Adopted MAGSR Dogs

Indie's family loved him dearly. Unfortunately, they fell on hard times and were no longer able to care for him. Knowing he deserved a forever family that could meet all of his needs, Indie's family surrendered him to shelter hoping he would find a loving home. Although shelter staff greatly enjoyed Indie, they recognized that shepherds struggle at shelters. In order to give Indie his best chance at finding the right match, they transferred Indie to MAGSR. 

Indie is a young, curious, and playful guy. He is interested in learning all about the world around him. When given a little time to adjust to his surroundings, he warms up well to new people and situations. A big fan of the snow, Indie will happily play, bounce, and romp around. As Indie is an energetic guy, it will be important that his new family not only exercise his body, but that they also exercise his mind. Indie will benefit greatly from training. Lovely Koda Mae was found as a stray during some of the ice storms Maryland experienced this year. Although attempts were made to find her family, no one stepped up to claim Koda Mae. As Koda Mae was found in a small community, animal control had concerns that this little girl was dumped out in the elements on purpose. 

Koda Mae is looking for a loving forever family who will commit to her for a lifetime. As a high drive girl, Koda Mae is all about the ball. It is the perfect training tool and Koda Mae is more than happy to comply. Already knowing a few commands, such as, sit and down, this girl will excel in training. Not only will training help her further develop her skills but it will also help her bond appropriately with her new family. Cloud and his sister Kat were surrendered to a shelter when their owner could no longer keep them safe. With extreme cases of overcrowding in shelters in the south right now due to the unprecedented weather they are experiencing, shelters are pleading for rescues to help move dogs to safety. When asked to help Cloud and Kat move forward, we immediately welcomed them into the MAGSR family. 

Cloud, like his sister Kat, is social and friendly. It is highly evident that his family loved him and worked hard to keep him socialized. His wiggly personality quickly wins over the hearts of everyone around him. Although we know that Cloud had a family, we do know know if he was kept as an inside or an outside dog. Erica was picked up in the south and brought to a local shelter. Shelter staff immediately fell in love with this delightful girl and started pleading for a rescue placement. Fortunately, we were able to step forward and welcome this lovely girl into the MAGSR family.

Erica is the definition of gentle giant. She is easy to walk on leash and friendly with everyone she meets. Erica rides well in the car but is still learning the best way to get up into larger vehicles. We are still getting to know this big, beautiful girl and will post updates soon. Lizzo is a survivor. After using her for puppies, Lizzo's owner decided that owning her wasn't advantageous anymore. As a result, he gave her away to  someone in the community who left her outside to roam. Without proper care, housing, or food, Lizzo began wandering about the community. Although it was unsafe, Lizzo started regularly running through town to return to her previous residence where a furry friend still resided. Fortunately, a good Samaritan became aware of Lizzo's suffering and was able to arrange for Lizzo to be released to a local rescue in the south. Recognizing that Lizzo would have her best chance at finding the forever home in another region, she was transferred to MAGSR. Although we are still getting to know Lizzo, it is clear that even with all the suffering she has endured that she is an incredible dog. As is true of any dog, Lizzo will thrive in a stable household that will provide her with love, guidance and leadership. As we have the opportunity to learn more about Lizzo, we will post updates. Delta is one of the Greek puppies. She and her siblings - Zeta, Tau, and Kappa are little survivors. They arrived in MAGSR's care after their owner surrendered them to a shelter as the litter had all contracted parvo. Having no vaccines on board already, underweight, and lacking some basic care, these pups needed to fight and fight hard to survive. Unfortunately, three of Delta's litter mates were unable to overcome this hoffiying disease. 

Having survived parvo, Delta is a super puppy. She cannot ever contract this disease again. Ready to move onto a life of love, cuddles, and playtime, Delta is excited to meet her forever family. Fortunately, the Nature puppies were in good hands and able to fight. Many members of this litter survived.

Ruger was well loved by his family. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control, Ruger's family needed to find him a new home. When asked if we could help Ruger find the right match, MAGSR was happy to step up to the plate.

