Shaye’s story begins like so many others—found as a stray and brought into an overcrowded shelter, where too many dogs and not enough space create heartbreaking outcomes every day. He waited patiently for a family to come for him, but when no one did, his future quickly became uncertain. Knowing Shaye was a wonderful dog who deserved a real chance, shelter staff refused to give up on him and reached out far and wide for help. Thankfully, that plea was heard, and MAGSR stepped in, welcoming Shaye to safety and promising him a brighter future.

Upon his arrival, Shaye was fortunate to be placed in an incredible foster home who has been ensuring he is safe and loved. Unsurprisingly, Shaye has shown just how special he is. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy who has settled in beautifully and is already picking up on the routines of home life. A quick learner, Shaye hasn’t had a single accident in the house—he appears to be fully housebroken, which is always a great start! He gets along well with other dogs and especially enjoys the company of a younger, playful pup, though his activity is currently being limited due to medical needs. True of all new furry family members, Shaye does have a few things he’s still working on. Like many young, enthusiastic dogs, he’s learning that “four on the floor” is the way to go and that good leash manners make walks more enjoyable for everyone. He can be a bit distracted outside, showing some prey drive toward squirrels, birds, and other small critters, so continued training and guidance will help him stay focused. Structure, routine, and leadership will help Shaye thrive. 

Shaye is currently being treated for heartworm, a condition that is entirely preventable but unfortunately all too common. While treatment requires rest and restricted activity for a few months, his prognosis is excellent. Once he’s fully recovered, Shaye will be able to enjoy life as a happy, active dog. His care is ongoing, and donations to support his treatment not only help Shaye but also allow more dogs like him to receive the medical attention they need.

Personality-wise, Shaye truly shines. He’s energetic, playful, confident, and incredibly loving—a happy-go-lucky dog with a gentle, intuitive side. He already knows “sit” and “shake,” and he absolutely melts into a puddle of fur when you give him chest scratches. Mars was deeply loved by his dad. From the very beginning, he was given everything he needed to thrive — socialization, veterinary care, training, structure, and endless love. His dad was devoted to making sure Mars grew into the wonderful dog he is today. Sometimes life changes in ways no one could ever predict. When Mars and his dad were suddenly separated, his dad’s greatest concern was making sure Mars would always be safe, cared for, and loved. He refused to let his boy face an uncertain future alone. Reaching out to MAGSR for help, he trusted that our team could give Mars the stability and support he deserved while helping his family move forward through a difficult chapter.

Mars is a handsome, intelligent, and well-socialized German Shepherd with so much to offer his future family. He has already received informal training in the home and knows several basic commands, including sit, stay, and recall. He is eager to engage with his people and responds well to calm, consistent guidance. Mars enjoys his daily walks and with clear handling is very responsive. Like many young, social shepherds, he can become excited when he sees other dogs because he genuinely wants to interact and play. His excitement is not rooted in aggression, but he will benefit from continued work on leash manners and impulse control in stimulating environments.

Mars is friendly and social with people, including strangers after proper introductions. He may bark briefly when someone unfamiliar approaches the home, but this is simply alert behavior rather than aggression. He has also shown himself to be gentle and appropriate with children. One of Mars’ greatest strengths is his stable temperament and strong bond with people. He comes from working-line German Shepherd parents, both of whom served as police dogs, so he is naturally intelligent, energetic, and thrives when given structure and engagement. He would do wonderfully with a family committed to continued training, regular activity, and providing appropriate mental and physical outlets. Despite his energy level, Mars also has an excellent off switch indoors and is happy to quietly relax near his person for long periods of time.

In the home, Mars is well-mannered and house trained. He signals when he needs to go outside and does not display destructive behaviors such as excessive chewing or counter surfing. He is crate trained, comfortable resting in his crate, and can safely have bedding or blankets without issue. Although he already knows many of the ins and outs of household life, Mars, like any new dog, will need decompression time and patience while adjusting to the routines and expectations of his forever family. With time, training, and clear structure, Mars will thrive.

George’s story began with both love and heartbreak. As one of five siblings, he was raised outdoors by his devoted mom, who kept her babies safe, warm, and cared for. Tragically, during a severe storm, their mother was swept from a riverbank and lost. A kind-hearted Good Samaritan witnessed the event and quickly stepped in, bringing the puppies to safety and giving them a chance at a better life. While three of his siblings have already found loving homes, George and his brother Paul are still waiting for theirs. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and caring foster families, George is now thriving in a home environment and showing just how special he is.

