Jinx is one of the Halloween puppies who was discarded in the south when his owner could not sell him. Along with his siblings, Salem and Hocus Pocus, Jinx made the long journey to MAGSR with the help of a few incredible rescue groups.
As is typical of all puppies, Jinx is cute, fun-loving, and playful. He brings smiles wherever he goes. Although Jinx is adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy antics and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Jinx will develop into the good canine citizen he is destined to become. If Jinx sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today.

Sophie
ADOPTED 10/11/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes

Sophie and her housemate Bonnie were surrendered to a local shelter when the neighbors started complaining. Although both girls lived in the same household, they are not bonded.
Sophie is a sweet and affectionate dog. She enjoys the company of her people and wants to be with them. Social and interactive, Sophie is looking for a family that will give her the care and attention this lovely lady deserves. Although Sophie enjoys companionship, she can entertain herself. Sophie loves to play with a play and can toss it without help. Sophie has lived in a household with kids and dogs. However, she was injured by a dog within the last year so proper introductions are necessary. If Sophie sounds like the right match for your household, please consider adopting her today.
Noah
ADOPTED 10/11/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
A good samaritan found Noah as a stray and brought him to animal control. Unfortunately, no one came looking for Noah. With a stroke of luck another rescue found Noah and helped him find his way to MAGSR. We are so excited to have welcomed this boy into the MAGSR family.
Noah is a young, energetic guy. He can be nervous when placed in new situations and needs a little time to adjust. When given patience and structure, Noah warms up and enjoys being loved-on by his human companions. Noah enjoys the company of other dogs and absolutely loves to play. He is currently learning all of the ins and outs of living in a household, such as housebreaking and crate training, and doing a great job! Noah is looking for a home that will commit to him forever. If Noah sounds like a match for your household, please ask to meet him today.
Updates:He's doing great with me. Noah has been doing obedience training with me and loves to play with my husky. He does fine in the crate but take a little time to relax before laying down and napping. Noah thinks couches are the best thing ever and loves to cuddle. He is very social and happy, all he wants in life is love and food. When Noah wags his tail his entire body moves with significant force. He's been eating his meals a little to fast so his new family may need to get a special bowl so he slows down. He loves squeaker toys and hard chew toys, he will chew on a few things if you don't watch him. My slippers fell prey to his desire to chew, but he dropped them quickly when told. Overall, he's an absolute sweetheart just needs a family to love him and teach him how to behave.
Casen
ADOPTED 10/11/2020!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Casen's family was not able to properly care for him. As a result, they contacted an organization in the south for help. Fortunately, this group of wonderful volunteers contacted MAGSR and the rest is history.
Casen is a young, handsome, and friendly guy. He has easily won over the hearts and minds of our volunteers. Casen has come a long way to MAGSR in order to find the perfect forever home. He will benefit from some good nutrition, as Casen is significantly underweight at this time. In addition, Casen is looking for a household that will provide him with the structure, guidance and love that all young shepherds need to become good canine citizens. If Casen sounds like a good match for your family, please ask to meet him today.
Miles
ADOPTED 10/10/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Miles is a shepherd lab mix who was brought to MAGSR from a local shelter. While living in his foster home, it has been discovered that this 13 month old is full of puppy energy. Miles loves to go on walks and is learning leash manners in conjunction with basic obedience. Miles loves the water and plays in it any chance he gets. Crate trained, Miles is learning to understand many of the household rules. However,as is true of many 13 month olds, it is best that Miles be crated when his family is away. We feel that Miles can be stubborn and will need a strong handler to help teach him right from wrong and will benefit from a home that is active to help Miles relieve his high energy. Miles has not been socialized with other dogs and has not yet learned the correct way to meet a dog. However, he gets very excited to see people and can’t wait to say hi. Aside from water and walks, Miles enjoys playing with toys and throwing them around to entertain himself. While participating in activities around his foster home, Miles has shown a high degree of prey drive. As a result, we feel that he would be best suited for a home without small animals. If Miles sounds like a good match for your family, please ask to meet him today.
Kate
ADOPTED 10/10/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Kate along with her siblings, Allie and Hunter, were surrendered to MAGSR as their family could no longer provide for them. This was a very hard decision, but Kate's family knew that MAGSR would find him and his siblings safe and loving forever homes.
Kate is a friendly girl. She has lived with kids and other dogs. Although Kate was clearly well loved by her family, she is a little confused by all the changes in his life and needs a little time to adjust. As Kate has had time to settle, we have seen her friendly side emerge. Kate will need a household that will provide patience and structure so that she can fully adjust to her new life. If Kate sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!
Claude
ADOPTED 10/10/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Claude's previous owners decided that they no longer wanted a dog in the house so they put him outside. Unfortunately, some of the neighbors were not happy about having a dog living outside in the neighborhood, as a result, they threatened to shoot Claude. Luckily, a good samaritan heard about Claude and raced to get him out of this situation before it was too late.
