Luc, along with his siblings Liam and Lieve lived outside without proper care or an adequate amount of food for growing puppies. Thankfully they were brought to our attention and brought into our care. They were underweight, but with proper nutrition they have gained weight. Luc is the runt of the litter, he is missing the tip of one of his ears, we do not know what happened. The pups are a mix of Dutch Shepherd (dad) and Belgian Malinois (mom). Both of these breeds are very high energy dogs that require a lot of exercise of both their bodies and minds, along with obedience training, ongoing socialization and direction. It is imperative that you have the time, everyday, to work with them on their training and can meet their exercise needs. We will only consider adopters that have prior experience with working line dogs. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment.

One of the largest puppy mill busts found hundreds of German Shepherd's living in absolute filth and in horrendous condition. Ankle deep mud and feces mixed with urine, no adequate shelter, lacking food and clean water is how these dogs were left to live, many for years. The urgent call was made and MAGSR knew we had to take in as many as possible. We now have 38 dogs that have a multitude of medical needs that we are addressing, and they need to learn to trust humans. All dogs are scared, some are shut down, but our volunteers and vets will get them on their road to recovery. It will be awhile before these dogs are ready for adoption, so please be patient and watch for updates.
An undertaking of this size for an all-volunteer rescue is quite a task, but one we are meeting it head on. Many of the dogs require medical boarding so that they can receive the best possible care. We are committed to providing everything they need, not only medically, but emotionally. Our medical costs are going to be at an amount we have never seen before. We need your help, the dogs need your help. Please donate , your donation will go towards their ongoing care, medical needs, emotional needs and help them on their road to recovery and a brighter future.

Archie came to us after being confiscated for cruelty. Witnesses saw his former owner beating him with a metal baton and the police were called. Archie sustained trauma to his head, which left an open wound to his head along with a fractured frontal sinus cavity. He also has fractured teeth which are being extracted. There were old scars possibly from earlier abuse. Archie received immediate medical treatment for his injuries. Although Archie is a mix breed we could not leave him behind. We welcomed him into MAGSR with open arms as an honorary GSD. Archie is currently residing in medical care under the watchful eyes of vets. So far they have seen no deficits, and he seems to have recovered both physically and mentally from traumatic event. Archie is a fun, friendly, high energize boy. He loves to romp around and play a good game of fetch. He will require a family that can match his energy level in order for him to receive the exercise he will need. Archie is needing a family that will treat him with kindness, that will provide him with a safe and stable home, lots of love and care.

Riana came to us after being confiscated in a cruelty case. Another dog in the home was seen being beaten with a metal baton and the police were called. We do not know if Riana was abused, but she does have recently fractured teeth and had a cut under her eye. She is undergoing a complete exam by one of our vets and will have the fractured teeth extracted if necessary.
She has been in a foster home for a few days now and she settled right in. She is a happy, friendly girl who enjoys the company of other dogs. Riana deserves a family that will treat her with kindness, provide her with love, structure and proper care.

Lincoln came to us from a home where he lived as an only dog and with a single man. He did not have socialization outside of the home, so we do not know how he is with children, cats or other dogs. While in our care he has been in the area of other dogs with no reaction, but he has not been formally introduced to other dogs. He has been friendly with our volunteers and easy to handle with an experienced handler. Lincoln can become protective of his person, this will need to be addressed with proper training and handling. Lincoln enjoys a game of fetch and chasing off squirrels from his yard. We feel it best that Lincoln be adopted by a family that has experience with the breed and their protective trait.
