in order to move forward. Izzy will do best in a calm and stable household where she can remain on the first floor as Izzy's body is simply not as strong as her mind at this time. Diagnosed as heartworm positive, Izzy will need to keep her activity limited over the next few months as her body heals. Although Izzy has clearly not always experienced kindness, she remains a gentle and affectionate dog. If Izzy sounds like the right match for your household, please inquire about her today.
Updates:Lovely Izzy has been spending the last month enjoying the comforts of soft beds, blankets, and snuggles. She quickly warmed up to her foster family, particularly, the littles in the household. Her sweet and gentle nature rose to the surface as soon as she realized she was safe. Easily recognizing the most comfortable places to rest in the house, Izzy is often found on a snuggly blanket or spread out on the couch. However, true to shepherd nature, when Izzy's foster family is moving about she likes to be right where they are keeping tabs on everyone. She truly is the sweetest shadow. Although Izzy has had a few vet visits over the last month to ensure that her needs are fully met, she has been patient and gentle with everyone she has encountered. With everything she has endured, Izzy's body will never be as strong as it once was. She will always be wobbly and will need some additional support when moving about. However, this enchanting lady would love a forever family that will provide her with the comfort and dignity all seniors deserve. If you are looking for a senior pup, who is a big fan of head rubs and squeaky toys, Izzy is your girl. Please consider providing her with the loving forever family that all pups deserve.
Megan
ADOPTED 04/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Beautiful Diana and her housemates, Megan and Harry, were confiscated from their owner. Although all three dogs get along with one another, it appears that Diana is a little more timid than the other two. As this set of dogs have relied on one another for comfort and safety, they clearly enjoy and appreciate the companionship of another dog. When confiscated, it was clear to animal control officers that these three were not well cared for or socialized around other people. As a result, they all require some time to adjust to new people and situations. Diana appears to be the least socialized of the three. She is still learning that people can be kind and caring. Best suited for a quiet household, Diana will need time, patience, and leadership as she moves forward. Training is an essential aspect of recovery particularly with a fearful dog. As a confidence building activity and a socialization opportunity, Diana will gain stability and trust through training. Although her humans have failed her in the past, Diana is ready to move forward. Is your family the right match for her?
Updates:Megan is housebroken and crate trained. She lets her fosters know when she needs to go out. She LOVES TO SNUGGLE, and when she recognizes a treat she will automatically sit for it. She doesn't like to be alone if there are others in the house-- she will try to be near you. Megan arrived with an upper respiratory infection so she is annoyed she cannot play with the resident dogs, but hopefully that will change soon as she is on antibiotics and on the mend. If you are looking for a loyal dog that just wants to be loved and with your human, Megan is the one.
Zenobia
ADOPTED 04/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Zenobia and her little family were dumped and forced to fend for themselves. Fortunately, a good samaritan found this little group of puppies and quickly brought them to the safety of a shelter. Although they presented as typical puppies on arrival, unfortunately, within a few days these babies broke with parvo. This horrifying virus takes so many young lives too soon. An immediate plea was sent out for help. With the support of an amazing team of veterinarians and a kind donor, MAGSR was able to get this little family the help they needed. Against the odds, all three little fighters survived.
Having survived parvo, Zenobia is a super puppy. She cannot ever contract this horrible disease again. Ready to move onto a life of love, cuddles, and safety, Zenobia cannot wait to meet her forever family. Although Zenobia is beyond sweet, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require an endless amount of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, get into things, and chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, guidance, and training, Zenobia will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If Zenobia sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today.
Stewie
ADOPTED 04/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Stewie was picked up as a stray. When he arrived at the shelter, he quickly won over shelter staff with his friendly and outgoing personality. Recognizing that Stewie had some medical needs that would need to be addressed, the shelter staff felt that Stewie would have his best chance at finding his forever home in a rescue. When asked to welcome Stewie into the MAGSR family, we immediately started putting plans into place to help Stewie move forward.
Stewie is a social guy. He enjoys the company of people and other dogs. As a playful guy, Stewie loves to play with toys of all varieties. He is good about sharing his toys and treats with others. At the shelter he even made sure to try to share his food with a visiting pot bellied pig! Stewie has been diagnosed as heartworm positive. His entire treatment will be handled by MAGSR. Although this will mean that Stewie will need to take it slow for a little while, once his treatment is completed he will be back to full strength. Stewie is looking for a forever family that has plenty of toys and will commit to him for a lifetime. If Stewie sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today.
Andy
ADOPTED 04/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Andy was picked up as a stray and brought to the shelter in the South where he waited patiently for someone to come for him and sadly no one did. Unfortunately, he was continuously passed by and with time running short, he needed a rescue to step in. We were pleased to be that rescue and welcomed him into the MAGSR family with the promise that we would find him a loving forever home.
Andy is as sweet as they come and wows everyone with his gentle and easy-going personality. He is friendly with both people and dogs. In many ways Andy is a blank slate who is ready to move forward with his new family. Like all dogs, Andy will benefit from training as it will not only help him integrate into his new family, but it will also help him become a good canine citizen
Unfortunately, Andy is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Andy has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Andy's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Andy is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Andy's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Andy will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished.
