Marty
ADOPTED 07/26/2023!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Marty and his ten siblings (the Gilmore puppies) found themselves in an overcrowded shelter in the south. The number of dogs needing placement is simply overwhelming shelters across the country. Unfortunately, these babies, like so many other dogs, were in need of help fast. Recognizing that these babies deserved every opportunity to meet with success, staff at the shelter sent out personal rescue pleas attempting to keep this large family alive. When we heard that the Gilmore puppies needed placement, our incredible team began putting together plans to welcome all eleven babies into the rescue.
The Gilmore puppies are a social, playful, and interactive bunch. They have clearly had opportunities to socialize with people and other animals. However, this process has just begun. It is essential that their forever families continue to provide opportunities to socialize with people and animals in new and safe environments. This will help the Gilmore puppies develop stability and confidence as adult dogs. Training is also critical for these babies as it will not only help them create a healthy bond with their forever families, but it will also help them develop into good canine citizens. The Gilmore puppies have all settled into amazing foster families where they are learning the comforts and routines of living in a home. They are learning about toys, treats, and the joy of a good nap. As they move forward, the Gilmore puppies will be looking for loving forever homes that will continue to provide them with structure, routine, and leadership. Although these babies are cute as can be, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, and training, we are positive these babies will grow into incredible adult dogs. The Gilmore puppies will open for adoption on April 22nd. If Marty sounds like the right match for your household, get your application in today!
Lizzy
ADOPTED 07/17/2023!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lizzy came to us from a small rural shelter in Arkansas. Sweet Lizzy was given up to the shelter with her pack mate, and how sad it was for her to know her packmate got adopted and she was still there. Lizzy was on the list to be euthanized when MAGSR stepped in to save this beautiful low-rider. Lizzy lived with a foster down south and her foster stated she is the easiest foster she’s ever had. There isn’t a dog or person she doesn’t want to meet. She gracefully interacted with the resident indoor cats at her foster's home and enjoys playing ball.
Unfortunately, Lizzy is heartworm positive but has completed treatment and just has another month or so of restricted activities before she is cleared. This diagnosis could have easily been avoided had Lizzy been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Although treatment is very expensive, this active little girl is beyond worth the cost. Lizzy's entire heartworm treatment has been covered. Donations toward her care are greatly appreciated as this will help us not only help this lovely girl get all of the care that she needs, but it will also help us continue to support medical dogs in need. Lizzy will need to take it easy over the next month while she completes her treatment. However, this will give her time to adjust to her forever family. If Lizzy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Rex
ADOPTED 07/09/2023!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Put your Jurassic hats on for this next young fella, as he was out on an adventure that almost brought him to extinction! (T)Rex was found wandering the streets in search of the comforts of a dwelling he once knew, then, a kind soul out on safari (okay, maybe not a safari, but out and about) in the wilds of Georgia found this sweet, poor fella and brought him to the local shelter. Unfortunately, due to severe overcrowding, poor (T)Rex was set to become extinct. Luckily the hero Paleontology team with MAGSR (kidding, they don’t have anything to do with dinosaurs…yet) excavated him from Georgia in the absolute nick of time and brought him to safety.
We don’t know that much about (T)Rex yet, but as we’re learning more about his very friendly and playful demeanor, we know he was socialized with both humans and fellow dino-dogs! He sure does love the company of people and other dogs but needs to learn the proper ways of becoming a well-mannered GSD. As with all typical young GSDs, (T)Rex is in need of a fierce trainer to lead him through the jungles of life. He would thrive in a home where his family is either familiar with German Shepherds or is eager to learn about the temperament of the breed while providing the essentials - training, structure, boundaries, routines, and continued guidance.
(T)Rex would be a ‘DINO-mite’ addition to the family! He might need a little time to decompress and learn he is safe, and nowhere near extinction given all the movement and instability prior to arriving at MAGSR. If Rex sounds like the greatest adventure you’d like to em’BARK’ upon, please ask to add him to your family today!
Blue
ADOPTED 07/08/2023!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Our newest babies - Sam, Ellie, Carlton, Blue, and Eugene - were found too small and without a mommy. Babies really need to be with mom until at least eight weeks. This gives them a chance to access the nutrition, love, and social foundation needed to meet with success. As luck would have it, a dog in the area, Madison, was having a hysterical pregnancy and was ready to step in and help these babies in need. Madison did an incredible job fostering her babies and taught them everything she could before sending them on their way to their adoptive families. We will forever be grateful to Madison and her human mom for stepping in and making miracles happen.
All five babies have been well-loved and cared for. Over time, they have developed their own special personalities. Blue is a lover. He loves to play but calms down quickly when held or cuddled. He is a momma's boy and kept close to Madison. Similar to his brother, Eugene, the boys are just beginning to look a little different from one another.
Although Blue is a honey, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your world with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, and training, Blue will develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to become. If this sweet little boy sounds like the right match for your family. Ask to meet him today!
