Handsome Joey was picked up as a stray in the south with a few other dogs. Fortunately, he was brought into the care of a southern rescue while they waited out his stray hold. When no one stepped forward for this sweet boy, the rescue began looking for an adoptive placement. Although Joey is clearly an incredible boy, with adoptions on the decline across the country and the number of dogs needing placement increasing, Joey was being looked over. Knowing this boy would be more successful in a different region, a plea for help with a rescue transfer was sent out. MAGSR was lucky to have an amazing foster home step forward for Joey so that he could move forward.

Joey is an absolute doll. As a stunning guy, he is already turning heads with his oversized ears, long tail, and joyful personality. It is clear that this guy was given opportunities to socialize with both people and dogs at some point along his journey which has resulted in a solid foundation. Typical for a young shepherd, Joey is both intelligent and active. He loves to run and play in the yard, enjoys goofing around with other dogs, and is beyond happy to join in on daily adventures. As he moves forward, it will be important that his forever family exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. This will help Joey maintain his impressive personality. Still developing basic commands and leash manners, training will go a long way with this boy. Not only will it help him develop a lasting bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen.

Chase was first welcomed into the MAGSR family many years ago. With his impressive personality and sweet soul, it didn’t take long for him to find a wonderful home, where he spent several happy years as a beloved family member. Unfortunately, as life sometimes changes despite everyone’s best efforts, Chase found himself needing MAGSR once again.

Chase grew up with two children, lived peacefully with the family cat, and had interactions with other dogs. When a new family member arrived, a serious medical condition developed that resulted in a severe allergy to Chase. His family did everything they could to manage the situation, but when it became clear that things would not improve, they made the incredibly difficult and selfless decision to return Chase to MAGSR so he could find a new home. At MAGSR, we protect our own. When Chase needed help, we ensured he had a safe and loving foster home where he could settle in comfortably while beginning the search for his next forever family.

Chase is a sweet, loving, and deeply devoted senior boy. He loves wholeheartedly and comes with a solid foundation thanks to years spent in a stable, nurturing home. He understands household routines, is housebroken, and is crate trained. As with any dog transitioning into a new environment, Chase will need a bit of time to adjust to the routines and expectations of his future family. Marlo is a stunning German Shepherd with a heart as big as his paws. He showed up at a country home down south and was reported as a stray, but when no one came for him, it became clear that Marlo was searching for something more—a family. He chose an incredibly kind home to visit and quickly showed what a wonderful dog he is. Marlo was great with the children, respectful of cats, and got along well with other dogs. One of his favorite things? The moment you approach him, he eagerly drops, rolls over, and offers his belly for scratches—clearly a professional at soaking up affection.

Although we don't know much about his past, it is clear that someone took the time to provide this boy with a solid foundation. Marlo is quiet and well-mannered in his crate and truly enjoys going for walks. Sadly, like many dogs from the south, Marlo is heartworm positive. The good news is that MAGSR covers all of his heartworm treatment, so his future family can focus on loving him and helping him heal. This boy is already moving forward with his care. Marlo will need to take it easy over the next few months while his body heals. However, as he is already a pro with the crate and responsive to the handler, Marlo is the perfect patient. Stella found her match several years ago. Her mom welcomed this extraordinary girl into her heart and never looked back. An incredible pair, Stella and her mom had a special understanding of each other. They enjoyed their days together on the farm. With fresh air, sunshine, and plenty of daily activities, Stella's world was filled with joy and love. When Stella's mom started getting sick, family members stepped in to help out. Stella found comfort in her family, but missed her mom. As things improved, the two were reunited and all seemed well with the world. Recently, it was determined that Stella's mom needed some extra help and would no longer be able to live independently. Recognizing that Stella could not move into a facility with her mom, a heartbreaking decision was made - Stella would need to be rehomed. Knowing we protect our own, her family called MAGSR and asked for help. We knew this was not an easy decision for Stella's family. But, we promised we would care for this senior lady and ensure she had everything she needed. 

