Description

Stunning Suzie and her buddy, Bubba, were picked up as strays in the south. Although both dogs were friendly, when the pair arrived in an overcrowded shelter they were on borrowed time. Unfortunately, with numbers at critical levels in most places, many shelters are struggling to keep up with the number of animals needing placement. Hoping to ensure that as many animals as possible make it out alive, shelter staff are doing everything they can to transfer dogs to reputable groups. When Suzie and Bubba were not claimed by a family, they were both placed on the list to be euthanized. Knowing that these dogs deserved the chance to move forward, a plea went out to the GSD community for help. Although we were also sitting near capacity, we knew both dogs were out of options. Team MAGSR began working with other groups in the area to pull both dogs to safety at the last second.

Suzie is a stunning girl. Intelligent, active, and friendly, she is an adventurous girl with plenty of shepherd energy. As is typical of the breed, Suzie is looking for a forever family that will exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. This will help her develop the stability and confidence needed to become a good canine citizen. In many ways a blank slate, Suzie does not yet know general leash or household expectations. However, as a praise and food motivated girl, we know Suzie will pick up these skills quickly. Our volunteers have already begun working with Suzie to begin this process. As she moves forward, training will be critical to her success. Not only will training help Suzie develop a healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to meet with success. Suzie is looking for an active forever family that will provide her with the structure, routine, and leadership that all GSDs crave. If this special girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!

Description

Marley and her seven incredible Disney puppies (Jasmine, Eric, Phillip, Aladdin, Aurora, Ariel, and Belle) were dumped at a shelter that was over-capacity. Although Marley is an incredible mom who was doing everything to help her babies grow, a crowded shelter environment is not a safe place for any animal, particularly a young family. Recognizing that Marley and her babies needed help and fast, the shelter immediately sent out a plea for help. As puppy season is in full swing, many rescues have been inundated with puppies. This situation has further elevated the importance of spaying and neutering pets as the number of homeless animals is simply unsustainable. Rescues want to help; however, many groups are just as overwhelmed as the shelters. Fortunately, MAGSR's incredible team came together to help Marley and her pups move forward in the safety of the rescue family.

The Disney puppies and their phenomenal mother, Marley, have been living with one of our amazing foster families. Surrounded by loving and caring people, each member of the family has had all that they needed and more. These babies have had endless opportunities to learn, grow, and explore. This socialization is essential to their success. As the Disney puppies move forward, their families will need to continue to socialize them with varied people, animals, and in different environments. This will help all of the babies develop into stable and confident adults. Although they are being raised together, each of these babies has unique qualities. Aurora is the smallest of the litter, but she is also the bravest of the bunch. Ready to explore the world to its fullest, Aurora is a mighty little lady. Although Aurora is precious as can be, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience and routine, we know that Aurora will develop into a good canine citizen. If your household is ready to welcome this little love into your home, please ask to meet her today!

Aurora may be the smallest but she is the mightest!

Mattis

Adopted: 06/01/2024!

Gender: Male

Breed: German Shepherd Mix

Color: Black, Tan & White

Current Size: 72 lbs

Ideal/Potential Size: 72 lbs

Housebroken: Yes

Obedience Trained: No

Living with: Kennel

History: Return

Good with Kids: Older kids, over 16

Good with Cats: Unknown

Description

Mattis was adopted out as a puppy from MAGSR. He attended puppy classes and grew into a big and intelligent guy. Mattis' family could no longer provide him with the type of care, attention, and living conditions that he needed to thrive. As a result, he was returned to the MAGSR so that we could find him the perfect forever family. We promised Mattis that we would find the right place for him as he moves forward.

Mattis is a big, handsome, and intelligent guy. Unfortunately, his medical needs were not addressed as expected so he arrived back in our care needing some support. With unaddressed skin issues, Mattis was very uncomfortable and required immediate veterinary support. We have begun working with our amazing vetting partners to help soothe Mattis' skin and bring him relief. He is receiving medication and baths and is already showing improvements. As we determine the root cause of Mattis' skin condition, we will make sure that he remains comfortable moving forward.

