Adopted MAGSR Dogs

Some dogs are passed around far too many times in their young lives, and sweet Kieko is one of them. At just five months old, she has already experienced more transitions than any puppy should. Each time she began to settle in, another change followed. Fortunately, her most recent owner recognized that Kieko deserved stability and made the thoughtful decision to surrender her to a local shelter only two weeks after bringing her home. Knowing Kieko needed a permanent, supportive placement, shelter staff reached out to MAGSR for help. We knew this adorable little lady would thrive in rescue, and thanks to an incredible foster family stepping forward, Kieko officially joined the MAGSR family.

In many ways, Kieko is your typical young German Shepherd puppy—curious, energetic, and eager to explore the world around her. She has previously lived with other dogs and cats; however, her prey drive is a bit too strong for feline friends, so a cat-free home will be best for her moving forward. While we don’t know much about her early history, it’s clear that someone invested time in giving Kieko a solid socialization foundation. She enjoys people and happily cuddles up for affection.

Because of the many changes she has experienced early in life, Kieko will need time to adjust and settle into her forever home. With patience, consistency, and continued training, she will absolutely thrive. Kieko already walks well on leash and knows several basic cues, including sit, stay, paw, and down. Like many puppies, she’s still learning appropriate manners and can be a bit enthusiastic, especially when it comes to keeping all four paws on the floor. This is a normal puppy behavior that will improve with clear expectations, structure, and training. Overall, Kieko is a joyful, affectionate puppy who loves to run, play, and soak up attention from her people.

While Kieko is beyond delightful, it’s important to remember that she is still a puppy. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and bring plenty of playful chaos along with them. Structure, routine, training, and continued socialization will be the keys to Kieko’s long-term success. Hannah has known love her whole life. Since she was a puppy, she lived in a devoted home where she was absolutely adored by her dad. Understanding how important socialization is, he made sure Hannah had plenty of positive experiences meeting new people — and it shows! Hannah is a true social butterfly who happily wins over every friendly face she meets. Sadly, life took an unexpected turn. When her dad developed a serious health condition, he made the heartbreaking but selfless decision to rehome Hannah so she could continue to receive the care and life she deserves. Wanting the very best for her, he reached out to MAGSR, knowing a breed-specific rescue would help set her up for success. Our team immediately recognized how special she is and welcomed her with open arms.

Hannah is a young, intelligent, and attentive girl with a wonderful head on her shoulders. She reads her handler’s cues beautifully and is eager to respond. Having been exposed to other dogs throughout her life, she understands many canine social signals. That said, she does best with slow and proper introductions to ensure positive, successful interactions. While in our care, she’s been working regularly with handlers to continue building those skills.

Thanks to her home experience, Hannah already knows the ins and outs of indoor living. She is housebroken and crate trained. As with any new dog, she will need time, patience, and understanding as she settles into her forever home. Clear structure, consistent routines, and defined expectations will help her thrive during the transition. Hannah would also greatly benefit from continued training. Not only will this help fine-tune her manners, but it will also build a strong, lasting bond with her forever family.

Kahless spent his entire life with one family, growing up in a lively home filled with a large pack of dogs and a constant stream of at least six kids. He truly adored his family and thrived in the busy environment, showing a gentle and patient nature with all the children around him. When things got a little too chaotic, Kahless showed his thoughtful side—quietly stepping away to relax in a calm space when he needed a break. Known as the peacemaker of the pack, Kahless got along beautifully with everyone and brought a steady, grounding presence to the home. He was the kind of dog who helped keep the balance. His family loved him deeply, but with so much activity and responsibility in the home, they realized they couldn’t give Kahless the one-on-one attention he deserved. In a truly selfless decision, they chose to seek rescue placement so he could have the opportunity to thrive in a home of his own.

Kahless is a curious and thoughtful boy who has experienced a lot of change in a short time. As a result, he may need a little time to adjust to new people and surroundings. But once he feels comfortable, his wonderful personality begins to shine through. Kahless has been making great progress with leash walking and is continuing to build his basic skills. And with treats involved? Kahless is more than happy to learn! He’s a smart pup who will benefit greatly from continued training, structure, and clear expectations. This will not only help him settle into his forever home but also allow him to grow into a confident and well-rounded companion.

Not every dog gets to spend their life curled up on a couch, showered with affection, and surrounded by family. Ivy’s story is a reminder of just how resilient dogs can be — even when life hasn't always been as kind as you may hope.

Though Ivy has known human kindness, she has never known the comfort of a true home until now. She came to MAGSR having never lived in a home, yet her soulful eyes and calm presence speak of a dog who still believes in love. Physically, Ivy carries the weight of a life spent giving more than she received. Her body shows signs of many litters, untreated medical conditions, and severe arthritis. When her pain became too much to ignore, a decision was made to give Ivy the care she so desperately needed — and she joined the MAGSR family.

One of our amazing senior foster families immediately stepped up, giving Ivy her very first taste of home: a comfortable household, soft beds, quiet spaces, and unconditional love. Despite her past, Ivy is gentle, affectionate, and slowly learning the joys of being a beloved companion. She enjoys short walks, tasty treats, and has recently discovered the magic of dog beds.

But Ivy's journey is far from over. Upon arrival, she was diagnosed with:

• Severe arthritis in her front left leg, causing her significant pain and lameness
• A skin infection requiring treatment before other procedures could take place
• Ulcerated tumors and masses on her chest and belly
• Underweight frame, which needed to be addressed before surgery could commence

This week, Ivy bravely underwent a complicated hysterectomy, had several masses removed, and began treatment to address her discomfort. Radiographs of her joins and chest were taken to determine the extent of her needs. Consultations with specialists also took place. At this time biopsy results are pending, and more invasive care may be needed. Despite everything, Ivy remains calm, loving, and endlessly patient — a true testament to her spirit. She is wearing her surgical pajamas like a champ, is adjusting to the cone and pro collar, and has been very patient when going through daily clean up and care. Ivy isn’t available for adoption just yet, but she will be — once she’s strong, healthy, and ready for the next chapter of her life.

Paul’s story began with heartbreak, but it’s quickly turning into one of hope, resilience, and love. As one of five siblings, Paul was raised outdoors by a devoted mama who kept her babies safe and cared for. Tragically, during a severe storm, their mother was swept away and lost. Thanks to a kind-hearted Good Samaritan, Paul and his siblings were rescued just in time and brought to safety. While three of his siblings have already found their forever homes, Paul and his brother George are still waiting for theirs. Now thriving in a loving foster home, Paul is ready to start his next chapter—with you.

Paul is an absolute sweetheart with a big personality to match his growing size. He’s social, intelligent, and already showing what a wonderful companion he’ll become. Having lived with other dogs, Paul understands the rhythm of a pack and gets along beautifully with his foster siblings—especially his foster brother, whom he happily follows around like a shadow. This charming pup is already housebroken and crate trained, giving him a great head start for his forever family. He loves toys, outdoor playtime, and learning new things. Paul is affectionate, playful, and eager to please—making him a joy to have around.
