Darren was picked up as a stray and brought to an overcrowded shelter. Upon his arrival it was clear that this sweet guy was special. Darren was gentle and affectionate but also very scared. Due to overcrowding, Darren was living on borrowed time and needed help fast. Recognizing that this guy deserved a chance with a forever family, a rescue plea went out. When we learned about Darren's situation, we immediately stepped forward and welcomed Darren to the MAGSR family.
Darren is a gentle and timid soul. A little jumpy with fast movements, it is evident that Darren has survived a lot in his short life much of it may not have always involved a kind hand. However, he remains sweet and affectionate. Darren did very well with staff members at the shelter and seems to appreciate a calm and gentle handler. Darren's family will need to be patient with Darren as he adjusts to his forever family. However, given a little time and kindness, Darren warms up to his people. Darren is looking for a forever family that will provide him with the structure, routine, and leadership that helps all dogs thrive. Training will also go a long way with Darren. Not only will training help Darren develop a strong, healthy bond with his family, but it will also help him develop into a stable and confident canine citizen. Darren is looking for a forever family that will adore him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?

Lovely Kitana was adored by her family. They gave her endless opportunities to socialize with people and other animals which helped her develop a stable and confident personality. However, due to unexpected changes, they could no longer provide her with the life they knew she deserved. Recognizing that Kitana would be most successful if placed within a breed specific rescue, they asked us to welcome Kitana to the MAGSR family. We promised we would find this special girl the perfect forever family.
Kitana is a beautiful, affectionate, and interactive girl. She has an interactive personality and loves everyone she encounters. Kitana is living with one of our amazing foster families. Jess and his ten siblings (the Gilmore puppies) found themselves in an overcrowded shelter in the south. The number of dogs needing placement is simply overwhelming shelters across the country. Unfortunately, these babies, like so many other dogs, were in need of help fast. Recognizing that these babies deserved every opportunity to meet with success, staff at the shelter sent out personal rescue pleas attempting to keep this large family alive. When we heard that the Gilmore puppies needed placement, our incredible team began putting together plans to welcome all eleven babies into the rescue.
The Gilmore puppies are a social, playful, and interactive bunch. They have clearly had opportunities to socialize with people and other animals. However, this process has just begun. It is essential that their forever families continue to provide opportunities to socialize with people and animals in new and safe environments. This will help the Gilmore puppies develop stability and confidence as adult dogs. Training is also critical for these babies as it will not only help them create a healthy bond with their forever families, but it will also help them develop into good canine citizens. The Gilmore puppies have all settled into amazing foster families where they are learning the comforts and routines of living in a home. They are learning about toys, treats, and the joy of a good nap. As they move forward, the Gilmore puppies will be looking for loving forever homes that will continue to provide them with structure, routine, and leadership. Although these babies are cute as can be, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, and training, we are positive these babies will grow into incredible adult dogs. The Gilmore puppies will open for adoption on April 22nd. Although sweet little Zaire is still very young, we don't know much about her first couple of months. We do know that somewhere along the lines something went very wrong as she was found one morning tied to the front door of a shelter in the south. Sweet but understandably a little shy, shelter staff knew that the longer she remained at an overcrowded shelter, the less likely Zaire would be to find a forever home. In order to provide Zaire with every opportunity to move forward safely, shelter staff began working with the rescue community to find a placement. Fortunately, one of our rescue partners heard of Zaire's plea and helped us welcome her to the MAGSR family.
Zaire is an interactive, playful, and social girl. She is learning all about the joys of a comfortable bed, good food, and plenty of toys. Her incredible foster family has begun the important work of teaching Zaire the ins and outs of living in a household. She is a smart little girl and is already beginning to pick up new skills. As Zaire is still very young, her foster family is working hard to support Zaire providing her with opportunities to socialize with people and animals in varied environments. Socialization is critical to Zaire's success. Her forever family will need to continue this process to ensure that Zaire develops into a confident and stable adult dog. Training will also be essential to Zaire's success. Not only will training help Zaire develop a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop into a good canine citizen.
Although Zaire is cute as can be, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, leadership, and structure, they will develop into stable and confident adult dogs. Zaire is looking for an active family that will love her for a lifetime. Kyra and her sister, Basha, were well-loved by their family. However, when a significant change in circumstances altered the family structure, their owner could no longer provide them with the life they deserved. Recognizing that both girls deserved the opportunity to find forever homes that could provide them with everything they needed and more, their family made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye and surrendered them to MAGSR.
Kyra is absolutely stunning. As a working-line shepherd, she is smart, energetic, and looking for an experienced handler. True to the breed, Kyra thrives with structure, routine, and leadership. With clear direction from a confident handler, Kyra meets with success. Having lived in a household, Kyra understands many of the rules and expectations of living in a home. She is housebroken and crate trained. However, as is true of any new dog, she will need time to adjust to the routines of her forever family. With some training already in line, Kyra does know many of her basic commands. However, continued training is critical to Kyra's success. This girl is not a couch potato. She will need daily opportunities to exercise her body and her mind in order to maintain a stable and confident mindset. Kyra is looking for an active forever family that will love her for a lifetime, could that family be you?

