Theodore
ADOPTED 12/19/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Recently, the MAGSR family welcomed a small litter of cruelty and neglect survivors - the Chipmunks litter. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore were born into a home with limited resources. The boys did not receive the food, medical care, daily support, or environmental cleanliness necessary to ensure that they were healthy pups. Upon arrival, our team discovered that the boys were malnourished, riddled with worms, dirty, and sick. In addition, two of the boys had some additional medical needs that raised immediate concerns. Theodore arrived with a large, fluid filled lump on his head which was likely the result of trauma. Simon arrived with a dislocated back right leg that had been out of the socket for some time. Recognizing they needed immediate support, volunteers worked collaboratively to get their vetting addressed, begin a safe feeding schedule, and move all three pups forward. Unfortunately, just as we thought the litter was moving in the right direction, two of the boys popped positive with parvo. Knowing that immediate care was needed, the boys were rushed to the emergency room where they were hospitalized. Parvo is a highly contagious virus; it is particularly challenging for puppies with weak immune systems to survive. Keeping the boys hydrated, controlling their GI upset, preventing secondary infections, monitoring their bloodwork, and providing medications, one of our incredible vetting partners provided the boys with the critical care needed to fight. Parvo care is very expensive. But, we knew these babies deserved every chance to fight this diagnosis. Donations are appreciated as this will help us continue to support and welcome dogs with medical needs.
Although they have been through one obstacle after another, Theodore and his brothers - Simon and Alvin - have maintained sweet and solid personalities. They are playful, handsome, energetic boys. Having survived against the odds, these boys have turned a page and are ready to learn the joys of living in a loving home. Living with amazing foster families, the boys remain loving and affectionate with both their human and furry friends. With clear routines, expectations, and leadership in place, the boys are thriving. The MAGSR family has taught the boys the joys of a comfortable bed, the importance of exciting toys, the ins and outs of housebreaking, and the value of socializing with others.
Theodore is a social and affectionate guy. He is learning the ins and outs of living in a loving household and seems to be enjoying every minute of his new life. Typical of the breed, Theodore and his brother Alvin, love to be with their people. Theodore will make an amazing companion ensuring that his forever family always has a furry shadow following close behind them. As is typical with puppies, Theodore believes in the magic of endless playtime and toys. He understands just how much joy playtime brings to the entire family and hopes his forever family will indulge in daily activities with him. Training, play, and socialization will be critical to his success. This will help Theodore develop the skills needed to become a stable and confident adult.
Although the boys are as sweet as they can be, please remember that puppies are hard work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience and routine, we know Theodore will grow up to become a good canine citizen. If your household is ready to welcome this handsome little man into your home, please ask to meet him today!
Tank
ADOPTED 12/14/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Tank was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. Staff members immediately noticed that this big guy was social and friendly. So, they waited for his family to come and claim him, when no one stepped forward, Tank was placed on the adoption floor hoping to find a family of his very own. Although this handsome guy did well with visitors, he was never the chosen dog. With shelters significantly over capacity, shelter staff had no choice but to place Tank on the list for euthanasia. They knew this boy was special, but they didn't have an option to move him forward. Fortunately, another rescue was able to secure foster placement for Tank until a breed specific rescue could step forward. While they waited for placement options, the other rescue handled Tank's heartworm treatment and had his vetting updated. When they heard that MAGSR had a few openings, they asked us to welcome Tank into the family so that we could find him an amazing forever family.
Tank is clearly a very special guy. Well behaved, very intelligent, and a friendly guy, Tank is looking for that amazing family that will cherish him throughout his golden years. Having lived in an amazing foster home, Tank is housebroken and crate trained. He understands many of the ins and outs of living in a household and loves being with a family. However, as is true of any new furry family member, this big guy will need time, patience, and leadership in order to adjust to the routines and expectations of his forever family. A huge fan of his daily walks, Tank is hoping his forever family enjoys a good stroll on a daily basis. Although Tank enjoys daily opportunities for exercise and playtime, he also enjoys hang time with his people. Some extra cuddles in the evening are always appreciated. As is true of all GSDs, Tank is looking for a household with structure and routine. Training will go a long way with this guy. Not only will it allow him to create a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him become a good canine citizen. If handsome Tank sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Star
ADOPTED 12/14/2024!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Star and her sister, Noel, were born into a loving household. They lived there happily with another member of their family. Although the girls were cherished, when an unexpected circumstance arose, Star and Noel needed to be rehomed. This was a devastating decision for their family. Hoping they could find them a home on their own, they exhausted resource after resource trying to find an option for the girls. With a system overloaded with dogs and the need to find safe options for both girls, their family had almost given up hope. With one last try, they turned to MAGSR. Recognizing these girls were something special, our team came together to ensure that Star and Noel could move forward safely in the MAGSR family.
Star and Noel are stunning girls. Both a little unsure with new people and in new situations, they need a little time to adjust. When given time, patience, and a safe surrounding, the girls warm up to new people nicely. Having lived with an older child, the Star and Noel would likely do well with calm and respectful children. Star is the more energetic of the girls. She is always ready for a little play time and can often be caught bouncing around with a favorite toy. Star is looking for a household that will support her love for playtime and adventures. She wants to please and will be the "Star" at training. Training is critical to her success. Not only will training help Star develop a healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her build the confidence needed to become a good canine citizen. Having lived in a loving home, Star understands many of the ins and outs of living in a household. She is crate trained and housebroken. However, as is true of all GSDs, she will need time to adjust to the rules and expectations of her forever family. Star is looking for a forever family that will cherish her goofy spirit for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Star today!
Ellie
ADOPTED 12/07/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Over the winter our emergency line received a call from a shelter in California that one of our senior dogs had been surrendered without our knowledge. As is true of many rescues, our dogs are family and we do not leave them behind. We needed to get this dog back home to MAGSR so that she could move forward with a family that would cherish and protect her throughout her golden years. However, as California is not exactly in our backyard, we began reaching out to rescues near the shelter and were beyond lucky to find CalPaws K9 Rescue. Their incredible team worked with us to get our dog out of the shelter, vetted, and transported back home. We were beyond grateful for all of their support and told them that if help was needed in the future, we would do what we could to repay the favor. This past May, CalPaws asked us for a favor in return when they were faced with a critical situation requiring a fast response. A backyard breeder in their area had endured some significant medical issues and the decision was made that all of the dogs on the property needed to leave within the week. The breeder was housing a large number of dogs, primarily German Shepherds, ranging in age from puppies to six years old. It is estimated that there were at least 25 German Shepherds at the breeder's property, although as CalPaws began working with the property owner, it was thought that the actual number may be higher. With such a large number of dogs needing help, multiple rescues stepped forward to be part of the solution. We joined the effort to help and were able to welcome a couple of dogs to the safety of the MAGSR family.
Exuberant Ellie made the journey across the country in early June. This lovely lady had never placed a paw off of the property prior to her removal at the end of May. Although many precautions were put into place before anyone was moved, it was known that this change would be extremely stressful for every dog involved. Everything and everyone would be new to this girl. Ellie safely made her way across the country thanks to an amazing pair of transporters. Upon her arrival she was placed with one of our experienced foster families as we knew she would likely need a little extra support decompressing and adjusting to the world around her. Over the last few weeks, MAGSR has been supporting Ellie as she works through the decompression process. She, like all shepherds, thrives with structure, routine, and leadership. A set routine with clear and achievable guidelines has helped significantly throughout the decompression process. At this time, Ellie is housebroken and crate trained. She easily goes into the crate but will talk for a while when her people leave the household. Although things like stairs, doorways, and household appliances were a shock upon arrival, Ellie has adjusted very well. She now does stairs like a pro and comfortably walks through doorways. Well behaved in the car, Ellie is happy to hop in and go for a ride. She keeps everyone in the car nice and safe with a few warning barks if someone gets too close. An incredible fan of toys, Ellie loves to play ball, chew on bones, and toss around a stuffy. She still isn't quite sure how to "play" with her human companions, but she definitely is entertaining. This sweet girl is hoping that her forever family has plenty of dog toys ready for daily fun. Understandably anxious and unsure when in new places, meeting new people, and encountering other animals, Ellie can respond reactively to the unknown. We have found that a strong, healthy bond with an experienced handler helps Ellie meet with success. Repeated opportunities and clear expectations have been helpful as Ellie learns about the world around her. Her foster family has been working hard to socialize Ellie within the community. However, her forever family will need to continue to work with Ellie on a daily basis to develop these skills. Training will be critical to her success. Not only will training help Ellie develop a healthy and trusting relationship with her forever family, but it will also help her gain the skills needed to develop into a stable and confident dog. Ellie has been through many challenges over the last month or so. However, she keeps moving forward. Ellie is looking for a patient and structured forever family that will provide daily exercise, evening cuddles, and endless opportunities to grow. If Ellie sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today.
Updates:Ellie has been doing fantastic while in her foster home; she is a great house guest. As an all-around playful, snuggly, easy-going and happy girl, she loves people and is gentle with the kids that she's met. Having been through so much, Ellie can take some time to settle in with new stuff. That said, she has adjusted well to her foster home and is enjoying a comfy dog bed, lots of toys, and lots of love. Understandably, she is still a little uncertain about the unknown, which she is working on daily. Since her proper introduction to her foster brother, she has taken to him very well. They are now two peas in a pod; he's helping her come out of her shell and she's loving learning how to play. She is getting lots of exposure to this big world and learning that it is full of adventure! In addition to her plethora of toys, fun, and adventure, she's continuing to learn about expectations and boundaries. Although she received excellent training from our patrons at Mason Dixon K9, she loves practicing and building on it daily and being praised for her command work, especially if you have some treats! While she is not mischievous in any way, she does have typical GSD traits and does best having a calm and confident handler to be by her side as she navigates new experiences in her life.
Ellie is still doing great in her foster home, learning new things every day. This girl is sweet, snuggly, and loves to be with her people, and always has a plush stuffy toy in tow! While she remains gentle with adults and children, she is reactive to other dogs without a proper introduction. She can be a strong-willed girl, is most receptive to a strong and confident handler, and will take redirection from the handler well. She is working hard on her obedience and learning boundaries with her current fosters. She definitely loves to work for some high value treats! Continued training will be essential for Miss Ellie to build on her good canine citizen skills and to develop a healthy bond with her forever family.