George is a curious, playful, and adventurous pup with a big personality. He’s social, intelligent, and already understands many of the dynamics of living with other dogs. He’s made fast friends with his foster brother and enjoys being part of the pack. This handsome boy is a big fan of toys and can happily entertain himself (and you!) with his playful antics. He loves cuddles, outdoor playtime, and exploring the yard. George is already doing well with housebreaking and appears to be crate trained, making his transition into a forever home even smoother.

Regal Rory was originally welcomed to the MAGSR family as a puppy. She was one of the Baseball Puppies. Having lived with an amazing foster family, Rory had developed a good foundation of social skills and was adopted into a loving household. Although her family had every intention of loving Rory for a lifetime, when a family dynamic shifted, the decision was made that it was in Rory's best interest to return her to the MAGSR family. Surrendering a cherished member of the family is never a decision that is made lightly. Rory's family adored her; however, they knew that she would be more successful if placed in a different home. We know this was not easy for Rory's family, but we promised to find her an incredible match so that she can move forward and meet with success. 

In many ways still a puppy, Rory is young, energetic, and curious about the world around her. However, having left the home she expected to remain in for the rest of her life, she is a little unsure right now. Recognizing that Rory will need some time to decompress and adjust to new people and environments, our team is working with her to help her meet with success. Rory's new family will need to ensure that she is given time, patience, structure, and routine in her new household. This will help lovely Rory thrive. Once comfortable, Rory is a playful and loving girl. She enjoys toys and loves to learn new tricks. When playtime is finished, Rory is an expert cuddler. She is a great balance of joy and affection. Having lived in a loving home, Rory understands many of the ins and outs of living in a household. She is both housebroken and crate trained. However, as is true of all new dogs, she will need time to learn the specific expectations of her new family. Training will be beyond helpful for Rory. Mozerella is everything you’d hope for in a young German Shepherd—intelligent, playful, and affectionate. With a few big changes behind him, he’s currently learning to adjust to his new surroundings. Very nose-oriented, he’s been busy exploring the world through scent, taking in everything from the fresh air outside to cozy beds and treats indoors. Still very much a young dog at heart, Mozerella thrives with structure, routine, and clear expectations. Continued socialization will be important for him as he grows—opportunities to safely meet new people and other animals will help him build confidence and strengthen his already solid foundation. Training will also play a key role, not only to reinforce good manners but to help him form a strong bond with his forever family and become the best companion he can be.

Having lived in a loving home, Mozerella already understands many household routines. He is housebroken and crate trained, and he has experience living with both dogs and a cat. His play style can be a bit rough at times, but he responds well to correction from other dogs. With the cat, he enjoyed a playful chase now and then but showed that he could respect boundaries when told playtime was over. Mozerella is a big fan of toys, daily activity, and—of course—treats. He approaches life with enthusiasm and joy, and he’s ready to share that energy with a family of his own. Sweet Fritz is the man that checks all of the boxes — the dog your friends say would never be found in a rescue or shelter.

       Tall, dark and handsome?

       Well behaved?

       Distinguished and chill? 

So how did he end up with MAGSR? The heartbreaking story of outliving his owners. Fritz had a comfortable and loving life with another dog and his favorite person until one day his person was just...gone. His housemate was rehomed and kind hands made sure that Fritz made his way to a safe middle ground with MAGSR. Poor Fritz has experienced unimaginable change and loss in his senior years but he still greets every day with joy and love. We'd say he wakes up with a tail wag every day, but he seems to be missing the essential ingredient for such activity! Don't worry, he doesn't miss it and he's such a giant hunk of a dog we don't think you will, either. 

Fritz is currently living in a foster home with a small dog and a cat. He has been friendly with everyone he has met, a true gentle giant. Fritz wants to be near his people first and foremost- a velcro dog who just wants to experience his golden years in the company of those who love him. He still has plenty of zest for life, enjoying nice walks, cozy beds and sweet snuggles-- enjoying every moment with the people who love him! Senior dogs are special treasures that fill their homes with a gentle kind of companionship and love. Fritz is simply wishing for a family to come along who will treasure him during his golden years and offer him the stability, kindness and love that he deserves. 

Stunning Simba is the father of the Fall puppies - Autumn, Cider, Ember, Maple, Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato (Tator). These babies were an accidental litter that was raised with their parents. Although his human family loved him, it can be difficult to properly train, care for, and provide adequate stimulation for a large number of dogs. Recognizing that this family would be most successful if placed within a breed specific rescue, their family contacted MAGSR. With a no family left behind policy, we did not think twice when asked to take dad along with the Fall puppies. MAGSR has promised to find every member of this family a safe and loving forever home that will cherish them for a lifetime. 

