Sweet Moose lived with a family. Unfortunately, they were unable to provide him with basic vetting care which resulted in Moose contracting parvo. As this horrifying disease takes so many lives too soon, Moose needed help and fast. Although Moose's family loved him, they could not afford his care and brought him to a shelter. Fortunately, the shelter found the resources to get Moose the life saving care he needed. Having overcome the odds, shelter staff knew that Moose deserved a loving forever home. When they reached out to MAGSR for help, we immediately stepped forward.

Moose is a love. However, he was undersocialized in his previous home. As a result, Moose needs a little time to warm up to new people and new situations. Socialization is critical as it helps build stable and confident dogs. Moose's forever family will need to provide him with opportunities to learn about the world around him. Training will be key to Moose's success. Not only will it help him bond to his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. With patience, structure, and routine, Moose will thrive. If you are looking for a playful guy, ask to meet Moose today.

Lovely Layla was cherished by her family. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they could no longer care for her. We promised Layla's family that we would find her the perfect forever home.

Layla is in many ways your typical GSD. She is intelligent, energetic, and looking for guidance. Having lived in a household, Layla understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. However, as is true of any new home, she will need time to adjust in her forever home. Layla has been socialized with kids and other dogs. She will continue to benefit from slow, proper introductions as this will give her the opportunity to build healthy relationships. As is true of all GSDs, Layla will also benefit greatly from training. Not only will this help her bond to her new family, but it will also help her develop into a confident canine citizen. If your household is ready for this lovely lady, ask to meet her today!

Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd Mix
Approximate Age: 6 years 8 months
Color: Cream
Current Size: 94 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 95 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: No
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
Good With Cats: Likely
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Kaito's family loved him dearly. However, due to a sudden change in circumstances, they were no longer able to care for him. As Kaito's family wanted him to find a safe and loving forever home, they surrendered him to a rescue.

Kaito is a big, interactive, and energetic guy. Having previously lived in a busy household with small dogs and older kids, Kaito enjoys the company of others. However, he is a big guy so he would be best suited for older children. Kaito is social and enjoys the company of other people; however, he needs time to adjust to new people. He is responsive to calm and confident handlers. Kaito's family clearly did a nice job giving him opportunities to socialize with other dogs and meet with success in new situations. Kaito, just like all GSDs, will thrive when provided with structure, leadership, and routine. Food and toy motivated, Kaito loves to learn new skills and will be a star in training class. Starting training with Kaito will help him not only bond with his new family, but it will also help him develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to be. Kaito is looking for a forever family that will provide him with a safe and loving forever home as well as a lot of belly rubs. Could that be with you?

Updates:

Kaito is thriving in his foster home!  He has proven to be a happy go lucky boy who loves the company of other dogs and humans.  He finds solace in his crate and will go in there just to relax with the door left open. He sleeps through the night quietly in his crate and waits patiently in the morning to be let outside to potty.  He takes treats gently and has not shown any food or toy aggression.  At first Kaito did not know how to do the steps in the house but is such a smart boy that in a 24 hours period had them mastered with some coaxing with cheese. He loves to run around the yard with the other dogs and is learning how to play fetch.  He loves things that squeak and is especially fond of his pink ball and orange chicken.  In the house he will play with his stuffed toys by tossing them in the air and trying to catch them or dropping them in your lap for you to throw.  Speaking of lap he thinks he is a lap dog and will try to squeeze into whatever space you give him.  From time to time he may require a stern no if he gets overly excited and starts mouthing which has improved greatly in his time in a foster home.  He loves to be pet and while doing so he will slowly slink down your leg and onto his back for belly rubs.  He engages politely with the other 2 resident dogs and is learning how to play with them.  Kaito is welcoming to people who come in the house but from a distance will bark to let them know he is there protecting the house.  Since Kaito is a big boy and strong he will need someone who can handle him.  Kaito wants nothing more than to find a family to share his joy and love with. Ask to meet Kaito today!

