Gucci
ADOPTED 02/24/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
The fashion puppies found themselves surrendered to an overcrowded shelter as their owner felt they had too many animals. Although clearly social and interactive, a shelter is not a safe place for puppies as they do not have the immune system in place to help them fight off disease. In addition, living in a crowded and stressful environment is not conducive to healthy development. Recognizing that these babies needed to move forward safely, MAGSR stepped forward and welcomed this sweet set of babies to the rescue.
The fashion puppies - Gucci, Louis V, Prada, Dior, and Chanel - are ready to find their forever families. These babies are social, interactive, and energetic. They are the perfect mix of fun. Gucci was surrendered to the shelter with her siblings. When MAGSR originally committed to the family, Gucci has been pre-adopted by a family. As a result, we were able to welcome the remaining four siblings and wished Gucci the best with her new family. However, as is MAGSR policy, we did inform the shelter that if the adoption fell through, we would provide Gucci with a place in the MAGSR family. The remaining four puppies joined the MAGSR family and Gucci left with her new family. As luck would have it, a week into the adoption, the family decided they no longer wanted Gucci and wanted to return her immediately. Knowing that we would honor our commitment to this girl, staff members at the shelter contacted our team immediately and Gucci was redirected to MAGSR. We promised Gucci that we would find her the perfect family that would commit to her for a lifetime.
Gucci is a playful, interactive, and goofy pup. She has had a lot of changes in the last few weeks but is adjusting to everything in a graceful manner. Having lived in a home for a short while, she has had some exposure to living in a home. However, we do not have any information from her previous family. Gucci like all GSDs, craves structure, leadership, and consistency. It is critical that her forever family puts this set-up into place. It is also essential that her forever family continues to provide Gucci with socialization in varied environments with varied people and animals. This will help her meet with success.
Although these babies are beyond adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, routine, and training, we know that all of the Fashion puppies will meet with success. If little Miss Gucci sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet this stunning baby today!
Errol
ADOPTED 02/23/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
The name Errol is a Scottish surname that can be associated with prominent Scottish aristocrats, however, that couldn’t be further from the case for poor Errol, or The Duke of Errol as we call him. He was confiscated from his previous owners as he was not only neglected, but abused. Yet, The Duke of Errol has the sweetest demeanor and is happy to have been rescued by MAGSR. The Duke of Errol is currently around the 60 lb mark, is missing some hair due to neglect, and is hoping to find a loving family to help him live up to his name, an aristocrat of not only your household, but more importantly, your heart!
As we are getting to know The Duke of Errol, we have learned he is incredibly sweet to everyone he meets and is likely good with kids and other dogs. The Duke of Errol would benefit from a family/person who is willing to designate some time to helping him learn the ropes and become the best GSD he can be while he recovers from his horrible past. As is true with all dogs, he would absolutely thrive in a home where his family is either familiar with German Shepherds or is eager to learn about the temperament of the breed while providing the essentials - training, structure, boundaries, routines, and continued guidance.
If The Duke of Errol sounds like he would be the right fit for you/your family, please arrange for a proper introduction! The ‘Duke” will need some time to decompress given the abuse and neglect he survived prior to arriving at MAGSR. Ask to meet The Duke of Errol today!
Errol is enjoying life in his foster home. He has great house manners, is housebroken, and crate trained. He’s a very calm and laid- back boy who loves attention – especially belly rubs. He walks well on a leash and knows basic commands. Given his sweet and tolerant nature, it’s hard to believe that he was ever neglected or abused. If you’re looking for a gentle GSD, consider meeting Errol and giving him the loving home that he deserves.
You know those days where nothing, not a single thing, can go right for you? Poor Errol has been living that day his whole life. Errol came to us from an abusive and neglected home, with heartworms. While we began his treatment directly, we didn't know that Errol had also been dealt a bad hand from the start and was born with a heart condition. We learned this when Errol recently found himself at the Pet ER with almost half a gallon of fluid in his abdomen! Workups with the cardiologist diagnosed him with a form of heart disease called mitral valve dysplasia. The thing about this disease is it puts a large amount of pressure on the left side of the heart, whereas his heartworms are doing the same thing to the right side. As if this wasn't bad enough, he also is suffering from tricuspid valve dysplasia, a rough condition made even more serious due to his heartworms. In fact, the heartworms are causing a litany of serious conditions for Errol including high blood pressure, eosinophilia and other pulmonary concerns. While not all of Errol's problems could have been prevented with heartworm preventatives, he would be in a much more treatable state had someone given him that monthly medication earlier in life.
