Sonic
ADOPTED 12/08/2017!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sonic was adopted from MAGSR as a puppy in 2009, sadly his family decided to return him today as they did not want to work with the anxiety Sonic developed after being scared by fireworks when home alone. Sonic was a loving and loyal family member to his family and 2 children for the last 8 years, but that was not enough to earn the love and loyalty of his family. Understandably Sonic is confused as to where his family is, he will need time to adjust to the sudden and drastic changes in his life. We are now getting to know Sonic as an adult, as we learn more about him we will post updates.
Update: Sonic may be a little older, but he is energetic and curious. He may be weary at first; however with a little time and effort, he will want nothing more than to be by your side. He has a very anxious personality, which may be because the only family he has ever known is no longer in his life (who wouldn’t be a little upset). Sonic doesn’t really like to play, but will be the happiest when going on a walk and sniffing everything and anything he can. He can be a little uneasy in his crate, but he’s easily calmed when he is reassured. Sonic is excellent when being brushed, and likes to be in your lap (or as close to you as possible) while being brushed.
Grizzly
ADOPTED 12/05/2017!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 10
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Grizzly is the son of Apache and the brother to Keena. Grizzly does best with another dog as they help him relax. He is somewhat shy, he will require someone with patience and who will work on helping him build his confidence. Training will go along way and certainly help with him getting use to being on a leash. He is a sweet boy just a little unsure, it is obvious he was not well socialized, but with your help he should blossom.
Cyrus
ADOPTED 12/02/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Cyrus is very puppylike. He does know how to sit and give paw. But he needs general obedience. He is a fun, smaller guy that would greatly benefit from group training so that he learns how to socially interact with other dogs.
He loves people. He loves to play fetch with a ball and is eager to explore new things. He likes car rides, is very food motivated and is eager to please his person.
He will need someone with patience and time to teach him right from wrong. Because he's a little grabby and hard on the fingers when it comes to taking treats, he might be better suited in a household without toddlers or very young children.
Updates:Cyrus is progressing nicely! With regards to his behavior, he is learning what is expected and what is not permitted. He's a fun, charismatic, exuberant pup. We have been socializing him with Sherman (another MAGSR dog) and they get along quite well, reason being that Sherman is a calm, confident, socialized dog. This would be an ideal time for Cyrus to get into a foster home or adoptive home and to start obedience training as he is showing the wilingness to focus on commands and tasks.
Just recently, Cyrus’ manners have improved a lot and he is really showing signs of maturing. He is now being worked with another socialized, well balanced dog and behaving himself very nicely. He is also taking treats much better and his focus is continuing to improve. In addition to this, he was just recently introduced to several people he did not know including children and we are very proud of the way he conducted himself.
He is an awesome dog. He is happy to be with his people and a playful goofy puppy. He loves marrow bones with peanut butter and playing with toys in general. He also loves to give HUGS! He does better in a vari-kennel as opposed to a wire crate. He has not had any accidents in the house. We are working through his crate anxiety. We play music for him, have used lavender in the room to soothe him and calming treats bought at Pet Value and we have not had issues with him breaking out of our crate. He absolutely loves car rides and meeting new people! He does have some bad habits such as counter surfing but he easily corrects. He does still need strong guidance as he does tend to want to push him limits as he is a young male full of life!!
Dasha
ADOPTED 11/29/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Dasha found herself dumped at a shelter. She is a gorgeous long hair 5 year old girl. She has not had the best of care, her coat sparse, full of dirt and fleas. She has some hair loss, a skin and ear infection from flea dermatitis and poor nutrition. She is now being well cared for in her foster home. She has been treated for fleas and her skin infection and she is eating a high quality food with some supplements. She needs to gain some weight and grow back some of her coat but she is beautiful regardless. She enjoys playing with other dogs but can sometimes be bossy and pushy. She would do best with a non dominant dog, as she wants to be the queen.
Updates:I’m settling in at my foster-home with my foster brother. I love to cuddle, have my belly rubbed and my nose scratched. I love taking long walks and playing with my foster brother. At first I wasn’t sure about playing with toys but now I love playing with tennis balls. My foster Mom took me to the vet to get medicine to help fur grow back and now I look so much better and my fur is so soft. I’m gaining weight and getting better with basic commands but I still have a lot to learn.
I’m doing great at my fosters house. My fur has all grown back and I had to have 6 teeth pulled because I wore them down so much. It doesn’t bother me at all that I have missing teeth you just have to hold you hand flat for me if you have a small treat. I love meeting new people when my fosters take me places with them and I love riding in the car. I’m doing better and better every day with my basic commands and I really want to learn more. My foster Mom say I look funny when I play fetch because I try to catch the ball with my paws and mouth at the same time. I can’t wait to find my forever home and to have someone to love!
I’m doing great at my fosters but I hope to find my forever home soon. I love kids and I’m good with cats. I love going on adventures, meeting new people (especially kids), playing fetch with my foster and with myself and playing with my fosters dog Jake. I'm good at walking on a leash and I’m getting better with my basic commands every day. I can’t wait to take a class so I can learn so much more.
Emory
ADOPTED 11/26/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Emory is a big, sweet, fun loving 10 month old puppy. How this handsome boy ended up as a stray and in a shelter is beyond us. He has all of the mannerisms of a puppy, playful and goofy. He is looking for a family who will provide him with training, guidance, playtime, walks, love and care for his lifetime.