Having lived in a household, Mattis understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. He is housebroken and crate trained. However, as is true of any new dog, he will need time to adjust to the expectations and routines of his forever family. With some more prominent classic GSD traits, such as guarding of the property, Mattis will thrive in a home that provides him with structure, routine, and leadership. Clearly responsive to a calm and confident handler, Mattis is looking for a more experienced household that understands the breed. Although we are beginning to provide Mattis with an understanding of basic commands, it is essential that his forever family takes him to training. Training will not only help Mattis develop into a good canine citizen, but it will also help him develop a strong, healthy bond with his forever family. Mattis is looking for a loving and active household that will keep him safe and loved. Could that family be you?

Updates:
Mattis has been in foster for 3 weeks now.  He comes when called,  is very aware of the house rules, and he gets along with his housemates.   He is good walking on a leash in the neighborhood but is still a little afraid of trash cans, not noises or cars. , Mattis is doing very well in his foster home.  He knows all his basic commands (sit, down, come, touch, stay) and is working on reliably doing them when asked.  He loves training time, so I'm sure he'll learn in no time flat.  He does very well in a home with clear communication and lots of structure.  In our home, he takes corrections very well, learns quickly, respects boundaries set by the humans, and is probably the most well behaved house guest we've had to date.  He's crate trained, good on the leash, calm with dogs and small animals on walks, and allows our bossy resident GSD to be the one in charge.  He's a bit more mouthy than is ideal, so we're working on that.  He's not allowed on furniture in our home, but he's made it clear he'd love to snuggle on the couch if allowed.  All in all, this boy is a big cuddle bug who is working on learning he's too big to be a lap dog.  Think this very special boy might be a good fit for you?  Check out the videos of him working on recall and playing gently with his toy!

The Neverland puppies are playful, interactive, and social puppies. Description

Amazing Andora and her "A Litter" puppies (Annette, Aime, and Abu) were dumped at a crowded shelter. With limited resources and overwhelming numbers, the shelter could not provide for this family. Although they did everything they could to help all members of the family move forward, shelter staff knew that without rescue help, this family would likely be euthanized as spaces are simply not available. Fortunately, rescue groups began working together to help the entire family move forward safely. When asked if we could provide a safe place to land, we were lucky to be able to team up with another local group in order to ensure that all members of the family moved forward safely.

Andora and her babies are friendly, interactive, and beyond lovable. Aime is playful, interactive, and an amazing cuddler. She is curious about the world around her and loves an adventure. A big fan of toys, Aime loves all things, rolly, squeaky, and crunchy. She is hoping her forever family has plenty of toys to keep her occupied. Living in a foster home with other dogs and cats, Aime is lucky to be gaining experiences with a variety of other creatures. As this little girl moves forward it is critical that her forever family continues to provide Aime with opportunities to socialize with new people, other animals, and in new environments. This will help Aime develop into a stable and confident adult dog. Although Aime is a doll, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience, and socialization, we are sure that Aime will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to be. If Aime sounds like the right match for your family, put in your application today! The "A Litter" puppies will be available for adoption as of May 1st.

Updates:

It is impossible to keep from smiling with her near.  Ready to try new adventures and already well socialized, Aime has done incredibly well with other animals and kids! She, like her sister, has an impressive personality for such a little pup. With structure and routine established in her foster home, Aime has been making huge strides with housebreaking and crate training. She has quickly discovered that the outside is for taking bathroom breaks and does her business quickly. Of course, romping around a bit after business is complete is a well deserved treat. Not afraid to learn new things, Aime has learned the joys of new toys, new environments, and has even discovered the excitement of going up and down the stairs. Her puppy antics simply fill the home with giggles and joy. Aime is looking for an incredible forever family of her very own. Description

Handsome Hank was brought home as a puppy. His family loved him a lot, but due to a change in circumstances, they needed to rehome Hank. Recognizing that Hank deserved every opportunity to meet with success, his family reached out to MAGSR to see if we could help Hank move forward. How could we possibly say no to this big, goofy boy.