As you may expect, there are a lot of question marks surrounding Errol's health and his future. He has been prescribed several medications that take some time to become effective before his true prognosis can be determined. He has been placed with an incredible medical foster who is dedicated to getting him to his many appointments, keeping him safe on exercise restriction, and ensuring he gets his many medications on time. Despite the road he has been on, Errol continues to be sweet and loving and we want more than anything to provide him with health and comfort. He is worth every penny but the road ahead is an expensive one for Errol. Would you consider becoming one of his angels and making a donation to his health fund today?
Wesson
ADOPTED 02/17/2024!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Wesson was picked up in the south as a stray. This handsome guy waited for his family to come and claim him, but no one stepped forward. Although Wesson was clearly meant to live in a loving home, when no one stepped forward for this guy, he was moved to the list for euthanasia. Shelters simply do not have enough spaces for the overwhelming number of animals flowing into their facilities on a daily basis. Although they are trying to help dogs move forward, options are not always available. Wesson got lucky and another group was able to pull him at the last second and keep him safe till they could find a rescue for him. When they learned that MAGSR had an opening for a new dog, we were asked to welcome Wesson to the family. Who could deny this sweet face?
As Wesson was located a distance from us, he needed a little extra help arriving in the MAGSR family. So, we were able to work with another incredible group, Pilots and Paws, who made sure that Wesson arrived in style. This boy sure has had a lot of people in his corner ensuring that finds an amazing forever home. Wesson is an active, intelligent, and playful guy. This boy is looking for an adventurous family that will engage him in daily activities. A family that will not only exercise his mind but also his body is key to Wesson's success. A family that will help provide structure, routine, and leadership will help Wesson thrive. Although we do not know much about his past, we do know that Wesson's future is bright. He is eager to learn and is food motivated. This happy guy will be a star at training. Not only will training help Wesson develop the strong, healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him learn the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. If Wesson sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet this boy today!
Hunter
ADOPTED 02/17/2024!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Hunter was found running around outside of an apartment complex in a busy city. As it was clear this boy was hungry, cold, and scared, the finder contacted an area shelter that came and picked up this sweet guy. Although Hunter was heading indoors with food, shelter, and medical care available, he was also heading into an overcapacity shelter whose facility simply cannot accommodate the endless number of homeless animals entering it on a daily basis. Unfortunately, this is the reality of many shelters throughout the country. Recognizing that this pup deserved the opportunity to grow up in a loving household, MAGSR stepped forward and welcomed Hunter into the family.
Hunter is a young, intelligent, and affectionate guy. He loves romping around outside and is learning about the joys of toys. Still discovering the ins and outs of living in a household, Hunter will benefit greatly from clear structure, routine, and leadership. We do not know anything about Hunter's past, but we do know that his future is bright with MAGSR. As is true of all young shepherds, it is critical that Hunter's family continue his socialization. Opportunities to learn about new people, animals, and environments will help Hunter further develop his confidence in the world around him. It is also essential that Hunter participate in training. Not only will training help Hunter develop a strong, healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him grow up to become a good canine citizen. If this sweetheart seems like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Updates:Hunter is a smart and lovable pup. He's got lots of energy and plenty of puppy antics, but is quickly learning the house rules. He is fully housebroken, crate-trained, and sleeps through the night in his crate. He's also a gem in the car. He is currently working on his commands and is doing very well in this department. He knows sit, down, shake, wait, stay, gentle, out, and no.
Hunter loves playing with toys, whether it be outside or inside. He is learning how to play fetch, though it seems to us that he sometimes prefers to play keep away. He has done well around our two dogs (one smaller and one bigger) and has shown no negative reactivity on this front. He is definitely interested in playing and does so as a mouthy puppy, but we are working with him to learn to calm down and chill out when needed.
Hunter definitely needs someone that will instill structure, training, and consistency as this extremely smart boy will try to push the limits if he is allowed to do so, but given these things, he will flourish and become a wonderful companion for life. So much so, if we didn't already have two of our own, we'd probably try to keep him for ourselves.
Kai + Quetta
ADOPTED 02/15/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Quetta and Kai were surrendered to a local shelter when their family could no longer care for them. Although they were clearly loved, these two were, understandably, a little lost finding themselves at a crowded shelter rather than at home. Recognizing that this pair deserved a forever family that would keep them together for a lifetime, shelter staff sent out a plea for rescue help. Having worked with several sets of bonded pairs over the years, our team recognizes the importance of keeping family together. We know that when given the chance to find the right match, these two will find an amazing family. It is our honor to welcome them to the MAGSR family.