Andy is looking for a forever family that will commit to him for a lifetime. If your household is looking for a sweet, beautiful guy, please ask to meet him today.
Gotti
ADOPTED 04/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Gotti was picked up as a stray in a busy city. This boy immediately caught the attention of shelter staff with his goofy and playful personality. As the shelter had very limited space, they immediately began sending out rescue pleas for Gotti. Recognizing this young guy deserves a loving forever home, we welcomed him into the MAGSR family. In many ways Gotti is a blank slate just waiting for his chance to impress the world with his adorable personality. Like any young dog, Gotti will excel with structure, patience, and leadership. Training will go a long way with this boy. It will not only help him bond to his new family but it will also help him develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to be. Gotti is looking for an active family. If he sounds like the right match for you, ask to meet him today.
Sirius
ADOPTED 04/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sirius and another male were picked up by animal control when they were found showing too much interest in a female dog in heat running loose. Although Sirius waited for his family to reclaim him, no one came to bring him home. Sirius quickly became a shelter staff favorite. Recognizing that Sirius would have his best chance at finding a forever home outside of the shelter, he was transferred to MAGSR.
Sirius is a sweet dog who can be a little timid with new people. When given the opportunity to warm up Sirius enjoys the company of his people. Clearly having been on leash before, Sirius seems to understand some leash manners already. When introduced to dogs at the shelter, Sirius did well particularly, with the females. He even kept his cool when one of them was having a rough day. As a young dog, Sirius will thrive in a home that provides him with structure and routine. Training will go a long way with this boy as it will not only help him bond with his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. Sirius will do well in a more experienced household that can provide him with the leadership that he craves. If Sirius sounds like the right match for your household, please ask him today.
Updates:Sirius is a very sweet and loving boy. He enjoys belly rubs and is working on perfecting his "shepherd lean". When I am home, I allow Sirius to free roam the house. He is always close by, but not right on top of you. He enjoys lounging around the house (probably a good thing as he recovers from heart worms). He does very well on leash, he is housebroken and crate trained. He is very friendly with new people and approaches them without hesitation and a wagging tail. He does not show aggression towards other dogs we pass while walking for potty breaks.
Sirius does get nervous and shows anxiety when left at home alone, his foster is working with him to learn to be confident and comfortable. If you are looking for a best friend that just wants to be with his humans, please reach out to meet this handsome guy.
Jam
ADOPTED 04/17/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Jam's family loved him dearly; however, they found themselves in a situation where Jam needed to be rehomed. Although it was very hard to say goodbye, Jam's family recognized that this was in his best interest. MAGSR promised Jam's family that we would find him a safe and loving forever home.
Jam is a friendly guy. He is a fan of both people and dogs but can get a little overexcited when meeting them and stop to talk a bit. We all love to socialize. A big fan of walks, Jam understands that when the leash comes out it is time to go. Although he knows many commands on leash, refreshers are always a good thing for everyone. As is true of any new dog, Jam will meet with success in a structured environment that will provide him with time and leadership while he adjusts to his new home. As a working line dog, Jam will need both his body and mind exercised on a daily basis. When engaging with Jam, he is most excited by balls, rubber bones, and food based toys. Although he wouldn't mind plush toys either, Jam tends to destroy them. Something a little stronger is safer in Jam's case. If you love to throw the ball, Jam is the dog for you. He loves a nice rotation when chasing the ball. We hear three is the magic number with Jam. Daily exercise will not only help Jam adjust positively to his new environment but it will also help him gain stability as he moves forward. Jam is clearly a special guy who is looking for the perfect forever home. Is that home with you?
Updates:Jam is living with his foster and they have reported he is a gentle, well behaved dog. He seems to love people, is somewhat trained and really easy to handle. He is housebroken and crate trained. If you are looking for an older, gentle dog that is well behaved please ask to meet this handsome boy.
Jam may be called a Senior, but don't be fooled this guy is energetic and active.
Jam is fully housebroken and crate trained. He doesn’t lay on furniture, does not counter surf, does not beg at the dinner table and is well mannered. He’s a real gentleman inside the house but he has his way of telling you when he wants to go out or needs more water. This guy will sleep in his crate all through the night without a peep.
He loves to play tug of war with his Red Bone but when you have had enough, he lays down and chews on it. He’s a big, strong boy who loves to go on walks but is much too busy sniffing around to pull anyone along. He knows several commands but could use a refresher course or just more practice. Of course, he’ll do anything for food or a snack.
He has a big bark but we’ve never seen a snarl or growl. He loves meeting new people and gets excited to meet other dogs but settles down after proper introductions.
If you want someone to spend some time with and respond unconditionally, Jam’s the right dog!
Zuleika
ADOPTED 04/14/2021!

Sasha
ADOPTED 04/12/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sasha's family loved her dearly. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, they could no longer care for her. Although surrendering her was a difficult decision, they knew this would give Sasha her best chance at finding a safe and loving forever home. We promised Sasha's family that we would find her the perfect forever family. Sasha is a lovely girl. She is charming and playful when comfortable with her people. We have been told she is good with children, dogs, and cats. However, like many young dogs, sometimes she gets a little rough with the cats. When corrected by them, she recognizes their boundaries and moves on.