DESCRIPTION:

Handsome Murphy was found hanging out at a high school with his buddy Millie. Both dogs were brought to a shelter where they waited for a family to claim them. When no one came forward, the shelter staff started pleading for rescue support as they were at capacity. Who could say no to such sweet dogs?

Murphy is a playful and energetic guy. He is friendly and good with both people and other dogs. However, he can be vocal with new dogs when first meeting them. As a young guy, Murphy has energy to burn and will do best in a home that can exercise his mind and his body on a daily basis. Arriving as a stray, we do not know what Murphy knows about living in a household. However, he seems to be a quick learner who wants to please his handler. As is true of all dogs, Murphy will thrive when provided with guidance, leadership, and consistency. Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd Dog

Current Size: 77 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 80 lbs
Housebroken: Working on it

Good With Kids: Unknown
Good With Cats: Unknown
Other Dogs OK: Yes, with proper introduction
DESCRIPTION:

Camelot had a rough start in life. He was purchased to be a guard dog and kept outside. Living his life on a chain, Camelot would escape from time to time. His punishment was days in a crate outside with little to no food or water. Fortunately, a kind person recognized that Camelot needed help and fast. They stepped forward to get this sweet guy to safety. Although his rescuers did everything they could to give Camelot a fresh start, these good samaritans recognized that Camelot would have his best chance at finding the perfect forever home if he were placed with a rescue. When asked if we could help Camelot move forward, we were happy to welcome him into the MAGSR family.

Camelot is a big, beautiful boy. Although he has suffered in his past, he is ready to move forward with a loving family who will always provide him with a safe home. A social guy, Camelot enjoys the company of people and other dogs. As is true of all young dogs, Camelot has good energy and would love a family to help him exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. Camelot loves to play ball and hopes his new family does too. He will keep you entertained with his antics. True of all shepherds, Camelot will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. Training will be key to his success. Not only will training help Camelot bond to his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen.

We have learned that Camelot is heartworm positive. This condition could have been avoided had he been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. MAGSR has begun his heartworm treatment and Camelot is doing well. The cost of his entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Camelot is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating  toward Camelot's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Camelot will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If Camelot sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

Boo

ADOPTED 05/22/2021!

Boo
BooBooBooBooBooBooBooBooBooBooBooBooBooBooBoo
Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Approximate Age: 4 years 8 months
Color: Black & Tan
Current Size: 50 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 60 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: No
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Unknown
Good With Cats: Yes
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Lovely Boo was found suffering on the side of the road by a work crew. Recognizing that this girl needed help and fast, they contacted a local rescue who quickly came to Boo's aid. Rushed immediately to the vet, it was clear that Boo was malnourished, covered in a demodex mange, and had already contracted heartworm. She was weak from all of the neglect she had endured. Although Boo immediately began receiving much needed care, it was clear that she would need to be transferred to a rescue who could continue to support Boo as she grew stronger. When asked to welcome Boo into the MAGSR family, we immediately stepped up to help her.

Although Boo has clearly endured a lot in her short life, she is an absolute sweetheart. Everyone who has met Boo has been amazed by her gentle personality. Somewhat timid with new people and situations, Boo will do best in a household that will provide her with the time, patience, and leadership to adjust to her new home. Boo is growing stronger every day. She is ready to begin looking for a forever home that will continue to show her that the world can be a kind and loving place. If Boo sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Boo is adjusting very well to living in a house.  Her foster reports she is housebroken and she will let you know when she needs to go out. She also does well in the crate overnight.  Since Boo is heartworm positive she needs to keep her activity level limited to leash walks and no running or jumping.

Boo, like any puppy, likes to “collect” items around the house and relocate them so it is important to give her alternate toys which she loves to play with. Her favorite toy is a yellow rope that she engages with her handler. Boo has learned to be around cats (7) as a matter of fact and mostly ignores them so she will likely do fine in a house with a cat.  Boo is an incredibly sweet give who loves attention and being with her people.  She would love a family to call her own.  Please ask to meet Boo!