As Kai and Quetta are a bonded pair, they are looking for an incredible forever family that has room in their hearts for two. They are quite the complementary pair. Kai is the pushy goofball. He likes to make a game of everything and always wants to be part of any interaction. As a young guy, he has some good energy and is hoping his forever family enjoys adventures and plenty of playtime. Quetta is your sweet and affectionate velcro dog. She likes to know where her people are at all times and is beyond happy to snuggle up for extra chin scratches. Quetta tends to bring the calming aspect to the pair. Playful and well-matched together, these two definitely enjoy their daily play sessions. They understand the joy of toys and hope their forever family has plenty of them. When playtime is done, Quetta and Kai love to settle down and relax near their people. Although they love their people, Kai and Quetta love each other as well. They prefer to remain close together and tend to stress when separated.
Typical of the breed, this pair bonds strongly and quickly to their people. It is key that their forever family work with them to create a strong and healthy bond. Training will be critical to their success. Not only will training help both Kai and Quetta develop a healthy relationship with their family, but it will also help them develop into good canine citizens. Food motivated and incredibly gentle with treats, this pair will be the top of their class. Having clearly lived in a home, Quetta and Kai are housebroken and crate trained. They seem to understand many of the ins and outs of living in a household. Although they have many of the foundational skills needed to meet with success, they, like any new family member, will need time to adjust to their forever family. The opportunity to adjust will help everyone meet with success. Quetta and Kai are a special pair that is looking for an adoring family that will love them for a lifetime. If they sound like the right match for your household, please ask to meet them today!
Dior

The fashion puppies found themselves surrendered to an overcrowded shelter as their owner felt they had too many animals. Although clearly social and interactive, a shelter is not a safe place for puppies as they do not have the immune system in place to help them fight off disease. In addition, living in a crowded and stressful environment is not conducive to healthy development. Recognizing that these babies needed to move forward safely, MAGSR stepped forward and welcomed this sweet set of babies to the rescue.
The fashion puppies - Louis V, Prada, Dior, and Chanel - are ready to find their forever families. These babies are social, interactive, and energetic. They are the perfect mix of fun. Dior has an independent and fun-loving personality. She can hold her own in the group and can be a little sassy. This girl will definitely fill your home with giggles. Having lived in an amazing foster home, these babies have begun learning the ins and outs of living in a household. They, like all GSDs, crave structure, leadership, and consistency. Their foster family has worked hard to put this set-up into place. However, it is very important that their forever family continue this process. Maya
ADOPTED 02/13/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Maya came to MAGSR after she was confiscated from a cruelty and neglect case. Maya and her brother were severely neglected and malnourished, only being fed a small portion of a chicken thigh a week. Unfortunately, her brother succumbed to malnourishment before we could save him.
Since we’ve had Maya in our care, we are still learning about her, but do know beyond her shyness, she is very sweet. Obviously given what she experienced, she will need time to decompress, learn to trust people and realize she is safe. Maya is thought to be between 1-2 years and will need training.
An ideal family or companion for Maya will need to be understanding, patient and willing to give her the space and time, given what she went through, but also won’t be afraid to set and reinforce boundaries. She will need to learn how to be a dog, how to play and build her confidence. Sweet Maya will need basic training, consistency, and routine to help her continue on this journey.
We believe that in the right environment, Maya will continue to come out of her shell once she is given an opportunity to fully decompress and understand that she is finally safe, not just short term, but for the rest of her life.
If sweet Maya sounds like your ideal ‘FURever’ companion, please consider adopting her!
Champ
ADOPTED 02/13/2024!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
The Kentucky Six - Diego, Champ, Serena, Peanut, Evie, and Yogi - are cruelty and neglect survivors. Living in inhumane conditions, starved, and used as breeding stock, the Kentucky Six managed to make it off the property alive when the right people heard about their conditions and got the authorities involved. All six dogs were confiscated and brought to a shelter where they waited for the chance to find kind and loving families of their very own. Although shelter staff worked hard to make sure that all six dogs began getting the care and attention they deserved, they recognized that with shelters at capacity and adoptions limited, these six precious souls may not have the chance to find their forever families. They began working with local groups and started networking the dogs in hopes that rescue placement would be found. Fortunately, their message made its way to MAGSR. Our incredible team knew that this group of dogs was very special, so we began putting plans in place to welcome the Kentucky Six to the MAGSR family.
Although Champ's life was filled with challenges and suffering prior to his confiscation, he still wants to connect with his people. Very intelligent and appreciative of a calm and confident handler, Champ does well when given a chance to build trust with his people. Having been starved, Champ is still learning that regular meals and kindness are part of his daily routine. Although he needs a little time to adjust, Champ is already making significant strides. He is an incredible example of resilience in the wake of so much pain. As is true of all shepherds, Champ will thrive when provided with structure, routine, and leadership. In many ways he is still in the beginning stages of his new life. He will need time to adjust to new people, environments, and expectations. However, given patience and opportunities to learn, we are sure that Champ will continue to discover the joys of being a beloved member of a family. We do not know if Champ has had much experience living in a household. Clear rules and boundaries will help him settle into his new home. Training will also go a long way for this boy. Not only will training help Champ develop a strong, healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him become a good canine citizen. Champ is looking for a forever family that will cherish him for a lifetime and show him the kindness he missed out on for so many years. If he sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Champ today!
