Description

Amazing Allie was picked up as a stray in the south. Clearly a friendly girl, she was brought to a shelter where she waited for her family to come and claim her. Although she waited patiently, no one came forward for Allie. With many shelters at critical capacity with animals in need, far too many dogs do not make it out alive. Recognizing that Allie was very special, shelter staff began working with rescue organizations to network Allie. Fortunately, word reached MAGSR before it was too late and we were able to welcome Allie to the family.

Allie is a ray of sunshine. She is filled to the brim with joy and happiness. Excited to say hi to everyone she meets, it is impossible to meet this little lady without grinning ear to ear. Affectionate and wiggly, it is beyond obvious that Allie was well socialized with people before her arrival. Allie also seems to enjoy the company of other dogs. She is interactive and playful while reading the body language of the other dog well. As Allie was a stray, we do not know what her experiences were in a household prior to her arrival; however, we do know Allie is a quick learner who is eager to please. With structure, routine, and leadership, Allie is sure to thrive. Training is also an important next step for Allie. Not only will training help Allie build a strong bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.

Unfortunately, we have discovered that Allie is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have easily been avoided with a monthly preventative. Allie's heartworm treatment is beginning. As a result, she will need to take it easy over the next few months. Heartworm treatment is very expensive, but Allie is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Allie's treatment as it will not only help us give her the care she needs, but it will also help us provide medical support to other dogs in need. Allie is looking for a forever family that will love her for a lifetime. If she sounds like the right match for you, ask to meet Allie today.

Updates:
This is a great dog.  She is a Shepherd mixed with breed with a lot more spring in its step and wag in its tail.  She’s a joyful, easy going, and intelligent young girl.  In limited experience with dogs, she’s played very nicely.  In limited experience with children, she’s been friendly, sweet, and gentle.  She’s very comfortable in a crate and is (mostly) house-trained.  She is eager to play but settles very nicely as well.

Description

Stunning Suzie and her buddy, Bubba, were picked up as strays in the south. Although both dogs were friendly, when the pair arrived in an overcrowded shelter they were on borrowed time. Unfortunately, with numbers at critical levels in most places, many shelters are struggling to keep up with the number of animals needing placement. Hoping to ensure that as many animals as possible make it out alive, shelter staff are doing everything they can to transfer dogs to reputable groups. When Suzie and Bubba were not claimed by a family, they were both placed on the list to be euthanized. Knowing that these dogs deserved the chance to move forward, a plea went out to the GSD community for help. Although we were also sitting near capacity, we knew both dogs were out of options. Team MAGSR began working with other groups in the area to pull both dogs to safety at the last second.

Suzie is a stunning girl. Intelligent, active, and friendly, she is an adventurous girl with plenty of shepherd energy. As is typical of the breed, Suzie is looking for a forever family that will exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. This will help her develop the stability and confidence needed to become a good canine citizen. In many ways a blank slate, Suzie does not yet know general leash or household expectations. However, as a praise and food motivated girl, we know Suzie will pick up these skills quickly. Our volunteers have already begun working with Suzie to begin this process. As she moves forward, training will be critical to her success. Not only will training help Suzie develop a healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to meet with success. Suzie is looking for an active forever family that will provide her with the structure, routine, and leadership that all GSDs crave. If this special girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!

Description

Marley and her seven incredible Disney puppies (Jasmine, Eric, Phillip, Aladdin, Aurora, Ariel, and Belle) were dumped at a shelter that was over-capacity. Although Marley is an incredible mom who was doing everything to help her babies grow, a crowded shelter environment is not a safe place for any animal, particularly a young family. Recognizing that Marley and her babies needed help and fast, the shelter immediately sent out a plea for help. As puppy season is in full swing, many rescues have been inundated with puppies. This situation has further elevated the importance of spaying and neutering pets as the number of homeless animals is simply unsustainable. Rescues want to help; however, many groups are just as overwhelmed as the shelters. Fortunately, MAGSR's incredible team came together to help Marley and her pups move forward in the safety of the rescue family.