Hank is playful, energetic, and looking for a leader. In many ways, Hank is your typical puppy. He loves toys, bouncing around, and interacting with his people. Well socialized with other people, Hank is comfortable meeting new people, but he does still need to learn a few rules, such as, the importance of keeping his paws on the ground. Clearly food motivated, this guy picks up new expectations quickly. He does very well with a clear, confident, and calm handler. As is true of all shepherds, Hank will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. He is hoping to find a forever family that will exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. Some time to play with toys also sounds like an ideal day to Hank. As Hank moves forward, it is essential that he participates in training. Not only will training help Hank create a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Hank is looking for a forever family that will cherish him for a lifetime. Could that family be with you?

Description

Midnight was picked up as a stray. He was brought to a shelter while he waited for his family to come and claim him. Although this sweet guy waited patiently, no one stepped forward for him. As shelters are struggling to meet the overwhelming needs within their communities, unfortunately, many dogs are euthanized as stray holds end. With an amazing personality, shelter staff worried that Midnight wouldn't survive if help didn't arrive fast. He was immediately a staff favorite. He was so even-tempered and well-socialized that the shelter staff would use him as a dog tester for the other shelter dogs. Recognizing that a rescue could find a good home for him, the call for help was sent out. Team MAGSR knew that Midnight was special; we welcomed him to the family and promised to find him an amazing home.

Unfortunately, we have just discovered that he is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he was kept on monthly preventatives. Heartworm treatment is expensive. However, we know that Midnight is more than worth the cost. He will be undergoing heartworm treatment and taking it easy over the next few months. Please consider donating to Midnight's care. Not only will your donation help Midnight move forward, but it will help us continue to welcome dogs with medical needs. Midnight is hoping to find an incredible forever family that will have the time, patience, and leadership needed to help him succeed. If Midnight sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!

Description

Lolly is nothing short of a survivor. This girl was picked up as a stray with another female dog who it was assumed was her sister and brought to a crowded shelter. Both girls were in poor condition. Emaciated, missing fur, covered in a skin sores, and heartworm positive, they entered the shelter just as a distemper outbreak occurred. Although both girls were very sweet, they were quickly added to the list for euthanasia. Luckily, they were pulled from the euthanasia room at the last second by another rescue when an incredible foster stepped up to help. Not all fosters are ready for one dog, but this one was open to two.

The girls were tightly bonded and were lucky to leave with their lives. Shortly after they arrived in care, Lolly's sister popped positive with distemper. This virus is often extremely challenging and takes many lives. Although she fought hard, Lolly's sister did not survive leaving Lolly alone and grieving. Her foster made sure Lolly had everything she needed to keep moving forward. He quarantined Lolly to make sure that she did not come down with the virus, kept her company, and began addressing her other medical needs. With her skin issues addressed, her weight back up where it belongs, and her heartworm's gone, Lolly has made huge strides. After months of recovery, Lolly is ready to find a forever family of her very own thanks to the love and support of her foster dad.

Lovely Lolly is an interactive girl. She enjoys the company of her human and canine companions. Now that she can be a dog, Lolly enjoys romping around outside. She has learned the joys of toys and a comfortable bed. Having lived with a foster for the last several months, Lolly has also been learning the ins and outs of living in a home. However, as is true of any new dog, this girl will need a chance to adjust to the routines and expectations of her forever family. A home with clear routines, structure, and leadership will help her thrive. Training will also go a long way with Lolly. Not only will training help her bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Lolly is looking for that special family that will cherish her for a lifetime. Could that be with you?

Updates:
Lolly is still decompressing- she is very sweet, affectionate and wants to be a small lap dog- but she can’t because she is too big!  This southern cutie came up in the freezing cold and is handling her transition changes very well.  She discovered she enjoys snow, and it tastes good! Lolly is house trained, and is doing well with crate training. She is enjoying being with other dogs around her size.  This is one food motivated pup which will be good for the basic training she was never taught.

