Dakota
ADOPTED 11/11/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Dakota came to us from a shelter. We have been told that she is a people person, enjoying being by your side and following you around. She also adores children according to the report we received. She has been around cats, but she seeks them out to play. This may be too rough for some cats if not properly managed. We are also told that she is good with dogs of all sizes. Sadly it looks as though she was used for breeding then dumped. She has no leash skills at this time, but this is something our volunteers will work on. She requires training to teach her good manners. She has energy as she is young and will require daily exercise.
Nala
ADOPTED 11/11/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Nala is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.

Updates:Nala is settling in to her foster home. Nala has a had a rough life and hasn't had much love and attention. Nala is a little skittish and but learning to trust her foster family. She has become more relaxed, confident and outgoing every day. Nala loves her human companions and likes being close to them when walking and in the house. Nala will do great in a home with someone who is relaxed and patient and who has the time and desire to take slow walks around the block. If Nala sounds like the perfect companion for you, ask to meet her today.
Nala is feeling much better now that she is getting the love and care she so much deserves. She is learning to trust and becoming more confident in her foster home. She shows she is happy and bounces around the yard. She walks well on leash and off leash and she likes to walk very close to her human. Nala is very quiet and submissive. She gets along with kids and other dogs with easy introductions. If Nala sounds like the girl for you, please ask to meet her.
Nala's foster reports that she is a sweetheart with the temperament of a therapy dog. Nala loves to be close to her humans, and if you let her, she'll climb into her human's lap. Nala has taken over the comfy couch with the resident GSD and they get along really well - they are quite smitten with one another. Nala is waiting patiently for her fur-ever home to give her a life of love and comfort. If that home could be yours, please ask to meet this very sweet girl.
Valerie
ADOPTED 11/11/2018!
Good With Kids: Older Kids Only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Valerie is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
She is a little skittish at this time which is understandable after all of the recent changes she has endured. She can take a little bit of time to warm up to new people, but once she does she is very playful. She also enjoys the company of other dogs.
Updates:Valerie is settling in to her foster home. She is quiet and a total sweetheart, but very skittish girl. Valerie loves her crate and dog bed, she's great walking and circles some because of different noises that startle her. Valerie is working on her obedience commands. Once Valerie gets to know her human, she greets tail wagging and loves to give kisses and get attention. Valerie also likes the resident dog and feels more comfortable having another dog around. At this time, Valerie is considered a high flight risk and needs a quiet and calm household, which is why we've marked her for older kids only. Valerie needs a patient human who will commit to her and love her and let her trust again. If Valerie sounds like a match for your family, and you can have the patience to go slow to gain her trust, ask to meet her.
Valerie is settling in to her foster home. Valerie is a warm, happy go lucky dog who loves attention. She loves being around her human friends. Valerie will be best suited for a house that has a fenced in yard because she likes some privacy when doing her business. She needs a sturdy plastic crate or stronger when left alone to keep her inside the crate. She enjoys the company of other dogs and would do well in a home with another dog and loves chasing each other around and playing. If you're willing to give Valerie a chance, please ask to meet her today!
Valerie has settled in nicely and come out of her shell. She happily comes to her humans wagging her tail. When Valerie lays down, she makes funny noises. She loves dog beds, and lays on them while her humans are home and at night. Valerie is getting better with new people. She's understanding that humans are friendly, but she's still a little skittish. When we go for walks, Valerie is on squirrel alert. When she sees a squirrel her head pops up, her tail wags like crazy, and she runs around. She's the cutest little thing when she does that. When Valerie and the resident dog go to a fenced in place, they play off leash, run around and chase each other. Valerie is looking for a forever home with a forever person - can you be that person?
Sheeba
ADOPTED 10/31/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sheeba found herself at a shelter needing rescue. She is a young, high energy, untrained pup that needs a family who will commit to training and providing her with structure. It's obvious no one has taken the time to teach her manners. She will require a family who has the time and patience it will take to burn off her energy by going for walks, playtime and of course training. She is an absolute love, smothering people with puppy kisses and lobbying for your attention and affection.
