URGENT: Rosco Needs Your Help 
Last night, Rosco went from acting like his normal self to rapidly experiencing shortness of breath. His amazing fosters acted quickly and got him to the emergency vet, likely saving his life. Rosco had to be sedated and 500mL of fluid was removed from his chest, and 200mL of fluid was removed from his abdomen due to Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). Rosco is heartworm positive. It is likely that the worms and the strain of the treatment likely caused heart failure and fluid build up.
Rosco remains in critical condition as the vets try to remove more fluid. He is facing more nights in the hospital with 24/7 care and treatment. This emergency was unplanned and the bills are already rising into the thousands. The MAGSR family is doing whatever it takes to help him through this tough road now and what he faces ahead in his recovery.

Yesterday, sweet Rosco was rushed to the vet after his foster noticed sudden weight gain and signs of bloating. What we hoped was something minor turned out to be much more serious—Rosco was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. As Roscoe was clearly in extreme need, more advanced care was needed.
The urgent nature of Roscoe’s case required a transfer to an emergency vet with a cardiologist on staff. Once there, he had to be sedated so the medical team could remove 500mL of fluid from his abdomen and 200mL from his lungs—a result of the heart failure. Although not all the fluid could be removed, this procedure significantly eased his breathing, allowing him to breathe on his own again. Rosco is a heartworm positive boy who is currently undergoing treatment. He has a very high worm load and is in an advanced stage. While surgery isn’t required at this time to reduce the load, the stress of the heartworms—and the toll that treatment can take—has likely triggered the heart failure and fluid buildup.
At this time, Rosco remains in critical condition. He’s staying in the hospital under 24/7 emergency care as the staff works to stabilize him and remove the remaining fluid. This unplanned emergency has already pushed medical costs into the thousands. With continued care needed, this bill will continue to build.