Alvin is an intelligent and affectionate guy. He is learning new skills every day and will wow his forever family with his intellect. Typical of the breed, Alvin loves to be with his people. He will make an amazing companion ensuring that his people always have a shadow. True of all babies, Alvin is a big fan of toys. He is hoping his forever family is too. Daily play time and socialization will be critical to his success. This will help him develop the skill needed to become a stable and confident adult. Although the boys are as sweet as they can be, please remember that puppies are hard work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. Harmony
ADOPTED 12/01/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Harmony, like so many others, was picked up as a stray and brought to animal control. As an incredibly social girl, shelter staff were sure that she belonged to someone. They posted her far and wide. Then, they waited patiently for her family to come and claim her. Everyone was shocked when no one stepped forward for this incredible girl. Thinking she would be an amazing addition to a household, they placed her up for adoption. Unfortunately, with an overwhelming number of dogs looking for homes, Harmony was just one in hundreds from the shelter looking for placement. Although shelter staff absolutely adored Harmony, when no one stepped up to adopt her, she was placed on the list to be euthanized due to space. Knowing they needed to find placement for Harmony and fast, shelter staff began pleading with rescue groups to save this special girl. Fortunately, a team of rescuers, transporters, and a foster came together in the nick of time and MAGSR was able to welcome Harmony to the family.
Harmony is an active, intelligent, and affectionate girl. Someone along her journey clearly took the time to teach Harmony about the world around her. She adores people of all ages and has done well with other dogs. However, she, like many other GSDs, can be a little dominant when playing. Having been fortunate to have lived with a foster family, Harmony has already begun to learn the ins and outs of living in a home. It is highly evident that she thrives with routine, structure, patience, and leadership. As a young GSD, Harmony is looking for an active household that will provide her with daily exercise for both her body and her mind. She is a people pleaser and is always ready to try new things. Training will be critical to Harmony's success. Not only will training help Harmony create a close bond with her forever family, but it will also help her become a good canine citizen. Harmony has been waiting for a family that will cherish her for a lifetime. Could that family be you?
Bowden
ADOPTED 12/01/2024!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bowden is an impressive guy. Confident, intelligent, and charismatic, he has a fun personality and enjoys his people. Bowden's family absolutely adored him and did everything they could to ensure he met with success. They put time and energy into extensive training, daily interactions, and endless opportunities to learn about the world around him. As a result, Bowden understands the importance of a pack and the power of unconditional love. Although his family committed to Bowden when they adopted him, sometimes circumstances change and the best decision is to say goodbye. This choice is never easy; it is one of the most difficult decisions families make. However, when this decision was made, we promised that we would care for Bowden as his family had for the many years he lived with them.
Having lived in a home, Bowden understands many of the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken, crate trained, and obedience trained. Knowing many commands, Bowden likes to work and keep his mind busy. Although he clearly understands rules and expectations, Bowden, like many dogs, likes to push the envelope sometimes to ensure that the handler will follow through. As an alpha male, he does best with an experienced handler that will provide clear rules, boundaries, and expectations for both work and play. Responsive to the energy of the handler, Bowden prefers a calm and confident hand. Well versed with games such as tug and fetch, Bowden enjoys his playtime. A little less focused upon play than he was in his younger years, Bowden is happy to hang with his people once play time is finished. Senior dogs are special, they come with endless loyalty, the knowledge of expectations in the home, and the ability to take it slow some days. Bowden is looking for that magical match that will love him throughout his golden years. If this handsome guy is the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Lolly
ADOPTED 12/01/2024!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Lolly is a four year old, altered female looking for her forever home. She has amazing qualities despite her rough start found as a stray in the south with her sibling, surviving a parvo outbreak, being rescued down south and waiting patiently for another rescue to take her in. Once in MAGSRs care, she required having some of her front teeth removed as she had ground them down chewing on metal kennel cages. Lolly also has a slight hip issue but it is being managed well with some exercise activities, medication and supplements. Lolly gets along with other easy going dogs and is so sweet! Once she warms up she just loves to be with her humans for pets and snuggles. One look into her beautiful brown eyes and you can’t help but smile. She is crate trained, house broken and knows ins and outs of household living. Come and see this adorable girl!
Happy
ADOPTED 11/30/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Happy and her baby, Huck, were dumped at a small rural shelter. Although they were both shocked to be surrounded by so many stressed animals, it was highly apparent that this stunning pair had been socialized by someone along their journey. They are both friendly and affectionate. However, too skinny and very dirty, both dogs were in need of some good nutrition, a warm bath, and a safe place to move forward. With shelters and rescues sitting at or above capacity right now, the minute they arrived Happy and Huck were in danger. Shelter staff adored the pair, but due to space issues, they knew that a rescue placement was necessary to ensure that both moved forward safely. When a rescue plea went out, we knew that Happy and Huck deserved the safety and security of the MAGSR family.
Happy is a delightful little lady. Intelligent, snuggly, and your typical velcro dog. This girl loves being with her people and makes an incredible companion. Clearly socialized prior to her arrival, Happy loves her people but can be a little unsure until she knows you are safe. Good with children, Happy seems to understand the sounds and movements of littles. She is careful, affectionate, and watchful around them. Having lived with puppies, Happy has done well with other dogs. However, as is true of many dogs, she will set boundaries. Although we do not know much about her past, it is highly evident that Happy has been in a home. She understands many of the routines and expectations of living in a home. Happy is housebroken and crate trained. Typical of the breed, she thrives with structure, routine, and leadership. Training will go a long way with Happy. Very food motivated, this lady will quickly rise to the top of the class. Training will not only help Happy create a strong, healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Happy is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have easily been avoided with monthly preventatives. Recognizing that treatment is needed to move forward, MAGSR has already begun this process. Happy will need to take it easy over the next few months as her body clears the worms. Heartworm treatment is expensive, but we know Happy is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating to Happy's care so that she can continue to move forward with the medical care needed to meet with success. Happy is looking for a special forever family that will cherish her for a lifetime. If this adorable lady sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Theo
ADOPTED 11/29/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Theo has moved around quite a bit in his short life. This handsome little dude was initially picked up as a stray and brought to an animal shelter. Although he waited patiently for his family to arrive, no one stepped forward to claim him. Having clearly been socialized prior to his arrival, shelter staff believed that this little honey would easily find his way home. However, with shelter numbers significantly over capacity, Theo was running out of time and was placed on the list to be euthanized for space. Recognizing that Theo may not make it out alive, another group pulled him hoping to help him find his way home. Although this saved Theo's life, the group that pulled him had over-committed to too many animals and found themselves in a hoarding situation. Sometimes our desire to help is so great that we forget the amount of time and resources needed to adequately care for each life we are responsible for. This situation was not planned nor was it something that the other group intended to do. However, when this situation was discovered the dogs were confiscated. At risk of being placed right back at the shelter, another group stepped in to help redirect Theo into MAGSR's care.
Theo is a very friendly guy. He adores people and wants to be friends with absolutely everyone. Having lived on a property with a large pack of dogs, Theo has done well with other dogs but still enjoys proper introductions. An active guy, Theo is looking for a family that will take him with them on his adventures. He will benefit from daily exercise of both his body and his mind. This will help Theo maintain a stable personality. As is true of all shepherds, Theo will thrive with routine, structure, and leadership. Training is essential to his success. Not only will training help Theo build a strong, healthy relationship with his forever family, it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Theo is looking for a loving household that will commit to him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?
Onya
ADOPTED 11/26/2024!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Onya, previously known as Onion, was adopted by her mom a few years ago. They were an incredible team. With the help of her mom, Onya completed basic obedience, started scent work, and had the opportunity to develop more advanced skills. They brought endless joy into each other's lives with activities during the day and plenty of cuddles at night. It was beyond evident that these two were meant for each other. Everything was going according to plan and it seemed like they would bring joy to each other for many years. Unbeknownst to the pair, an unimaginable medical diagnosis was looming. Onya's mom received news of a terminal illness that would upend their perfect world. When she realized that Onya would need a safe place to land, Onya's mom contacted our team, shared her story with us, and asked for help. Our team did everything we could to bring comfort to this family and welcomed Onya back to MAGSR.
Onya is a stunning, intelligent, and impressive girl. However, her world has shifted dramatically with the loss of her mom. The grieving process is difficult and can shift personalities sometimes causing skills to go a bit backwards. Until she has fully settled, this sweet girl will likely be skittish and potentially a little over protective of her people. Stability and confidence building will definitely help. Fortunately, Onya is working through this process with the help of a loving foster family. When the right match steps forward, it is imperative that Onya is given time, patience, leadership, and structure in order to make one final adjustment. With routine and clear expectations, we know that this lovely lady will rise to the occasion. Although Onya is in the midst of the grieving process, she does know many of the ins and outs of living in a household. She is housebroken, crate trained, and understands general household routines. However, she will need time to adjust to the expectations of her forever family. Training will also help Onya adjust. Not only will training help Onya develop a strong and healthy bond with her family, but it will also help her continue to develop confidence. Onya is looking for a loving forever family that will provide her with endless adventures and daily snuggles. If this amazing girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Updates:Onya is an impressive girl. She is beautiful, intelligent, and active. Definitely a flight risk at first, it takes Onya some time to adjust to new people and environments. However, once she bonds, Onya creates a very strong connection to her handler. When managed effectively, Onya's trust in the handler helps her navigate the world safely and with confidence. If not handled correctly, she can become over protective of her chosen person. As a young dog, Onya has good energy. It is critical that she burns this energy so that she meets with success. Having participated in advanced training, Onya is very smart. She needs to exercise both her body and her mind every day. Over the last few weeks, Onya has made great strides while in our care. We are seeing her personality shine with our volunteers and she has begun showering her favorite handlers with smiles and affection. Moving forward, Onya is looking for a peaceful forever family that can provide her with the time, attention, and affection she deserves. If Onya is the right match for your family, ask to meet this lovely lady today!

Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Exceptional Elsa was absolutely adored by her family. They welcomed her to their home as a young pup and had hoped to spend a lifetime with her. Unfortunately, circumstances do not always work out as we plan. When it became clear that Elsa would need to be rehomed, her family searched for an incredible match for their girl. As they searched, it became clear that Elsa would be most successful if placed through a breed specific rescue. This would ensure that she would be placed in a safe, loving, and knowledgeable home where she would thrive. Saying goodbye is never an easy decision, but Elsa's family knew we would ensure she found the perfect forever family.
Elsa is a young, beautiful, and active girl. Quick witted and a good read of the handler, Elsa's intelligence is one of her many incredible qualities. Still very young, Elsa has boundless shepherd energy. It is key that her family work with her daily exercising both her body and her mind. She will also benefit from continued socialization with new people and in different environments. These activities are critical to her success as they will help her develop into a stable and confident adult dog. Food motivated and excited to learn, Elsa picks up new skills quickly and is ready to begin basic obedience. Our handlers have already begun working with her to develop leash manners and a few commands. As she moves forward, Elsa is looking forward to training with her forever family. Not only will training help Elsa create a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Elsa has had the good fortune to have grown up in a loving household. She understands the joys of dog beds, treats, and living in the home. She is already housebroken and crate trained! Although she has an incredible foundation, Elsa will need time and patience when adjusting to her new family. Clear rules, expectations, and boundaries will help her meet with success. Typical of the breed, Elsa can be protective of her home and her people. It is important that her forever family set her up for success with decompression time, structure, and leadership. Elsa loves a calm, confident leader. If this amazing girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Marlin
ADOPTED 11/23/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
The Nemo Litter was born under a trailer about ten weeks ago. Fortunately, they were noticed by community members and were monitored carefully. As their mom wasn't comfortable with people, steps were being taken to try to help the entire family, but moving forward required time and patience. Unfortunately, soon after the Nemo babies began crawling around, mom spooked, left, and didn’t return. Recognizing the nine babies in the Nemo litter (Coral, Bubbles, Crush, Dory, Marlin, Nemo, Nigel, Squirt, and Pearl) needed help, community members stepped up to ensure they were cared for and loved. As they got older, the rescue sponsoring them began looking for a breed specific rescue to welcome the Nemo litter and find them all amazing forever families. MAGSR stepped forward to welcome the entire litter into our care.
Our team was preparing to move the babies into foster homes when it was noticed that something was not right with several members of the litter. They had suddenly become weak, were struggling to keep food down, began experiencing gastrointestinal issues, and clearly needed help. Our team immediately rushed the babies to the emergency room. Tests were administered and it was determined that the Nemo litter was positive for parvo. Parvo is a highly contagious virus; it is particularly challenging for puppies to survive. One of our amazing vetting partners stepped into action and began working with the Nemo litter to keep them hydrated, control their GI upset, and prevent secondary infections, while also keeping them monitored and loved. Parvo care is very expensive. But, we knew these little lives were special and deserved every chance to fight this diagnosis. We have been incredibly lucky to have so many people step forward to support these babies. This has given us the opportunity to provide critical care; however, donations are still needed. Please consider donating to the Nemo litter so that we can continue to welcome dogs with medical needs.
Although MAGSR fought hard to save the lives of all nine puppies, two members of this litter, Bubbles and Pearl, lost their fight and crossed the rainbow bridge the weekend they arrived. Their siblings have mourned this loss while comforted by our amazing MAGSR volunteers. Although Pearl and Bubbles have left lasting memories that will always be part of this litter's story, the Nemo litter is taking significant steps so that they can continue to move forward. As they heal under the watchful eyes of their foster families, these babies are hoping that forever families are waiting in the wings for them. Once symptoms have ended and ten days have passed, the Nemo puppies will be ready to join their forever families. Marlin is waiting patiently for that special day when his family welcomes him into their home and gives him a last name. If your family is ready to welcome this handsome little guy into your home, ask to set up a meeting with Marlin today!

