Big Boy adores being part of whatever his family is doing and has a calm, loving presence that brings comfort to everyone around him.

He gets along beautifully with people and other animals alike, showing signs of being both dog- and stranger-friendly. Big Boy was picked up as a stray almost a year ago by another rescue. However, due to an overabundance of animals in need in the area he was overlooked by potential adopters for far too long. Knowing that this gentle soul deserved a family to call his very own, the rescue asked us to consider welcoming Big Boy to the rescue family. MAGSR knew this handsome guy would be the perfect match for the right household and welcomed him without a second thought. Although we know Big Boy is special, we do not know much about his past. With such an incredible personality, someone must have loved him somewhere along his journey. Like all shepherds, Big Boy is looking for a loving household that will provide him with the structure, routine, and leadership that will help him thrive. Training will be critical to his success. Not only will training help Big Boy recognize that he is finally home with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.

Sweet Mama Sage found herself in an incredibly tough situation in the South after being surrendered to an overcrowded shelter - one where many dogs step in but never get the chance to step back out due to a lack of space. Fate, however, had other plans. As Sage arrived with a hidden surprise inside, a local rescue volunteer happened to be walking out. Recognizing the danger Sage faced, she immediately began networking this lovely girl, determined to give her a chance at a future. At the same time, MAGSR was already in conversations about another dog at the same shelter. Knowing Sage (and her special surprises) had no other options, our team made the decision that saving a few lives was better than saving one—and the girls joined the MAGSR family.

Upon arrival, our volunteers quickly discovered that Sage brought more than one little friend along - she brought nine! Sage was pregnant and due very soon. Knowing this little family would need a safe place to begin, one of our amazing fosters stepped forward and welcomed the Sage into her home. The family would multiply significantly within a couple weeks. Just before 2026 began, Sage welcomed nine furry babies to the world - the Nature Puppies (Brook, Wren, Terra, Briar, Moss, Timber, Hawk, Falcon, and Buckeye)! These little bundles of joy have been learning all about the world around them while under the watchful eye of their mother, Sage, and their incredible foster family. 

Unlike many babies who have joined the rescue family under very different circumstances, the Nature Puppies have had constant love, care, attention, and vetting since they were born. They have been learning social skills within a pack and have a good understanding of toys. Although these babies have had a loving start, it is critical that their forever families continue this process. Socialization with other people and animals in a variety of environments will be essential. Training will also be necessary for their success. Training will not only help the Nature puppies build a solid bond with their forever family, but it will also help these babies grow into good canine citizens. 

Although the Nature Puppies are beyond adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, routine, and training, we know each of the Nature Puppies will become loving members of their forever family. Worf spent his entire life with one family, growing up in a busy home filled with a large pack of dogs and a revolving door of at least six kids. He adored his family and thrived in the hustle and bustle, doing wonderfully with the children around him. As one of the more confident dogs in the pack, Worf understood structure, though he occasionally clashed with an older alpha dog. His family loved him deeply, but with so many moving parts in the home, they realized they couldn’t give Worf the individual attention he truly deserved. Whether he’s lounging on the couch or proudly bringing you his favorite toy for a game of fetch, he just wants to be near his humans. He has been wonderful with visitors in his foster home and remains friendly and composed when meeting new people out on walks. Smart and eager, Worf already knows some basic commands and does best with structure, routine, and clear expectations. Her curiosity sometimes gets the best of her—she may zigzag on walks, pull ahead to investigate something fascinating, or stubbornly stop when something catches her eye—but with patience, direction, and positive reinforcement, she’s eager to learn and please.

At home, Sim is a bundle of energy and curiosity. She doesn’t guard her food, toys, or space and plays well with other dogs, though her enthusiasm can sometimes overwhelm those who want quiet time. Sim is definitely not a couch potato. With this in mind, she is still working on understanding boundaries and can get herself into a bit of mischief. Sim has been known to chew on household items, dig in the yard or trash, and even counter surf for interesting objects (though not food!). She’s also quite the clever girl—when she needs to go outside, she’ll sometimes try to open doors herself by standing on her hind legs and turning the knob. She’s not crate trained yet and can’t have bedding or blankets, as she enjoys tearing them apart, but with time and guidance, she’ll learn what’s hers to play with. When provided with clear rules, routines, and structures, Sim will shine. 