Although this sweet southern girl is a doll with her family, she will need continued socialization and training. Having had limited experiences within the community, Sasha will need time, patience, and leadership as she learns about the world around her. Sasha will thrive in an environment where structure and routine are infused into daily activities. She will do well with a family that understands and has experience with the breed. With time, patience, guidance and training, Sasha will develop into the good canine citizen she is destined to become. If Sasha sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Fox
ADOPTED 04/12/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lovely Fox was a victim of cruelty and neglect. Fortunately, when animal services learned of her situation, they moved quickly to help Fox as well as other animals in the household. Although this sweet girl was adjusting to her new circumstances, shelter staff recognized that Fox would have her best chance at finding a loving forever home if she was transferred to a rescue. When asked to help Fox move forward, MAGSR immediately stepped up.
Fox is a beautiful girl both inside and out. Although she has had to endure circumstances that no one should have to live through, her sweet spirit remains. As she can be a little timid when first new people, Fox warms up quickly with patience and kindness. A few high value treats also go a long way. Once comfortable, Fox is your typical young shepherd. She enjoys snuggles, being close to her people, and goofing around. Currently living with senior GSDs and a few cats, Fox enjoys the company of animals that will give her a minute to warm up to them. She seems most comfortable with one of the pushy, dog-savvy cats. As is true of most shepherds, Fox will benefit greatly from training. This will not only help her bond with her new family, but it will also help her develop confidence. If Fox sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today.
Dayna
ADOPTED 04/11/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lovely Dayna was trapped on the streets of a busy city along with her little family. When she arrived at the shelter, staff recognized that she was scared and shut down. There was simply so much going on around her and so many new people and sounds. Although timid, Dayna was sweet with staff members. As is often the case with adult dogs, Dayna was looked over as all of her puppies found homes. Recognizing the Dayna deserved a loving home of her own, we welcomed this little lady into the MAGSR family.
Dayna, as is true of many strays, needs time to adjust to new people and situations. She doesn't seem to have had positive responses from humans prior to her arrival at the shelter and is still learning that people can be kind. Dayna will meet with greatest success in a calm environment. She will benefit from patience, structure and routine. Training will go a long way with Dayna as it will help her not only develop into a good canine citizen but it will also help her bond with her forever family. Dayna is heartworm positive. We have already begun her heartworm treatment and Dayna is doing well. MAGSR will cover the entirety of the cost of Dayna's treatment. Although heartworm treatment is very expensive, Dayna is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Dayna's heartworm treatment. This will help us not only support Dayna but it will also help us save other dogs with medical needs. If your household can provide Dayna with the peaceful and structured environment she needs to thrive, please ask to meet this lovely girl today.
Bella
ADOPTED 04/10/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bella first came to MAGSR in July, 2020 as a stray. She was very sweet with MAGSR volunteers and eventually successfully transitioned to a home environment.
Bella is a beautiful and smart girl who loves the company of her primary people. She loves training and has excelled in group as well as individual lessons and is well on her way toward her Canine Good Citizen certification.
She loves car rides and is thrilled to accompany her humans anywhere.
Though she does not want to be left behind, she has handled time alone in the house well as her humans returned to in-person work. She’s an experienced shopper in hardware stores and pet stores and navigates busy boardwalks and streets with no problems, but her favorite time includes running in the backyard, walking on the beach or going on a long hike with her humans.
She has helped foster 8 other GSDs with her humans. She also does well in dog day camp with other dogs.
As a mature dog, she is fully adjusted to living in the house, is calm around adult family members, and has been a calming “co-worker” in Zoom meetings for hours on end. She is a polite eater and does not touch the furniture (unless invited in).
Bella receives A+ for sweet behavior every time she visits the vet or any time she spends the day at a camp with trainers. As is true of many shepherds, Bella tends to be protective of her people, house, and back yard and visitors need to be carefully introduced. There have been limited opportunities to work on this behavior during COVID-19 restrictions and while Bella is an amazing house dog, she demonstrates excess anxiety and barking with visitors to the home.
Her household was recently licensed for foster child care and many new strangers to Bella now come to the home. Out of high caution, Bella is secured in a separate room during child foster visits and the current circumstances are not sustainable for Bella or current and future foster children. Bella has been very much loved by her family.
After consulting several trainers, they made the heartbreaking decision to look for a new home for her, motivated by high investment in her quality of life and positive future without the stress of little children running around. Bella is an amazing girl who will be a loving family member but needs an environment with adults and/or older children.
Roxee
ADOPTED 04/05/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Roxee was rehomed recently. She was clearly a well-loved member of her family. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of their control, Roxee needed to be rehomed once more. When asked to help find the perfect forever home for this stunning girl, MAGSR was honored to step-up and provide Roxee with a safe haven.
