Delightful Dixie was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. Like so many shelters, the shelter that welcomed Dixie was sitting over capacity. Although shelter staff were doing everything they could to meet the needs of the animals in their care, with numbers significantly over sustainable levels, difficult choices had to be made. Upon her arrival Dixie was at risk to be euthanized; however, she was also quickly winning the hearts of everyone at the shelter. Knowing they likely did not have placement options for Dixie, shelter staff began pleading for rescue help to ensure that Dixie could move forward safely and find a loving family of her very own. When we asked our foster team if they could help Dixie, we were beyond fortunate to have a family step forward.
Dixie is a stunning and sweet little lady. Clearly loved by someone along her journey, Dixie has been well socialized with people and other dogs. She knows that people can be kind, affectionate, and loving. A social and affectionate girl she showers her people with love. A generally calm girl, Dixie is stable and intelligent. She loves her daily walks and settles in nicely with her foster family when it is time to slow down. Although an amazing girl, Dixie, like all shepherds, will benefit greatly from training. Training will not only help Dixie develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen, but it will also help her build a strong and healthy bond with her forever family. We are still learning about Dixie, but we do know that she is a special girl who deserves an amazing forever family.
If this belly rub loving, affectionate girl sounds like the right fit for your family, ask to meet Miss Dixie today!

Beautiful Bells was adored by her owner. She was raised with love, affection, and opportunities to socialize with people and other animals. Unfortunately, when her owner passed away Bells had limited options. Extended family kept an eye on her for a bit, but when storms hit and Bells got loose they decided she could not return. Instead they left her in an exceptionally overcrowded shelter with an uncertain future. Nationally, shelters and rescues are significantly over capacity. There are simply too many animals and not enough placements. Groups across the nation are doing everything they can to save as many lives as possible; however, the reality is many incredible animals do not make it out of shelters alive. Recognizing that Bells' deserved the chance to move forward safely with a family that would cherish her for a lifetime, shelter staff reached out to MAGSR for help. Fortunately, we had an amazing foster family step forward and were able to welcome Bells into the MAGSR family.
Beautiful Bells is young, active, and affectionate. It is beyond obvious that this girl loves her people and has had opportunities to interact with people of all ages. Still learning basic manners, Bells will need to learn to keep all four paws on the ground. However, with clear expectations, consistency, and training, we know that Bells will learn fast. She already knows to sit on command and walks relatively well on leash when the correct equipment is used. Curious about the world around her, Bells has a busy nose but does not pull excessively on leash. She will however need an active family that can provide her with daily opportunities to exercise. Living in a household with kids, cats, and other dogs, Bells is friendly with everyone. She is responsive to the boundaries set by the cat and is comfortable with the dogs in the home. As Bells is new to the MAGSR family, we are still learning about her household manners. At this time, she is crate training and seems to be housebroken. Time will tell on this piece. Structure, routine, and clear expectations are already in place as Bells decompresses from all of the changes in her life. Maintaining this set-up will help Bells continue to make the adjustments she needs to meet with success. Overall, this lovely girl is a go-with-the-flow kind of lady. However, after all she has been through, storms are not her thing and she does need to be kept safe and secure during rough weather.
Bells is looking for a household that will fill her days with joy, treats, and belly rubs and her nights with plenty of soft blankets and cuddles. If this lovely little girl sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet Bells today!

Jovial Jason was picked up as a stray in the south. When he arrived at a shelter, it was discovered that he had a large, open wound on his back leg. As this shelter, like so many others, was sitting above capacity, once Jason's stray hold was completed, he was placed on the list to be euthanized. This handsome guy was incredibly lucky as he was pulled at the last minute by another rescue. Although they knew that Jason would need to be transferred to another rescue, this group knew that Jason deserved every opportunity to move forward safely.
Jason was fortunate to have been in a foster home for a few months before moving into the MAGSR family. During this time he was able to begin receiving the medical support needed to start the healing process. With debris cleaned out of his leg, medication provided, and six weeks of rehab in place, Jason's leg healed nicely allowing him to return to regular activities and playtime. Having endless opportunities to socialize with other large dogs, Jason greatly enjoys play time. He has an active and enthusiastic play style. However, we have learned that he gets a little too excited about cats and farm animals. He will not be placed in a home with these creatures. Having lived in a home, Jason has begun to learn the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and crate trained. As is true of all dogs, Jason will need time to adjust to the expectations, structure, and routines of his forever family. With time, patience, and leadership, we know he will succeed. As Jason moves forward, training will be key to his success. Training will not only help Jason create a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Jason is heartworm positive. This prognosis could have been prevented if Jason has been provided with monthly preventatives. Although heartworm treatment is expensive, MAGSR knows that Jason is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Jason's treatment. Not only will your donation help Jason get the care he needs, but it will also help us welcome other dogs with medical needs. Jason's treatment has already begun and he is more than half-way finished! He will need to take it easy over the next month or so as he finishes up. Jason is an amazing guy that is hoping to find a family that will love him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?