Sweet little Bebe and her sister, Bella, were surrendered to a local shelter. Although it was clear that the girls were sweethearts, the shelter environment is a loud and scary place for many dogs, especially puppies. In a constant state of fear and starting to avoid people, shelter staff knew that if the girls remained in the shelter environment much longer, their chances at finding a forever home were limited. Recognizing that the girls were beginning to shut down in their new surroundings, shelter staff made an urgent plea for rescue help. Although we already had several puppies within the rescue, when we heard about Bebe and Bell's situation, we knew we needed to step forward and welcome both girls to the MAGSR family.
Bebe is an absolute doll. However, due to a lack of socialization with new people, new environments, and new animals prior to her arrival in MAGSR's care, she can be hesitant in new situations and needs time to adjust. Bebe is fortunate to be living with an incredible foster family that is working hard to provide her with the opportunity to socialize with new people and other animals. However, it is critical that Bebe's forever family continue this socialization. Bebe is looking for a forever family that will provide her with the structure, routine, and leadership that all dogs crave. Training will go a long way with Bebe. Not only will it help her bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop into a stable and confident adult. The Kentucky Six - Diego, Champ, Serena, Peanut, Evie, and Yogi - are cruelty and neglect survivors. Living in inhumane conditions, starved, and used as breeding stock, the Kentucky Six managed to make it off the property alive when the right people heard about their conditions and got the authorities involved. All six dogs were confiscated and brought to a shelter where they waited for the chance to find kind and loving families of their very own. Although shelter staff worked hard to make sure that all six dogs began getting the care and attention they deserved, they recognized that with shelters at capacity and adoptions limited, these six precious souls may not have the chance to find their forever families. They began working with local groups and started networking the dogs in hopes that rescue placement would be found. Fortunately, their message made its way to MAGSR. Our incredible team knew that this group of dogs was very special, so we began putting plans in place to welcome the Kentucky Six to the MAGSR family.
Although Yogi's life was filled with challenges and suffering prior to his confiscation, he still wants to connect with his people. Intelligent, friendly, and energetic, Yogi is a goofy guy. Still very young, he still has some puppy mannerisms that result in endless smiles. Due to his long hair and the level of neglect he endured, Yogi needed extensive grooming upon arrival to help him get relief from the filth and matting resulting from his circumstances. Although he has endured a lot of suffering, Yogi remains a happy guy. Sometimes we are simply astonished by the resilience of dogs that have been through so much trauma but are still friendly and interactive. As is true of all shepherds, Yogi will thrive when provided with structure, routine, and leadership. In many ways he is still in the beginning stages of his new life. He will need time to adjust to new people, environments, and expectations. However, given patience and opportunities to learn, we are sure that Yogi will continue to discover the joys of being a beloved member of a family. We do not know if Yogi has had much experience living in a household. Clear rules and boundaries will help him settle into his new home. Training will also go a long way for this boy. Not only will training help Yogi develop a strong, healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him become a good canine citizen. Yogi is looking for a forever family that will cherish him for a lifetime. If this playful guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Yogi today!

Bright eyed Amari was given as an unexpected and unwanted gift to a child. Although she was cute as a button, the child's caregiver recognized that puppies require a lot of love, attention, and guidance to become stable, adult dogs. Knowing that this was not something they could do, they began looking for a rescue option for Amari. Fortunately, a rescue network began working together to try to find Amari placement. When MAGSR learned that Amari needed placement, our team immediately stepped forward to help.
Amari is a sweet, energetic, and curious pup. As is typical of her breed, she has endless energy and great drive. Very attentive to the handler, Amari is going to be the star of training class. Having already developed a strong ball drive and a love for playing, Amari is hoping that her forever family has a good throwing arm. Living with an amazing foster family, Amari has already begun to learn the ins and outs of living in a home. She learning how to crate train and housebreak while also developing an understanding of the rules and expectations of the household. A smart girl, she picks up new learning quickly.
Unfortunately, Amari fell very ill after arriving in our care and had to be rushed to the emergency room as she had become lethargic, couldn't hold food down, and was not able to defecate. Knowing that Amari deserved every opportunity to survive, MAGSR made sure Amari got the care she needed. After extensive bloodwork, x-rays, fluids, and an ultrasound, it was determined that Amari needed immediate exploratory surgery for concerns with potential hernias and potential repairs to her bowels. Once surgery began, our incredible veterinary team discovered that Amari was suffering from double hernias that had entangled her bowel and cut off blood flow. Luckily, this was found in time and her surgical team was able to repair both hernias and resect an area of the bowel. Can you help with her care?
Amari has returned to her foster family and is beginning her recovery. We were so lucky to have an incredible team working together to help her survive. However, Amari's medical needs have been very expensive. We need your help. Please consider donating to Amari's medical needs. Not only will this help Amari get the care she needs, but it will also help us help other medical dogs in need. Amari will be recovering with her foster family over the next few weeks. Once healthy, she will be looking for an active family that will help her exercise her body and her mind on a daily basis. If this stunning girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today!

If Emily sounds like the right match for your household, get your application in today!

Just like the endurance of ‘Old Glory’, ‘Our Gal Glory’ is standing strong and searching for a stable surrounding to call her own. Glory is a gorgeous, 3 year old sable that was an owner surrender due to her previous owners not completely understanding the breed and necessities of German Shepherds. Not only will Our Gal Glory need to play a little catch-up in training, but she will need to undergo treatment for heartworms, a condition that could have been easily avoided with the proper care.
As we are still learning about Our Gal Glory, she has been observed as very true to the breed: loyal, strong, eager to please, while craving guidance and structure. So far she has held her own during play-time and has been noted to play rough. Given her strength and temperament, it’s best if Glory is with larger dogs, older children and probably best suited for a family/persons who are familiar with the breed.
Glory is eager to find the right FUR-ever family, and to lead her through the proper training and would thrive in a home where her family is either familiar with German Shepherds or is eager to learn about the temperament of the breed while providing the essentials - training, structure, boundaries, routines, and continued guidance.
Our gal Glory will need some TLC before her ‘Southern Lady Boot Camp’ begins. If Glory sounds like the Southern adventure you would like to blaze trails with, please ask to add her to your family today!