Sim’s best qualities are her friendly, loving spirit and her playful energy. She adores people and always wants to be involved in what’s going on. Pan and his five siblings were part of an accidental litter. Fortunately, their family recognized the importance of making sure the entire litter had the support and resources needed to succeed. Wanting the very best for all six little lives, they reached out to a local rescue group for help. The puppies were welcomed into rescue and began their journey toward finding forever homes. Several of Pan’s siblings quickly found their families, leaving this sweet boy still searching for his perfect match. Knowing that Pan would thrive in a breed-specific rescue, the group reached out to MAGSR for help. We knew right away that this handsome little guy would be a wonderful addition to the MAGSR family.

Pan is an exceptional puppy with a wonderful start to his training. He is already about 98% house trained and will politely whine to let you know when he needs to go outside. Pan is also crate trained and, for a puppy, has a slightly calmer and lower-energy personality than many puppies. Of course, he still enjoys playtime and puppy adventures, but he also has a sweet, easygoing side. This handsome boy truly loves everyone he meets. Like most puppies, Pan is playful and still learning boundaries as he grows. He has been well socialized with other dogs, cats, adults, and children, giving him a great foundation as he searches for his forever family.

Lovely Moiraine was picked up as a stray with her pup and brought to a local shelter. Although both dogs were clearly well-socialized and friendly, they sat at the shelter without anyone stepping forward to claim them. Knowing that they were special dogs who would be most successful if placed with a breed specific rescue, the shelter reached out to MAGSR for help. They found the perfect placement for the pup but needed a home for Moiraine. Too many momma's get left behind far too often. Team MAGSR knew that we would find Moiraine the perfect placement and give this marevelous momma a loving home of her very own. Without a second thought, we welcomed Moiraine to the MAGSR family.

Moiraine is the picture of a true German Shepherd — intelligent, loyal, and devoted to her people. This beautiful mama dog embodies everything that makes the breed so special: she’s protective yet gentle, confident yet affectionate, and always eager to please. Since joining the MAGSR family, Moiraine has had the opportunity to socialize with a variety of people and has constantly impressed us with her social personality. She's a quick learner who will thrive with continued training, structure, and clear boundaries - the kind of dog who blossoms when given purpose and guidance. In fact, Moiraine has already begun to develop her basic obedience with one of our amazing training partners. She is developing leash manners and basic commands. Although we do not know much about Moiraine's past, we do know her future is bright!

Sadly, like so many others, Everest wasn’t one of the lucky pups who got to go home. When no one stepped forward, shelter staff began searching for the right placement, and for a moment it seemed Everest had finally found her forever family. But within two weeks, she was back—confused, heartbroken, and unsure what had gone wrong. Knowing Everest deserved a family who would truly commit to her, shelter staff reached out to breed-specific rescues for help. When our team learned she needed a safe option to move forward, we knew the MAGSR family was the right fit.

Everest is a friendly, sensitive girl who has bounced around more than any dog should. She adores being near her people and is wonderfully attentive, but her past experiences have left her a bit timid during introductions. Give her a little time, patience, and a few tasty treats, and her warm, affectionate personality begins to shine. While much of her past is unknown, it’s clear someone invested in her early socialization. Everest is unbothered by the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys being near both people and animals. She reads canine cues well and thrives in a pack environment. Already housebroken and crate trained, she has a solid start on the basics of living in a home. Thankfully, the diagnosis was made early, her treatment is underway, and she’s handling it with grace. She seems to understand that with just a bit more time and patience, she’ll be ready for a fresh start.

Some dogs seem to go through more pain, hardship, and loss than we could fathom. If they could share their stories, people would be beyond surprised at how affectionate and charismatic so many of these dogs remain after having endured so much. Shotsy is one of those dogs. He is a true survivor. No one knows exactly what Shotsy went through prior to his arrival at animal control. We do know that people were not always kind to this big guy. Picked up as a stray, Shotsy was brought to an animal shelter that was sitting at critical capacity. The minute he walked in the door, he was in grave danger. With limited resources, extreme overcrowding, and a wealth of new sights, smells, and sounds, Shotsy was overwhelmed and wasn't showing well in the shelter environment. As a result, when his stray hold ended, Shotsy was moved to the list to be euthanized. At the last second, an incredible couple pulled Shotsy hoping to help him move forward. 