It is just a joy to be in the presence of lil’ Miss Boo!   She has been through so much – found by the side of the road all banged up, a terrible skin condition, and heartworm – but she is upbeat, and so sweet and happy to be with just about anyone, all wiggly and jumpy just like you would expect of a young GSD!    She is feeling and looking a lot better, her skin is healed and her coat has grown in, and her energy is growing.  That  makes the crate rest and exercise limitations for her heartworm a little hard on this young girl, but she is managing like a trooper.  She has a LOT of personality, and she knows she’s hot stuff, so she is something of a diva and can make and little racket and rattle around if she thinks someone is not doing what she wants, but she is super smart and responds very well to consistent leadership and clear communication.  She is very well crate acclimated and pretty well house broken, but she will sometimes submissive pee if she gets excited.  She is also a bit mouthy, but she has improved a lot on both fronts pretty quickly.   So with continued guidance and structure as she matures, she will be a very mannerly girl, but she would do best in a home with no small children.   She loves her bunkmate, an older female GSD, and wants to play but she can’t yet.  Boo is young, enthusiastic, and easily over-stimulated, so it’s best not to get too playful with her for now, so she can try to stay cool, calm, and collected for her HW treatment and recovery over the next couple months.  But once she’s been through that, watch out for this little pistol!  If you think you might be interested in Boo, better get in line soon, because she is something!

DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Annisa and her siblings - Orion and Kiernan - arrived in MAGSR's care after being transferred from another rescue. They have clearly been well cared for and are waiting patiently for their forever homes. As these babies were living in a foster home prior to arrival, they have already begun to develop their social skills with people and other animals. It is essential that their new families continue this process as it will help them develop into stable and confident adults. Annisa is your typical puppy - playful, wiggly, and curious about everything. Recognizing that toys provide endless fun, Annisa happily moves from one toy the next for entertainment. Although Annisa is adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, guidance and training, Annisa will develop into the good canine citizen that we know she is destined to become. If this little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.

Annisa continually impresses her foster parents. She already knows how to sit, rarely has accidents in the house, sleeps well in her crate, and loves to snuggle with anyone who will let her sit in their lap. She likes to get the attention of the resident German Shepherd in the house and meet new dogs and people. Toys and peanut butter are Annisa’s favorite things. She is extremely affectionate and loves to adventure in the backyard.

DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Honey's family loved her dearly. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they were unable to continue to care for her. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender her to a rescue. Although this was hard to do, Honey's family knew it was in her best interest to move forward. We appreciate all that they did for Honey.

Honey lives up to her name. She is a lovely girl. Having been well socialized with people and animals, Honey gets along well with just about everyone. She has lived with dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks without issues. As a young, big, and energetic girl, Honey will need daily exercise for both her body and mind. This will help her burn her energy appropriately while also stimulating her mind. Training will be very beneficial for Honey as it will not only help her bond with her new family, but it will also help her become a good canine citizen. If Honey sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today!

Updates:

Honey has been living with a foster for 2 weeks now they are happy to report Honey is 100% house broken and crate trained.  Honey loves to be near her humans, play with toys and chew on bones.  She does not go to the bathroom on a leash so a fenced in yard would be the best fit for her, she will only go to one spot in the yard to do her business.  We are working on Honey’s introduction to other dogs, we think something in her past must have happened to make her untrusting of others initially.  She currently has 6 foster siblings, so she is getting a lot of practice socializing and so far her favorites are a miniature poodle and the dominant lone female GSD.

Lovely Fox was a victim of cruelty and neglect. Fortunately, when animal services learned of her situation, they moved quickly to help Fox as well as other animals in the household. Although this sweet girl was adjusting to her new circumstances, shelter staff recognized that Fox would have her best chance at finding a loving forever home if she was transferred to a rescue. When asked to help Fox move forward, MAGSR immediately stepped up.