Harley
ADOPTED 07/05/2023!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Harley’s family had to make the ultimate sacrifice and look to rehome their beloved family member. Their home was destroyed by a tornado in the south. Desperate to keep her they tried living in the home in the parts that were safe but it just wasn't a good situation. As difficult as it was to say goodbye due to the long journey they faced ahead with getting back on their feet they felt they couldn't give Harley the life she deserved. When MAGSR got word of this story we were happy to welcome her to the safety of the rescue with the promise to care for her and ensure she lands in a perfect forever home.
Harley is a young energetic girl that is full of life, who would benefit from training. She will be missing her family kids and two small dogs she lived with. This beautiful girl is not a couch potato. She will need daily opportunities to exercise her body and her mind in order to maintain a stable and confident mindset. Harley is looking for an active forever family that will love her for a lifetime, could that family be you?
Geo
ADOPTED 06/30/2023!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Geo was picked up as a stray in a busy city in the south. When he arrived at a shelter, it was highly apparent that this big guy would need help to move forward. Although he was calm and patient with staff members, the state in which Geo arrived was simply heartbreaking. As the number of dogs arriving in shelters is at a constant state of crisis, dogs with needs like Geo are often first to be added to the list for euthanasia. Sadly, Geo was placed on this list without many options for survival. Staff members at the shelter and rescue groups around the area knew that Geo deserved a chance to move forward safely. So, a call for help went out to rescues up and down the coast. With some help from a few different people, we were able to put a plan together and welcome Geo to the MAGSR family.
Geo is definitely a special guy. Having arrived at the shelter in unimaginable pain, Geo has handled one situation after another like a gentleman. Emaciated, covered in scabies with a secondary skin infection, heartworm positive, dealing with infected toe nails, and partially to possibly completely deaf, Geo is going to need significant support as he moves forward. Fortunately, our team is on it. Currently living with one of our amazing vetting partners, Geo is getting all the time, attention, and medical support he needs. We have begun by running blood panels, checking his thyroid, taking x-rays, and starting medications. As the first pieces of Geo's medical care are moving forward, he will begin medicated baths and heartworm treatment soon. Geo's recovery will take time; however, we will stay by his side throughout his journey.
We are still getting to know Geo. However, so far he is known to be a pretty easy going guy which is impressive with the amount of suffering he has endured. Content to chill and take in his surroundings, Geo seems to need a little time to take in all of the changes around him. Currently, we are focused upon doing everything we can to ensure that Geo is content and comfortable. As his health improves, we hope to see more of his personality. We do know that Geo is good on leash and enjoys the company of his people. He loves gentle petting and settles in nicely with people that are calm and confident. Geo will be looking for a family that will cherish him throughout his golden years. Could that family be you?
Samantha
ADOPTED 06/29/2023!
Good With Kids: Likely
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sweet Samantha and her handsome brother, Niklaus, were part of a litter of babies that were lucky to be living in a loving home. Although their brothers and sisters found forever families of their own, these two babies were not as lucky. Recognizing that both pups would be most successfully placed in loving forever families if they were part of a breed specific rescue, their family decided to surrender them to MAGSR. We promised we would find both babies incredible forever families that would cherish them for a lifetime.
Samantha is active, intelligent, and adorable. This little lady has been well-socialized with people and other animals. However, it is imperative that her forever family continue this process in order to help Samantha develop into a stable and confident adult. Samantha is living with one of our incredible foster families. They are working with her as she learns the ins and outs of living in a home. As a smart girl, Samantha is already starting to pick up new routines and expectations. As Samantha moves forward, training will be essential to her success. Not only will training help Samantha develop a strong and healthy relationship with her family, but it will also help her become a good canine citizen.
Although Samantha is an absolute doll, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, routine, and training, Samantha will develop into an amazing dog. If this little lady sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!

Sawyer
ADOPTED 06/28/2023!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 12
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Handsome Sawyer was returned to the rescue when his family could no longer provide him with the time, attention, and care that they knew he deserved. Recognizing that Sawyer would thrive in a household that could meet the needs of a young shepherd, they returned him to our care. We promised that we would find Sawyer the perfect match so that he could move forward.
Sawyer is a stunning and intelligent guy. Young, playful, and energetic, he is looking for a family that will help him meet with success. Sawyer's family will need to provide him with daily exercise for both his mind and his body. This will help him burn some of his puppy-like energy as well as help him use his mind productively. As is true of all shepherds, Sawyer is looking for a forever family that will provide him with the structure, routine, and leadership that he needs to thrive. Training will go a long way with this boy. Not only will training help him develop a strong and healthy bond with his family, but it will also help him grow into a stable and confident adult. Having lived in a home, Sawyer already has an understanding of the expectations of living in a home. He is housebroken and crate trained. However, as is true of any new dog, he will need time to adjust to the rules and expectations of his forever family. Sawyer is looking for a forever family that will commit to him for a lifetime. If this amazing guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

All five babies have been well-loved and cared for. Over time, they have developed their own special personalities. Ellie was a momma's girl from day one. She adored Madison and cuddled with her until she left for her forever family. Ellie likes to get in the middle of everything and stir up the fun. It also seems that she has gotten those "puppy eyes" down pat when corrected for being too rowdy. Someone needs to know when to turn the charm on and off. Although Ellie is a hoot, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your world with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, and training, Ellie will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. If this social little girl sounds like the right match for your family.