Roxee is a sweet girl who looks for guidance and leadership from those around her. When given calm and consistent leadership, Roxee responds positively. It seems that Roxee was undersocialized for the first few years of her life, which has caused her to need a little more time to warm up to new people. However, once comfortable, Roxee has the "shepherd lean" down pat. A lack of exposure to the everyday activities of the outside world has made her skittish. Roxee will need time, patience, and consistency as she moves forward. Training will be an essential component of Roxee's future. It will not only help her develop the confidence needed to experience the world around her, but it will also help her create a strong, healthy bond with her handler. Although Roxee can be a little unsure about new people, she is fantastic with cats and dogs of all sizes. In her current foster home, the pack quickly welcomed this gentle girl into their household. They must have known she needed a little extra love. Roxee is an adorable girl who is looking for a special family that has the time and patience to help her move forward. Could that be with you?

ADOPTED 04/03/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Waldo found himself in a shelter after he was picked up as a stray. He is a sweet, handsome boy who is looking for a forever family of his own. He is somewhat shy right now, but who can blame him with the recent changes he has been through. Training will help him build confidence, learn good manners and bond with his family. Stay tuned for more updates on Waldo as we get to know him.
Updates:Waldo's foster is happy to share he is housebroken and gets along with the two resident dogs. He is good with children, affectionate and loves to play with his toys and chew on bones. He is crate trained, does not look for food on counter tops and does not get on the furniture. He is a quick learner and loves to get lots of loving. Please let us know if Waldo sounds like the dog for you.
Waldo is a sweet boy. When you go to take him out, he runs to the door, jumps off all fours, and circles around, all excited. You have to tell him to sit to hook him up He's easy to walk, he's scared of moving cars, and friendly to people. When you go to feed him, he gets all excited again, he jumps off all fours again, circles around and backs towards his crate and goes in. He's a good eater, he loves playing with his ball but if it rolls into a corner or over a vent he won't go into the corner to get it. He likes throw rugs - he takes his paws and makes a nest out of it then lays down. He knows not to get on the couch. Sometimes at night he goes upstairs and lays on his rug to go to sleep before we go upstairs. Other times he waits for us, and as soon as we head for the steps he shoots up the steps. He is housebroken. When you sit or lay down, he usually lays down. He loves to have his back scratched.

Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lovely Madam was running loose in the south and was picked-up by animal control. She waited patiently for her family to come and claim her; however, when no one came, shelter staff began looking for a rescue to help Madam move forward. Having learned that Madam actually belonged to the same family that surrendered Milton and Teddy, we immediately stepped up to bring Madam to safety. MAGSR has a policy of not leaving families behind.
Madam is an affectionate girl. She enjoys the company of people and seems to have had some exposure to children. Although we know that Madam had an owner, we are not sure if she was kept as an inside dog or an outside dog. We do know that she did not have any vetting prior to her arrival at the shelter. Unfortunately, Madam is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if she had been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Madam has already begun her heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Madam's treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Madam is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Madam's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her and other dogs with medical needs. Although Madam will need to take it slow over the next few months, she will be back to full strength once her treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a sweet and affectionate girl, ask to meet Madam today.
Denali
ADOPTED 04/03/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Denali was taken by animal control when they felt his owner could not properly care for him. Although he did amazingly well in the shelter environment, shelter staff recognized that Denali may meet with greater success finding his forever home with a rescue. When they asked us to help Denali move forward, we immediately welcomed this boy into the MAGSR family.
Denali is a young, playful, and social guy. He is the definition of a happy dog. Outgoing with people and with other dogs, Denali wants to be friends with everyone. Due to a birth defect in his front leg, Denali moves around with a bit of a limp. Although this may seem concerning to onlookers, this is just part of daily life for Denali. He has always walked a little differently from the other dogs but doesn't let his differences define him. Denali is looking for a forever family that will provide him with the structure, leadership, and guidance that all GSDs crave. Excited to try new adventures, Denali will thrive in training. Training will not only help Denali bond with his new family but it will also help him develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to become. If Denali sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today.
Sternis
ADOPTED 03/29/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Sternis was brought to a trainer and abandoned by his owner. Although the trainer could tell that Sternis was an amazing guy, he could not bring in another dog. Without any other options available, the trainer took Sternis to a shelter hoping he would find a new forever family. Recognizing that Sternis deserved so much more than they might be able to provide, shelter staff immediately began networking Sternis to see if a rescue could help him find a family that would commit to him for a lifetime. When MAGSR heard his plea, we stepped forward.
Sternis is an absolute love. Everyone who meets him falls for this guy. Handsome, playful, and stable, Sternis has weathered the changes in his life well. However, he is ready to stop moving from one place to another. This boy is definitely ready for his forever home. As a young dog, Sternis still has a lot to learn about being a good canine citizen. A household that will provide structure, leadership, and consistency will help Sternis settle into his new life. Training will also be highly beneficial for Sternis as it will not only help him bond to his new family, but it will also help him develop the skills he needs to maintain his stable demeanor. Sternis is looking for a loving and active family that will provide him with opportunities to exercise his body and mind daily. If Sternis sounds like a good match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Han
ADOPTED 03/29/2021!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Han was a stray to shelter. Looking at his current condition, it is evident that Han has endured a lot over his short life. When no one came to claim Han, MAGSR stepped up to help this guy find a home that will commit to him for a lifetime.