Sensational Stella, nicknamed Ella, and her buddy, Baxter, were beyond adored by their dad. They were the perfect little family. It is clear that Ella's dad went above and beyond to ensure she was safe and loved. Although her dad had planned to care for Ella until the day she crossed the bridge, unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned. Ella's dad passed away a few months ago. Ella is an elegant, responsive, and intelligent lady. Clearly social and well-loved, Ella was provided with a strong foundation for success. Somewhat picky about treats, Ella waits for the "good stuff" before indulging in a treat. What can we say, sometimes you just know what is worth it and what is not. Training will be critical to Ella's success. Not only will it help Ella develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen, but it will also help her build a strong, healthy, and lasting relationship with her forever family. Ella is beyond lucky to have already lived in an amazing home. She is housebroken and well behaved in the home. Not a big fan of toys, but definitely happy to romp around outside, Ella is a stable and sweet girl. Although Ella knows quite a bit about living in a household, as is true of all new dogs, she will need time to adjust to the routines and expectations of her forever family.

Stunning Shep was picked up as a stray in the south and brought to a local animal control. Upon arrival, it was highly evident that this boy needed medical attention as soon as possible. With a severe ear infection and raw, painful paws, and underweight Shep was incredibly uncomfortable and in need of help. Fortunately, the right people heard about Shep's situation and began working with rescue groups to find a temp foster and rescue placement. When asked if we could provide Shep with a rescue option, team MAGSR knew that Shep would make an incredible addition to the family. With an amazing foster family in place, we welcomed this handsome boy to the MAGSR family.
Recognizing that Shep needed medical support right away, we worked with several groups to ensure he had what he needed. Shep had his medical needs addressed and was placed in a loving home to recuperate. Seeming to understand that this was his chance to decompress and let the healing process happen, Shep took some time to relax and get healthy again. Once he started feeling better, we were able to move him to one of our experienced foster homes where Shep had the chance to start acting like a dog again. An active guy with a high ball drive, Shep's all-time favorite activities involve balls. He will happily chase and mouth a ball for hours. In fact, it seems that he is hoping that his forever family has an affinity for throwing as, in his mind, humans are meant to be his personal throwing machine. Still learning the finer points of playing, Shep still needs some time to further decompress and learn the ins and outs of appropriate play. This guy is looking for an active family that will provide the structure, routine, and expectations needed to meet the needs of a headstrong shepherd. He would likely be happiest with a job, like nosework, or an activity, like treibball. With a little refinement, Shep would likely excel at Rally or flyball! Living in a foster home, Shep is learning the ins and outs of living in a home. He is learning to crate train and housebreak. He is also learning about the general routines and expectations of living in a GSD savvy home. However, he will need time and patience to adjust to the expectations and routines of his forever family. As is true of all dogs, training will be key to Shep's success. Not only will training help Shep build a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Shep is your typical teenage shepherd seeking attention and a good time. If you are looking for an intelligent, fun-loving, active shepherd, Shep could be the guy for you!