Simba moved into the rescue a few weeks ago. As he was not given the opportunity to socialize outside of his family and had been exposed to a child who was not treating him appropriately, we placed him with an experienced foster family. Not only is this family able to provide Simba with opportunities to socialize in controlled settings and with new people and animals, but they are also able to provide Simba with training. Training, as is true with all dogs, is key to Simba's success. One of our training partners, Mason Dixon K9, has already begun Simba's program. This is helping him develop the confidence and stability needed to move forward. As he continues to move forward with a family of his very own, MDK9 has committed to providing Simba with a lifetime of support. Simba is lucky to have so many people in his corner. 

Simba is a very intelligent and active guy. He's also a sweetheart who loves a good cuddle. He is looking for a forever family that will provide him with an appropriate balance of exercise, playtime, and snuggles. It is critical that Simba's family provide him with daily opportunities to exercise both his body and his mind. This will help him maintain a stable presence in his forever home. In addition, Simba's family will need to infuse structure, routine, and leadership into their daily interactions. This set-up is essential for the success of all GSDs. Mavis is a joyful, energetic 6-month-old pup with a heart as big as her personality. Always ready to play, explore, and make new friends, she truly is the life of the party. From the moment shelter staff met her after she was picked up as a stray in the South, they knew Mavis was something special—a little spark of endless joy in an overcrowded shelter full of dogs needing help. Fearing she might be overlooked due to overcrowding, a plea was sent out for her. While many rescues were already overwhelmed, our team stepped forward with a plan, and Mavis walked out the shelter doors and into the MAGSR family.

With a solid social foundation already in place, Mavis has learned that many people are just as excited to say hello as she is. Continued socialization will be key to her success, as she benefits from positive experiences with new people, animals, and environments. She is a smart, curious girl who learns quickly and loves people of all sizes. Mavis adores kids and has a playful spirit, though—like most young pups—she is still learning her manners. With training, structure, and clear boundaries, she could be a wonderful companion for a child to grow up with and a true best friend.

Mavis does best with a calm, confident leader and often looks to her handler for reassurance, especially when encountering new sounds or situations. As a former stray, she can be a bit skittish at times, but with confidence-building and continued positive exposure, she continues to thrive and grow.

Thanks to time in a fantastic temporary foster home, we’ve learned that Mavis already has great house skills. She is housebroken, crate trained, and polite on leash. She takes care of business right away when outside and will sit patiently while waiting for her leash to be removed—though, as a young pup, she can get a little excited if it takes too long! Occasionally, the world is just a bit too exciting and she may dash suddenly on leash, but overall she is learning quickly. Mavis enjoys relaxing with her people and has a love-hate relationship with the TV—she likes to watch, but may react when animals or certain sounds appear. She’s incredibly affectionate and believes being a lap dog is a very serious job. Having been overcorrected in the past, Mavis may briefly retreat when told “no,” but she quickly bounces back, eager to give kisses and reassure herself that all is well.

Each time she began to settle in, another change followed. Fortunately, her most recent owner recognized that Kieko deserved stability and made the thoughtful decision to surrender her to a local shelter only two weeks after bringing her home. Knowing Kieko needed a permanent, supportive placement, shelter staff reached out to MAGSR for help. We knew this adorable little lady would thrive in rescue, and thanks to an incredible foster family stepping forward, Kieko officially joined the MAGSR family.

In many ways, Kieko is your typical young German Shepherd puppy—curious, energetic, and eager to explore the world around her. She has previously lived with other dogs and cats; however, her prey drive is a bit too strong for feline friends, so a cat-free home will be best for her moving forward. While we don’t know much about her early history, it’s clear that someone invested time in giving Kieko a solid socialization foundation. She enjoys people and happily cuddles up for affection.

Because of the many changes she has experienced early in life, Kieko will need time to adjust and settle into her forever home. With patience, consistency, and continued training, she will absolutely thrive. Kieko already walks well on leash and knows several basic cues, including sit, stay, paw, and down. Like many puppies, she’s still learning appropriate manners and can be a bit enthusiastic, especially when it comes to keeping all four paws on the floor. This is a normal puppy behavior that will improve with clear expectations, structure, and training. Overall, Kieko is a joyful, affectionate puppy who loves to run, play, and soak up attention from her people.