Although Han has been through a lot, his hardship and suffering are over. As a member of the MAGSR family, Han will receive the food, medical care, and comforts the he deserves. Han is a friendly guy even though he has clearly suffered. Once comfortable, he gives soft kisses and big tail wags to his people. An expert in the car, Han rides well and settles down nicely. He does appear to already have started some crate training and will likely pick up other household skills quickly. If you can provide Han with the comfort and leadership that this fantastic guy deserves, please ask to meet him today.
Updates:When Han arrived at MAGSR we quickly saw he was in bad shape. His neuter site had become infected and Han required emergency medical treatment which ended up being 3 days in the animal hospital. Poor Han’s scrotum had swollen to the size of a grapefruit and you could see the pain in his eyes. He developed a sarcoma with internal bleeding which required surgery to repair a blood vessel and remove his scrotum. We are happy to say he is feeling much better. Han has a long way to go as he is heartworm positive and severely underweight but MAGSR will ensure all of his health needs are addressed as well as lots of love and comfort.
Han's family loved him dearly. Unfortunately, they needed to return him to MAGSR. Although this was a very difficult decision, Han's family knew that this was in his best interest. We appreciate all that they did for Han while he lived with them.
Han is a lover and a quick learner. As a food and toy motivated guy, Han will be an excellent student when he attends training class. He takes vocal cues well and seems to want to please the handler. As Han is finishing out his last few weeks of crate rest due to his heartworm treatment, he is not yet able to play as much as he wants. However, that time is quickly approaching. Although Han is definitely a toy guy who will want play time once crate rest has ended, he also knows how to settle down with an elk horn or another tough toy. Living in a household with other dogs, Han seems curious about the other pups but hasn't yet had the opportunity to do full introductions. Slow, proper introductions are always encouraged as this lays the groundwork for a long term, stable relationship. We do know that Han has done well with dogs in previous households. Han is looking for a forever family that will provide him with structure, leadership, and plenty of toys. If he sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today!

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Duke and his buddy, King, were surrendered to a shelter when their owner could no longer afford to provide them with the care they needed. When the boys arrived at the shelter, staff immediately realized that they were a special pair. Recognizing that Duke and King would have their best chance at remaining together in a forever home if they were placed in a rescue, the shelter reached out to MAGSR; we were happy to jump in and help out as this adorable pair was too sweet to pass up!
MAGSR has a long-standing policy of not leaving families behind. When we commit to a dog, we commit to the entire canine family whether or not they are GSDs. All members of a family are welcomed into MAGSR with the promise of finding everyone safe and loving forever homes.
King is a handsome, happy-go-lucky two year old purebred GSD that draws his security and confidence from his ten year old Jack Russell Terrier brother Duke! Just as King depends on Duke, Duke, who is blind, depends on King to guide him through life. This pair is not only bonded, but they are absolutely dependent on one another. They thrive together.
Duke is an absolute sweetheart and as laid back as they come. His disability does not seem to slow this little guy down! He is a happy little guy that manages daily life just fine. Dogs are creatures of habits and have incredible memories so learning the lay of your home and yard will be an easy next step for Duke.
Duke and King, our sweet odd couple, are a special pair in need of a forever home. If you could see them fitting into your family please inquire today!!
Bastille
ADOPTED 03/22/2021!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
One of the largest puppy mill busts found hundreds of German Shepherd's living in absolute filth and in horrendous condition. Ankle deep mud and feces mixed with urine, no adequate shelter, lacking food and clean water is how these dogs were left to live, many for years. The urgent call was made and MAGSR knew we had to take in as many as possible. We now have 38 dogs that have a multitude of medical needs that we are addressing, and they need to learn to trust humans. All dogs are scared, some are shut down, but our volunteers and vets will get them on their road to recovery. It will be awhile before these dogs are ready for adoption, so please be patient and watch for updates.
An undertaking of this size for an all-volunteer rescue is quite a task, but one we are meeting it head on. Many of the dogs require medical boarding so that they can receive the best possible care. We are committed to providing everything they need, not only medically, but emotionally. Our medical costs are going to be at an amount we have never seen before. We need your help, the dogs need your help. Please donate , your donation will go towards their ongoing care, medical needs, emotional needs and help them on their road to recovery and a brighter future.
Updates:Bastille is making daily strides. She is still a shy girl and you have to make slow movements with her as she still spooks easily. She remains a flight risk and must remain on a leash at all times even in the home. She is doing much better going in to a crate and once in sleeps quietly for at least 9 hours at night. She has not had any accidents in her crate and is doing well house breaking. She can go about 9 hours a typical work day and not have an accident. We are working diligently on her leash manners and she is responding very well. She really enjoys walks and is starting to open up and sneak some kisses and meet you with tail wags. She is initiating play with other dogs in the home and is overall a very sweet girl. We are beginning on some basic obedience commands. Lastly, Bastille is treat motivated, gentle in taking them and absolutely loves marrow bones and peanut butter. She has shown no signs of food aggression. If interested in this stunning girl, please contact us to meet her.
Through no fault of her own Bastille was returned back to MAGSR, her family loved her but their busy household caused her a lot of anxiety and they felt this was no longer fair to her.
Bastille would do great in a less busy home with a stable dog to help calm her anxiety.