The Disney puppies and their phenomenal mother, Marley, have been living with one of our amazing foster families. Surrounded by loving and caring people, each member of the family has had all that they needed and more. These babies have had endless opportunities to learn, grow, and explore. This socialization is essential to their success. As the Disney puppies move forward, their families will need to continue to socialize them with varied people, animals, and in different environments. This will help all of the babies develop into stable and confident adults. Although they are being raised together, each of these babies has unique qualities. Aurora is the smallest of the litter, but she is also the bravest of the bunch. Ready to explore the world to its fullest, Aurora is a mighty little lady. Although Aurora is precious as can be, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience and routine, we know that Aurora will develop into a good canine citizen. If your household is ready to welcome this little love into your home, please ask to meet her today!

Aurora may be the smallest but she is the mightest!

Description

Mattis was adopted out as a puppy from MAGSR. He attended puppy classes and grew into a big and intelligent guy. Mattis' family could no longer provide him with the type of care, attention, and living conditions that he needed to thrive. As a result, he was returned to the MAGSR so that we could find him the perfect forever family. We promised Mattis that we would find the right place for him as he moves forward.

Mattis is a big, handsome, and intelligent guy. Unfortunately, his medical needs were not addressed as expected so he arrived back in our care needing some support. With unaddressed skin issues, Mattis was very uncomfortable and required immediate veterinary support. We have begun working with our amazing vetting partners to help soothe Mattis' skin and bring him relief. He is receiving medication and baths and is already showing improvements. As we determine the root cause of Mattis' skin condition, we will make sure that he remains comfortable moving forward.

Having lived in a household, Mattis understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. He is housebroken and crate trained. However, as is true of any new dog, he will need time to adjust to the expectations and routines of his forever family. With some more prominent classic GSD traits, such as guarding of the property, Mattis will thrive in a home that provides him with structure, routine, and leadership. Clearly responsive to a calm and confident handler, Mattis is looking for a more experienced household that understands the breed. Although we are beginning to provide Mattis with an understanding of basic commands, it is essential that his forever family takes him to training. Training will not only help Mattis develop into a good canine citizen, but it will also help him develop a strong, healthy bond with his forever family. Mattis is looking for a loving and active household that will keep him safe and loved. Could that family be you?

Updates:
Mattis has been in foster for 3 weeks now.  He comes when called,  is very aware of the house rules, and he gets along with his housemates.   He is good walking on a leash in the neighborhood but is still a little afraid of trash cans, not noises or cars. , Mattis is doing very well in his foster home.  He knows all his basic commands (sit, down, come, touch, stay) and is working on reliably doing them when asked.  He loves training time, so I'm sure he'll learn in no time flat.  He does very well in a home with clear communication and lots of structure.  In our home, he takes corrections very well, learns quickly, respects boundaries set by the humans, and is probably the most well behaved house guest we've had to date.  He's crate trained, good on the leash, calm with dogs and small animals on walks, and allows our bossy resident GSD to be the one in charge.  He's a bit more mouthy than is ideal, so we're working on that.  He's not allowed on furniture in our home, but he's made it clear he'd love to snuggle on the couch if allowed.  All in all, this boy is a big cuddle bug who is working on learning he's too big to be a lap dog.  Think this very special boy might be a good fit for you?  Check out the videos of him working on recall and playing gently with his toy!

Description

The Neverland Litter (Hook, Pan, Wendy, Tootles, Pockets, Cubby, Nana, Nibs, Rufio, and Tink) was born on a property that is known for breeding and selling puppies. When these babies turned six weeks old, the owner dropped them along with a second litter at a shelter. Unfortunately, the shelter, like so many others, was sitting at critical capacity and knew they needed help moving the babies forward. Recognizing that a rescue would be the best option for these babies, a plea went out to GSD rescues up and down the coast for help. With puppy season in full swing, many groups are inundated with babies needing a safe place to move forward. When asked if we could welcome this group to the family, team MAGSR stepped forward.

The Neverland puppies are playful, interactive, and social puppies. Although they did not have the easiest start, they have had many different people in their corner since their arrival at the shelter. In the last few weeks, these babies have had many opportunities to start socializing with new people and in a variety of situations. Socialization is essential to their success; it is critical to their forever families continue this process. Living with some of our amazing foster families, these babies are learning the ins and outs of living in a home. They are learning all about the joys of good food, daily playtime, structure and routine. Although Cubby and his siblings are beyond precious, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, and patience, we know that the Neverland Litter will grow up to become good canine citizens. If your family is ready to welcome cute Cubby into your home, ask to meet him today.

Updates:
His foster describes him as a velcro puppy. He's always close to his people and a super great cuddler. He is very smart and learning fast.