Ruger is in many ways a typical GSD puppy. He is busy, playful, and full of energy. His family did a nice job of providing him with opportunities to socialize which will help him develop into a more balanced dog. Continued socialization is critical as Ruger moves forward. True to the breed, Ruger is already showing some GSD traits and can be protective of the house and unsure of new people. Training, socialization, and leadership are essential for Ruger's success. Sienna was found as a stray in a busy city and sadly no one came to claim her, She is young and playful and did well with other dogs. Sienna is a people pleaser and loves to socialize once comfortable.  Although a little confused as to what all was happening to her, Sienna joined the MAGSR family and has never looked back. Throughout the rescue Sienna is known to be a charmer. Her bouncy, alert, and attentive personality are an immediate draw to everyone around her. 

Sadly, we have learned that she is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if she had been  provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Sienna has already begun her heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Sienna's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Sienna is clearly more than worth the cost. Please consider donating  toward Sienna's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her and other dogs with medical needs. Although Sienna will need to take it slow over the next few months, she will be back to full strength once her treatment is finished. Lovely Dolly was picked up as a stray in the south. Although she waited for her family to reclaim her no one stepped up. Recognizing that sweet Dolly deserved a forever family to call her own, shelter staff reached out to MAGSR for help. Dolly clearly loves her people. She is full of tail wags and hugs. As Dolly is new to MAGSR, we are taking the time to get to know this delightful girl. As we learn more, we will post updates here. Karl was a stray who was picked up and brought to a shelter. Upon arrival it was evident to the shelter staff that Karl was a special guy. He easily won the hearts of shelter staff. Although playful and affectionate, Karl struggled with anxiety in the shelter environment. This is very common for German Shepherds and many other guardian breeds. Recognizing that Karl needed his best chance and finding his forever home, the shelter contacted MAGSR and the rest is history. 

Karl is a handsome guy. He interacts well with dogs and other people. However, he does need slow introductions to new people and situations. Karl's forever family will need to follow a two to three week shut down when he joins their family. This will provide Karl with the opportunity to slowly adjust to his new home. Patience and structure will help Karl learn household routines and settle in more effectively. Karl is looking for a calm household that will help him develop into the stable guy we know he is destined to be. If Karl sounds like a good match for your household, please ask to meet him today. 

Boone is a big, beautiful, energetic dog. He was found as a stray and brought to a shelter. Recognizing that shepherds struggle at shelters, staff members immediately began looking for rescues who could help Boone find a forever home. Although Boone is two, he is in many ways like a big puppy. He is playful, energetic, and doesn't understand that he is a big guy. As is true of many young dogs who have not been provided with structure and routine, Boone still has a lot to learn about being a good canine citizen. He has had very little experience with a leash and will need to learn some of the finer skills of leash etiquette. Boone will benefit greatly from a good training program as it will not only help him bond with his family but it will also help him develop into a good canine citizen. Snowflake's family loved her dearly. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, they could no longer care for her. Although surrendering her was a difficult decision, they knew this gave Snowflake her best chance. We promised Snowflake's family that we would find her the perfect forever home. 

Snowflake is a lovely girl. She is charming and playful when comfortable with her people. Both a fan of the soccer ball and fetch, Snowflake simply brings smiles to those around her. Although this little girl is a doll, she is in need of continued socialization and training. Having had limited experiences within the community, Snowflake will need time, patience, and leadership as she learns about the world around her. Snowflake will thrive in an environment where structure and routine are infused into daily activities. She will do well with a family that understands and has experience with the breed. Sweetie and her siblings, Cupid, Valentine, and Angel, were living outside in a location where their likelihood of survival was significantly diminished each day they remained on the property. With limited food, clean water, shelter, and no vetting, these babies had few options. In addition, hazardous conditions on the property made their prognosis grave. Several of their siblings drowned before rescuers were able to step in and help. With the assistance of other rescues, volunteers, and vets, MAGSR was able to bring these little survivors into the MAGSR family. 

Sweetie is clearly a cutie and her story has quickly won over the hearts and minds of the many people who have helped her along the way. However, Sweetie is a working line dog who will require a special household that will commit to training and socialization. As a high energy breed who needs to have structure, guidance, and constant leadership, Sweetie's family will need to keep both her mind and body exercised on a daily basis. Although Sweet is an incredible dog, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family.