A good samaritan found little miss Myna wandering alone in a busy city. Knowing that this little girl needed a safe refuge, she was brought to a shelter where she waited for someone to come and claim her. When no one came for little Myna, MAGSR stepped in to help her find a loving forever home. Myna is a sweetheart who can be a little shy with new people. When given time to warm up her personality shines. As is true of all puppies, Myna will benefit from socialization and training. This will help her develop the skills needed to develop into a good canine citizen. Myna is currently living in a loving foster family; they are starting to teach her all of the ins and outs of living in a household. As they get to know Myna better, they will post updates here. If sweet Myna sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!

Sweet and handsome Louis was found wandering around as a stray in a not so good area. Fortunately, some kind people found him and brought him to the safe location where he waited for a family to come and claim him. When no one came for Louis, he was welcomed into the MAGSR family with the promise that we would find him a loving forever home. Louis is as sweet as they come. He is friendly with both people and dogs. In many ways Louis is a blank slate who is ready to move forward with his new family. Like all dogs, Louis will benefit from training as it will not only help him integrate into his new family, but it will also help him become a good canine citizen. Louis is looking for a forever family that will commit to him for a lifetime. If Louis sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.
Teddy
ADOPTED 03/16/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Teddy and his brother, Milton, are siblings from different litters. They were living with their parents and a few other dogs on a breeder's property. When the owner could no longer keep the dogs safe, they were surrendered to another rescue. Recognizing that both boys would likely have their best shot at finding their forever home in another region, Teddy and Milton were transferred to MAGSR.
Teddy is a young and friendly guy. Having grown up with dogs of a variety of ages, he enjoys the company of other dogs. Teddy is playful and interactive. According to his owner, Teddy has grown up with children and did well with them. Although we know that Teddy had an owner, we are not sure if he was kept as an inside dog or an outside dog. We do know that he did not have any vetting prior to his arrival at MAGSR. Unfortunately, Teddy is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Teddy has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Teddy's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Teddy is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Teddy's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Teddy will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a sweet, beautiful guy, please ask to meet him today.
Sheena
ADOPTED 03/15/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sheena is a survivor. This special and incredibly sweet girl was used for years as a breeding dog. It was evident when rescuers came in to get her that this lovely lady had endured great pain and hardship. Emaciated and chained outside, Sheena was simply being used for puppy production.
Although Sheena is a victim of cruelty and neglect, this lovely lady has the sweetest disposition. She is an incredible companion and has been friendly with everyone she has met. Our volunteers are simply in awe of her strength and resilience. Now that Sheena has joined the MAGSR family, she is experiencing kindness and love. Sheena is learning the rules of a household, basic commands, and the joy of a comfortable bed. At this time, Sheena is waiting patiently for a forever home that will provide her with the care and kindness she deserves. If Sheena sounds like a good match for your household, please ask to meet her today.
Updates:Sheena was used for breeding all of her life until she was rescued with her eight puppies. She is loving life with her foster family and has fit in quite well. Sheena is housebroken, learning basic obedience and loves belly rubs. She will take belly rubs over treats. She is good with cats and small dogs, she plays gently with other dogs. She will growl if another dog comes near her food bowl while eating but she stops immediately when corrected. Sheena does have some health issues that she is being treated for. She is on antibiotics for a skin infection, she takes dasuquin for her joints. Sheena will have to have eye drops for the rest of her life because she has pannus and is partially blind. It is hard for her to see in the dark. But with all that she has been through, she is happy and accepting of meeting people with lots of tail wags and loves to be with her humans.
Sheena is a very affectionate girl. She loves snuggles and will actively seek attention but is respectful of our rules about no dogs on the furniture. She's getting along pretty well with the resident Male GSD, with only a few growls exchanged over dog beds. Sheena knows basic obedience, is fully housebroken and crate trained, and is picking up leash skills quickly. She is content to curl into a cushy bed and nap the day away and is always ready for a walk. Sheena prefers her toys without ears and tags and limbs, and is happy to fix them if they don't come that way. She likes to play ball as well.
Due to her past, she's a little hand shy and startles at loud noises. She is wary of cars and really dislikes releasing air sounds (like air brakes on a bus or even opening a soda). Sheena is the most affectionate foster that I've ever had, and is the most gentle and sweet girl! Just an incredible dog!
Birch & Kota
ADOPTED 03/14/2021!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Kota and her best buddy, Birch, were found wandering around in the south. Although the two dogs were wearing identification, when animal control contacted their family, they were told that the dogs were no longer wanted. As this friendly pair deserves to be loved and cared for in their golden years, our friends at animal control called and asked if we could welcome this pair into the MAGSR family.
Kota and Birch are a bonded pair and rely on one another for safety and comfort. Although they were tossed aside by their former family, they remain sweet and loving dogs. Currently residing with a fantastic foster family, Kota and Birch are moving forward with the comfort of soft beds, good food, and the attention they deserve. Although we are still getting to know this lovely pair, it does appear that they have previously lived in a household and do know some of the general household expectations. As we learn more about Kota and Birch, we will provide updates. If you can provide this special pair with the loving forever home they so clearly deserve, please ask to meet them today.