Fox is a beautiful girl both inside and out. Although she has had to endure circumstances that no one should have to live through, her sweet spirit remains. As she can be a little timid when first new people, Fox warms up quickly with patience and kindness. A few high value treats also go a long way. Once comfortable, Fox is your typical young shepherd. She enjoys snuggles, being close to her people, and goofing around. Currently living with senior GSDs and a few cats, Fox enjoys the company of animals that will give her a minute to warm up to them. She seems most comfortable with one of the pushy, dog-savvy cats. As is true of most shepherds, Fox will benefit greatly from training. DESCRIPTION:

Lovely Macy was picked up as a stray with her little family in a busy city. Recognizing that sweet Macy deserved to live a life of comfort and love, the shelter staff made a rescue plea for Macy. MAGSR stepped in to help Macy.

Macy is a sweetheart that quickly wins over the hearts and minds of everyone she meets. A constant source of tail wags and joy, Macy couldn't have a kinder personality. Although we know that Macy is an incredible girl, we have learned that she is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if she has been properly cared for and provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Macy has begun her heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Macy's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Macy is clearly well worth the cost. Please donate toward Macy's treatment, your generosity will help us save her and other dogs with medical needs. Although Macy will need to take it slow over the next few months, she will be back to full strength once her treatment is finished. If your household can provide the love and comfort that Macy deserves, ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Macy has been a great houseguest.   Macy is good with the resident dog, she’s quiet in the crate with very little protesting.  She enjoys her walks & takes treats nicely.  Macy has learned stairs within a day (at first didn’t want to go up or down) & also has joined her foster when he teaches his Zoom/FaceTime lessons.  She is very sweet & wants to please!

We have had Macy for two months. During this time, she has successfully undergone three rounds of heartworm treatment and has also put on some much needed weight.

She is a very sweet dog and aims to please. She gets along with our dogs but we have to limit their time together--she is still recovering from her procedures and needs to remain calm

If you’re looking for a loving, affectionate, friendly dog--who loves to give hugs--as an addition to your household, Macy would make a great candidate.

DESCRIPTION:

Zoose was surrendered to a shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. As is true of many shepherds in shelters, Zoose was unsure about all of the changes in his life. Recognizing that Zoose would have his best chance at finding a forever home in a rescue, he was transferred to MAGSR.

In a lot of ways Zoose is a big, goofy guy. He is interactive and playful once comfortable with his people. It is clear that his previous owner took some time to teach him a few basic commands such as sit, down and shake. As a big boy who seeks leadership, Zoose is a good match for an experienced handler who understands the breed. As he moves forward, Zoose will benefit greatly from training. This will not only help Zoose become a good canine citizen, but it will also help him bond more effectively with his new family. If you are ready to provide Zoose with the structure and routine that all dogs crave, please ask to meet him today.

Color: Black & Brown
Current Size: 50 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 55 lbs

Obedience Trained: No
Altered: No

Good With Kids: Unknown
Good With Cats: Likely
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Andy was picked up as a stray and brought to the shelter in the South where he waited patiently for someone to come for him and sadly no one did. Unfortunately, he was continuously passed by and with time running short, he needed a rescue to step in.  We were pleased to be that rescue and welcomed him into the MAGSR family with the promise that we would find him a loving forever home.

Andy is as sweet as they come and wows everyone with his gentle and easy-going personality. He is friendly with both people and dogs. In many ways Andy is a blank slate who is ready to move forward with his new family.   Like all dogs, Andy will benefit from training as it will not only help him integrate into his new family, but it will also help him become a good canine citizen

Unfortunately, Andy is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Andy has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Andy's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Andy is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Andy's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Andy will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished.

Andy is looking for a forever family that will commit to him for a lifetime.    If your household is looking for a sweet, beautiful guy, please ask to meet him today.

Current Size: 20 lbs
Housebroken: No, I'm a puppy!
Obedience Trained: No, I'm a puppy!

Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes

DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Kiernan and his siblings - Annisa and Orion - arrived in MAGSR's care after being transferred from another rescue. They have clearly been well cared for and are waiting patiently for their forever homes. As these babies were living in a foster home prior to arrival, they have already begun to develop their social skills with people and other animals. It is essential that their new families continue this process as it will help them develop into stable and confident adults. Kiernan is your typical puppy - adventurous, wiggly, playful and cuddly. He loves being close to his people and checks in regularly. Recognizing that toys provide endless fun, Kiernan happily moves from one toy the next for entertainment. Although Kiernan is a love, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, they get into things, and they will chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, guidance and training, Kiernan will develop into the good canine citizen that we know he is destined to become. Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd Mix
Approximate Age: 12 years 8 months
Color: Black & Tan
Current Size: 67 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: Partially
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
Good With Cats: Likely
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Odin was absolutely cherished by his family. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, they needed to rehome him. It is highly apparent that he has been well loved and cared for and just needs the right household to live out his golden years.