Handsome Kash and his sweet buddy, Kai, were absolutely adored by their family. Having grown up in a loving home, these boys had everything they needed and thrived. Unfortunately, when a new member joined the household, a severe allergy developed. Kash and Kai's family worked with doctors to address this allergy so that the family could remain together, but these measures proved unsuccessful and the boys were moved to a separate part of the home. Although they still received as much attention as possible, a complete separation was necessary in order to keep everyone healthy. The family remained this way for some time; however, they knew this wasn't fair to Kash and Kai. Recognizing that the boys would need to be rehomed for everyone's safety and happiness, Kash and Kai's family reach out for help. This was not an easy decision, but it was the best option to help the boys move forward. Knowing both Kash and Kai were incredible dogs that deserved a safe option to move forward, they were welcomed to the MAGSR family.
Kash is an outdoorsy guy. He loves the fresh air, freedom to run around, and the sunshine. A ball guy through and through, Kash is hardly ever found without a ball in his mouth or right next to him. Happy to chill with the ball, Kash keeps it close for security. However, he is beyond excited to play fetch with his people. He is hoping that his forever family is ready to keep their throwing arm in good shape. Comfortable with other dogs, Kash has been well-socialized. He is most comfortable with his buddy, Kai, and wouldn't mind resettling in a home with his partner in crime. Having lived in a GSD savvy home, Kash has learned the ins and outs of living in a household. He is house-broken and crate trained. He will even help you keep things clean, as dirty clothes are his one vice. True of all new dogs, Kash will need time to adjust to his forever family. With structure, routine, leadership, and daily activities, Kash will thrive. Training will be key to his success. Although he already knows some basics, training will help Kash develop a strong and healthy bond with his forever family. In addition, it will help him develop the skills he needs to become a good canine citizen.

Schmidt, like so many dogs, found himself at a crowded shelter as just a baby. Underweight, dirty, full of worms, and malnourished, this little guy was scared and unsure. It was beyond evident that he needed help and fast. Fortunately, a local rescue was able to pull this handsome guy quickly and began getting him some of the critical care he needed to meet with success. With some much needed vetting started and some supportive care in place, the rescue began looking into breed specific resources that could help Schmidt find a safe and loving forever home that would understand and know how to work with a GSD. Shepherds are an intelligent, active, and loyal breed; however, it is understood in the rescue community that they are not for everyone. When asked if we could welcome Schmidt into the MAGSR family, our team immediately came together to provide him with a safe landing.
Schmidt is a special guy. He has had a rough start, but things are definitely looking up. Living with an incredible foster family, this little guy is soaking in all the love he can. Recognizing the importance of socialization, his foster family is giving him endless opportunities to socialize with new people and other animals. Socialization is critical as it will help Schmidt develop the skills needed to grow into a stable and confident adult. His forever family will need to continue this process. As a young guy, Schmidt is learning the ins and outs of living in a home. He enjoys playing with his foster siblings, puppy toys, and endless snuggles. Making great progress with housebreaking and crate training, Schmidt is a smart little guy. Although Schmidt is an absolute love, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. Cashew found himself in a tough situation and was placed with a rescue in the south. He landed in a loving foster family where he settled in nicely with his foster mom. From time to time, her grandchildren would visit and Cashew was delighted by their presence. Although Cashew was doing well with his foster family, when a family emergency arose, he needed to find an alternative placement. Foster families are incredible, but they are not always as easy to find as we would hope. Without another foster available, once again Cashew found himself in a tough situation. Knowing that this guy needed another option, the rescue reached out to MAGSR to transfer Cashew into our care. We welcomed Cashew to the MAGSR family and did not look back.
Cashew is a big, intelligent guy. Very typical of the breed, he prefers slow introductions and clear expectations. He is most successful with a calm, confident, and experienced handler that will set him up for success. Initially more comfortable with women than men, Cashew is working with our volunteers to develop confidence and boundaries. Training will go a long way with this guy. Not only will training help Cashew develop the skills he needs to become a good canine citizen, but it will also help him build a strong, healthy, and lasting relationship with his forever family. As is true of all GSDs, Cashew is looking for a forever family that will provide him with structure, routine, and leadership. Allowing him time to decompress and adjust in his new home will help Cashew meet with success. Having lived in an incredible foster home, Cashew understands many of the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and crate trained. He has also developed a solid understanding of pack expectations and has done well with other dogs in the home. With some alpha tendencies, Cashew may be most successful with less dominant dogs. A big fan of daily activities both inside and outside of the household, Cashew has shown that he prefers to be close to his people. Ensuring that Cashew bonds in a healthy manner will be an important first step in his forever family. With time, patience, and training, Cashew will be an amazing companion.