Recognizing that this senior boy needed some medical and social support, the couple got Shotsy everything he needed to meet with success. He had all of his medical needs addressed and even had a dental completed. He also had the chance to work with a trainer and start developing his manners. In addition, Shotsy had the opportunity to learn some of the ins and outs of living in a loving home with comfortable places to sleep and regular meals. Although the couple adored Shotsy, they knew that he needed a different type of household in order to meet with success. So, they made the decision to reach out to rescues for help to ensure that Shotsy could move forward safely with breed specific knowledge to support his success. 

Shotsy is a handsome and intelligent boy. He, like so many GSDs, reads the handler very well, quickly determining what he can and cannot get away with. With a calm, confident, and controlled handler, Shotsy shines. He adjusts well to clear rules, structure, and boundaries; however, like any typical GSD, he will try to take advantage of the situation if the opportunity presents itself. As a dominant male, Shotsy is happy to take on the role of alpha if given the opportunity. Already knowing several commands, Shotsy likes to work and appreciates having high expectations. Although this guy has had some training already, continued training will be key to his success. Training will not only help Shotsy develop a balanced and healthy relationship with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Patsy Cline, like far too many dogs, was born without the resources or care she needed to thrive. She spent her puppyhood living outdoors with little consistency, guidance, or attention. Born into the same circumstances, all four dogs ultimately found themselves in need of help. Recognizing that the puppies deserved a safer, healthier start, their owner made the responsible decision to surrender them to MAGSR. When our team visited the property to meet the Country Puppies, it quickly became clear that Patsy Cline needed help as well. At MAGSR, we don’t leave family behind—so we promised to move Patsy forward alongside her sisters.

Patsy is a friendly, social, and affectionate young girl. While she didn’t have the upbringing we would have hoped for, she is clearly made of something special and has done wonderfully with our volunteers. Arriving without prior veterinary care, Patsy has been spending her time getting caught up on all the important medical support she needed. A playful and interactive pup, Patsy enjoys social time and brings plenty of young-dog energy to everything she does. She is still learning the ins and outs of living in a home with structure, routine, and clear expectations, so her forever family should be prepared to give her time to adjust. With patience, consistency, and guidance, Patsy will absolutely thrive. The **Winter Litter—Tundra, Glacier, and Frosty—**joined the MAGSR family a few weeks ago after being rescued from a local cruelty and neglect situation. An advocate reached out to local law enforcement after discovering these puppies were living in conditions that were simply unimaginable. When they arrived, all three were severely emaciated, full of worms, missing patches of fur, and understandably unsure of new people. They urgently needed rescue placement to begin their journey toward safety and healing. Thanks to our incredible foster families, prescribed medications, structured feeding schedules, and strong veterinary support, all three puppies were welcomed into the safety of the MAGSR family.

Glacier is a delightful, playful, and smart young pup who thrives when both her mind and body are exercised on a daily basis. Like many puppies who lacked early structure, Glacier has benefited greatly from an experienced foster home that has begun teaching her the ins and outs of living in a loving home environment. Crate training and housebreaking were first on the list, and Glacier has been doing a wonderful job learning these important skills.

Living in an established pack has also given Glacier the opportunity to learn appropriate social skills and understand pack structure—an essential foundation for her long-term success. With a strong desire to please her people, Glacier has begun learning basic expectations. Continued training and consistent opportunities to learn will help her grow into a confident, well-rounded canine citizen. Joi’s life began as a beautiful gift — she and another dog were welcomed into a loving home where she was truly adored. When unexpected changes in the household turned her world upside down, Joi’s mom did everything in her power to keep her safe, loved, and healthy. When it became clear that Joi and her buddy deserved more than she could provide, she made the heartbreaking decision to seek rehoming. Joi’s partner found placement first, leaving her behind. But her mom never gave up. She kept searching for the right, safe solution — and when she reached out to the Mid-Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue (MAGSR) our team knew immediately this was a devoted owner simply trying to do right by her girl. We promised Joi’s mom we would find her an amazing forever family — one that will love her for a lifetime.