Updates:Kota and Birch aren't talking today but rather their foster mom thinks they are a blessing to their house....and will be to the family who is lucky enough to adopt them.
Kota...how can I begin to tell you about this sweet girl? When she came to us she liked affection but now she searches for it. When Kota came to us we found a lump on her that turned out to be mass. She had a biopsy done which confirmed it was cancer. Kota has had 2 surgeries and the vet feels confident that the cancer removal was successful. Kota sleeps every night in my daughter's bedroom on the floor on her dog bed (She NEVER gets on furniture of any kind). She is completely housebroken....not a single accident in over 2 months. If you lose track of time, she will come to you, whine and make you stop whatever you are doing to go out. If you are looking for a guard dog that barks, that isn't Kota. I work from home and she happily comes upstairs, lays on her mat and looks up every so often just to make sure I am still there. Toys have also evolved into something new. For Christmas she got crinkle and squeaking toys. The squeakers are really cool for her, until the resident dog decides that it shouldn't make that sound anymore. Then Kota will pull the stuffing out. Although it may make your living room, look like it snowed...her joy is worth it. If any of this sounds good to you please reach out to us and my foster mom would love to talk to you and have you meet her.
Birch... He is such a different dog than he was at Thanksgiving when we got him. I have never seen a dog change so much. When he came to us he was a fine house guest. He left everything alone...including us. By Christmas he was starting to come around but still didn't believe he was always going to be loved and taken care of. In the last few weeks he is starting to understand the concept of a family. He will now come over for affection and frequently bathes you with his tongue. Although at times you don't want the bath, you just look at the love in his eyes and you don't care anymore. Toys are a little more important but not the same as Kota. At first, he skeptically chewed a bone. There have been so many milestones in the last two weeks with toys. He played tug of war with Kota and even went to the toy box. But he didn't just go there, he creeped up and did his adorable little bounce on them. We all had to laugh and smile at that milestone. When we first got him we needed a belly band because he would mark in the house. After a few weeks he no longer needed it. He is housebroken but you need to be trained too. They LOVE water. Therefore you need to watch him. His signs aren't as clear as Kota's but he has only had 2 accidents in the last few months. Birch even sleeps with the resident girl. He also doesn't get on any furniture. Just this week he has become an alarm clock at 6:30. Birch has found his voice and it is very funny. His voice isn't a bark and isn't loud. I can't describe what it sounds like but you can come hear it. Birch also comes to my office with me. At first I felt bad because he likes to lay under the desk on my feet and I would bump him. Now I am used to him being so close and love it because of the growth in him.
Kota and Birch are very calm loving dogs. They walk nicely on a leash and are house broken. Birch's favorite thing is to relax with his people and Kota loves ear scratches. Birch provides a sense of safety and Kota provides a sense of calmness for one another. They both get along with the resident dogs in their fosters house and are happy to hang out with them. Kota and Birch arrived at MAGSR from the south the day before Thanksgiving. It was a very special holiday for them because there was food in their belly and a warm soft bed to sleep on. Upon rescue they appeared older than they truly were. A MAGSR vet estimated Birch between 3-5 and Kota between 5-7 years old. They are currently working on gaining weight and strengthening the muscles that were not used as much as needed. Birch has tested heartworm positive as we are seeing more and more due to lack of heartworm preventatives, however MAGSR has already started him on his treatment program and will cover the entire cost. Please donate if you can. If you have room in your home and want a wonderful bonded pair, their foster would love to tell you all about them.
Hi there…It’s me Kota. My foster family has learned so much about me in these last few weeks. I had my first Christmas yesterday in a loving home. Stockings were the best. I got my favorite crackling and squeaking toy!! Of course, good girls like me also get treats. I can’t wait for Christmas in my furever home. Maybe New Year’s, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Valentine’s Day (I’ll give you lots of kisses) but I think you get the point. I have figured out my place in the pack with the resident dogs and we get along wonderfully. My foster parents love having us. My foster dad said we are so easy to love. Just a few…or many…ear scratches and I’ll sleep at your feet like I am with my foster mom right now. If I sound like your kind of dog ask to see me. I’m waiting for you.
Hi there…it’s me Birch. My foster family has learned just as much about me as they have for my best friend Kota. My first Christmas in a home was also yesterday. My stocking was pretty cool too but I am much more laid back about it. My favorite was the beef bone and the freeze-dried chicken. Of course, the new soft beds…now we have one in almost every room… they were a hit with me. I like to curl up on the bed and monitor the room. I haven't quite figured out affection like Kota has. I am happy to get affection, but I don’t always ask for it. So, my foster family comes to me and I do the loving lean in. I am getting the hang of excitement. I do this cute jump. There is nothing like a soft bed and a warm fire. Except maybe a furever home. Are you that for us? We will love you and be devoted companions forever. Ask about us and my foster mom can brag about us for hours!!

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Neko is a playful young pup who recently joined the MAGSR family. Having lived in a loving foster family prior to his arrival at MAGSR, Neko has had the opportunity to begin learning the ins and outs of living in a household. Although Neko was cherished in his foster home, his foster family could no longer care for him due to a change in circumstances. When a plea came out for another rescue to step in, MAGSR answered the call.