Jenny and her buddy, Forest, were lucky to have grown up in a loving home that had planned to love them for a lifetime. Forest joined the family as a baby and was immediately adored. Jenny joined a little later when another family in the area needed to rehome her. She was immediately adored. Like "peas and carrots" these two lived side by side in an incredible household. Unfortunately, things simply don't always work out the way we plan. When circumstances changed unexpectedly in their home, it became clear that it was in both dogs best interest that they be rehomed. This is never an easy decision; it is often one of the hardest choices a family must make. However, their family knew this was what was best for both dogs. When asked if we could help both dogs move forward with loving families that would last a lifetime, team MAGSR stepped forward.
Jenny is a beautiful, intelligent, and active girl. With some very GSD heavy traits, she can be more timid and hesitant with new people. As a result, it can take her a little time to adjust to her surroundings. However, when given a chance to decompress, Jenny is friendly, sweet, and an amazing companion. Once truly bonded with her people, Jenny is your typical GSD - a constant presence, loyal, and on point. Having had endless opportunities to learn about the joys of daily activities and toys, Jenny enjoys playtime and hopes her forever family has plenty of toys. A lucky lady, Jenny has had the opportunity to begin building her good canine citizenship skills and participate in training. This has helped Jenny enhance her leash manners, develop commands, and increase her confidence. Although Jenny is building a solid foundation, it is critical that Jenny continue training. Not only will training help Jenny build a healthy and lasting bond with her forever family, but it will also help her continue to solidify her good canine citizenship skills.
Having had the benefit of living in a loving household, Jenny is already housebroken and crate trained. She has developed a good understanding of many of the ins and outs of living in a home. However, it is critical that her forever family provide her with time, patience, structure, and routine. With leadership and clear expectations, Jenny will thrive. This lovely lady is looking for a forever family that will take her on daily adventures, provide her with plenty of toys, and shower her with love. Momma Starlight and her adorable babies - Niner, Babs, Peace, Benisa and Seven - were surrendered to an overcrowded shelter when the babies were just 6 weeks old. Although shelter staff do everything they can to keep families safe, raising puppies in a shelter is stressful for the entire family and often results in illness. Although this family was clearly very sweet, no one stepped forward to help them. As shelter numbers everywhere are at astronomical rates, Momma Starlight and her babies were at significant risk of being euthanized as owner surrenders are typically the first to cross. Days passed without interest and the family was placed on the list to be euthanized. The rescue community was doing everything they could to help, but with rescues at critical levels finding placement options was very challenging. Fortunately, an incredible rescue close to the shelter was able to secure temp fosters for the family hoping to work with other rescues to move them forward. When asked if MAGSR could be the family's rescue destination, our team sent out a plea for help. We were lucky to have fosters ready and willing to help. The uncertainty of their survival had finally ended as they made their way to the MAGSR family.
Momma Starlight has been through so many challenges over the last two months, but she remains very sweet. Clearly a good mom, Starlight has done an incredible job raising her babies. However, it is time for Starlight to soak in the love and attention of a forever family. Starlight has had the opportunity to adjust to life without the babies in an experienced foster family. She is taking some time to decompress and enjoy the safety and security of a loving household. Once comfortable, Starlight is affectionate and full of gentle kisses. She seems to know that life can only get better from now on. Still somewhat a puppy herself, Starlight can be goofy and playful. She loves to goof around outside then roll over for belly rubs. Living in a foster home with other dogs, Starlight has done well. She was also a very patient mom to the babies. Although in a foster home now, we do not know how much experience Starlight has had in a household. She is learning to crate train and is adjusting to the routines and expectations of the home. As Starlight moves forward, she will thrive with consistency, structure, and leadership. Training will also go a long way for Starlight. Not only will it help her create a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Starlight is looking for an active family that will enjoy daily activities with her. She is also hoping that they are looking for a few extra snuggles at night. This gorgeous girl is ready for the perfect family to welcome her home. If Starlight sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!