Having lived with an older child, the Star and Noel would likely do well with calm and respectful children.Noel can be submissive but is filled to the brim with sweetness. Once comfortable, Noel breaks out of her shell and simply shines with joy. An absolute cuddler at heart, this lovely lady is beyond happy to share her joy with her people. She is always up for a little extra love and a good butt scratch. Training is critical to Noel's success. Not only will training help Noel develop a healthy bond with her forever family, it will also help her build the confidence needed to become a good canine citizen. Having lived in a loving home, Noel understands many of the ins and outs of living in a household. She, like her sister, is crate trained and housebroken. However, as is true of all GSDs, she will need time to adjust to the rules and expectations of her forever family. Noel is looking for a forever family that will embrace her loving spirit for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Noel today!

Handsome Venvi was picked up as a stray. When brought to animal services, it was clear that he had been through some trauma. Non-weight bearing on one of his legs, too skinny, and needing a little extra TLC, shelter staff began working together to ensure that Venvi was safe and comfortable. They began working with a local vet who assessed Venvi's injury. It was determined that Venvi had a soft tissue injury that would heal with time, pain medication, and rest. With his medical needs being addressed, Venvi waited patiently for his family to come and claim him. Staff members were shocked when no one stepped forward. As shelters remain at critical capacity, once stray holds have been completed, many animals are placed on lists to be euthanized as there are simply not enough spaces for the number of dogs in need. Venvi, like so many others, was placed on this list. Fortunately, an incredible group of people began advocating for this guy. When word reached MAGSR, he had just hours left. With the help of an incredible foster, amazing transporters, and another rescue, we were able to welcome Venvi to the MAGSR family.
Venvi is a social, affectionate, and energetic guy. This big goofball is all about filling his days with joy. Having recovered from his injury, he is ready to live life to the fullest. Venvi is looking for an active family that will exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. This will help him maintain a balanced and stable personality. Training will be critical to Venvi's success. Not only will it help him create a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the essential skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Venvi, like all dogs, will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. He is lucky to have an amazing foster family that is teaching him the ins and outs of living in a household. Although Venvi is learning about living in a home, he will need time to adjust to the expectations and routines of his forever family. Venvi cannot wait to finally settle down with a family of his very own. If this happy guy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today.
Esme
ADOPTED 11/18/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Many things get better with age-cheese, wine, cowboy boots and Esme! She’s not going to hike the Appalachian Trail with you, but she would love to go for a walk in the morning and then come back and sit by your side while you have a second cup of coffee. Or if walking is not your thing, Esme is happy to take a spin around the backyard then keep you company for the day. With those big, beautiful ears, Esme is a great listener and will even give you a head tilt or two if your conversations with her involve a treat. An amazing companion, Esme is looking for a family that enjoys a good cuddle and an easy-going lifestyle.
Found as a stray in the area, Esme was taken to the local shelter where she waited for her family to come and claim her. Although this girl impressed shelter staff with her friendly demeanor, when no one stepped forward to claim her, everyone got a little worried. Like so many shelters these days, the shelter that welcomed Esme into their care was over capacity. Although they try to do everything they can to find placements in adoptive and foster homes, or in rescues, senior dogs at a crowded shelter are always at risk. Fortunately, a plea was put out to rescues in the area, with an incredible foster ready to open her home to Esme, MAGSR happily welcomed her to the family. Fosters make such a difference in our ability to save lives. We are so excited that Esme is in a safe and loving home.
At this time, Esme is settling into her foster family. She has done well with the resident dogs and is curious about the cat. As is true of all dogs, Esme craves structure, routine, and leadership. She may not need to spend her days chasing a ball for hours, but she does enjoy some play time, plenty of snuggles, and a good nap. Adjusting well to the household, it seems that Esme already knows many of the ins and outs of living indoors. Although she is making significant strides, her forever family will need to be patient as she makes one final adjustment to the routines and expectations of her forever family. True of all dogs, Esme will thrive with training. Not only will training help Esme create a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Esme is looking for an amazing family that will cherish her throughout her golden years. If you are looking for a great companion, look no further than Esme.
Updates:Esme has been greatly enjoying the comforts of living in a foster home over the last few weeks. She is the perfect houseguest and has integrated well into her foster family. With daily opportunities to socialize and cuddle, Esme seems beyond happy to be out of a shelter in an experienced home. As Esme has settled into her foster home, our team has been working to address some medical concerns that were noticed upon arrival. Struggling with what appeared to be pain in her backend and some difficulty with movement in her back legs, we began working with one of our incredible vetting partners to address Esme's needs. Unfortunately, as we dug into possible causes, it was discovered that Esme has severe hip arthritis, is experiencing ataxia in her back legs, and may also be showing signs of degenerative myopathy (DM). In order to address these needs, we immediately began Esme on supplements and medication to help relieve some of the pain she is experiencing from the arthritis. Her foster family has also adjusted Esme's environment to provide her with spaces where stairs and items that may cause trips or falls are removed. This piece is critical as the ataxia in Esme's legs has caused weakness, lack of sensation, and difficulty with leg/paw placement. Although we know that Esme may not have as many years left as we had hoped, we do know that she is safe, comfortable, and loved. Please consider donating to Esme's care. Your donation will not only help Esme continue to get the support she needs to remain comfortable and happy, but it will also help MAGSR support other medical dogs in need. Esme is still hoping to find a special home that will cherish her forever. If your family is looking for a sweetheart who would fill your days with joy and gentle kisses, please ask to meet this lovely lady today.

Once symptoms have ended and ten days have passed, the Nemo puppies will be ready to join their forever families. Coral is waiting patiently for that special day when her family welcomes her into their home and gives her a last name. If your family is ready to welcome this special little girl into your home, ask to set up a meeting with Coral today!
Updates:Coral and Crush are little angels and are doing great together in their foster home. They have lots of energy and will wipe themselves out and then take a nice nap. They both adore their human foster brother, who makes sure that there's always plenty of playtime. Both Coral and Crush are very sweet; often described as 'the ultimate snuggle bunnies' -- capable of being calm at times, they both love to sit in laps and just relax. With two other foster siblings (that actually have fur and four legs), the two pups never get scared despite their small size comparatively. They all mix and match their cuddle sessions now; you'll never know which of the four will be paired with the others! The real question is: do you want to be who Coral or Crush cuddles next? If so, make sure to apply to adopt now!