Neko is in many ways still a puppy at 10-12 months and like any puppy he has endless energy and curiosity. Adventurous and confident, Neko is a fan of new people and dogs. He is known to greet both with play bows and tail wags. Having lived with children in his previous placement, Neko enjoys interacting with people of all ages. As is true of all dogs from puppies to seniors, Neko will benefit from training. This will help him not only bond with his new family but it will help him develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to become. Although Neko is a young and overall healthy guy, he has been living in a region where mosquitoes carrying heartworms are prevalent. Unfortunately, this boy was not kept up to date on preventatives and heartworm positive. The cost of Neko’s entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Neko is definitely more than worth the cost. Please consider making a donation toward Neko's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Neko will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If Neko sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet this sweet guy today!

Kat and her brother Cloud were surrendered to a shelter when their owner could no longer keep them safe. With extreme cases of overcrowding in shelters in the south right now due to the unprecedented weather they are experiencing, shelters are pleading for rescues to help move dogs to safety. When asked to help Kat and Cloud move forward, we immediately welcomed them into the MAGSR family.
Kat is social and friendly. It is highly evident that her family loved her and worked hard to keep her socialized. Her wiggly personality quickly wins over the hearts of everyone around her. Handsome Dakar was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter in the south. As is true of many GSDs, Dakar struggled at the shelter. However, once volunteers who are comfortable with the breed started working with him, they quickly discovered that this sweet guy had a lot of potential. Recognizing that Dakar would have his best chance at finding his forever home outside the shelter, a plea went out for rescue help. MAGSR answered that call.
Dakar is a playful and curious boy. He enjoys the company of other stable dogs and has greatly enjoyed his time in play group. Although Dakar was a stray, he takes treats gently and walks well on leash. He has quickly begun picking up some basic commands and loves to work for treats. Dakar can be a little timid with new people. However, when given the chance to warm up, he is friendly and playful. He gives kisses and tail wags and seems to enjoy the company of kids. Dakar will do well with a family that will go slow and give him time to adjust. When provided with structure, routine, and leadership, Dakar will have the opportunity to develop into a good canine citizen. If your family sounds like the right match for Dakar, please ask to meet him today.

Bear was found running as a stray in a big city. When animal control picked up this sweet boy they were beyond surprised by his gentle personality. When no one came to claim Bear, the shelter started looking for a rescue so that he could find a safe and loving forever home. Although we don't know much about Bear's history, we do know that he is an affectionate and playful guy. Bear knows a few commands already and is highly food motivated. He takes treats nicely and is eager to learn. This motivation will make Bear the star at training class; participation in training will not only help Bear bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen.
Recently we have learned that sweet Bear is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been properly cared for and provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Bear has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Bear's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Bear is definitely more than worth the cost. Please consider making a donation toward Bear's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Bear will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If your household is looking for a cuddly and playful guy, please ask to meet Bear today.
Koda Mae
ADOPTED 03/06/2021!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Lovely Koda Mae was found as a stray during some of the ice storms Maryland experienced this year. Although attempts were made to find her family, no one stepped up to claim Koda Mae. As Koda Mae was found in a small community, animal control had concerns that this little girl was dumped out in the elements on purpose.
Koda Mae is looking for a loving forever family who will commit to her for a lifetime. As a high drive girl, Koda Mae is all about the ball. It is the perfect training tool and Koda Mae is more than happy to comply. Already knowing a few commands, such as, sit and down, this girl will excel in training. Not only will training help her further develop her skills but it will also help her bond appropriately with her new family. As Koda Mae is an energetic and driven girl, she would be most successful in a household that is experienced with the breed. If Koda Mae sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Indie

Good With Kids: Yes

Indie's family loved him dearly. Unfortunately, they fell on hard times and were no longer able to care for him. Knowing he deserved a forever family that could meet all of his needs, Indie's family surrendered him to shelter hoping he would find a loving home. Although shelter staff greatly enjoyed Indie, they recognized that shepherds struggle at shelters. In order to give Indie his best chance at finding the right match, they transferred Indie to MAGSR.
Indie is a young, curious, and playful guy. He is interested in learning all about the world around him. When given a little time to adjust to his surroundings, he warms up well to new people and situations. A big fan of the snow, Indie will happily play, bounce, and romp around. As Indie is an energetic guy, it will be important that his new family not only exercise his body, but that they also exercise his mind. Indie will benefit greatly from training. As this will help him bond with his new family while also developing in the good canine citizen we know he is destined to become. If Indie sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet him today.
Cloud

Cloud and his sister Kat were surrendered to a shelter when their owner could no longer keep them safe. With extreme cases of overcrowding in shelters in the south right now due to the unprecedented weather they are experiencing, shelters are pleading for rescues to help move dogs to safety. When asked to help Cloud and Kat move forward, we immediately welcomed them into the MAGSR family.
Cloud, like his sister Kat, is social and friendly. It is highly evident that his family loved him and worked hard to keep him socialized. His wiggly personality quickly wins over the hearts of everyone around him. Although we know that Cloud had a family, we do know know if he was kept as an inside or an outside dog. As we get to know him, we will post updates. If sweet Cloud sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet him today!