Updates:Young Sheeba has greatly benefited from her 13 weeks of professional training at Stateline Canine. Originally, she found herself at a shelter and didn’t know much about interacting properly with the world when she came to MAGSR. But after professional training, she is much more able to enjoyably interact with people and normal daily activities. She is much more observant of her handler now, and has learned basic commands. Her leash skills have also improved a great deal. She has completed on & off leash training and comes with private lessons for her future owners. Sheeba has an awesome temperament and will be a wonderful companion for an active person or family. She needs a home that will give her an outlet for her energy and will follow through with the training. She has a lot of energy and had zero focus and no ability to settle prior to training. She is very social with people and works very well once bonded with someone. Sheeba is ready to move on to a forever home. If you would like to meet Sheeba, she is ready to meet you and your family! Please ask to meet Sheeba today!
Corona
ADOPTED 10/30/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Corona's persons new job involves a lot of travel, with long periods of time away from home. Knowing he could no longer provide her with a stable home she was returned to us. Corona has gone through obedience training, but it is important that her new family also take her to training so that you learn to work together and create a bond. Corona is a friendly girl, she enjoys going for walks and playing fetch.
Gunner
ADOPTED 10/28/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Gunner is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Gunner is handsome golden boy. We are not sure if he has any GSD mixed in, but he needed a place to start a new life so we welcomed him with opened arms. As he just arrived in our care we are still learning more about him, so watch for updates.
Updates:
Gunner came to us from South Carolina by way of Tennessee, thanks to hurricane Florence. This poor baby has had a lot of upheaval in his short life and all he wants is love. He's a leaner, and a licker, and he loves naps in the sun, such a gentle soul. He doesn't know many commands, but he's a super fast learner. Gunner needs someone who will show him kindness and take it slow to reassure him he's safe, loved and won't be jostled about anymore. Could that someone be you?
Murphy
ADOPTED 10/27/2018!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Murphy made his way to us from a shelter where he was a stray. We have no past history for him, so we are getting to know him. He requires a slower approach when meeting new people. He is in need of training which will help him learn good manners, build his confidence and bond with his new family.
Updates:Murphy is an interesting high energy pup. He’s likely had very little structure in his life to this point and is in need of a strong willed person or family to help guide his future and provide consistent and strong structure, especially with his indoor manners. He’s easy to leash up and walk, both on long and short leash. He’s loves car rides but seems unfamiliar with exiting or entering the car. He is unfamiliar with stairs but is learning to handle them quickly. He has a very high ball drive and will bring the ball back to his human as long as the ball is thrown again. Murphy loves his humans of all ages and wants to be with them always. He needs some work on his manners and is prone to countertop surfing. He also needs help learning that his crate is a safe place to stay. He takes treats gently and is very treat motivated. He is happy to work with anyone willing to give him a chance, could that be you?
Murphy is a sweet boy who takes time to get to know you. Once he decides you're his friend, you are allowed the honor of bestowing belly rubs! And then come the kisses! He's great on leash, sitting at stops while in heel, knows basic obedience and follows his handler. He's VERY food driven, which is a very handy training tool. He is going to need someone who can commit to the exercise and training he needs to keep his mind and body healthy. He's such a handsome boy, do you think you have room for Murphy in your heart and home?
Arbor
ADOPTED 10/20/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Arbor was surrendered as his person said she had no time for him. Arbor is very much a teenager and is in need of obedience training and structure. He can be very protective of his person which needs to be corrected. While this is a trait found in German Shepherds it does need to be managed by their person. He has good leash manners and is crate trained. He is currently settling into his foster home, watch for updates.
Updates:Arbor is starting to relax in his foster home with two resident dogs: a young bossy female shepherd and a laid-back adult male. He likes the human children in the home and is learning not to jump on them, which is how he says I love you right now.
He’s completely unfazed by the roughhousing and noise that accompany young children and so far does not seem to have any objections to having any part of his body touched. Arbor is also learning that humans do not like affectionate nibbles on their ear and hands while receiving kisses. He takes correction nicely.
Arbor is being fed in his crate and that’s where he keeps his bones too. He is not happy when the resident dogs approach the crate while he has food or a food treat in there. He doesn’t seem concerned about the toys. He does not react to the children approaching the crate while he has food in there but that is still being very carefully supervised. He brings balls and toys to the kids to play.
Arbor appears to be housebroken and doesn’t mind the crate. He likes to go for walks and has excellent leash manners. Arbor is very happy to come inside after his walk and knows after 2 days which house he goes into.