Joi is everything you’d expect from a typical German Shepherd — intelligent, affectionate, loyal, and ready for a challenge. She loves to work with her handler and is eager to learn. Having had some training early in life, Joi already knows several commands and is highly food motivated, which makes her a wonderful candidate for continued training. Sage is a beautiful young dog with a soft caramel-colored coat and an even sweeter personality. Just under a year old when she entered her temporary foster home in the South, Sage was underweight but incredibly affectionate. With full meals, a soft bed, and a consistent routine, she quickly began to thrive. It became clear that Sage already had some important skills—she is social, walks well on leash, and loves to lean in for cuddles. Though her past is unknown, it’s obvious someone showed her kindness along the way. She is comfortable with people and other animals, and while she occasionally needs redirection when she gets a little too playful with the resident cat, she responds well to guidance.

Sage impressed her foster family by excelling with crate training and making great progress with housebreaking. When she recently traveled north to her current foster home in the Mid-Atlantic, it was clear that she had been enjoying her daily meals—she had gained some healthy weight. Upon closer inspection, however, it became apparent that the extra pounds weren’t just from good food… Sage was pregnant. Still a puppy herself in many ways, sweet Sage arrived with more than one little passenger. Knowing she deserves to feel safe, calm, and comfortable while finishing out her pregnancy, one of our incredible foster families welcomed her in and is providing everything she needs to rest, nest, and prepare for motherhood. As Sage’s medical care is now being closely monitored, we also learned that she is heartworm positive—a diagnosis that could have been prevented with monthly heartworm prevention. Because treatment cannot begin until after her puppies are weaned, Sage will require careful monitoring over the coming months as she delivers, raises her babies, and later begins heartworm treatment. Marvelous Maylee was found as a stray in the South and brought to a crowded shelter. Although it was clear she’d been well socialized with both people and other animals, no one ever came to claim her. With shepherds filling shelters and space running out, Maylee urgently needed a safe place to go. Thankfully, the staff saw how special she was and advocated for her. When we learned Maylee needed help and fast, our team stepped in to give this incredible girl the second chance she deserves.

Maylee is a smart, social, and eager-to-please young shepherd. Someone in her past clearly invested time in her—she’s treat-motivated, already knows several commands, and truly loves to work. Her ideal family will enjoy training and mental enrichment as much as she does. The Winter Litter—Tundra, Glacier, and Frosty—joined the MAGSR family a few weeks ago after being rescued from a local cruelty and neglect situation. An advocate reached out to local law enforcement after discovering these puppies were living in conditions that were simply unimaginable. When they arrived, all three were severely emaciated, full of worms, missing patches of fur, and understandably unsure of new people. They urgently needed rescue placement to begin their journey toward safety and healing. Thanks to our incredible foster families, medications, structured feeding schedules, and strong veterinary support, all three puppies were welcomed into the safety of the MAGSR family.

Tundra is an adventurous, intelligent, and motivated young pup who thrives when both his mind and body are engaged. Like many puppies who lacked early structure, Tundra needed extra support to learn the basics of being a well-mannered boy. Our team quickly stepped in to meet those needs by providing a predictable environment with clear rules, boundaries, and expectations. With his strong desire to please and excellent food motivation, Tundra has taken enthusiastically to training. Handsome Joey was picked up as a stray in the south with a few other dogs. Fortunately, he was brought into the care of a southern rescue while they waited out his stray hold. When no one stepped forward for this sweet boy, the rescue began looking for an adoptive placement. Although Joey is clearly an incredible boy, with adoptions on the decline across the country and the number of dogs needing placement increasing, Joey was being looked over. Knowing this boy would be more successful in a different region, a plea for help with a rescue transfer was sent out. MAGSR was lucky to have an amazing foster home step forward for Joey so that he could move forward.