While Kieko is beyond delightful, it’s important to remember that she is still a puppy. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and bring plenty of playful chaos along with them. Structure, routine, training, and continued socialization will be the keys to Kieko’s long-term success. Hannah has known love her whole life. Since she was a puppy, she lived in a devoted home where she was absolutely adored by her dad. Understanding how important socialization is, he made sure Hannah had plenty of positive experiences meeting new people — and it shows! Hannah is a true social butterfly who happily wins over every friendly face she meets. Sadly, life took an unexpected turn. When her dad developed a serious health condition, he made the heartbreaking but selfless decision to rehome Hannah so she could continue to receive the care and life she deserves. Wanting the very best for her, he reached out to MAGSR, knowing a breed-specific rescue would help set her up for success. Our team immediately recognized how special she is and welcomed her with open arms.

Hannah is a young, intelligent, and attentive girl with a wonderful head on her shoulders. She reads her handler’s cues beautifully and is eager to respond. Having been exposed to other dogs throughout her life, she understands many canine social signals. That said, she does best with slow and proper introductions to ensure positive, successful interactions. While in our care, she’s been working regularly with handlers to continue building those skills.

Thanks to her home experience, Hannah already knows the ins and outs of indoor living. She is housebroken and crate trained. As with any new dog, she will need time, patience, and understanding as she settles into her forever home. When things got a little too chaotic, Kahless showed his thoughtful side—quietly stepping away to relax in a calm space when he needed a break. Known as the peacemaker of the pack, Kahless got along beautifully with everyone and brought a steady, grounding presence to the home. He was the kind of dog who helped keep the balance. His family loved him deeply, but with so much activity and responsibility in the home, they realized they couldn’t give Kahless the one-on-one attention he deserved. Not every dog gets to spend their life curled up on a couch, showered with affection, and surrounded by family. Ivy’s story is a reminder of just how resilient dogs can be — even when life hasn't always been as kind as you may hope.

Though Ivy has known human kindness, she has never known the comfort of a true home until now. She came to MAGSR having never lived in a home, yet her soulful eyes and calm presence speak of a dog who still believes in love. Physically, Ivy carries the weight of a life spent giving more than she received. Her body shows signs of many litters, untreated medical conditions, and severe arthritis. When her pain became too much to ignore, a decision was made to give Ivy the care she so desperately needed — and she joined the MAGSR family.

One of our amazing senior foster families immediately stepped up, giving Ivy her very first taste of home: a comfortable household, soft beds, quiet spaces, and unconditional love. Despite her past, Ivy is gentle, affectionate, and slowly learning the joys of being a beloved companion. She enjoys short walks, tasty treats, and has recently discovered the magic of dog beds.

But Ivy's journey is far from over. Upon arrival, she was diagnosed with:

• Severe arthritis in her front left leg, causing her significant pain and lameness
• A skin infection requiring treatment before other procedures could take place
• Ulcerated tumors and masses on her chest and belly
• Underweight frame, which needed to be addressed before surgery could commence

This week, Ivy bravely underwent a complicated hysterectomy, had several masses removed, and began treatment to address her discomfort. Radiographs of her joins and chest were taken to determine the extent of her needs. Consultations with specialists also took place. At this time biopsy results are pending, and more invasive care may be needed. Despite everything, Ivy remains calm, loving, and endlessly patient — a true testament to her spirit. She is wearing her surgical pajamas like a champ, is adjusting to the cone and pro collar, and has been very patient when going through daily clean up and care. Ivy isn’t available for adoption just yet, but she will be — once she’s strong, healthy, and ready for the next chapter of her life.

Sweet Mama Sage found herself in an incredibly tough situation in the South after being surrendered to an overcrowded shelter - one where many dogs step in but never get the chance to step back out due to a lack of space. Fate, however, had other plans. As Sage arrived with a hidden surprise inside, a local rescue volunteer happened to be walking out. Recognizing the danger Sage faced, she immediately began networking this lovely girl, determined to give her a chance at a future. At the same time, MAGSR was already in conversations about another dog at the same shelter. Knowing Sage (and her special surprises) had no other options, our team made the decision that saving a few lives was better than saving one—and the girls joined the MAGSR family.

Upon arrival, our volunteers quickly discovered that Sage brought more than one little friend along - she brought nine! Sage was pregnant and due very soon. Knowing this little family would need a safe place to begin, one of our amazing fosters stepped forward and welcomed the Sage into her home. The family would multiply significantly within a couple weeks. Just before 2026 began, Sage welcomed nine furry babies to the world - the Nature Puppies (Brook, Wren, Terra, Briar, Moss, Timber, Hawk, Falcon, and Buckeye)! These little bundles of joy have been learning all about the world around them while under the watchful eye of their mother, Sage, and their incredible foster family. 