Arbor really wants a forever home. He would like to have kids throw balls for him and to go to training to learn good manners. He would be fine as an only dog or with a laid back resident dog. If he goes to live with another high energy dog he will need an owner who is experienced in being the boss while they establish boundaries.
Unfortunately, Arbor tested heartworm positive when seen by MAGSR's vet. This could have been avoided had he been kept on monthly heartworm preventatives. Arbor is in the beginning stages of his heartworm treatment, which of course MAGSR will pay for his entire treatment. Treatment is expensive, but Arbor is certainly worth the cost. Donations towards his treatment would be greatly appreciated, this would also help us save other dogs with medical needs. He will have to take it slow for the next few months while he undergoes treatment, so lots of rest will be in order.
Ari
ADOPTED 10/20/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Ari is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Those ears are precious and that face melts your heart, such a sweet boy. Ari would love to be apart of your family in his forever home. He is settling into his foster home so please watch for updates from his foster family.
Updates:Ari is a very sweet dog who is quite gentle and loves his humans. He has learned that stairs are not scary and can even be fun to run up and down on. He is respectful of boundaries in the home (no dogs in kitchen). He is easy to walk on leash, even if his heel is not perfect yet. Ari is aware of other dogs, but does not seem interested nor bothered by them, even if they are barking at him from across the street. Ari is good at staying quietly in the crate for a couple of hours. Ari has a great bark and likes to let the mailman know when he comes to the door. Ari sleeps well through the night on his doggie bed. Ari is working hard on housebreaking and is doing a great job. Ari is a very laid back dog, but does have moments of being playful. If Ari sounds like a good fit for your family, ask to meet him.
Bria
ADOPTED 10/17/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bria, along with other family members, were dumped at the shelter. Not often we are happy when dogs are dumped at shelters, but in this case, they are lucky they were. The family of Shepherds lived outside, no vet care, no vaccines, no preventatives. Bria has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Bria will become even more of an amazing girl than she already is. Please inquire if Bria sounds like a good match for your family.
Merle
ADOPTED 10/17/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Merle is one of 22 dogs from the Carolina's that needed help due to Hurricane Florence.
Merle is such a sweet, handsome boy. He is a little underweight, approximately 10 more lbs would be his ideal weight. He is in a foster home and seems to be housebroken and crate trained. He knows some basic commands such as sit, stay, paw and down. He enjoys playing with toys and fetch. As he settles more into his foster home his foster family will provide updates.
Updates:Merle has been in his foster home for a little over a week, so we know a few more details about him. Merle is a young, handsome boy who has definitely known the comforts of a home in the past. He is fully housebroken – he does well on a schedule and controls himself accordingly. Merle is also crate-trained and goes into his crate without resisting when asked to do so. He knows a couple commands (sit, down, stay, paw) and works for treats, toys or praise. He does not know to heel while walking, but is not difficult to walk on leash. Merle loves toys and will play for hours, usually wanting his human to join with him. He has great ball drive and will fetch/retrieve as long as you are willing to throw it. Merle is very athletic, with a smaller, slim build, and thus suitable for a lot of outdoor doggy activities, which he loves. Merle bonds deeply and quickly and can become protective of his space and his humans. This will need to be addressed with both training and a strong handler. He will also benefit greatly from a strong leader who will provide appropriate correction and training. Slow introductions to new people and animals seem to work best for him. Once he accepts a newcomer, he's very social. Merle is a great young dog, looking for his perfect home. Could that be yours??
Emilia
ADOPTED 10/15/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Emilia along with other family members were dumped at a shelter. Not often we are happy when dogs are dumped at shelters, but in this families case they are lucky they were. The family of Shepherds lived outside, no vet care, no vaccines, no preventatives. They were all crawling with fleas and ticks. Emilia is so very sweet, she enjoyed spending time with our volunteers being loved on. Right now she is more comfortable with women, she can be skittish of men. She did well in the car and at the vets for her exam. Emilia has never been on a leash, she is working on that. Training will help her build self confidence and form a bond with her new family. Emilia deserves to know what a real family is, one that will love, care for and cherish her.

Oakley, along with other family members, were dumped at shelter. Not often we are happy when dogs are dumped at shelters, but in this case, they are lucky they were. Oakley is making great strides, and while loud noises and unexpected movement can startle him, he recovers quickly and is back to his happy self with a constantly wagging tale. He seems to get along just fine with the resident kids in the house, and hasn't seemed interested in the cat, though that could change once he is use to all of the new things in his life. He seems to enjoy having an older, calm canine companion to show him the ropes. In just a few days he has learned to do the stairs and is sitting on command. He is a smart puppy that is going to make a really great family dog.

