The Fall puppies - Autumn, Cider, Ember, Maple, Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato (Tator) - were an accidental litter. Raised together with their parents, these dogs have had the chance to learn many doggy social skills. Although their human family enjoyed the puppies, it can be difficult to care for a large litter and challenging to find safe and loving homes. Recognizing that the Fall puppies would be most successful if placed within a breed specific rescue, their family contacted MAGSR. We promised that we would find each pup a safe and loving forever family that would cherish these babies for a lifetime. 

The Fall puppies are very large babies for their age. They are clearly big fans of food. Having spent time outside, these babies love the sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors. So, they are hoping their forever families love adventures. Although these babies have been socialized well with their doggy family, they have not been exposed to many new people or situations. Socialization is critical to their success. Recognizing that social skills are essential as the Fall puppies move forward, our amazing volunteers are already beginning this process. Learning the ins and outs of living in a household, these babies are learning the joys of endless toys, comfortable beds, and loads of love. As they continue to move forward, all six babies will strive in households that will provide the structure, routine, and leadership that all shepherds crave. 

Although these babies are absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless antics. With time, training, and patience, all 6 babies - Autumn, Cider, Ember, Maple, Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato - will develop into good canine citizens. 'Dashing Deacon’ was found prancing along the streets as a stray. Deacon is a devilishly handsome (possible SuperModel status) fella who is a two-and-a-half-year-old stunner of a long-haired black and red GSD looking for his ‘fur-ever’ family. Over time we have had the chance to get to know Deacon. With this knowledge has come a strong understanding of just how clever this boy is (and how much of a natural leader he is!). As a result, Deacon will only be placed with an experienced and assertive handler to help him become a strong, confident, and obedient companion. This striking boy has a strong personality and appreciates clear guidance from his people. Though he can be willful when he knows what he wants, Deacon is ready to channel his charm into becoming a model canine citizen. Already equipped with a solid training foundation, Deacon is looking for someone who will continue that training to build a confident and healthy bond. In fact, Deacon already knows his basic commands and then some. He can't wait to continue this process and may even be a good match for agility, fly ball, or scent work.

As a young, active shepherd, Deacon is looking for a family that can exercise his body and his mind on a daily basis. True of all shepherds, pent up energy can result in unwanted behaviors. He is the epitome of the saying - "A tired dog is a good dog." Excited to match with a family that will provide daily opportunities to run, play, and train, Deacon will thrive with a routine that provides mental enrichment. Well versed with a variety of toys, this majestic fluffball absolutely loves soccer balls, lacrosse balls, squeaky balls, textured balls, really any ball he can chase and chew on! He also loves bones.. but sometimes he needs an extra reminder or two when asked to give them back! Deacon loves playing tug of war with his toys, wrestling with his humans, and he even does great at doggy day care. However, as is true of all dogs, it is important that Deacon develop relationships with other dogs in controlled settings over a period of time. 

From time to time, Deacon is surprised by sudden movements and sounds; this often results in anxiety. With a clear understanding of Deacon's energy level and needs, his ideal match will not live in a city or busy neighborhood. A calmer, less hectic environment is key to Deacon's success. He prefers this type of environment to feel safe and secure. While the city-slickin' life may not be for him, we know he has the ability to thrive in a quieter, more spacious environment.