When asked if we could help Claude find a forever home that would provide the love and safety he deserved, MAGSR stepped up. Everyone that meets Claude seems to fall in love with his friendly mannerisms. He is housebroken and is working on crate training. Living with both a cat and an energetic dog, Claude has been introduced to the resident cat and showed interest but nothing concerning. He loves playing with his foster brother. The two of them have quickly become buddies. Claude will thrive in a home where he is able to benefit from attention, good exercise, and of course a lot of cuddles.
If Claude sounds like the right match for your home, please ask to meet him today.
Updates:
Claude is house broken and does well with dogs of all sizes. He is a big lover and will sit on your lap and demand to be petted, and if you stop, will remind you to keep going. He has been introduced to his foster's cat on and off leash and while he did show interest in her he never snapped or hurt her. He is good on walks but afraid of loud noises but comes to his person for protection. He is very interested in squirrels and bunnies but is easily corrected when needed. He is currently in a house with another big playful dog and does well, however, he could do well in a house without another dog with lots of attention.
Sam
ADOPTED 10/08/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sam found himself lost and alone in a shelter. When no one came to claim him, another rescue group decided that this joyful little guy needed an out. They called MAGSR and the rest is history.
Sam is an absolute joy to be around. He is a love bug with everyone and everything he meets. Enjoying the company of cats, kids, dogs, and even a pet bird, Sam can't help but make friends everywhere he goes. Both crate trained and housebroken, Sam is already well on his way to learning the ins and outs of living in a household. Although Sam is a faster learner, he is still a puppy and will try some puppy antics if given the opportunity. Sam is looking for a household that will provide the love, structure, and guidance that all young dogs need and deserve. If this little lovebug sounds like a good match for your household, ask to meet him today!
Riggs
ADOPTED 10/08/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Riggs is your typical puppy, playful, energetic, and oh so cute. This adorable little guy loves to run and play. Currently living with other dogs, Riggs gets along well with his furry companions and socializes regularly. As he is still a puppy, Riggs is still learning all of the wonderful rules about living in a household, such as housebreaking and crate training. Puppies are a lifetime commitment that will require a lot of work. Although playful and cute, puppies get into things they shouldn't, have accidents in the house, and require a lot of attention. Riggs is looking for a household that will have the time and patience to raise a well-mannered and balanced pup. If your household is ready to commit to Riggs, please ask to meet him today.
Allie
ADOPTED 10/07/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Allie along with her siblings, Kate and Hunter, were surrendered to MAGSR as their family could no longer provide for them. This was a very hard decision, but Allie's family knew that MAGSR would find her and her brothers safe and loving forever homes.
Allie is a social girl. She enjoys the company of people and dogs. She seems to greatly enjoy car rides and even spoils the driver with kisses along the way. Look for updates below as we get to know more about Allie.
Updates:
Hi there..It's me, Allie. Since coming to MAGSR I have changed so much. When I first arrived, I was fearful of just about everything and just wanted to be in my crate. Now, I'm out and about and busy trying to convince the resident dogs to play with me. I love to play with balls but don't understand the concept of bringing one back yet. Although I am a work in progress when it comes to basic obedience, I know sit and down and I am working on my leash manners. When on a walk there's some much to see and smell that sometimes I get a little too excited and pull. The resident girl in the house is my favorite companion and I will do anything for her. While living with a wonderful foster family, I'm waiting for my forever home. Is that with you? I'll see you soon!
Maggie
ADOPTED 10/06/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Maggie was picked up by animal control and brought to a local shelter. Upon her arrival, it was very clear to the shelter staff that Maggie is a victim of cruelty and neglect. Maggie was extremely emaciated. Her body was covered in scabs, sores, and wounds. She was weak from lack of food and needed encouragement to get up and move. Although the shelter searched for her abusers, no one was identified. Recognizing that Maggie needed help, the shelter worked to find a safe place for Maggie to rest and recuperate.
Fortunately, Maggie has found safety in the MAGSR family. Despite all that Maggie has endured, she is a loving and affectionate dog. Once given the opportunity to warm up to new people, Maggie is all about leaning in for head rubs and giving little kisses. As Maggie has begun eating more regularly and is receiving the medical care she needs, her foster family is beginning to see her personality shine. True to the breed, Maggie is loyal and wants to be with her people. This also gives her the chance to get a few extra head rubs throughout the day. Maggie has clearly lived in a house prior to her arrival at MAGSR. She is housebroken and has some general household manners. At this time, it doesn't appear that Maggie knows any commands. As she is still recovering, her foster family has decided to slowly introduce Maggie to the children and animals in the home. However, Maggie seems to thrive in a calm environment.