Odin is friendly, affectionate, and playful. Having lived in a household, Odin is housebroken and crate trained. Odin also has some basic commands already in place. He knows sit, stay, come, down, paw, nose, and ok. Although Odin has some obedience training, he will need to attend training as this will help him bond with his new family. Odin enjoys the company of other dogs and has lived with a cat. Although he can handle older children, he is uncomfortable around younger children and will be most successful in a household without them. Odin is looking for a forever family that will keep his mind and body well exercised while also making sure he gets plenty of belly rubs. If Odin sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!

Updates:

Odin is very sweet and loves to play ball.   He sits nicely for his food, waits until he is released to go outside and walks nicely on a leash.  If you are looking for a well behaved older dog that still has a lot of spunk then this guy is the one.

Bailey

Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd Mix
Approximate Age: 4 years 7 months
Color: Black & Tan
Current Size: 47 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: No
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Bailey and her siblings were part of an accidental litter. Her family loved her greatly and took good care of her and her siblings. However, as the puppies grew older, it became difficult to take care of so many dogs. Recognizing that Bailey and her siblings would be better able to receive the care and attention they deserved if they were rehomed, Bailey's owner made the difficult decision to surrender the group of siblings to MAGSR. We promised that we would find each member of the family safe and loving forever homes.

Bailey is a sweetheart. She was well socialized in her home with kids and other dogs. However, her family struggled to find time to socialize her in the community. As a result, Bailey can be a little timid with new people and in new places. Given time, patience, and guidance, Bailey will develop the confidence she needs outside of the household. Just like any young dog, Bailey will thrive with structure, routine and training. Training will help her to not only bond with her new family but also develop into the stable adult we know she is destined to be. If Bailey sounds like the right match for your household, please ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Bailey is doing good in her foster home.  She is very affectionate, housebroken and crate trained.  Bailey gets along great with the other dogs in the home and has made herself quite comfortable hanging out with them, playing with toys and chewing on bones.  Her foster family will continue to work with her on socialization and walking on a leash while she waits for her furever home.  If you are looking for a sweetheart that loves attention and is a bundle of fun this is your little girl.

Metro was confiscated from his owner over a year ago. However, due to legal proceedings, he was unable to move forward until his court case ended. Although safe at the shelter while the case proceeded, once the case ended, Metro needed out and fast as his time was up. Recognizing that Metro is an amazing dog, shelter staff began networking him in an attempt to find a rescue that could help him before it was too late. When we received Metro's plea, we immediately welcomed him into the MAGSR family.

Metro is a big, beautiful guy. Having previously lived in a household, he does understand many of the household rules. However, just like any new dog he will benefit from a refresher. As is true of any GSD, Metro will thrive in an environment with structure, routine, and leadership. It is highly evident that Metro's previous owner took a lot of time to train him. Metro knows commands in both English and German and does well with a handler that is clear about expectations. While living at the shelter, staff found Metro's stable personality to be an asset. He quickly became the dog tester for the shelter. Good with dogs of all sizes, Metro has the benefit of age, maturity, and confidence. Metro is looking for a forever family that will provide him with a safe and loving forever home, could that be with you?