Saying goodbye is never an easy option. We know that both Stella and her mom miss each other greatly. With such a significant change, Stella has been taking some time to take a breath and grieve. Welcomed into one of our senior foster homes, Stella's foster family is giving her time to adjust to her new surroundings. Soft blankets, comforting toys, and daily routine seems to be a welcome set-up. Daily time out in the fresh air also seems comforting. Stella has begun to check in with her foster parents regularly. A huge fan of a good head pat and attention on her terms, Stella is clear about her needs. Her foster family is always happy to give a head rub and some love. Very attuned to her environment, Stella likes to know what is happening around her and typically doesn't miss a beat. She is the perfect watchdog.  

As a senior pup, Stella takes her time moving from one place to another and requires some additional support to remain comfortable. Senior needs are often very different from our younger pups and typically entail additional vetting, medications, and supplements. Team MAGSR will ensure that Stella has everything she needs to remain safe and comfortable. Although Stella will always receive the care she needs, senior care can be expensive. If you’re looking for sunshine wrapped in fur, look no further than Cora! This happy, affectionate girl is full of life, energy, and love to share. Cora is always ready to greet new friends—human or canine—with her trademark wiggly booty, stubby corgi features, bright eyes, and big, goofy grin. She loves meeting new people and has never met a stranger. Although she hasn’t been around children before, her friendly, social nature suggests she would greet them with the same enthusiasm she shows adults.

Cora is a fun-loving, curious companion who thrives on attention and playtime. She’s loyal, full of personality, and has an infectious zest for life that makes every day brighter. Cora is simply all about enjoying every ounce of life. As is true of both breeds, particularly younger GSDs and Corgis, Cora will thrive with continued training, clear boundaries, and consistent structure. Cleo Grace’s journey hasn’t been easy. She was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter, carrying the weight of a difficult past. Recognizing that both siblings deserved a chance to move forward, this rescue began addressing their medical needs and looking for a breed-specific rescue to help them find the right home. When asked if we could welcome them both into the MAGSR family, our team stepped forward and the rest is history.

Nova Sol is clearly a beautiful young pup. A sweet girl who loves attention and playtime, this baby easily wins over the hearts of everyone she meets. With a solid understanding of toys and a zest for life, Nova Sol fills her days with playtime, people time, doggy interactions, and endless cuddles. Striking Sarge, like so many dogs, found himself in a large, overcrowded shelter—unsure where things had gone wrong on his journey. The staff cared deeply and wanted the best for this big-hearted guy, but with limited resources, nationwide drops in adoptions, and an overwhelming number of dogs arriving daily, they simply couldn’t keep up. They knew Sarge deserved more than they could offer, so they began reaching out to rescues up and down the coast in hopes of finding him a safe place to land. Fortunately, when one of our sister rescues received the call for help, Sarge’s story made its way to MAGSR. Our team knew we couldn’t leave this boy behind. Working closely with local groups, shelter volunteers, and transporters, we ensured Sarge made his way safely into the MAGSR family. Sometimes, teamwork truly makes all the difference for a dog in need.

Although Sarge was already known as a big boy, our team quickly realized he wasn’t quite big enough. With ribs showing, a dull coat in need of vitamins, and a good bath overdue, we jumped right in to give him the care he needed to move forward. Through it all, Sarge showed us what a friendly, social guy he is—already comfortable with both people and other dogs. Sarge has a solid foundation, and it’s important that his forever family continue to build on it as he settles into his new home. Food-motivated and eager to please, he loves practicing his commands and happily works for tasty treats. He learns quickly, and with consistent training, he will continue to shine. Sarge is still working on his leash manners and, if given the chance, will gladly pull you along for the ride. Training will be a game changer for this handsome boy—helping him become a well-mannered adult shepherd while strengthening the bond with his new family.

Although it’s clear someone loved Sarge at some point and invested in his early training, we don’t know anything about his past. Like any new dog, he will need time, patience, and a clear routine to help him settle in. Structure and leadership will help him thrive. This lovely lady was in an overcrowded shelter, and just before her time was up, she was rescued by another group dedicated to making sure she's placed in a safe and loving home. That rescue later reached out for help with some of the dogs in their care, and as we all know, teamwork makes the dream work, so MAGSR didn't think twice before stepping forward to assist.