All Maggie needs now is a loving forever home that will love and protect her through her gold years. If Maggie sounds like a good match for your household, please ask to meet her today.
If you'd like to help MAGSR care for Maggie, contribute here.
Updates:Maggie has had an eventful week at MAGSR. As regular grooming and bathing has been key to her recovery, Maggie has had daily brushing sessions over the last week to help remove the extra fur and mats found all over her body. As is evident from the picture, these sessions tend to produce piles of fur. Although Maggie wasn't so sure about these brushing sessions at first, she has begun to sit down or lay down throughout each session. This has been a slow and steady process; however, it seems that Maggie now understands that the brush brings comfort and relief. In addition to brushing sessions, Maggie is also getting bathed every two to three days with a medicated shampoo. Although she still isn't thrilled about the water, Maggie relaxes while being massaged with the shampoo and absolutely loves having her head dried with the towel. After bathing and grooming sessions, Maggie tends to find a comfortable spot and sleeps. Spa sessions sure are tiring.
This week Maggie has started eating more regularly; this has dramatically increased her energy. Although she still waits for a special Stella and Chews dinner pattie before eating her food, Maggie is more enthusiastic about meal times. Perhaps she has learned to be a little spoiled. Who could resist spoiling such a sweet soul? With increased energy has come a desire for greater attention, a curiosity to explore new places in the house, and a greater interest in walks. Maggie loves being outside and would happily spend hours hanging with her people sniffing the flowers and lounging in the grass.
As Maggie still has a long road to recovery, please consider donating toward her care. MAGSR remains committed to providing Maggie with the care and comfort she deserves, but we could use your support along the road. Continue to look for updates on Maggie's journey as she makes her way toward a forever home.
Unfortunately, our lovely Maggie began showing signs of distress this week. MAGSR got her into the vet only to discover that Maggie had been hiding what appears to be significant heart issues in her lovely but battered body. The incredible staff at the vet's office are working diligently to gain as much information as possible in order to make decisions that will provide Maggie with comfort and relief. As she waits for a final test to determine next steps, Maggie is back home with her foster family resting. Although she is less energetic than we had seen over the last few weeks, Maggie continues to follow her foster mom around the house as often as she can. She is getting extra head rubs and always has the company of her foster family both fluffy and human. Maggie will be continuously monitored over the next few days to make sure that she is safe and comfortable. Please keep this special lady in your thoughts.
Cody
ADOPTED 10/03/2020!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Cody was surrendered to a shelter for reasons unknown to us. According to his records it states that he lived with children, we have yet to evaluate him with children. It also states that he lived with cats and did well with them. He also lived with a female GSD. Cody has some skin issues that we are taking care of, we are unsure if it's caused by allergies or not. In his previous home they described him as being a sweet boy, but was protective of his family. Cody will be off for a full exam with our vets, we will post an update once he has been seen.
Tango
ADOPTED 10/03/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Tango was surrendered as his family could no longer provide him with the life he deserves. He is a very handsome, good natured, friendly boy. He loves other dogs both big and small, he just wants to be everyone's friend. He adores children - very gentle and just snuggles in. He has had no issues meeting new people both women and men, big or small. He does great riding in the vehicle. He has not been around cats, so we have no idea how he is with them. He enjoys playing in water, be it from a hose, pool or body of water.
Updates:Tango is doing very well in his foster home. His foster reported that he was painful in his hind end, and so Tango is currently on a medical hold until he can be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. Check back on Tango's profile for more information on his status as information comes available.
Tango had his orthopedic consult and while he does have hip dysplasia, surgery is not recommended at this time. He has loss of muscle in his hind end, and the surgeon feels his muscles can be built back up with various exercises, and this will greatly help his mobility and quality of life in the future. He also needs to lose another 15 lbs, to come in around ~80 lbs, so on the leaner side, as all GSDs should be. If you are interested in Tango, please ask to meet him!
Since Tango’s appointment with the surgeon, where he was diagnosed with muscle loss in his back end (along with hip dysplasia – not requiring surgery), he has been on a diet along with increased levels of exercise. Tango is continuing to build his muscles, especially in his back end (you can see muscle patterns developing) and he is getting stronger every day. As he gets stronger his obedience training is a necessity and it is something we work on daily and he is doing great. He wants to please and do the right thing and he gets a sad face if he needs to learn the lesson again. Tango has been a great companion. He loves to take walks, lay at my feet when resting, and he loves to talk to me even gets a little sassy at times, he is very social, in fact he is one of the most vocal dogs I have ever been associated with. The foster home had another shepherd in the home for several weeks and the two dogs romped, ran and played hard daily – Tango experienced no muscle issues during this time. Tango went to the dog park and to the dog beach and loved playing with all the other dogs at both places – see pictures. He hopes to do that again, soon. He loves water, if you have a hose he wants to play in it and at the beach he splashed and ran in the waves and of course he thoroughly loved his shower time at the end. Tango is very food motivated. He will do just about anything if there is a snack/meal attached to it. Tango is very handsome and is told so often. He is just an all-around great dog! If you have any interest, ask to meet him and stop by to play and check him out.