Misty and her buddy, Rocky, were adopted from MAGSR a few years ago by an amazing family. They were cherished beyond words and have known the power of love. Sometimes life throws a curveball and things change in an instant. When an unexpected circumstance arose, their family knew that Rocky and Misty needed a safe place to land. So, they contacted MAGSR. Knowing these dogs were lucky to have an incredible family that would do anything for them including giving them up, we immediately welcomed both Misty and Rocky back to the MAGSR family.
Misty is a sweet, sensitive, smart girl. Social, active, and always ready for an adventure, this girl lives for daily playtime and activities. Built to play, she is beyond happy to chase after a ball or leap in the air to catch a frisbee. An intelligent lady, Misty tends to match her energy to the energy of the handler. She thrives with a calm and confident handler who provides clear direction. Somewhat unsure in new situations, Misty does need some time to adjust to new people. However, as is true with many dogs, when given a chance to warm-up, Misty is friendly and responsive. Having lived in a phenomenal home, Misty understands the joy of a soft bed, daily playtime, and plenty of toys. Crate trained, housebroken, and comfortable with the hustle and bustle of daily household living, this lovely lady understands the expectations of living in a home. However, as is true of any new dog, Misty will need time and patience to successfully adjust to the expectations, rules, and routines of her new family. With some training already in line, Misty knows several commands. She enjoys daily adventures and hopes her new family does too. Although she has some training already, Misty will benefit from additional training with her new family. Not only will training help Misty build a strong and healthy bond with her family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Stunning Misty is looking for a forever family that loves to throw a ball, toss a frisbee, and provide daily cuddles. If your family is looking for a girl with endless loyalty and fun, look no further than Misty!

Diesel and his buddy, Vader, were adored by their family. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected circumstance, their family was not able to continue to keep the boys and had no choice but to rehome them. Saying goodbye is never an easy decision. We knew this was not in the plans for the boys. However, sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. Knowing that Vader and Diesel were incredible boys that deserved to find loving forever families, their family turned to MAGSR for help. We knew Vader and Diesel had been raised by an incredible family that wanted to ensure that they would be safe and loved. We promised to find both boys amazing forever families that would love them for a lifetime.
Diesel is an absolute sweetheart. As an intelligent, stable, and active guy, he is looking for a forever family that will provide him with daily opportunities to exercise both his body and his mind. Having lived with the same family his entire life, Diesel has had the opportunity to develop a strong foundation of social skills. He enjoys handshakes and will, if allowed, give hugs. With some significant changes in his life recently, Diesel has maintained his confident nature. However, it is critical that his forever family provides him with structure, routine, and leadership so that he adjusts appropriately to his forever family. Household expectations are not new to Diesel. He is already housebroken and crate trained. However, as is true of any new dog, he will need time to adjust to the routines and expectations of his new home. Training will be critical to his success. Not only will training help Diesel create a healthy bond with his family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Diesel is hoping to find a forever family that will provide him with adventures, plenty of neck rubs, and endless opportunities to meet with success. If Diesel sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!
Abu

Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Amazing Andora and her "A Litter" puppies (Annette, Aime, and Abu) were dumped at a crowded shelter. With limited resources and overwhelming numbers, the shelter could not provide for this family. Although they did everything they could to help all members of the family move forward, shelter staff knew that without rescue help, this family would likely be euthanized as spaces are simply not available. Fortunately, rescue groups began working together to help the entire family move forward safely. When asked if we could provide a safe place to land, we were lucky to be able to team up with another local group in order to ensure that all members of the family moved forward safely.
Andora and her babies are friendly, interactive, and beyond lovable. Abu is a little ball of joyful puppy energy. Interactive, curious, and ready for an adventure, Abu can't wait to explore everything in his environment. A toy aficionado, Abu, like his sisters, loves all things, rolly, squeaky, and crunchy. He is hoping his forever family has plenty of toys to keep him occupied for hours. Living in a foster home with other dogs and having already been exposed to cats, Abu is lucky to be gaining experiences with a variety of other creatures. As the little guy moves forward it is critical that his forever family continues to provide Abu with opportunities to socialize with new people, other animals, and in new environments. This will help Abu develop into a stable and confident adult dog. Although Abu is a charmer, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience, and socialization, we are sure that Abu will develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to be. If Abu sounds like the right match for your family, put in your application today! The "A Litter" puppies will be available for adoption as of May 1st.
Updates:Abu was adopted as a puppy into an incredible family that adored him. They recognized early on that Abu was showing prey drive, toy drive, and needed additional social support in controlled settings. Recognizing that training would be key to his success, they found a trainer that understood working breeds and began building a foundation for success. Although they took all of the right steps, Abu proved to be a little too much for their household. Knowing that a better match was out there for Abu, his family surrendered him back to MAGSR so that we could help him find that perfect family. We know this was an incredibly difficult decision. However, they did what they knew was best for their sweet boy.
Abu is an active, affectionate, and agile pup. Ready to take on the world, this boy has endless energy and drive. He must be placed with an active family that will exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. Abu loves trying new things particularly when food or praise is involved. In many ways he can be a firecracker with a strong will to please. With a strong and spirited personality, Abu can be very reactive with new creatures and in new environments. As Abu was building a foundation with a trainer prior to his return, our team decided that he would be most successful if we continued to build that foundation for success. As a result, he has been placed with one of our incredible training partners to continue this process. Over the last few weeks, Abu has been building a solid foundation for doggy manners. It is believed that his reactivity is largely fear-based. As a result, training and confidence building will be key to his success. Abu does very well with a good balance of work and play. He is developing key skills while also enjoying daily farm walks and plenty of playtime. Having lived in a home, Abu is crate trained and house broken. He loves adventures and is very well behaved when in the car. Abu will continue to work with one of our trainers to further solidify his foundational skills over the next few weeks. When ready, Abu will be looking for a family that will provide him with the structure, routine, and daily opportunities to meet with success. If this handsome little "pocket rocket" is the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!

Rahja was absolutely adored by her family, particularly the little boy in her life. Unfortunately, when circumstances changed in the household, her family was forced to make the difficult decision to find Rahja a new home. This is never an easy decision. However, sometimes loving your dog means knowing when to ask for help. Our team knew that Rahja was special the moment they met her. We knew that saying goodbye was very difficult for her family and promised to find her an incredible forever family.
Rahja is a stunning, intelligent, and social girl. She is responsive to the handler and has some basic commands already in place. A shepherd in every way, Rahja is focused, observant, and quick to pick-up on varied handling styles. As is true of many shepherds, she is eager to please. Thriving with leadership and clear expectations, Rahja gravitates toward a calm and confident handler. With some clear prey drive in place, this girl is looking for a forever family without cats or small pets. This will help her meet with success. Somewhat anxious in new situations or with new people, Rahja is looking for a household that will provide her with the time and patience needed to adjust to her new home. Although she already knows some commands, Rahja is looking forward to attending training with her forever family. Not only will training help Rahja develop a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her gain the confidence needed to become a good canine citizen. Having previously lived in a home, Rahja is crate trained and housebroken. She understands many of the ins and outs of family living. However, as is true of all new dogs, Rahja will need time to learn the rules, routines, and expectations of her forever family.
Rahja is looking for an active family that will take her on their adventures, give her plenty of play time, and snuggle up for cuddles every day. If you are looking for an intelligent, playful, and affectionate girl, look no further than Rahja.