Taffy has been lucky to land in a foster home where she's finally getting the opportunities a young, energetic girl needs. Her amazing fosters have been helping her learn about the joys of being a puppy and taking in the world around her. With her fresh, sponge-like mind, this resilient girl is learning housebreaking, crate training, and polite behaviors that will lay the foundation for a well-mannered adult life. While she is still fine-tuning general manners on leash, she's got a great start and will benefit significantly as all young dogs do from continued training. Living with older rescue dogs, Taffy is quickly learning the ins and outs of pack life. She gets along really well with the other dogs and wouldn't mind landing in a forever home with another friendly pup to play with - or at least more consistent socialization so she can keep learning to speak 'dog'! Highly intelligent and observant, Taffy notices everything around her. She loves adults but struggles around small children. Without a high prey drive, she did well when tested with a cat; in fact, she was more afraid of the cat than anything else. With structure, routine, leadership, and clear expectations from a calm and confident handler, Taffy will blossom into an amazing adult. She'd like to continue her daily physical and mental exercise, all while building and strengthening her bond with her forever family - could that be you?

Woody comes to us under heartbreaking circumstances after his beloved dad passed away. He was deeply loved and well cared for, and it shows in his gentle spirit and joyful nature. Goose is one of those lucky pups whose life could have gone very differently — but thanks to a series of kind hearts and perfect timing, he's safe, loved, and ready for his forever home.

Goose’s journey started before he was even born. His mom, a stray in the South, was found starving and alone. Thankfully, an incredible family took her in, tried everything to find her original home, and when no one came forward, gave her the safety and love she so desperately needed. Just weeks later, she surprised everyone with eight beautiful puppies — Goose being one of them. Goose and his siblings were raised in a warm, loving home with their mom. One by one, his brothers and sisters found homes... and Goose waited. Knowing he deserved a bright future, the family reached out to MAGSR, and a wonderful foster family stepped in to help him take his next steps.

Goose is sweet, curious, and full of potential. He’s great with other dogs and is learning all about the comforts of home life: toys, treats, cozy beds, and couch cuddles. He’s had some exposure to new people and places, but continued socialization will be essential to helping him grow into a confident, well-rounded adult. Like all puppies, Goose will need time, training, and patience. Meet fabulous Frosty from the Winter Litter! This adorable baby is ready to find his forever family. The **Winter Litter—Tundra, Glacier, and Frosty—**joined the MAGSR family a few weeks ago after being rescued from a local cruelty and neglect situation. An advocate reached out to local law enforcement after discovering these puppies were living in conditions that were simply unimaginable. When they arrived, all three were severely emaciated, full of worms, missing patches of fur, and understandably unsure of new people. They urgently needed rescue placement to begin their journey toward safety and healing. Thanks to our incredible foster families, prescribed medications, structured feeding schedules, and strong veterinary support, all three puppies were welcomed into the safety of the MAGSR family.

Frosty is a loving, playful, and intelligent young pup who thrives when both his mind and body are engaged. Like many puppies who lacked early structure, Frosty has benefited greatly from an experienced foster home that has begun teaching him the ins and outs of living in a home environment. Crate training and housebreaking were first on the list, and Frosty has been doing a wonderful job learning these important skills.

Living in an established pack has also given Frosty the opportunity to learn appropriate social skills and understand pack structure—an essential foundation for his long-term success. With a strong desire to please and excellent food motivation, Frosty has begun learning basic expectations. Continued training and consistent opportunities to learn will help him grow into a confident, well-rounded canine citizen. While Frosty is undeniably adorable, it’s important to remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. Hey Everyone, 

I’m Stone, and I’ve had quite the "ruff" journey. After being picked up as a stray in the south, I made my way to the Mid-Atlantic so that I would have a real chance at a forever home at least that's what they told me. To be honest, I had been feeling a little lost and low; it just seemed like nothing was going my way. But, those days are behind me now, and I’m ready for my next chapter. I’m about four years old, up-to-date on all my vaccines, and loving life again. Especially, since I found my way to the MAGSR family. 