Joey is an absolute doll. As a stunning guy, he is already turning heads with his oversized ears, long tail, and joyful personality. It is clear that this guy was given opportunities to socialize with both people and dogs at some point along his journey which has resulted in a solid foundation. Typical for a young shepherd, Joey is both intelligent and active. He loves to run and play in the yard, enjoys goofing around with other dogs, and is beyond happy to join in on daily adventures. As he moves forward, it will be important that his forever family exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. This will help Joey maintain his impressive personality. Still developing basic commands and leash manners, training will go a long way with this boy. Chase was first welcomed into the MAGSR family many years ago. With his impressive personality and sweet soul, it didn’t take long for him to find a wonderful home, where he spent several happy years as a beloved family member. Unfortunately, as life sometimes changes despite everyone’s best efforts, Chase found himself needing MAGSR once again.

Chase grew up with two children, lived peacefully with the family cat, and had interactions with other dogs. When a new family member arrived, a serious medical condition developed that resulted in a severe allergy to Chase. His family did everything they could to manage the situation, but when it became clear that things would not improve, they made the incredibly difficult and selfless decision to return Chase to MAGSR so he could find a new home. At MAGSR, we protect our own. When Chase needed help, we ensured he had a safe and loving foster home where he could settle in comfortably while beginning the search for his next forever family.

Chase is a sweet, loving, and deeply devoted senior boy. He loves wholeheartedly and comes with a solid foundation thanks to years spent in a stable, nurturing home. He understands household routines, is housebroken, and is crate trained. As with any dog transitioning into a new environment, Chase will need a bit of time to adjust to the routines and expectations of his future family. Stella found her match several years ago. Her mom welcomed this extraordinary girl into her heart and never looked back. An incredible pair, Stella and her mom had a special understanding of each other. They enjoyed their days together on the farm. With fresh air, sunshine, and plenty of daily activities, Stella's world was filled with joy and love. When Stella's mom started getting sick, family members stepped in to help out. Stella found comfort in her family, but missed her mom. As things improved, the two were reunited and all seemed well with the world. Recently, it was determined that Stella's mom needed some extra help and would no longer be able to live independently. Recognizing that Stella could not move into a facility with her mom, a heartbreaking decision was made - Stella would need to be rehomed. Knowing we protect our own, her family called MAGSR and asked for help. We knew this was not an easy decision for Stella's family. But, we promised we would care for this senior lady and ensure she had everything she needed. 

Saying goodbye is never an easy option. We know that both Stella and her mom miss each other greatly. With such a significant change, Stella has been taking some time to take a breath and grieve. Welcomed into one of our senior foster homes, Stella's foster family is giving her time to adjust to her new surroundings. Soft blankets, comforting toys, and daily routine seems to be a welcome set-up. Daily time out in the fresh air also seems comforting. Stella has begun to check in with her foster parents regularly. A huge fan of a good head pat and attention on her terms, Stella is clear about her needs. Her foster family is always happy to give a head rub and some love. Very attuned to her environment, Stella likes to know what is happening around her and typically doesn't miss a beat. She is the perfect watchdog.  

As a senior pup, Stella takes her time moving from one place to another and requires some additional support to remain comfortable. Senior needs are often very different from our younger pups and typically entail additional vetting, medications, and supplements. Striking Sarge, like so many dogs, found himself in a large, overcrowded shelter—unsure where things had gone wrong on his journey. The staff cared deeply and wanted the best for this big-hearted guy, but with limited resources, nationwide drops in adoptions, and an overwhelming number of dogs arriving daily, they simply couldn’t keep up. They knew Sarge deserved more than they could offer, so they began reaching out to rescues up and down the coast in hopes of finding him a safe place to land. Fortunately, when one of our sister rescues received the call for help, Sarge’s story made its way to MAGSR. Our team knew we couldn’t leave this boy behind. Working closely with local groups, shelter volunteers, and transporters, we ensured Sarge made his way safely into the MAGSR family. Sometimes, teamwork truly makes all the difference for a dog in need.

Although Sarge was already known as a big boy, our team quickly realized he wasn’t quite big enough. With ribs showing, a dull coat in need of vitamins, and a good bath overdue, we jumped right in to give him the care he needed to move forward. Through it all, Sarge showed us what a friendly, social guy he is—already comfortable with both people and other dogs. Sarge has a solid foundation, and it’s important that his forever family continue to build on it as he settles into his new home. Food-motivated and eager to please, he loves practicing his commands and happily works for tasty treats. He learns quickly, and with consistent training, he will continue to shine. Sarge is still working on his leash manners and, if given the chance, will gladly pull you along for the ride. Training will be a game changer for this handsome boy—helping him become a well-mannered adult shepherd while strengthening the bond with his new family.