ADOPTED 09/29/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Avery came to us as a result of MAGSR stepping up to help these puppies, along with several other dogs, from a rescue in the Carolinas who had to evacuate due to flooding from Hurricane Florence. Avery cannot be any cuter and is absolutely a great little girl, happy go lucky and loves to give puppy kisses. Avery has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Avery will become even more of an amazing girl than he already is. Please inquire if Avery sounds like a good match for your family.

Mason, along with other family members, were dumped at shelter. Not often we are happy when dogs are dumped at shelters, but in this case, they are lucky they were. The family of Shepherds lived outside, no vet care, no vaccines, no preventatives. Mason is very scared and confused and will need someone who can go slow with him. Mason has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Evi
ADOPTED 09/24/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Evi was tied to a fence in a nearby park with a note on her neck that her owner is homeless and asked for someone to please give her a good home. The shelter reached out to MAGSR to help Evi find a forever home. It is reported that she is good with children and other dogs, but will Chase cats. She is a friendly, sweet girl. She does need basic obedience training which will teach her good manners and help the bond between her and her new family.
Updates:Evi is settling in to her foster home nicely and is learning how to behave in the home. Evi has a good bit of energy and loves to play – so much so that she plays very rough and will use her mouth during play. Due to Evi’s roughness and mouthiness during playing, Evi will not be placed in a home with young children. Evi will need a leader who is willing to work with her and burn her energy. If that leader is you, please ask to meet Evi.

Baldwin was surrendered as his family was moving and could not take him with them. He is a young energetic pup who needs a family that has the time, patience and are willing to commit to raising a young dog. He will require training, guidance and boundaries so that he will become a well mannered, well socialized adult GSD. He is settling into his foster home so watch for updates as the foster gets to know more about him.
Glory
ADOPTED 09/22/2018!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Glory came to us from a shelter so we have no history on her. Since arriving in our care she has been friendly. She previously lived wth another GSD. She of course needs training, which help her learn good behavior and manners. Glory is adjusting to living in a foster home, watch for updates.
Updates:Unfortunately, Glory tested heartworm positive when seen by MAGSR's vet. This could have been avoided had she been kept on monthly heartworm preventatives. Glory is in the beginning stages of her heartworm treatment, which of course MAGSR will pay for her entire treatment. Treatment is expensive but Glory is certainly worth the cost. Donations towards her treatment would be greatly appreciated, this would also help us save other dogs with medical needs. She will have to take it slow for the next few months while undergoes treatment, so lots of rest will be in order.
Glory has started her heartworm treatment and is doing pretty well adjusting to the activity restrictions she needs to finish getting better. Glory is so sweet and loving to the volunteers who come to the kennel to get her out for some fresh air. She is working on her sits, downs and stays and she takes treats gently. Glory would love to have someone to help her through the rest of her treatment and love her fur-ever - could that someone be you?

Titan's human dad took ill and can no longer care for him. Titan has had some turmoil in his life and will need time to adjust to the changes in his life. He lived with teenagers in his temporary home before being surrendered to us. Stability, structure and training will help him tremendously, this also helps build a bond between the dog and family. At only 2 years old he does have lots of energy, lots of mental and physical exercise will help burn that young dog energy.
Updates:Titan a very handsome, long haired GSD with a lot to offer. He can sit, down, stay, walks well on a leash, loads in the car easily and takes treats very gently. He's fine being brushed, AND having mats removed which is very important with his beautiful long coat. Titan is a wonderful boy who will make someone a loyal companion.

Strax
ADOPTED 09/15/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Sweet Strax found himself in a shelter when his family dumped him there. The shelter staff love him very much and took very good care of him. Strax has some skin issues which we are having looked into by a vet. We are not sure if it's allergies to food, environmental or if it's something else. His food has been changed to a grain free and he's on fish oil, it will take some time to see if this helps. Strax lived with children in his previous home, he was cat tested at the shelter and he did well so he may be able to live in a home with cats. He is such a well mannered, even keeled boy. He takes everything in stride, welcomes all people he meets and will play bow when introduced to other dogs. Strax seems to be an overall well balanced boy who would fit well into anyone's life.