Sweet Marmaduke is a little fighter. Having wandered up to a home with his brother the puppies were sick, filled with worms, underfed, dirty, and in need of help. Luckily the boys wandered up to the right home as the owners immediately contacted their local animal services so they could work together to get the boys everything they needed. Although appointments were put into place and rescuers were contacted for help, Marmaduke's brother passed away during the night on their second night. Recognizing that the boys were sicker than anyone realized, Marmaduke was rushed to the vet. Although everyone was hoping their worst fears were not true, unfortunately, Marmaduke popped positive for parvovirus. This disease is preventable with proper vaccinations. However, once it sets in it can take many lives. Having lost his brother and weak from everything the two had endured, we were not sure if Marmaduke would have the strength to fight. However, we also knew this little guy deserved every chance make a full recovery. So, MAGSR began working with the local shelter, a local foster, and an incredible veterinary team to ensure that Marmaduke was provided with everything he needed. As is true of many dogs suffering from parvo, Marmaduke did need to be admitted for round-the-clock care.
Fortunately, our little fighter clearly wants to survive and has done well with the support provided. He has been released from the hospital and one of our amazing foster families has welcomed him into their home. Although this is a huge step, Marmaduke is still being monitored very closely and is receiving daily medical support. We are hoping that he continues to rest and recover so that when he is ready, this sweet and affectionate guy will find a forever family that will cherish him for a lifetime. As is true of all parvo puppies, Marmaduke's care is expensive. However, MAGSR knows that he is worth every penny. Please consider donating to Marmaduke's medical needs. Not only will this help us continue to meet his needs, but it will also help us continue to welcome dogs who would not have survived without extensive medical intervention.
Marmaduke is a special guy who has already survived more than he should have at such a young age. Our entire team is hoping he keeps fighting so that, when he is ready, he can live out his life with an incredible forever family.

'Dashing Deacon’ was found prancing along the streets as a stray. This devilishly handsome (possible SuperModel status) fella is under a year old, happy-go-lucky stunner who happens to be a long-haired black and red GSD looking for his ‘fur-ever’ family. As we get to know ‘Dashing Deacon’, we do know he is good with other dogs, absolutely full of life, happy to meet people, but he’s unaware of his size and surroundings, which could be overwhelming. Aside from his sweet personality, we’re learning if he is good with kids and cats. Because he’s considered a puppy, he will need to have training in order to learn and fully understand boundaries, proper behavior and will need the basic necessities of a growing puppy provided - training, structure, boundaries, routines, and continued guidance.
If ‘Dashing Deacon’ sounds like the wonderful moments you would like to emBARK upon, please ask to add him to your family today!
Rayne
ADOPTED 10/27/2024!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Regal Rayne clearly once lived in a home with a loving family and was a beloved pet. However, his life changed drastically when he landed himself in a shelter for reasons unknown. Rayne was lucky to be pulled by a wonderful all-breed rescue and spent the last year with them searching for a family and sadly they just didn't find a good match for this special GSD. The all-breed rescue decided to reach out to MAGSR, a breed specific rescue, in hopes we could offer him a better shot of landing a home with a family of his very own.
Rayne recently joined the MAGSR family and has begun his search for a forever family. As is true of all GSDs, Rayne is looking for a home that will provide him with structure, routine and consistency. This will help him decompress and build a strong and stable relationship with his forever family. Rayne will benefit from continued socialization in a structured manner along with a family that will keep up with the training program he has been through with one of MAGSR's training partners. As with any typical German Shepherd, Rayne will be a loyal protector and take his job very seriously. Rayne would do best with a family that has breed experience and needs to be the one and only pet in the home. He prefers to be the apple of his family's eye.
Rayne is cuddly and sweet and would be an amazing companion. He loves to cuddle in with his people and would love to share that pizza crust with you. If you would love to spend your time with a regal guy that is seasoned and just gets better with age and wouldn't mind sharing some pizza crust, reach out to MAGSR today.

Squirt is waiting patiently for that special day when his family welcomes him into their home and gives him a last name. If your family is ready to welcome this cuddly little guy into your home, ask to set up a meeting with Squirt today!

Casper
ADOPTED 10/19/2024!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Happy-go-lucky Casper was picked up as a stray in a very busy city in the south. Brought to a shelter that is significantly over capacity with a daily intake of 30 to 40 dogs a day, little Casper's time was very limited. Although staff members adored this little guy, as soon as his stray hold was lifted, Casper was placed on the list to be euthanized. With such an overwhelming number of dogs arriving daily, it seemed that Casper may not make it out alive. Luckily, the right people learned about Casper's situation and began mobilizing to help him move forward safely. With MAGSR as his final destination, Casper began moving forward.
Casper represents his name rather well. A friendly, goofy, playful little guy, this boy is filled with happiness. Having moved about a bit over the last month, this guy has done very well with the transitions. However, he is hoping to settle down with a forever family soon. Still a baby in many ways, Casper is in the process of learning the ins and outs of becoming a good canine citizen. He is beginning to learn basic leash manners and expectations. Training will go a long way with this little honey. Not only will training help Casper bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Without any information about his past, we do not know if Casper has had any experience in a home. When staying with one of our incredible foster families, we learned that Casper definitely enjoys living in a home and quickly discovers that the treat cabinet is the most important cabinet in the house. He is already adjusting well when provided with structure, routine, and leadership. Eager to learn and ready for an adventure, Casper is looking for an active family that will teach him the joys of living with a loving family. If this sweetheart sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet Casper today!
Updates:Casper is the life of the party! He is good with cats and dogs, and he doesn't even bark when they're at the fence line! He was given the opportunity to flex his social muscles recently at a trip to the University of Maryland; it was an absolute delight for him and everyone that he met. Always ready for a butt rub, he enjoyed meeting the students, all of whom were eager snugglers. While he's a bit nervous when meeting toddlers, he's never shown aggression and meets young and old alike with gentleness and curiosity. As a fun-loving and goofy boy, he is always up for any adventure and enjoys riding in the car. He doesn't have much food drive, but he responds very well to praise. In addition to his winning personality, he's learning good house manners and how to walk nicely on a leash. He's excelling as he has not had any accidents so far, even being left outside his crate all day long; he seems to enjoy learning if it means pleasing his foster parents! We're sure that Casper will make a terrific family dog. If you think so too, ask to meet him today!
Casper was invited to his foster family's reunion weekend and he discovered he loves humans of all sizes and ages, other dogs that he can play with, his foster's resident cat, and snuggles! Very relaxed and friendly, he does well in public spaces and city life does not seem to stress him out at all. Although only having been with his foster family for a short time, he has learned to walk well on a leash and is even excellent when walking next to a baby stroller. He's had success with a nice loose leash and prong collar and while on a waist belt around a busy and loud playground. While he is amazing with people, he does tend to want to walk in front when walking with another dog so he's working hard to correct that. Even though Casper is well-behaved and a sweetheart, his foster family is still taking him to training so that he can work on learning some focus, keeping appropriate personal space with other dogs, and maintaining his discipline. He's improving every single day and is already a very good boy. Doesn't he seem like one you want to adopt? He thinks so!
Huck

Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Huck and his mommy, Happy, were dumped at a small rural shelter. With shelters and rescues sitting at or above capacity right now, the minute they arrived Huck and Happy were in danger. Shelter staff adored the pair, but due to space issues, they knew that a rescue placement was necessary to ensure that both moved forward safely. When a rescue plea went out, we knew the Huck and Happy deserved the safety and security of the MAGSR family.
Huck is a happy, playful, and intelligent guy. A huge fan of people, toys, and other animals. This little sweetheart is beyond ready to take on the world. As a social butterfly, Huck wants to be part of every interaction. With those soft eyes and a great lean in, it is impossible to exclude him. Clearly an intelligent guy, Huck is meeting with incredible success when crate training and housebreaking. He has yet to have any accidents in the crate and takes care of most of his business outside. Curious about the world around him, Huck can't wait to try everything. He is beyond happy to garner attention from his people and very treat motivated; we are sure Huck is going to be a star in training. Training is critical to Huck's success. Not only will training help him build a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help Huck develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Although Huck is beyond adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, training, continued socialization, and patience, we know Huck will grow-up to be an incredible adult dog. Huck will be available for adoption as of October 19th. If this handsome little ball of joy sounds like a good match for your family, set up an appointment to meet him today!
Storm