DESCRIPTION:

Midnight's owner loved him dearly. When circumstances beyond his control interfered with this ability to care for Midnight, he was surrendered to a shelter. Midnight immediately won over the shelter staff with his easy-going personality. Unphased by much of what was happening around him, Midnight's stable personality with people and dogs quickly made him a favorite. Although Midnight was available for adoption through the shelter, it was felt that he would have his best chance of finding the right fit through a rescue. At this time we are still getting to know Midnight. As we get to know him better, we will post updates here. If Midnight sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

Updates:

Midnight’s foster family has reported that he is very friendly, easygoing, and shows no aggression.  He shows interest in other dogs, but he is currently separated from the dogs in the home because he is recovering from kennel cough).  When he sees other dogs on his walk, he is curious but does not bark or growl.  Midnight loves people.  He LOVES snuggling and giving kisses.  Midnight particularly enjoys going on walks and does well on a leash.  He also likes to look out the window, chew on bones, and play with tug toys.  He eats well and loves treats.  He is housebroken (and has had no accidents), stays in the mudroom at night (and has not cried or barked even once!), and knows basic commands but does not always listen (especially if he is excited to go out for a walk!).  Like most dogs, he could benefit from some obedience training!

If Midnight sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

Midnight has fully recovered from kennel cough, and he has settled in nicely with the foster family’s two German Shepherds.  They have become a pack of three who go on walks together, play in the yard, and share toys.  Midnight's favorite toys are bones (any and every kind!) and tug toys, but he shares nicely with the other dogs.  He and our German Shepherd Vader are in constant competition for the toys, one takes the toys when the other is not looking!  But no fighting or aggression at all.  Midnight definitely looks up to Vader and wants to be just like him!  Midnight is housebroken and sleeps in our mudroom at night without any complaining.  He knows when it is bedtime and will go into the mudroom without being asked and waiting for the gate to be put up!  Midnight has easily learned basic commands, such as sit.  When dinner is being prepared, he waits next to his bowl without being told to do so.  Midnight loves to snuggle and makes sure you know when he wants some love (he pushes his head gently into your chest and waits for hugs!).  He is a very easy going dog and would fit in well with any family with little adjustment time.

Milton and his brother, Teddy, are siblings from different litters. They were living with their parents and a few other dogs on a breeder's property. Milton is a friendly guy. Having grown up with dogs of a variety of ages, he enjoys the company of other dogs. However, he is less comfortable around alpha males. According to his owner, Milton has grown up with children and did well with them. Although we know that Milton had an owner, we are not sure if he was kept as an inside dog or an outside dog. We do know that he did not have any vetting prior to his arrival at MAGSR. Unfortunately, Milton is heartworm positive. Handsome Finnegan was picked up as a stray in June of 2020 and brought to a rural shelter. Staff members quickly fell in love with this big, goofy guy and did what they could to help him find his forever home. Sweet little Boscoe was dropped off in a rural shelter. With limited options available for this little sweetheart, the shelter immediately began pleading for help. As shelters are not often safe for puppies especially, if they have not completed their puppy shots, Boscoe needed out immediately. When asked if we could help out, MAGSR was happy to step up.

Boscoe is the perfect combination of cuddles, tail wags, and unending joy. He has been living with a foster family for the last few weeks which has given him the opportunity to begin learning the ins and outs of living in a home. Living with kids and a variety of different dogs, Boscoe is benefitting greatly from regular socialization. This socialization is critical for puppies as it helps them develop into stable adult dogs. DESCRIPTION:

Lovely Izzy was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter in the south. Unfortunately, the shelter that she arrived at lacks the resources to meet the needs of many of the animals in their care. As a result, dogs with medical needs often do not receive the care and attention they need in order to move forward. When another rescue heard about Izzy's situation, they began networking her with the hope of helping this sweet senior lady find a loving forever home. Recognizing that Izzy was out of options but deserved the dignity of living out her golden years in comfort and safety, we stepped up and welcomed Izzy into the MAGSR family.

Izzy's eyes tell a story of their own. They tell the story of pain and neglect while also crying out for comfort and love. Izzy is learning to trust her people; it is evident that kind hands have not always been used with her. With patience and gentleness, Izzy slowly warms up and will ask for love and attention. She loves to slowly slink over to your lap for head scratches and love. As Izzy did not receive the medical attention she needed prior to her arrival at MAGSR, she will require additional support in order to move forward. Izzy will do best in a calm and stable household where she can remain on the first floor as Izzy's body is simply not as strong as her mind at this time. Diagnosed as heartworm positive, Izzy will need to keep her activity limited over the next few months as her body heals. Although Izzy has clearly not always experienced kindness, she remains a gentle and affectionate dog. If Izzy sounds like the right match for your household, please inquire about her today.