Unlike many babies who have joined the rescue family under very different circumstances, the Nature Puppies have had constant love, care, attention, and vetting since they were born. They have been learning social skills within a pack and have a good understanding of toys. Although these babies have had a loving start, it is critical that their forever families continue this process. Socialization with other people and animals in a variety of environments will be essential. Training will also be necessary for their success. Training will not only help the Nature puppies build a solid bond with their forever family, but it will also help these babies grow into good canine citizens. 

Although the Nature Puppies are beyond adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless puppy antics. With time, patience, routine, and training, we know each of the Nature Puppies will become loving members of their forever family. Worf spent his entire life with one family, growing up in a busy home filled with a large pack of dogs and a revolving door of at least six kids. He adored his family and thrived in the hustle and bustle, doing wonderfully with the children around him. As one of the more confident dogs in the pack, Worf understood structure, though he occasionally clashed with an older alpha dog. His family loved him deeply, but with so many moving parts in the home, they realized they couldn’t give Worf the individual attention he truly deserved. When Worf joined the MAGSR family, one thing was immediately clear — “that’s a lotta dog!” And it’s true… but it’s all wrapped up in affection for people. Worf is incredibly sweet in the home. Whether he’s lounging on the couch or proudly bringing you his favorite toy for a game of fetch, he just wants to be near his humans. He has been wonderful with visitors in his foster home and remains friendly and composed when meeting new people out on walks. Smart and eager, Worf already knows some basic commands and does best with structure, routine, and clear expectations. Continued training will not only strengthen his bond with his future family but also help him grow into an exceptional canine companion.

Although she hasn’t been around children before, her friendly, social nature suggests she would greet them with the same enthusiasm she shows adults.

Sim is a fun-loving, curious companion who thrives on attention and playtime. She’s happiest when she’s part of the action, whether that’s going for a run, playing in the yard, or just soaking up affection from her favorite humans. She’s loyal, full of personality, and has an infectious zest for life that makes every day brighter. Sim is simply all about enjoying every ounce of life. As is true of the breed, particularly younger GSDs, Sim will thrive with continued training, clear boundaries, and consistent structure. She knows how to sit and shake paws, but she’s still working on perfecting her potty training and leash manners. Her curiosity sometimes gets the best of her—she may zigzag on walks, pull ahead to investigate something fascinating, or stubbornly stop when something catches her eye—but with patience, direction, and positive reinforcement, she’s eager to learn and please.

At home, Sim is a bundle of energy and curiosity. She doesn’t guard her food, toys, or space and plays well with other dogs, though her enthusiasm can sometimes overwhelm those who want quiet time. Sim is definitely not a couch potato. With this in mind, she is still working on understanding boundaries and can get herself into a bit of mischief. Sim has been known to chew on household items, dig in the yard or trash, and even counter surf for interesting objects (though not food!). She’s also quite the clever girl—when she needs to go outside, she’ll sometimes try to open doors herself by standing on her hind legs and turning the knob. She’s not crate trained yet and can’t have bedding or blankets, as she enjoys tearing them apart, but with time and guidance, she’ll learn what’s hers to play with. When provided with clear rules, routines, and structures, Sim will shine. 

Sim’s best qualities are her friendly, loving spirit and her playful energy. She adores people and always wants to be involved in what’s going on. She would thrive in a home that can give her plenty of exercise, affection, and patient training. She’s beautiful, smart, and full of potential—what more could you ask for? Pan and his five siblings were part of an accidental litter. Fortunately, their family recognized the importance of making sure the entire litter had the support and resources needed to succeed. Wanting the very best for all six little lives, they reached out to a local rescue group for help. The puppies were welcomed into rescue and began their journey toward finding forever homes. Several of Pan’s siblings quickly found their families, leaving this sweet boy still searching for his perfect match. Knowing that Pan would thrive in a breed-specific rescue, the group reached out to MAGSR for help. We knew right away that this handsome little guy would be a wonderful addition to the MAGSR family.

Pan is an exceptional puppy with a wonderful start to his training. He is already about 98% house trained and will politely whine to let you know when he needs to go outside. Pan is also crate trained and, for a puppy, has a slightly calmer and lower-energy personality than many puppies. Of course, he still enjoys playtime and puppy adventures, but he also has a sweet, easygoing side. This handsome boy truly loves everyone he meets. Like most puppies, Pan is playful and still learning boundaries as he grows. He has been well socialized with other dogs, cats, adults, and children, giving him a great foundation as he searches for his forever family.