Although it's clear I am one handsome dude, I’m also a total social butterfly—I love people and always want to be part of the action. With what they say is a solid foundation of social skills, whatever that means, I get lots of opportunities to meet new people and dogs too. Sometimes, I even attend doggy daycare where I enjoy my time with a variety of doggy personalities. As a southern guy, I’m getting used to the colder weather up north, and I can’t wait to see my first snow! I just know I’m going to love it who wouldn't, right? Just like all shepherds, I’ll thrive with training and consistency, and I’m eager to learn and make my humans proud. Since I'm an active guy, I’ll do best in a home with a yard to play in, where I can stretch my legs, chase toys, and enjoy the sunshine.

Shania, along with her sisters Reba and Lainey, came from an accidental litter. We are lovingly calling them the Country Puppies. Born without the resources or care they needed, the girls spent their early days living outside without consistent attention or guidance. Recognizing that the puppies deserved a safer, healthier start, their owner made the responsible decision to surrender them to MAGSR. This opened the door for each girl to grow into a confident, stable adult with the support of a loving family.

Shania is a brave little sweetheart with a big heart and an even bigger desire for love. Despite her tough beginnings, she’s discovering just how wonderful the world can be—one cuddle, treat, and wagging tail at a time. Curious, affectionate, and looking for direction, she’s finally experiencing the positive moments she missed early on. Shania can be a little shy with new people and unfamiliar environments. She’s still learning that new experiences can be fun and that people are typically kind. Her foster family is working diligently to help her build confidence, and she is responding beautifully to their leadership. As with all shepherds, training will go a long way in helping Shania grow. It will not only teach her the skills she needs to be a good canine citizen, but also help her form a strong, trusting bond with her forever family. With time, patience, and consistent guidance, Shania is opening up and showing her people her truly amazing personality.

Having lived with several dogs in her previous home, Shania is dog-friendly and people-friendly. We don’t yet know how she’ll do with cats or other small furry friends, but time will tell. As adorable as she is, Shania is still very much a puppy. She will whine, have accidents, and entertain you with endless puppy antics. But with training, routine, and plenty of opportunities to learn, Shania will grow into an incredible adult dog. Her foster family has been working hard to build a strong foundation of skills, and she’s ready to continue her journey with a family who can provide the structure, routine, and encouragement she needs to thrive. 'Dashing Deacon’ was found prancing along the streets as a stray. Deacon is a devilishly handsome (possible SuperModel status) fella who is a two-and-a-half-year-old stunner of a long-haired black and red GSD looking for his ‘fur-ever’ family. Over time we have had the chance to get to know Deacon. With this knowledge has come a strong understanding of just how clever this boy is (and how much of a natural leader he is!). As a result, Deacon will only be placed with an experienced and assertive handler to help him become a strong, confident, and obedient companion. This striking boy has a strong personality and appreciates clear guidance from his people. Though he can be willful when he knows what he wants, Deacon is ready to channel his charm into becoming a model canine citizen. Already equipped with a solid training foundation, Deacon is looking for someone who will continue that training to build a confident and healthy bond. In fact, Deacon already knows his basic commands and then some. He can't wait to continue this process and may even be a good match for agility, fly ball, or scent work.

As a young, active shepherd, Deacon is looking for a family that can exercise his body and his mind on a daily basis. True of all shepherds, pent up energy can result in unwanted behaviors. He is the epitome of the saying - "A tired dog is a good dog." Excited to match with a family that will provide daily opportunities to run, play, and train, Deacon will thrive with a routine that provides mental enrichment. Well versed with a variety of toys, this majestic fluffball absolutely loves soccer balls, lacrosse balls, squeaky balls, textured balls, really any ball he can chase and chew on! He also loves bones.. but sometimes he needs an extra reminder or two when asked to give them back! Deacon loves playing tug of war with his toys, wrestling with his humans, and he even does great at doggy day care. However, as is true of all dogs, it is important that Deacon develop relationships with other dogs in controlled settings over a period of time. 