Unfortunately, the shelter, like so many others, was sitting at critical capacity and knew they needed help moving the babies forward. Recognizing that a rescue would be the best option for these babies, a plea went out to GSD rescues up and down the coast for help. With puppy season in full swing, many groups are inundated with babies needing a safe place to move forward. When asked if we could welcome this group to the family, team MAGSR stepped forward.

The Neverland puppies are playful, interactive, and social puppies. Although they did not have the easiest start, they have had many different people in their corner since their arrival at the shelter. In the last few weeks, these babies have had many opportunities to start socializing with new people and in a variety of situations. Socialization is essential to their success; it is critical to their forever families continue this process. Living with some of our amazing foster families, these babies are learning the ins and outs of living in a home. They are learning all about the joys of good food, daily playtime, structure and routine. Although Hook and his siblings are beyond precious, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, and patience, we know that the Neverland Litter will grow up to become good canine citizens. If your family is ready to welcome handsome Hook into your home, ask to meet him today.

Abu is a little ball of joyful puppy energy. Interactive, curious, and ready for an adventure, Abu can't wait to explore everything in his environment. A toy aficionado, Abu, like his sisters, loves all things, rolly, squeaky, and crunchy. He is hoping his forever family has plenty of toys to keep him occupied for hours. Living in a foster home with other dogs and having already been exposed to cats, Abu is lucky to be gaining experiences with a variety of other creatures. As the little guy moves forward it is critical that his forever family continues to provide Abu with opportunities to socialize with new people, other animals, and in new environments. This will help Abu develop into a stable and confident adult dog. Although Abu is a charmer, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience, and socialization, we are sure that Abu will develop into the good canine citizen we know he is destined to be. If Abu sounds like the right match for your family, put in your application today! The "A Litter" puppies will be available for adoption as of May 1st.

Updates:
Abu was adopted as a puppy into an incredible family that adored him. They recognized early on that Abu was showing prey drive, toy drive, and needed additional social support in controlled settings. Recognizing that training would be key to his success, they found a trainer that understood working breeds and began building a foundation for success. Although they took all of the right steps, Abu proved to be a little too much for their household. Knowing that a better match was out there for Abu, his family surrendered him back to MAGSR so that we could help him find that perfect family. We know this was an incredibly difficult decision. However, they did what they knew was best for their sweet boy. Abu is an active, affectionate, and agile pup. Ready to take on the world, this boy has endless energy and drive. He must be placed with an active family that will exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. Abu loves trying new things particularly when food or praise is involved. In many ways he can be a firecracker with a strong will to please. With a strong and spirited personality, Abu can be very reactive with new creatures and in new environments. As Abu was building a foundation with a trainer prior to his return, our team decided that he would be most successful if we continued to build that foundation for success. As a result, he has been placed with one of our incredible training partners to continue this process. Over the last few weeks, Abu has been building a solid foundation for doggy manners. It is believed that his reactivity is largely fear-based. As a result, training and confidence building will be key to his success. Abu does very well with a good balance of work and play. He is developing key skills while also enjoying daily farm walks and plenty of playtime. Having lived in a home, Abu is crate trained and house broken. He loves adventures and is very well behaved when in the car. Abu will continue to work with one of our trainers to further solidify his foundational skills over the next few weeks. When ready, Abu will be looking for a family that will provide him with the structure, routine, and daily opportunities to meet with success. If this handsome little "pocket rocket" is the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!