Updates:

Lovely Izzy has been spending the last month enjoying the comforts of soft beds, blankets, and snuggles. She quickly warmed up to her foster family, particularly, the littles in the household. Her sweet and gentle nature rose to the surface as soon as she realized she was safe. Easily recognizing the most comfortable places to rest in the house, Izzy is often found on a snuggly blanket or spread out on the couch. However, true to shepherd nature, when Izzy's foster family is moving about she likes to be right where they are keeping tabs on everyone. She truly is the sweetest shadow. Although Izzy has had a few vet visits over the last month to ensure that her needs are fully met, she has been patient and gentle with everyone she has encountered. With everything she has endured, Izzy's body will never be as strong as it once was. She will always be wobbly and will need some additional support when moving about. However, this enchanting lady would love a forever family that will provide her with the comfort and dignity all seniors deserve. If you are looking for a senior pup, who is a big fan of head rubs and squeaky toys, Izzy is your girl. Please consider providing her with the loving forever family that all pups deserve.

DESCRIPTION:

Beautiful Diana and her housemates, Megan and Harry, were confiscated from their owner.  Although all three dogs get along with one another, it appears that Diana is a little more timid than the other two. As this set of dogs have relied on one another for comfort and safety, they clearly enjoy and appreciate the companionship of another dog. When confiscated, it was clear to animal control officers that these three were not well cared for or socialized around other people. As a result, they all require some time to adjust to new people and situations. Diana appears to be the least socialized of the three. She is still learning that people can be kind and caring. Best suited for a quiet household, Diana will need time, patience, and leadership as she moves forward. Training is an essential aspect of recovery particularly with a fearful dog. As a confidence building activity and a socialization opportunity, Diana will gain stability and trust through training. Although her humans have failed her in the past, Diana is ready to move forward. Is your family the right match for her?

Updates:

Megan is housebroken and crate trained.  She lets her fosters know when she needs to go out.  She LOVES TO SNUGGLE, and when she recognizes a treat she will automatically sit for it. She doesn't  like to be alone if there are others in the house-- she will try to be near you.  Megan arrived with an upper respiratory infection so she is annoyed she cannot play with the resident dogs, but hopefully that will change soon as she is on antibiotics and on the mend.  If you are looking for a loyal dog that just wants to be loved and with your human, Megan is the one.

An immediate plea was sent out for help. With the support of an amazing team of veterinarians and a kind donor, MAGSR was able to get this little family the help they needed. Against the odds, all three little fighters survived.

Having survived parvo, Zenobia is a super puppy. She cannot ever contract this horrible disease again. Ready to move onto a life of love, cuddles, and safety, Zenobia cannot wait to meet her forever family. Although Zenobia is beyond sweet, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require an endless amount of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics, get into things, and chew on inappropriate items. With time, patience, guidance, and training, Zenobia will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If Zenobia sounds like the right match for your family, please ask to meet her today.

Sweet Stewie was picked up as a stray. When he arrived at the shelter, he quickly won over shelter staff with his friendly and outgoing personality. When asked to welcome Stewie into the MAGSR family, we immediately started putting plans into place to help Stewie move forward.

Stewie is a social guy. He enjoys the company of people and other dogs. As a playful guy, Stewie loves to play with toys of all varieties. He is good about sharing his toys and treats with others. At the shelter he even made sure to try to share his food with a visiting pot bellied pig! Stewie has been diagnosed as heartworm positive. His entire treatment will be handled by MAGSR.

Sirius

ADOPTED 04/17/2021!