Although it’s clear someone loved Sarge at some point and invested in his early training, we don’t know anything about his past. This lovely lady was in an overcrowded shelter, and just before her time was up, she was rescued by another group dedicated to making sure she's placed in a safe and loving home. That rescue later reached out for help with some of the dogs in their care, and as we all know, teamwork makes the dream work, so MAGSR didn't think twice before stepping forward to assist.

Taffy has been lucky to land in a foster home where she's finally getting the opportunities a young, energetic girl needs. Her amazing fosters have been helping her learn about the joys of being a puppy and taking in the world around her. With her fresh, sponge-like mind, this resilient girl is learning housebreaking, crate training, and polite behaviors that will lay the foundation for a well-mannered adult life. While she is still fine-tuning general manners on leash, she's got a great start and will benefit significantly as all young dogs do from continued training. Living with older rescue dogs, Taffy is quickly learning the ins and outs of pack life. She gets along really well with the other dogs and wouldn't mind landing in a forever home with another friendly pup to play with - or at least more consistent socialization so she can keep learning to speak 'dog'! Highly intelligent and observant, Taffy notices everything around her. She loves adults but struggles around small children. Without a high prey drive, she did well when tested with a cat; in fact, she was more afraid of the cat than anything else. With structure, routine, leadership, and clear expectations from a calm and confident handler, Taffy will blossom into an amazing adult. Woody comes to us under heartbreaking circumstances after his beloved dad passed away. He was deeply loved and well cared for, and it shows in his gentle spirit and joyful nature. Goose is one of those lucky pups whose life could have gone very differently — but thanks to a series of kind hearts and perfect timing, he's safe, loved, and ready for his forever home.

Goose’s journey started before he was even born. His mom, a stray in the South, was found starving and alone. Thankfully, an incredible family took her in, tried everything to find her original home, and when no one came forward, gave her the safety and love she so desperately needed. Just weeks later, she surprised everyone with eight beautiful puppies — Goose being one of them. Goose and his siblings were raised in a warm, loving home with their mom. One by one, his brothers and sisters found homes... and Goose waited. Knowing he deserved a bright future, the family reached out to MAGSR, and a wonderful foster family stepped in to help him take his next steps.

Goose is sweet, curious, and full of potential. He’s great with other dogs and is learning all about the comforts of home life: toys, treats, cozy beds, and couch cuddles. He’s had some exposure to new people and places, but continued socialization will be essential to helping him grow into a confident, well-rounded adult. Meet fabulous Frosty from the Winter Litter! This adorable baby is ready to find his forever family. The **Winter Litter—Tundra, Glacier, and Frosty—**joined the MAGSR family a few weeks ago after being rescued from a local cruelty and neglect situation. An advocate reached out to local law enforcement after discovering these puppies were living in conditions that were simply unimaginable. When they arrived, all three were severely emaciated, full of worms, missing patches of fur, and understandably unsure of new people. They urgently needed rescue placement to begin their journey toward safety and healing. Thanks to our incredible foster families, prescribed medications, structured feeding schedules, and strong veterinary support, all three puppies were welcomed into the safety of the MAGSR family.

Frosty is a loving, playful, and intelligent young pup who thrives when both his mind and body are engaged. Like many puppies who lacked early structure, Frosty has benefited greatly from an experienced foster home that has begun teaching him the ins and outs of living in a home environment. Crate training and housebreaking were first on the list, and Frosty has been doing a wonderful job learning these important skills.

Living in an established pack has also given Frosty the opportunity to learn appropriate social skills and understand pack structure—an essential foundation for his long-term success. With a strong desire to please and excellent food motivation, Frosty has begun learning basic expectations. Continued training and consistent opportunities to learn will help him grow into a confident, well-rounded canine citizen. Hey Everyone, 

I’m Stone, and I’ve had quite the "ruff" journey. After being picked up as a stray in the south, I made my way to the Mid-Atlantic so that I would have a real chance at a forever home at least that's what they told me. To be honest, I had been feeling a little lost and low; it just seemed like nothing was going my way. But, those days are behind me now, and I’m ready for my next chapter. I’m about four years old, up-to-date on all my vaccines, and loving life again. Especially, since I found my way to the MAGSR family. 