Elke
ADOPTED 09/27/2020!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
This happy girl came to us as a stray. She is a sweet dainty girly girl that found herself with animal control and no one came for her. Although she can be shy with new people, Elke is a people pleaser and loves to socialize once comfortable. Typical of a young shepherd, Elke has some puppy energy and is a joy to be around. She loves squeaky toys and playing ball outside. She will get a bit mouthy when excited, but she will stop when corrected. At this time, Elke is in a loving foster home learning about house breaking, crate training, and general household manners. If Elke sounds like a good match for your family, please ask to meet her today.
Sadie
ADOPTED 09/26/2020!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sadie and Mazie were well-loved members of their family. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of their control, the girls' family needed to find them a new home. MAGSR was honored to step-up and provide Sadie and Mazie with a safe haven while we looked for the perfect forever for these girls.
Sadie is a sweet girl who looks for guidance and leadership from those around her. When given calm and consistent leadership, Sadie responds positively. Sadie, similar to Mazie, is a little confused by all of the changes in her life. As a result, she needs a little extra time to warm up to new people and situations. However, when provided with guidance and support, Sadie warms up to new people and takes cues from the handler.
If Sadie sounds like a good match for your household, ask to meet her today.
Titan
ADOPTED 09/26/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Titan's family loved him very much. Unfortunately, they had to make the difficult decision to surrender him to a shelter when they could not find appropriate housing that would allow for a GSD. Prior to his arrival at the shelter, Titan lived with kids of varying ages. His family made sure to keep him well socialized, even bringing him to work from time to time.
Since his arrival at MAGSR, Titan has been identified as a goofball. He is energetic and playful. Titan is a ball dog. He loves to play ball and brings a lot of laughter when doing so. Titan, just like any dog, will benefit from training with his new family. This will not only help him bond with his new family but it will also help him become a good canine citizen. If Titan sounds like a good match for your household, please ask to meet him today.
Jasper
ADOPTED 09/20/2020!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Jasper was dumped by his former owner on a country road and picked up by animal control. When our volunteer picked him up from the shelter it was obvious he was not feeling well and not in great shape. He immediately went into medical boarding at one of our vets offices, where he received the best care. He had a severe respiratory and ear infection, hair loss with a skin infection and was not eating. All needed tests were performed and treatment was started. As time went on he was still not wanting to eat, radiographs were taken and it was found he had foreign objects in him. He was immediately taken to surgery where a number of assorted items were removed from his stomach.
After spending 3 weeks in medical boarding Jasper was able to go home with his foster. He is now on the mend, starting to eat on his own and finally wagging his tail some. He still needs to put on some more weight but his foster will be sure he never misses a much needed meal.
Through all of this he has been nothing but sweet and friendly. Jasper is now looking for his forever family, one that will treat him with care and love him for his lifetime. He is ready to leave his past behind and looks forward to a future of living in a home, proper nutrition, walks, playtime and lots of cuddles from his humans.
Updates:Jasper is doing great in his foster home and loves his foster parents. He is such a sweet boy who has come a long way since he came into the rescue. He went from not wanting to eat to sitting and eagerly waiting for his food. Jasper has a great appetite now and has put on some much-needed weight since his surgery. He loves everyone he meets and loves getting attention from everyone too (he’s so darn handsome and friendly, why wouldn’t anyone not want to give this boy some attention). Jasper likes his doggie beds, and if allowed, he’ll get up in the human bed too. Jasper is housebroken and crate trained, and he really loves to go for car rides. Jasper loves his Nylabone, although, his humans must be very careful in the toys selected for him due to his history, and he’s only allowed to have them when supervised. If this lovable handsome boy sounds like a fit for your family, check out his profile and ask to meet Jasper – he just might have a kiss waiting for you.
Kona
ADOPTED 09/20/2020!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Kona is a beautiful and intelligent girl. She was surrendered to MAGSR when her family was unable to continue to care for her. As it is quite evident that Kona's family loved her, we have promised to help Kona find a forever family that will continue to provide her with the structure, guidance, and love that will help her continue to thrive.
Housebroken and crate trained, Kona understands many of the household rules. However, as is true of many shepherds, she may try to explore too much when her family is away. As a result, it is best that Kona be crated when her family is away. Having previously lived with a large male, Kona enjoys the company of other large dogs, particularly, male dogs. She has a confident and stable personality. Kona has lived with children in her previous home and did well with them. Although Kona does already know some commands, she will excel in training with her new family. This will help her develop a strong bond. If Kona sounds like a good match for your family, please ask to meet her today.