Jake is a big, handsome guy. It is clear that he has been well socialized and enjoys the company of people and other animals. As a young, working-line shepherd, Jake has boundless energy. Description

Full-loving Patterson is the life of the party. This handsome guy was picked up as a stray in the south. Although he waited for his family to reclaim him, no one came forward. Shelter staff immediately recognized that this goofy boy would be an incredible candidate for a loving home so that placed him up for adoption. Patterson waited patiently again for the right family. However, with overwhelming numbers of animals entering the shelter every day, Patterson was on borrowed time. Staff members did everything they could to help Patterson find a loving forever home. Unfortunately, many dogs come into shelters over capacity but fewer make it out. At the last second we learned about Patterson's likely fate. Fortunately, with the help of some other groups, we were able to bring this guy to safety so that he can find the adoring forever family we know is waiting for him.

Patterson is a friendly fellow who has earned the title social butterfly in playgroups. He seems to expertly avoid conflicts within groups and makes fast friends with other canine companions. A master gamer, this boy can turn just about anything into a game guaranteeing endless laughter and entertainment. Known for his delightful zoomie sessions, Patterson is a nice mix of playfulness and affection. True of most shepherds, Patterson likes to take a second to initiate new relationships with people. However, once comfortable, he is friendly and silly with his people. An energetic guy, this boy is looking for an active family that will help him exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. Playful and silly, Patterson tries to find the fun in all situations. It is important that his forever family provide him with the structure, routine, and leadership needed to meet with success. With time, patience, structure, and training, we know Patterson will meet with success. If you are looking for an adventurous guy to bring endless laughs and a good snuggle into your home, ask to meet Patterson today!

Updates:
Pockets is an amazing little girl. Of all the puppies her foster parents have fostered over the past 10+ years, Pockets is the FIRST to not only teach herself how to go UP and DOWN the stairs (whhaaat?) but also she is probably 90% potty trained- again, all on her own! She uses her foster sister and brothers as guides for knowing What To Do, and loves to play. She is still working on basic commands (sit, stay). She is incredibly smart and would do well in an environment with a lot of stimulation, or maybe even as a service dog!!! She definitely needs to be around other dogs, so her foster parents highly recommend she go to a house with other dogs she can play with.

Description

Handsome Granite was picked up as a stray in a busy city. Although he was very good with staff members at the shelter, due to overwhelming numbers of dogs needing placement Granite was placed on the list to be euthanized. Fortunately, another rescue was visiting the shelter to meet some other dogs when they came upon Granite. Knowing we were hoping to help this guy move forward before it was too late, they evaluated him and helped him move safely into the MAGSR family. Teamwork really does save lives.

Granite is currently living with an amazing foster family. They are giving him endless opportunities to meet with success in a safe and patient environment. Although Granite enjoys his people, it is clear that he hasn't always been treated kindly. He can be a little jumpy with new people, particularly if they bring their hands up over his head. With a little time and patience, Granite warms up nicely and can't wait to play, interact, and snuggle. Although we do not know much about Granite's past, we do know that his future is bright. He is currently learning the ins and outs of living in a household. It is highly evident that this guy is a quick learner and is excited to be in a home. Like all new dogs, Granite will need some time to adjust to the structure, routines, and expectations of his forever family. However, he is currently building a good foundation. Granite, like all GSDs, will benefit greatly from training. Not only will training help him build a strong relationship with his forever family, but it will also help him build the skills and confidence needed to become a good canine citizen.

Unfortunately, we have learned that Granite is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have easily been avoided if he had been kept on monthly heartworm preventatives. Although treatment is expensive, we know that Granite is more than worth the cost. Already in the beginning stages of treatment, we are committed to helping Granite receive the medical care needed to move forward safely. Please consider donating to Granite's care as this will not only help us meet his needs, but it will also help us meet the needs of other dogs with medical needs. Granite will need to take it easy over the next few months while he undergoes treatment. If this handsome guy sounds like a good match for your family, ask to meet him today!

Belle is definitely the Belle of the ball. She greatly enjoys socializing with all of her brothers and sisters. However, after a good party, she is beyond content to settle in for a good cuddle. Although Belle is a doll, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience and routine, we know that Belle will develop into a good canine citizen. If your household is ready to welcome this little love into your home, please ask to meet her today!