Daily opportunities to run around outside, go for a walk, and enjoy being in nature bring him endless joy. Although he has been socialized around other dogs, Kai is most content with his buddy, Kash. He would be more than happy settling into his forever family with Kash at his side. Having lived in a GSD savvy home, Kai has learned the ins and outs of living in a household. Niner and his adorable siblings have been through a lot of changes in a short period of time. However, a resilient group, these babies have maintained some very typical puppy behaviors. They are active, intelligent, and very good with other animals. With a good understanding of toys, treats, and a soft place to relax, all four babies have been lucky to have settled in experienced foster families. Still developing their socialization skills, Niner and his siblings will need endless opportunities to socialize with people and other animals in safe and controlled settings. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience, and leadership we know that Niner and his siblings are destined for greatness. Niner is looking for a household that will provide him with a good balance of training, playtime, and cuddles. Momma Starlight and her adorable babies - Babs, Niner, Peace, Benisa and Seven - were surrendered to an overcrowded shelter when the babies were just 6 weeks old.
Babs and her adorable siblings have been through a lot of changes in a short period of time. However, a resilient group, these babies have maintained some very typical puppy behaviors. They are active, intelligent, and very good with other animals. With a good understanding of toys, treats, and a soft place to relax, all five babies have been lucky to have settled in experienced foster families. Babs is a big fan of toys and loves anything with the baby paper sound. She also seems thrilled to have teething bones to keep those little teeth busy. Still developing their socialization skills, Babs and her siblings will need endless opportunities to socialize with people and other animals in safe and controlled settings. Socialization is critical to their success as this will help them develop into stable adult dogs. With some food drive and a big fan of praise, Babs has already begun developing some basic commands. She knows "sit" already and is learning "down" and "come". Taking treats and food very gently, Bab's foster is hand feeding her to teach bond with the little lady as well as teach additional commands. This lovely lady is quite the student. Her housebreaking and crate training are moving along fabulously. Babs holds it through the night and sleeps well.
Although these babies are cute as can be, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience, and leadership we know that Babs and her siblings are destined for greatness. Forest and his buddy, Jenny, were lucky to have grown up in a loving home that had planned to love them for a lifetime.
Forest is a big, confident guy. He confidently takes in the world around him and is a stabilizing force. More playful and outgoing than his sister, this guy will fill his forever home with endless antics. A huge fan of toys, Forest has high hopes that his forever family will maintain a large number of toys in the household providing him with plenty of options. Typical of most young dogs, Forest is an active guy. He is happiest when both his body and his mind are exercised on a daily basis. A lucky guy, Forest has had the opportunity to begin building his good canine citizenship skills and is participating in training. This has helped Forest enhance his leash manners and develop commands. Although Forest is building a solid foundation, it is critical that Forest's forever family continue training. Not only will training help Forest build a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him continue to solidify his good canine citizenship skills.
Having lived in a loving household, Forest is already housebroken and crate trained. He understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. However, it is critical that his forever family provides him with structure, routine, leadership, and clear expectations. With these key aspects in place, Forest will thrive. Forest is looking for a home that will enjoy his goofy personality and provide him with endless opportunities to meet with success. If this big guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!

Attractive little Angel was picked up in a busy city and brought to a local shelter. Although she waited patiently for her family to come and claim her, no one stepped forward for this sweetheart. With shelters significantly over capacity, the moment her stray hold lifted, Angel was in danger. She was placed on the list to be euthanized. This was not what anyone wanted; however, with an endless flow of dogs entering the shelter daily, staff members were forced to make incredibly tough choices. Knowing that Angel would not survive without immediate help, the rescue community sent out a plea for help. Fortunately, MAGSR had a space for Angel and was able to welcome her to the family.
Angel is an absolute peach. She is sweet, social, and very intelligent. Typical of the breed, she has some good energy and is looking for a family that can keep up with this gorgeous girl. Angel will need someone to exercise both her body and her mind on a daily basis. With some ball drive, an eagerness to learn, and a responsive nature, Angel is picking up new skills quickly. She is hoping to find a family that has a good throwing arm and is ready with lots of toys. Super responsive to both food and praise, she will pick up new learning fast. Training will go a long way with this girl. Not only will training help her build a healthy relationship with her forever family, but it will also help Angel develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. In many ways Angel is still a puppy. Her endless puppy antics keep our volunteers smiling; however, these behaviors are not for everyone especially if left unchecked. With time, patience, structure, and leadership, we know Angel will be an amazing adult dog. Continued socialization will be key to her success. Angel will need endless opportunities to learn about new people, animals, and environments. This will help her hone her skills and develop a stable personality.
Angel is looking for an active forever family that will cherish her happy personality for a lifetime. If this lovely little girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!