Although it's clear I am one handsome dude, I’m also a total social butterfly—I love people and always want to be part of the action. With what they say is a solid foundation of social skills, whatever that means, I get lots of opportunities to meet new people and dogs too. Sometimes, I even attend doggy daycare where I enjoy my time with a variety of doggy personalities. As a southern guy, I’m getting used to the colder weather up north, and I can’t wait to see my first snow! I just know I’m going to love it who wouldn't, right? Just like all shepherds, I’ll thrive with training and consistency, and I’m eager to learn and make my humans proud. Since I'm an active guy, I’ll do best in a home with a yard to play in, where I can stretch my legs, chase toys, and enjoy the sunshine.

Shania, along with her sisters Reba and Lainey, came from an accidental litter. We are lovingly calling them the Country Puppies. Born without the resources or care they needed, the girls spent their early days living outside without consistent attention or guidance. Recognizing that the puppies deserved a safer, healthier start, their owner made the responsible decision to surrender them to MAGSR. This opened the door for each girl to grow into a confident, stable adult with the support of a loving family.

Shania is a brave little sweetheart with a big heart and an even bigger desire for love. Despite her tough beginnings, she’s discovering just how wonderful the world can be—one cuddle, treat, and wagging tail at a time. Curious, affectionate, and looking for direction, she’s finally experiencing the positive moments she missed early on. Shania can be a little shy with new people and unfamiliar environments. She’s still learning that new experiences can be fun and that people are typically kind. Her foster family is working diligently to help her build confidence, and she is responding beautifully to their leadership. As with all shepherds, training will go a long way in helping Shania grow. It will not only teach her the skills she needs to be a good canine citizen, but also help her form a strong, trusting bond with her forever family. With time, patience, and consistent guidance, Shania is opening up and showing her people her truly amazing personality.

Having lived with several dogs in her previous home, Shania is dog-friendly and people-friendly. We don’t yet know how she’ll do with cats or other small furry friends, but time will tell. As adorable as she is, Shania is still very much a puppy. She will whine, have accidents, and entertain you with endless puppy antics. But with training, routine, and plenty of opportunities to learn, Shania will grow into an incredible adult dog. 'Dashing Deacon’ was found prancing along the streets as a stray. Deacon is a devilishly handsome (possible SuperModel status) fella who is a two-and-a-half-year-old stunner of a long-haired black and red GSD looking for his ‘fur-ever’ family. Over time we have had the chance to get to know Deacon. With this knowledge has come a strong understanding of just how clever this boy is (and how much of a natural leader he is!). As a result, Deacon will only be placed with an experienced and assertive handler to help him become a strong, confident, and obedient companion. This striking boy has a strong personality and appreciates clear guidance from his people. Though he can be willful when he knows what he wants, Deacon is ready to channel his charm into becoming a model canine citizen. Already equipped with a solid training foundation, Deacon is looking for someone who will continue that training to build a confident and healthy bond. In fact, Deacon already knows his basic commands and then some. He can't wait to continue this process and may even be a good match for agility, fly ball, or scent work.

As a young, active shepherd, Deacon is looking for a family that can exercise his body and his mind on a daily basis. True of all shepherds, pent up energy can result in unwanted behaviors. He is the epitome of the saying - "A tired dog is a good dog." Well versed with a variety of toys, this majestic fluffball absolutely loves soccer balls, lacrosse balls, squeaky balls, textured balls, really any ball he can chase and chew on! He also loves bones.. but sometimes he needs an extra reminder or two when asked to give them back! Deacon loves playing tug of war with his toys, wrestling with his humans, and he even does great at doggy day care. However, as is true of all dogs, it is important that Deacon develop relationships with other dogs in controlled settings over a period of time. 

From time to time, Deacon is surprised by sudden movements and sounds; this often results in anxiety. With a clear understanding of Deacon's energy level and needs, his ideal match will not live in a city or busy neighborhood. A calmer, less hectic environment is key to Deacon's success.
