Mr. Jack and his housemate, Miss Jackie, were used for puppies. Their lives have been filled with little care, comfort, or kindness. When their owner decided that it was time for them to move on, their future options were very limited. Fortunately, another rescue heard about their situation and reached out to MAGSR for help.
Although we knew that both dogs would need some additional love and attention, we also knew they deserved kindness and compassion. Mr. Jack was shown very little warmth or gentleness prior to his arrival. He was fearful of people as he was unsure of their intentions. Fortunately, with the care and attention of a loving foster home, Mr. Jack has begun to blossom. He seeks out the attention of his foster family and has taken on the role of velcro dog in the household. It is simply amazing what a difference kindness makes even after years of suffering. Although Mr. Jack is an incredible guy, we have learned that he is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had he been properly cared for and provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Mr. Jack has already begun his heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Mr. Jack's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Mr. Jack is clearly more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Mr. Jack's care. Your generosity will help us save him and other dogs with medical needs. Although Mr. Jack will need to take it slow over the next few months, he will be back to full strength once his treatment is finished. If Mr. Jack sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

Winter's family fell on hard times and could no longer provide her with the basic food and shelter she needed. As a result, they made the decision to turn her into a shelter with the hope that she would find a new home. Although done with the best intentions, Winter was overlooked and in an overcrowded shelter this meant she was living on borrowed time. When shelter staff realized she needed out, they contacted MAGSR. We immediately welcomed Winter into rescue.
Winter is a sweetheart; however, she can be timid around new people. Once she warms up, Winter is your typical, young GSD. Good with other dogs, Winter participated in playgroup regularly at the shelter. Although Winter is honey who is ready to find her forever home, we have learned that she is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided if she had been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Winter has already begun her heartworm treatment and is doing well. The cost of Winter's entire treatment will be covered by MAGSR. Treatment is expensive, but Winter is clearly more than worth the cost. Please consider donating toward Winter's treatment. Your generosity will help us save her and other dogs with medical needs. Although Winter will need to take it slow over the next few months, she will be back to full strength once her treatment is finished. If your household is ready to provide Winter with the leadership and love she craves, ask to meet her today.

As Trena has endured a difficult life, it can take her a little time to warm up to new people and circumstances. Her reactions and responses make it clear that she has been abused. When welcomed into her foster family, Trena would lay in the corner scared and shaking. Although fear seemed to consume this lovely lady, with love, patience, and a little help from her furry foster brother - Camden, Trena began making strides. Trena enjoys her daily walks and seems happiest when playing outside. As she has adjusted to family life, Trena has begun learning some basic commands, developing her playful voice, and housebreaking. Trena will be most successful in a household that will take the time to further build her confidence. She would benefit from a calm and quiet household that would provide the structure and patience Trena needs to meet with further success. If your family can provide Trena with the love and support she will need to continue to move forward, please ask to meet her today.

Captain found himself at a local shelter when he began getting nervous around the toddler in the household. Although Captain never tried to hurt the toddler, the family felt that it was safer for all involved to rehome Captain. Having spent his entire life with his previous family, Captain is a little unsure about all of the sudden changes in his life.
Captain is a playful, ball driven guy. Having lived in a household his entire life, Captain is housebroken and crate trained. He also knows some basic commands. As is true of most shepherds, Captain can be protective of his people and will need to learn to trust that his new family will set him up for success. Training will be an important part of the bonding process for Captain and his new family. Captain is looking for a forever home that will commit to him for a lifetime. Could that be you?

Raina is your typical young, energetic shepherd. In many ways she embodies the characteristics of most shepherds - curious, eager, and loyal. Raina has lived with a cat and interacted with small dogs prior to her arrival at MAGSR. She is very playful which could be a little much for the cat in her household. Affectionate and sweet, Raina has done well when meeting new people but can become a little too exuberant and get jumpy. Both crate trained and housebroken, Raina understands many of the household rules; however, as is true of any new dog, she will need time to adjust to the routines of a new household. Raina will benefit from a household that will provide her with the structure, leadership, and training that helps all dogs excel. If you feel like your household is a good match for Raina, please ask to meet her today!
