Description

Mazie and Sadie were well-loved members of their family. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of their control, the girls' family needed to find them a new home. MAGSR was honored to step-up and provide Mazie and Sadie with a safe haven while we looked for the perfect forever for these girls.

Mazie is a special girl. Her family welcomed her home after a breeder considered putting her down after being born with a congenital defect. Although Mazie required a little extra time and support, she was welcomed home to a family that taught her how to walk, play, and interact just like any other dog. Mazie is a little confused by all of the changes in her life. As a result, she needs a little extra time to warm up to new people. However, when provided with leadership and guidance, Mazie warms up to new people and leans in for affection.

If Mazie sounds like a good match for your household, ask to meet her today.

Updates:
Mazie is doing incredibly well in her foster home and has made a lot of progress.  In that time we have found she does great with bath, blow dry and nail trim.  Mazie is not food aggressive, nor is she food motivated but will be enticed with a high value treat such as chicken nugget. She is on a routine and happy to go outside to potty every 4 hours and does well in her crate.   She is on medication to help her with her bladder which she will have an occasional over excited dribble. When at home she likes to play with stuffed toys, balls, and chew on bully stick.  The recent snow accumulations have shown her love of snow and frolicking in it. Exuberantly wants to play with other dogs, teaching/training to play easy, calm and when needed leave it.  She will happily go for a car ride with you and give kisses.  Mazie will howl when she hears firetrucks or sirens.  She is working on sit, stay, off and with me and continued training will allow her to thrive.  Ask to meet Mazie today! , Mazie is currently in board and training for 2 weeks and working on her reaction to some dogs and as well as obedience.  She does well with small dogs but sometimes does not realize her size. She walks well on the leash and loves to be with her person.  She enjoys going for car rides, giving kisses and playing with stuffed toys but should be durable as she will rip them apart.  She does well with kids and adults. She is mostly housebroken with limited accidents due to her medical condition. She will sit pretty for a peanut butter treat.  If you're looking for an all weather type of girl she will gladly walk/run through rain, snow, sleet and does not mind thunderstorms. Luckily she also is very good with getting baths, grooming and being wiped down, for those extra muddy sessions : ).Does Mazie sound like the dog for you?!

Description

Handsome Luca was seen being dumped out of a car a few weeks ago. The good Samaritan that witnessed this act had to make a quick decision - follow the person that dumped Luca or get Luca to safety. Fortunately, Luca's safety was top priority. He was quickly picked-up and brought into the comfort of the good Samaritan's home until animal services could get involved. Once animal services took over, Luca was able to get the care he needed while waiting for a decision about his next placement. Although Luca did well while waiting for his stray hold to end, animal services knew that this big guy would be best placed in a rescue where a GSD savvy home could be found. When asked to welcome Luca into the MAGSR family, we immediately stepped forward.

Luca means bringer of light. This name is quite fitting for this guy as this big, silly, playful guy keeps you smiling with his antics. Luca is a very large boy with a very large personality. He is looking for an experienced household as he portrays some strong GSD traits. As is true of all young shepherds, Luca will benefit from a household that will provide him with the structure, routine, and leadership that shepherds crave. Food and ball motivated, Luca is more than happy to work for treats and attention. In fact, this boy has already begun to learn a few basic commands. Luca knows sit, paw, and down. He also knows to out the ball when asked. Training is essential as Luca needs to learn to trust that this forever family will commit to him for a lifetime. In addition, training will help Luca develop into a stable and confident good canine citizen. If Luca sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

Description

Ralph is a big, handsome, social guy. He likes dogs of varied sizes and has clearly been well socialized. As Ralph is still very young, it is critical that his forever family continue to socialize him appropriately. This will help him develop into a stable dog. As a playful guy, Ralph is looking for an active household that will exercise both his mind and his body on a daily basis. As we do not know anything about Ralph's past, in many ways he is a clean slate. He will benefit from structure, routine, and leadership. Ralph's family will need to make sure that he gets into training early. This will help Ralph bond to his forever family; it will also help him develop the skills and confidence he will need to become a good canine citizen.

Unfortunately, we have learned that Ralph is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if he had been provided with monthly heartworm prevention. MAGSR is beginning Ralph's heartworm treatment. Although treatment is expensive, sweet Ralph is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Ralph's treatment. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Ralph will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished.

If Ralph sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet this boy today.

Updates:
Ralph has been in foster for 2 weeks and has changed so much in a short amount of time.  When Ralph arrived, he seemed to be nervous, unhappy, and a bit fearful.  He quickly attached himself  to his foster mom, but he was standoffish toward the two males in the home.  After one session with a trainer, we learned some techniques to get him to warm up to the males.  After a couple of days, he was a completely different dog!  He is now Mr. Happy Go Lucky and friendly to everyone, including multiple strangers (male and female) who have come to the foster's home in the last week.   Ralph loves other dogs.  He loves his foster brother Vader, and they would play together well if we could let him (we can’t yet because he is heartworm positive).  He sleeps in the crate at night.  He goes in easily (with a treat!),  Ralph is housebroken (as long as you are paying attention to his clue). Ralph is learning to walk on a leash, and is nonreactive when he sees other dogs on our walks.  Ralph has started to learn his commands, such as sit.  He is a smart, fast learner.  He does not chew things he shouldn’t, and occasionally plays with a bone.  Overall, Ralph is a happy, loving dog who would do well with any family.  He craves affection.  His favorite thing is bellyrubs – when we approach him, he often drops to his back to give us the sign!

Jesalyn

Gender: Female

Breed: German Shepherd Mix

Approximate Age: 9 weeks

Color: Black & Tan

Current Size: 7 lbs

Ideal/Potential Size: Large

Housebroken: No, I'm a puppy!

Obedience Trained: No, I'm a puppy!

Living with: Foster

History: Stray to Shelter

Good with Cats: Yes

Other Dogs OK: Yes

Description

Jesalyn and her four sisters - Jesamine, Jesenya, Jesibel, and Jesirae - were found by a good samaritan on the side of the road. Thinking these babies were likely dumped, this kind person collected them all and brought them to an animal clinic to make sure they were safe and healthy. Once medically cleared the pups were taken to a shelter to wait out their stray hold. Although these girls are playful and interactive, the shelter is no place for babies. When asked if we could help these little ladies move forward, we immediately made arrangements to welcome them into the MAGSR family.

Jesalyn is playful, interactive and curious. Within the safety of the MAGSR family, this little girl is just starting to learn about the joys of good food, a soft bed, and a loving household. Jesalyn is ready to move forward with a forever family that will provide her with the love, care, and attention that this little girl so clearly deserves. Although Jesalyn is an absolute doll, please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family. Puppies are full of puppy energy which results in endless puppy antics. They will get into things, whine, and will chew on inappropriate items. With time, training, patience, and socialization, Jesalyn will develop into the good canine citizen we know she is destined to become. Jesalyn is looking for a forever home that will commit to her for a lifetime. Could that family be you?