From time to time, Deacon is surprised by sudden movements and sounds; this often results in anxiety. With a clear understanding of Deacon's energy level and needs, his ideal match will not live in a city or busy neighborhood. A calmer, less hectic environment is key to Deacon's success. He prefers this type of environment to feel safe and secure. While the city-slickin' life may not be for him, we know he has the ability to thrive in a quieter, more spacious environment. While Deacon may have a few special requirements in our book, that is because he is a special guy just waiting for the right family to pick him up and take him to his FUREVER home! Lovely Zazoo lived in a loving home with kids and another dog. Unfortunately, when the family was unable to remain in their home, they could not find housing that would allow them to keep their dogs. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender the dogs to a local shelter. This is never an easy decision. However, sometimes families have simply run out of options. Shelter staff welcomed Zazoo into their care and made sure she had everything she needed to meet with success. Unfortunately, with shelters sitting at or above capacity, staff knew that Zazoo would be most successful if she was placed within a breed specific rescue. Knowing Zazoo would be a great addition to the MAGSR family, our team was thrilled to welcome her. 

Zazoo is a stunning girl. Friendly, active, and smart this lady truly embodies the traits of a GSD. As is true of most shepherds, Zazoo will be most successful in a home that will exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. This will help her maintain her stable and confident personality. Having lived in a home previously, Zazoo did well with the children in the home. However, as is typical of the breed, she can be protective of the household. With some clear prey drive in place, Zazoo is not suited for a home with small animals or cats. She is already housebroken, crate trained, and knows many of the ins and outs of living in a home. It is important that her forever family, provide her with structure, routine, and leadership so that Zazoo can adapt to the expectations of her forever home. Charming Canela has already lived quite the story for such a young pup. Originally picked up as a stray in a big southern city, she was brought to an animal shelter where it seemed she had found her happily ever after. But life had other plans — about a year and a half later, Canela was found wandering the streets once again. Thin, in need of care, and clearly having spent too long on her own, she returned to the shelter where staff helped her begin to heal. As shelter numbers rose and options ran out, Canela’s future looked uncertain. But fate stepped in just in time — thanks to the compassion of several rescue groups, volunteers, and a loving foster, Canela was saved and welcomed into the MAGSR family.

Since then, Canela has been thriving. She was initially placed with a wonderful temp foster family. They ensured she received the medical attention and love she needed, and even helped her take her first flight north to a new beginning! Knowing that Canela would benefit from continued support within a knowledgeable placement, she was placed with one of our amazing foster families. Canela is a gentle, affectionate girl who can be a little shy at first. It’s clear she hasn’t always known consistent love, but with patience and understanding, her warm, loving personality shines through. She’s learning the joys of being part of a home — things like structure, routine, and kindness have helped her blossom beautifully.

Lainey, along with her sisters Reba and Shania, came from an accidental litter. Born without the resources or care they needed, the girls spent their early days living outside without consistent attention or guidance. Recognizing that the puppies deserved a safer, healthier start, their owner made the responsible decision to surrender them to MAGSR. This opened the door for each girl to grow into a confident, stable adult with the support of a loving family.

Lainey is a brave little sweetheart with a big heart and an even bigger desire for love. Despite a tough beginning, she’s discovering just how wonderful the world can be—one cuddle, treat, and wagging tail at a time. Curious, affectionate, and eager to bond, she’s finally experiencing the positive moments she missed early on. Lainey absolutely loves people. She adores her foster family and has done well meeting extended family members. True to the shepherd personality, Lainey is a loyal little shadow—never far from her people and always keeping a close eye on them. She’s still learning that her humans can handle things on their own, so she may be a bit talkative with new visitors until she knows her family is safe. Her foster family is working diligently to help her build confidence, understand boundaries, and look to her handler for direction.

As with all shepherds, training will play a vital role in helping Lainey grow.