Handsome Storm lived in a home. However, due to an issue with the landlord, he was surrendered to a local shelter. Although shepherds typically struggle in shelters, Storm is special as he remained friendly and affectionate with staff. Recognizing that Storm deserved every chance to find a loving forever family, staff began searching for a shepherd rescue that would help this boy on his journey. Working with us to find the right circumstances to welcome Storm, the shelter staff provided this guy with the safety and security needed to move forward.
Storm is a friendly and playful guy. He has handled all of the changes in his life like a champ. However, it is important that Storm's forever family recognize that he has been through a lot and will need time to adjust to his forever home. Having moved into an incredible foster home, Storm has been enjoying the comforts of a soft bed and calm environment. He has quickly charmed his foster family. As Storm continues to move forward, he will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. This is typical of all GSDs. Training will go a long way with this boy. Not only will training help Storm develop a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen.
While at the shelter, staff noticed some concerns with Storms hips. They took the important steps of getting him to a vet who began running tests and x-rays. It was discovered that Storm has severe hip dysplasia. At this time his right hip is of greatest concern. However, an injury to his cruciate ligament was also found within Storm's right knee. By the time he was seen, he had already lost a lot of muscle around his hips and legs. Storm has begun to receive the care he needs to move forward. He is being monitored by our incredible vetting team while we rebuild muscle. He will also begin working with an orthopedic specialist in order to determine next steps for an orthopedic repair. Storm's care will be very expensive; however, we know he is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to his medical needs. Your donation will not only help us continue to move Storm forward, but it will also help us continue to support medical dogs in need. Storm will be taking it slow over the next few months while we help him heal. Please continue to watch for updates on his care.
Updates:Another late night update on Mr. Storm. He continues to do well for us. He is getting bored in his cage so today we started playing him some doggie television and he seems to enjoy this. I was able to sit with him a few times today while doing some paperwork - he is very much a lovebug and will try to curl up in your lap. He gives lots of kisses if you allow it. He got some new treats and bones today and we have also been making him some frozen stuffed kongs to keep him occupied. We are trying to work on cleaning his ears - he does not enjoy this but we will get there little by little.
Storm continues to do well and is very much loved by his caregivers. There has been indications of interest of adopting him, and it helped that Ryan and Sandy threw in a board and train for his adopters and Storm. Here's the link to his latest pics and videos. I love the concern he has for blue noodle number 3.
Storm has been upgraded once again and now has claimed one of our small treatment rooms as his new hotel room. He enjoys looking out the window and gets less worked up by neighboring dogs. He still is working on getting stronger - he can't hold his three legged stands very long but does well with the step overs and backing. He is doing well on his walks and starting with hill work. He really enjoys his time outside. He has a squeaker tennis ball in rehab that is his favorite toy!
After being in a foster home for over a month, we can say that Storm is just a wonderful dog. Storm is all play, all day, but is a great lounge dog at night. He gets along well with other dogs; if he got the chance to live with another playful dog, it would be a dream come true for him. As a true velcro dog, he needs to be where the action is and likes to stick close to his people. If you're sitting still, he will sit on your feet. He does best in a crate when left home alone but is always out otherwise and well-behaved. He's all goofy love and has a HUGE personality.

Tasha was adopted a few years ago to an incredible family that adored her. Although they hoped Tasha would remain with them forever, when unexpected circumstances arose, her family had to make the difficult decision to return her to the MAGSR family. This decision is never made lightly. However, sometimes we all need a little help. Fortunately, MAGSR was more than willing and able to welcome Tasha back so that she could move forward with a new family who would cherish her for a lifetime.
Tasha is a well socialized lady. She loves people, is affectionate, and is your typical velcro dog. Clearly a very intelligent girl, Tasha is an expert when reading the handler. She responds best to a calm, confident, and clear handler. Best placed with an experienced GSD household, Tasha is looking for a family that will provide the structure, routine, and leadership that all dogs crave. Having moved around a few times in her life, Tasha can be anxious in new situations. She is not a huge fan of loud sounds, such as thunder or fireworks. However, with a responsive handler, Tasha meets with success. As Tasha moves forward, she is hoping to find a family that will exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. This will help her maintain a calm and stable mindset. Training is also critical for Tasha. Not only will training help Tasha build a strong, healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her further hone her skills. With some basic training already in place, Tasha cannot wait to continue learning with her new family. This amazing girl is looking for that special family who will provide her with the comforts of a loving home, opportunities to meet with success, and plenty of love. If Tasha sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!

Buddy
ADOPTED 10/12/2024!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Beautiful Buddy joined the MAGSR family as an owner-surrender with two of his litter mates - Buster and Cooper. Although his previous family loved him, they were overwhelmed by the number of dogs in their care and decided that it was in the boys' best interest to find rescue placement. So, they made the decision to surrender the pups to MAGSR. We know this was a very difficult decision, but we also know that their family wanted these boys to have endless love, attention, and opportunities. We promised Buddy's family that we would find him an incredible forever family that would cherish him for a lifetime.
Buddy is a playful, energetic, and all around incredible guy. Living with a foster family, Buddy has had the joy of living in an incredible home where he is benefiting from personalized love and attention twenty-four hours a day. His foster family often compares sweet Buddy to an onion. Every day he opens up a new layer and reveals more of his phenomenal personality. Although it is clear this guy is special, Buddy can be a little weary of new people and places; however, when given a chance to warm up, he is eager to please and bonds quickly to his people. As a silly guy, Buddy even gets the puppy wiggles when his favorite people say hi. As is true of his brothers, Buddy is crate trained and understands that the crate is a safe space. He has also learned some of the rules of living in a home. However, as is true of all new dogs, Buddy will need time to learn the specific ins and outs of his forever family. Buddy, like all shepherds, will thrive in an environment that has structure, routine, and leadership. Food motivated and a huge fan of praise, Buddy will be the star pupil at training. Training and continued socialization are critical to Buddy's success. Socialization is important as it will provide Buddy with the confidence to navigate his environment. Training is essential as it will help Buddy create a strong and healthy relationship with his forever family. Buddy is hoping to find a forever family that loves outside adventures, daily playtime, and endless cuddles. If Buddy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Updates:Buddy has now been with us for three weeks. What a joy this has been. He has fit in very well and has learned lots of new things. His obedience training is going well and he has learned sit, stay, wait, paw, come, leash on and leash off. He is very active but settles down well at night time. No crate. However, he will go in his crate if you ask him to and is quiet. If you want a German Shepherd, like the ones on photographic pictures, he doesn’t fit that description. If you want a dog that loves you, is loyal, and just adores being with his people, he’ fit right in. He isn’t perfect, he’s just a puppy. He just loves to be loved and return it many times over. He greets strangers well and gets along with other dogs. He does still need to be supervised with cats but is making progress.
Cadi & Ryker
ADOPTED 10/07/2024!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Ryker and Cadi were the apple of their daddy's eye. He adored both dogs and ensured that they had everything they needed to meet with success. Living in a home filled with love, this special pair had endless joy, playtime, and cuddles. All was right in their world until Ryker and Cadi's daddy received a serious medical diagnosis. Rather than take any chances, Ryker and Cadi's dad and his family took steps to ensure that both dogs would be well loved and cared for if this diagnosis proved fatal. Although their daddy fought hard, Ryker and Cadi had to say goodbye to their daddy much sooner than anyone thought possible. The grieving process is just as confusing and painful for animals as it is for humans. Helping each other through this process, Ryker and Cadi have been learning to adjust as a unit with the help of an incredible foster family supporting them on this difficult journey. With their daddy, Tod, as their guardian angel, we know this pair will continue to move forward and will find a new home that will love them in their daddy's absence.
Typical of a bonded pair, Ryker and Cadi bring their own unique strengths and personalities to their relationship. Ryker, the male, is intelligent and playful. He relies heavily on Cadi, the female, for safety and confidence. She helps Ryker maintain stability and try new things that may seem a little intimidating without Cadi at his side. Known for needing a little time to trust before he is ready for snuggles, Ryker hopes his next family understands that with a little patience he will bloom. Cadi is the fun of the party. Happy to share her joyful activities with Ryker, she loves having her best friend at her side. A huge fan of toys that talk, Cadi is hoping that her next family has a “giggle ball" ready for her upon arrival. As a bonded pair, Cadi and Ryker are looking for a home that has the room in their hearts for two.
Fortunate to have had a solid foundation put in place, both Cadi and Ryker are fully trained. They understand commands and love to exercise their bodies and minds every day. Although they are on point with basic training, it is important that their next family continue the training process. This will help Cadi and Ryker form a strong and healthy bond with their family. It will also help them continue to develop the skills needed to become good canine citizens. Having lived in a loving home, Ryker and Cadi are house broken, crate trained, and understand many of the ins and outs of living in a home. However, as is true of any new dog, this pair will need time to adjust to the specific expectations, structure, and routines of their new family. When given time, patience, and leadership, we know they will adjust. Ryker and Cadi have been through enormous changes, but they remain incredible dogs. If your family is looking for a pair that is playful, curious, and ready for an adventure, Cadi and Ryker are the right match for you.
Miney
ADOPTED 10/07/2024!