Updates:Strax is a very laid back boy, easy to walk, wants to be around you all the time, loves people, wants to meet everybody, good with other dogs, is crate trained, loves ice cubes. Bottom line, Strax is amazing! His foster parents cannot go to the refrigerator without him running up and looking at the freezer for his ice cube. Strax thrives on making his humans happy. His foster parents call him their dream dog because he is so easy and dedicated. Strax LOVES his donated Nylabone as much as we love Strax! Strax would be an amazing family dog in his furever home. Does Strax sound like the perfect fit for you? If so, ask to meet him.
Oso
ADOPTED 09/14/2018!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Oso a very handsome, big boy weighing in at 105 lbs. Although he is large, he is a gentle giant. Oso's favorite activity is to play with balls, the more balls the better, yes even soccer and basketball size balls. It is imperative that all dogs go through obedience training and Oso is not exception. With a dog of this size you want to have good manners, this will make walking him on a leash much more enjoyable.
Unfortunately Oso was returned to us. Family members moved into his home, after he had lived there over a year, with small dogs that Oso did not get along with, so he got the boot. He was fine with the neighbors female GSD. He came back to us over weight so he has been put on diet, that along with exercise he should be down a good weight in no time.
Updates:Oso sure does LOVE balls, all sizes, squeaky and otherwise, this boy goes nuts for them! He's a very calm, loving sweetheart who will be a great companion on walks or just hanging around. He's easy on the leash, takes treats gently, sits nicely for brushing and knows basic commands. A training class will help with bonding to this honey of a dog, once complete you will have a wonderful friend. Just look at that smile, with his size and demeanor, he's sure to impress!
Oso has been a very good boy in his foster home and very respectful. Oso knows sit and stay until he gets his release command before he goes for his food and he is working on and getting better about taking treats gently. Oso loves belly rubs and loves being petted on the head and around the ears (he's a real fan of shoulder massages). Oso will give his human kisses. Oso is working on his leash manners and after walking a bit, will settle into a nice heel. Oso is a very kind and gentle soul. If Oso sounds like a good fit for your family, ask to meet him.
Oso is settling into his new foster home more day by day. He know basic commands such as sit and down. With a strong leader, he walks well on a leash. Oso is completely house broken and has had no accidents in the house although he doesn't know which door to go to because he hasn't been in his new foster home long enough to know. Oso loves being pet and let's you know he wants attention. He is well behaved in his crate when he can't hear or see anyone. When he knows his humans are around, he wants to be with them. Oso loves being in his foster home but he would love a furever home instead.

Hi friends, my name is Sarge and I am interviewing prosepctive forever families. Let me explain my situation and get you up to speed. I managed to get myself in quite a pickle as I landed myself in local shelter as a stray. I am not really sure what a stray is but I will figure that out later. The accommodations were not bad. They were really nice to me and I did get a warm bed and two squares a day! It was kind of rough though because I was use to em... certain luxeries. I was at this place for about a month when they told me my foster family was coming to pick me up and bring me home! They are amazing and I am really living it up here wth them but foster mean temporary until my perfect home presents itself. They told me I can stay as long as I need to which makes me so happy. I even heard them say they were taking me to acupuncture this weekend so I am hoping that is some sort of massage and they provide treats! I will update later on how that goes.. So dont worry, I am in a good place as I interview
So back to my requirements.. you know a senior gentleman has certain needs and things we become accustomed to. I like a soft orthopedic bed with a blanky, I demand regular head and belly scratches, and daily treats. And let's be clear, I DONT enjoy steps and can only get up or down one or two steps because I sustained a bad pelvic injury in my younger days that never healed correctly so I only get around on three legs. My back leg is pretty useless although it does help to steady me when begging at the table... I have learned to compensate for my injury and do still enjoy playing and romping in the yard. My new family will need to provide some pain meds and supplements to help keep me as pain free as possible. Here is a positive.. I am totally house broken but do require to be let out every few hours as in my old age I just can't hold it as long as when I was a young buck.. My favorite past time aside from eating is sleeping because don't forget I am a senior boy and require several naps.. I am the most laid back guy that you will ever meet! I like my doggie friends big and small! I am just an all around great companion and just want a person to call my own. I will follow you around and lay at your feet! If you feel you could be my forever family and provide for my senior needs please apply above! Love Sarge