Sirius is going home!
SiriusSiriusSiriusSiriusSiriusSiriusSiriusSiriusSirius
Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Approximate Age: 6 years 9 months
Color: Black & Tan
Current Size: 82 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 82 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: No
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Unknown
Good With Cats: Unknown
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Sirius and another male were picked up by animal control when they were found showing too much interest in a female dog in heat running loose. Although Sirius waited for his family to reclaim him, no one came to bring him home. Sirius quickly became a shelter staff favorite. Recognizing that Sirius would have his best chance at finding a forever home outside of the shelter, he was transferred to MAGSR.

Sirius is a sweet dog who can be a little timid with new people. When given the opportunity to warm up Sirius enjoys the company of his people. Clearly having been on leash before, Sirius seems to understand some leash manners already. When introduced to dogs at the shelter, Sirius did well particularly, with the females. He even kept his cool when one of them was having a rough day. As a young dog, Sirius will thrive in a home that provides him with structure and routine. Training will go a long way with this boy as it will not only help him bond with his new family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. Sirius will do well in a more experienced household that can provide him with the leadership that he craves. If Sirius sounds like the right match for your household, please ask him today.

Updates:

Sirius is a very sweet and loving boy. He enjoys belly rubs and is working on perfecting his "shepherd lean". When I am home, I allow Sirius to free roam the house.  He is always close by, but not right on top of you. He enjoys lounging around the house (probably a good thing as he recovers from heart worms). He does very well on leash, he is housebroken and crate trained. He is very friendly with new people and approaches them without hesitation and a wagging tail. He does not show aggression towards other dogs we pass while walking for potty breaks.

Sirius does get nervous and shows anxiety when left at home alone, his foster is working with him to learn to be confident and comfortable.   If you are looking for a best friend that just wants to be with his humans, please reach out to meet this handsome guy.

Jam

ADOPTED 04/17/2021!

Jam and the Fam!
JamJam
Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Age: 11 years 8 months
Color: black & tan
Current Size: 89lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 80lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: Partially
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
Good With Cats: Unlikely
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Jam's family loved him dearly; however, they found themselves in a situation where Jam needed to be rehomed. Although it was very hard to say goodbye, Jam's family recognized that this was in his best interest. MAGSR promised Jam's family that we would find him a safe and loving forever home.

Jam is a friendly guy. He is a fan of both people and dogs but can get a little overexcited when meeting them and stop to talk a bit. We all love to socialize. A big fan of walks, Jam understands that when the leash comes out it is time to go. Although he knows many commands on leash, refreshers are always a good thing for everyone. As is true of any new dog, Jam will meet with success in a structured environment that will provide him with time and leadership while he adjusts to his new home. As a working line dog, Jam will need both his body and mind exercised on a daily basis. When engaging with Jam, he is most excited by balls, rubber bones, and food based toys. Although he wouldn't mind plush toys either, Jam tends to destroy them. Something a little stronger is safer in Jam's case. If you love to throw the ball, Jam is the dog for you. He loves a nice rotation when chasing the ball. We hear three is the magic number with Jam. Daily exercise will not only help Jam adjust positively to his new environment but it will also help him gain stability as he moves forward. Jam is clearly a special guy who is looking for the perfect forever home. Is that home with you?

Updates:

Jam is living with his foster and they have reported he is a gentle, well behaved dog.  He seems to love people, is somewhat trained and really easy to handle. He is housebroken and crate trained.  If you are looking for an older, gentle dog that is well behaved please ask to meet this handsome boy.

Jam may be called a Senior, but don't be fooled this guy is energetic and active.

Jam is fully housebroken and crate trained.  He doesn’t lay on furniture, does not counter surf, does not beg at the dinner table and is well mannered.  He’s a real gentleman inside the house but he has his way of telling you when he wants to go out or needs more water. This guy will sleep in his crate all through the night without a peep.

He loves to play tug of war with his Red Bone but when you have had enough, he lays down and chews on it. He’s a big, strong boy who loves to go on walks but is much too busy sniffing around to pull anyone along.  He knows several commands but could use a refresher course or just more practice.  Of course, he’ll do anything for food or a snack.

He has a big bark but we’ve never seen a snarl or growl. He loves meeting new people and gets excited to meet other dogs but settles down after proper introductions.

If you want someone to spend some time with and respond unconditionally, Jam’s the right dog!