Updates:Champ is simply a big sweet boy. We have nick-named him Teddy because he wants to snuggle up on the couch with his people. While very hesitant when we first welcomed him to our home, just a few days later he has gained confidence and relaxed. He is housebroken but just starting to learn the basic obedience commands. He is fine with other dogs and loves chasing the ball in the backyard with our 5 year old bossy female GSD. And he is also very easy to walk on leash.
Murphy
ADOPTED 02/11/2024!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Marvelous Murphy was adored by his family. They made sure he had everything he needed. Although they loved him dearly, due to circumstances beyond their control, they were unable to continue to provide for this incredible boy. Recognizing that Murphy deserved an amazing forever family, they asked MAGSR to welcome Murphy to the family so that we could find the right match. We were honored by their request, and were happy to welcome Murphy to MAGSR.
Murphy is a social and intelligent guy. As is true of all shepherds he has some good energy and is most successful when he has daily exercise. He thrives when given structure, routine, and leadership. Having lived in a home since he was a young pup, Murphy understands many of the ins and out of living in a home. A snuggler at heart, Murphy is hoping his family also enjoys cuddles. He is housebroken, crate trained, and understands rules and boundaries. Although Murphy already knows a lot about living in a home, it will take him some time to adjust to his forever home. However, given patience and clear routines, we are sure he will adjust well. True to the breed, Murphy can be protective of his people, however, with consistent boundaries and expectations he does well. Continued training will go a long way with this guy. Murphy is looking for a forever family that will cherish him for a lifetime, could that be with you?
Sophie
ADOPTED 02/04/2024!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Stunning Sophie is a victim of cruelty and neglect. Fortunately, word got out about her situation and animal control confiscated her from her owners. Arriving at a shelter with a large wound on her back, hair missing in spots, limited fat and muscle on her body, and an overall poor body condition, shelter staff knew this girl needed a lot of support. They got right to work making sure she had what she needed and were impressed by how sweet and even tempered she appeared. Although staff members were doing everything they could to help Sophie heal, with an overwhelming number of dogs arriving at the shelter on a daily basis they knew she was living on borrowed time. As the days passed and no one stepped forward to welcome Sophie into their home, staff began to worry that Sophie wouldn't make it out alive. A plea for help went out. When we learned about Sophie's story, team MAGSR knew this lovely girl deserved the opportunity to find her forever family.
Sophie is intelligent, energetic, and ready to move forward. She craves leadership and direction. As is true of all young shepherds, Sophie will thrive when provided with structure and routine. Excited to learn, Sophie is already picking up some basic commands and is definitely motivated by treats. Due to her past, we do not know if Sophie understands the ins and outs of living in a household. However, we know she is beyond ready to enjoy the comforts and routines of a loving home. As she moves forward, Sophie will benefit from training. Not only will training help Sophie bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Sophie is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have easily been avoided with a monthly heartworm preventative. Sophie's treatment has just begun and, unsurprisingly, she is handling everything well. Although heartworm treatment is very expensive, we know that this special girl is more than worth the cost. MAGSR will cover the entirety of Sophie's heartworm treatment. Please consider donating to Sophie's care as it will not only help us provide the funding needed to support Sophie, but it will also help us continue to welcome dogs with medical needs. Sophie will need to take it slow over the next few months while she heals. However, this will give her time to adjust to her forever home. If this stunning girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Updates:Sophie has made incredible strides since first joining the MAGSR family. Medically, she looks like a new dog. Sophie has healed nicely, her fur is shiny, and she is now just the right size. Our team has worked hard to ensure that Sophie has had everything she needs to meet with success. As Sophie's medical needs have been addressed, our team has been giving her opportunities to learn about new people, experience new places, and develop her knowledge of the expectations needed to be a good canine citizen. To help her along her journey, Sophie was placed with one of our amazing foster families a few months ago. This family has been teaching Sophie the ins and outs of living with a family while also giving her the chance to participate in training. As an incredibly intelligent and outgoing girl, Sophie has shined in training. She has mastered her basic commands and hopes that her forever family will continue to support her learning. Having worked with one of our fabulous training Partners, Mason Dixon K9, Sophie and her family will have a lifetime of training support when she moves forward. Sophie has asked us to find her a family that will welcome her on their daily adventures and give her plenty of snuggles at night. We know the perfect family is right around the corner waiting for this lovely girl. If you are looking for a great balance of energy, intelligence, and companionship, look no further than Sophie.