Updates:Emory is a goofy little boy that loves attention and sometimes wishes he was a lap dog. He wants to be where you are at all times, but is also fine staying in a crate while you're away. He loves to run and play with chew toys. He is housebroken and working on basic commands, but will benefit from more obedience training. He gets along very well with other dogs. He wants to meet every person he sees. He will shy away from strange, loud noises, and if he thinks he's done something wrong he'll run a short distance away and sit down until you go over and comfort him. With some more training and confidence building he will be a loyal, loving companion for his lucky new family.
Blitz
ADOPTED 11/26/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Blitz was found dumped on the side of the road, very scared and confused. This sweet boy is deaf and was alone it was no wonder he was scared. Don't let the idea of a deaf dog scare you from adopting him, they can be easily trained with the use of a vibration collar and hand signals. Blitz didn't deserve to tossed away like trash, he is a sweet and loving puppy who will make a wonderful family member. He is currently in a foster home getting use to his new surroundings and of course living the good life he so deserves. Please open your heart and home to him, he will be forever grateful.
Updates:Blitz loves to play, when he’s not running around with one of my dogs he is following me around being jovial. He is housebroken, he makes it through the entire night. He has not had one accident since he has gotten here. He’s great on the leash, he doesn't pull but walks beside you. He loves to chew on bones and is really good at figuring out what’s his and what isn’t.He is also a big teddy bear, he loves to snuggle and give Eskimo kisses.
Blitz just loves toys and balls - he sorts through the toy box to find just the right one to play with each time. Blitz is very friendly and social and is happy playing with his foster fur-sibling and doesn't mind being in the crate either. If Blitz sounds like a good fit for you, ask to meet him today.
Nala
ADOPTED 11/26/2017!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Nala was surrendered to a shelter as her family was moving. Sweet Nala was so frightened at the shelter, her world was turned upside down. She would love to be out of a kennel and back into a home with a family of her very own, one that will cherish her for her lifetime. She may very well be house broken, as she keeps her kennel area clean and waits to be taken outside to go potty. She is young, full of energy and puppy playfulness. Of course she requires training to learn good canine manners and leash skills.
Trey
ADOPTED 11/26/2017!
Good With Kids: Yes
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Trey is a sweet 7 month old black & tan bi-color. He is still very much a puppy, full of playfulness and puppy antics. He has a lot to learn and that is where training comes in. He will learn good manners, leash skills and obedience all while creating a bond with his new family. Direction, consistency, exercise, walks, playtime and love for his lifetime, are you ready to make the commitment....if so ask to meet Trey
Updates:We've had Trey for nearly a week and he has been great. He gets along well with our resident dog as well as other dogs he met at a local park. He has shown no signs of aggression, quite the opposite, his tail is in constant motion and loves attention and playing with our dog (we have no idea what he'll do around cats). He has taken to crate training nicely and there have been no accidents. In his short time with us he has learned sit and is getting better about walking on a leash, he appears quite happy to be engaged with training. All indications are he'll make a fantastic addition to your family.
Zale
ADOPTED 11/24/2017!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 10
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Zale found himself in a shelter after being picked up as a stray. He is a very handsome young Belgian Malinois. Right now he is skittish and scared, which comes with all of the changes he has been through. He is being given time to adjust to his new surroundings. While Malinois' may look similar to German Shepherds they are not the same dogs. They are often times high energy requiring extended daily exercise and activities, they need ongoing training and socialization with people and other dogs. They are active, loving and enjoy having a job. Malinois' are not for someone who is looking for a laid back, couch potato. Zale will need a family that can meet his needs both physically and mentally.
Updates:Zale is a very friendly guy. He is non aggressive to other dogs and friendly with all people. He hasn’t spent much time inside and is learning about stairs, doors and reflective surfaces. Despite this, his manners are pretty good - he lets you know when he needs to go out, was impeccable at the vet and will only chew on his dog toys. He is a high energy boy and wants to go go go! Yet he is also happy to climb into your lap for a shoulder hug and a few kisses. If you’re looking for a hiking or running partner and want a loving companion- Zale is you dog!!
Zale has been introduced to many new things and has proven to be curious and not reactive. He has met kids, big and toddler size, cats and very small dogs; he has been to the pet store and behaved impeccably; and he has good leash manners and has mastered the “release” command. Everyone who meets him says he is beautiful, sweet and love his hugs and kisses. He likes to chew and needs options so he doesn’t pick the wrong thing to chew like his dog bed. He crates well and is a quick learner. What is not to love about Zale?!
Kimbra
ADOPTED 11/22/2017!
Good With Kids: Unknown
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Kimbra was found as a stray along with Admiral. We are not sure if they lived together but they seem very close and enjoy each other's company. From what we know of her so far, she seems sweet with a friendly disposition, she is good with other dogs. Of course she will need to attend training classes so that she can be the best she can be, training also helps with creating a strong bond with her new family.
Updates:
I had the pleasure of walking Kimbra this morning. She is so sweet, smart, and loving. She loves tummy rubs and smiles while she revels in the joy. She walks well on leash, too. She knows sit, down, and roll over.