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Emmie and her seven adorable babies (Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Moe, Cal, Murray, and Bebe) were dumped at an overcrowded shelter in the south. Although Emmie knew that her future was uncertain, she also knew that the 7 little ones (Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Moe, Cal, Murray, and Bebe) that she brought with her were also in danger. As puppy season is in full swing, many furry families of all sizes are finding themselves in tough situations where, unfortunately, many animals do not make it out alive. Fortunately, for this special family, shelter staff began working with a network of rescues to find options, a loving foster family, and the medical support needed to move forward. MAGSR was lucky to have so many people pulling together to help this family move forward into our care. We are honored to move them forward.
Emmie and her pups have been lucky to have lived in a loving foster family. This gave them all the opportunity to learn some of the ins and outs of living in a home. All of the babies did an incredible job with their foster family and have since moved onto foster homes where they are getting additional love and attention in smaller groups. Miney is a confident and playful girl. She is curious and always ready for an adventure. However, when playtime is finished, she is beyond happy to curl up with her people. Having already begun socializing with new people, animals, and in new environments, Miney is already building a solid foundation. It is imperative that her family continue this process as she moves forward. Miney, like all dogs, will thrive in a home with structure, routine, and leadership. With the right set-up, we know this little cutie will be impressive. Although Miney is special, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, and training, Miney will become a stable and confident adult. Miney is looking for a forever family that will cherish her for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!
Updates:Miney is a sweet, energetic pup who loves to play with her foster mom's two German Shepherds. She is pretty submissive to them and likes to follow their leads. As a water dog, Miney loves to play in the puppy pool and has even tried laying in the pool while sunbathing. She does amazingly well with dog puzzles and loves snuffle mats too. As is typical with many young dogs, Miney benefits from daily mental and physical exercise to keep her balanced; she loves the routine and clearly enjoys a familiar schedule. Playful and energetic, she loves to play fetch and will bring the ball back every time! Having experienced the joy of living in a foster home, Miney does well in the crate and is working hard to solidify her potty training. She sleeps from 9pm-5am every night! As socialization is critical to her success, Miney has had many opportunities to interact with dogs and people. When out and about she does well on leash and maintains social norms. It is very important that her forever family continue this trend. Although well-behaved with other dogs, Miney has shown that chasing the resident cat is a good time. However, since she is still young, continued practice with and clear boundaries with a future cat are still an option. Miney will be an amazing addition to her future family!
Miney is well-loved in her foster home and has a blast exploring the world. As a big snuggler, she loves to curl up under a blankie. Typical of a clever working dog, Miney does really well when given toys that keep her mentally stimulated - she loves her peanut butter Kongs and she's always up to a challenge when she has to work to find her food, like when it's spread out in a snuffle mat or a knotted towel. Now that she's up-to-date on her shots, she can explore all sorts of public places. She absolutely loves walks; as soon as she sees her harness, she runs to the door excitedly! She deserves a loving home with at least one loving human partner to take her on more amazing adventures. Will you be that home?

ADOPTED 10/07/2024!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Aspen and Bosco are a bonded pair of senior MAGSR alumni. Their amazing mom welcomed them as seniors into her family and planned on ensuring that they lived out their lives in the comfort, peace, and security of her home. However, when their mom passed away suddenly, this amazing pair found themselves in need of a new home. Aspen and Bosco were their mom's heart; she loved them beyond words. Knowing she would want them to have a place to grieve, rest, and find comfort, we welcomed Aspen and Bosco back to the MAGSR family.
Unfortunately, both dogs have seen loss before and have said good-bye to their family a few times in their lives. It seems that for some, life simply throws one challenge after another. Although they have seen their fair share of loss, both Bosco and Aspen are sweet, friendly, and loving dogs. They truly are a special pair. Bosco is an easy going guy who goes with the flow. He loves the fresh air and a cozy place to hang. Aspen is social, friendly, and joyful. She brings happiness to everyone she meets. Together they are an impressive pair who are cherished by everyone.
Aspen and Bosco are settling into an amazing foster home. Their foster family is ensuring that they both have everything they need to feel safe and loved. We have promised to honor their mom's memory and provide them with everything she would have wanted for them in their golden years.
Zaniah
ADOPTED 10/05/2024!
Good With Kids: Likely
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Like so many other dogs, Zaniah was picked up as a stray and brought to animal services. She waited ever so patiently for her forever family to come and claim her. Although Zaniah's family did not come for her, she was lucky when another rescue stepped in and took over her care. They knew that this lovely lady was incredible and deserved the chance to move forward safely. Knowing Zaniah was heartworm positive, they placed her in an amazing foster family who lovingly walked her through treatment. As they got to know Zaniah, whose nickname is "Z", they realized this girl really was something special. Living with adult dogs and puppies, Z did well with everyone. Her foster family hadn't met such an incredibly solid dog prior to her arrival. Although the rescue and her foster family were very attached to Z, they knew that she would be best placed through a breed specific rescue. When asked if we could continue to move Z forward, we knew this girl was perfect for the MAGSR family.
Z is a friendly, affectionate, and intelligent girl. She picks up new expectations quickly and is responsive. Sweet as can be, Z was clearly well socialized with people and other animals prior to her arrival. Someone along her journey loved her and did everything they could to help her become a stable and confident pup. It is obvious they did a great job with Z. Having lived in a foster home, Z has had the opportunity to learn about the safety and comfort of a loving household. She did very well adjusting to the routines and expectations of her foster family. However, as every household works a little differently, she will need time to adjust to the expectations of her forever family. With time, patience, structure, and routine, Z will thrive. As Z moves forward it is important that her forever family participate in training. Not only will training gel Z build a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Z has been waiting for the right family that will adore her forever. If Z sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Onya
ADOPTED 09/28/2024!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
