Gypsy is a young and intelligent girl. Like most shepherds, she needs a little time to warm up to people outside of her family; however, when provided with the opportunity to adjust, Gypsy will begin to interact with new people. As is also true of most shepherds, Gypsy thrives with leadership and a confident handler. Having lived in a household, Gypsy is housebroken and understands many of the basic rules of living in a home. As an active girl, Gypsy will benefit from daily exercise of both her mind and body. She loves long walks and enjoys exploring the outdoors. If Gypsy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet her today.

Obedience Trained: No

DESCRIPTION:

Yuki's family loved her dearly; however, due to some unforeseen circumstances, they found themselves unable to provide her with the attention and care she deserves. As a result, Yuki's family made the difficult decision to surrender her to MAGSR. We have promised Yuki's family that we will find her a safe and loving household.

Yuki is a lovely and energetic shepherd. As is common with most shepherds, Yuki thrives with structure and leadership. When these circumstances are not present, she can become nervous and anxious. Although Yuki has lived with other dogs, cats, and children, she does need time to warm up to new people and animals. When given this opportunity, Yuki meets with success. Yuki is looking for a forever family that will help her move forward. If she sounds like a good match for your household, ask to meet Yuki today.

Updates:

Yuki has been with her foster for 2 weeks and is settling in well. She is starting to show her fun loving personality and can we just say: SQUEAKY BALL! She is in love with squeaky balls and would love to play fetch with her person for as long as possible. She absolutely loves getting her chest scratched and will pull your hand right to her chest with her paw. Need a reminder not to sit at the computer for long periods? No problem. She has a built in clock that says one hour at a time only please. Her itchiness is doing better and her coat is looking more glossy with regular groceries and fish oil. She is still nervous around other people and dogs and needs very gentle introductions. We are working on leash manners and she knows she is supposed to do something different, but is still very focused on watching out for trouble. After barking and letting workmen know that they were entering restricted territory and then getting introduced, she had no problem letting them come in and work on my house. Yuki has a possible diagnosis of EPI -- a pancreatic insufficiency common in GSDs, and may need lifelong enzyme additives in her food. It doesn't bother her but may be adding to her tendency to being underweight and itchy.

Yuki has had a very happy new year! For the first time, she had happy zoomies after a walk (for those of you who haven't seen those, that is when the dog is so full of fun that their brains turn off, ears go back, and the dog zooms around the available space with a wide smile and frequent play bows until the need for water slows them down). She didn't have any problems with the fireworks, which was a nice surprise. She also slept through the neighbor's loud music. It was nice to see her relaxed. She really is a sweetheart who just wants to be near her person in a generally quiet environment and get the ball thrown for her. She would rather play ball then go on a walk! She is housebroken and prefers to do her business in the backyard rather than on walks.

She is crate trained but we are seeing some separation anxiety behaviors.  She would benefit from some work with that. She is eager to please and be a part of your life. She is very ball motivated and that is fun to use during training. She knows (in a distraction free environment) sit, down, up, off, come, leave it, bring it, go potty, over, in the car, and where's the ball. She is getting better at stay, but still wants you to stay in sight in return.

Yuki has EPI which requires over-the-counter enzymes and regular, store bought food (high calorie, lower fat, and low fiber). The enzymes we have were around $77 for what is probably going to be a 20 day supply. So her "special" food need comes to about $100 per month and she gets Monthly B-12 shots.   Yuki is a special dog that needs a special home that will love her and keep up her special diet and shots.  Could you be that person that gives her the care and love she so deserves?

Casper

ADOPTED 01/23/2021!

Casper
CasperCasper
Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Approximate Age: 5 years 9 months
Color: White
Current Size: 80 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 90 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: No
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Unknown
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Casper was found as a stray in a big, busy city. Fortunately, he was brought to a shelter where he waited for his family to claim him. When no one came to claim this big guy, staff members sent out a plea asking for rescues to step up and help Casper find the loving forever home he deserves.

Casper is a big friendly guy. He hasn't yet to meet an adult or a child that he hasn't liked. As a young dog, Casper has a lot of energy and would be happy to play for hours every day. He is a particularly big fan of the ball. As is true of all GSDs, Casper will thrive in a household where he has guidance, leadership and consistency. Training will go a long way with this big guy as it will help him not only bond to his new family but it will also help him develop into the good canine citizen that he is destined to be. We are still getting to know Casper. As we know more, we will provide updates here. If Casper sounds like a good match for your family, ask to meet him today!

Zeena

ADOPTED 01/17/2021!

Zeena
ZenaZenaZenaZenaZena
Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Approximate Age: 13 years 10 months
Color: Black
Current Size: 60 lbs
Ideal/Potential Size: 60 lbs
Housebroken: Yes
Obedience Trained: Unknown
Altered: Yes

Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes
Other Dogs OK: Yes
DESCRIPTION:

Sweet Zeena's family loved her dearly. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, they were no longer able to care for her. As a result, they made the difficult decision to surrender her. Although this was not an easy decision, it was done in Zeena's best interest.

Zeena is a gentle a loving dog. She has been raised with cats and dogs of various sizes and done well. Having previously lived in a household, Zeena understands many of the household rules already but will likely need a refresher on the specific rules of her new household. Zeena is looking for a forever family that will provide for her throughout her golden years. If Zeena sounds like a match for your family, please ask to meet her today.

Updates:

Zeena is settling in the rhythms of her foster home. She already has many qualities of a trained, balanced dog. First off, she is housebroken and crate-trained.  She goes right into a sit to wait for instructions, permissions, food, etc.   She looks forward to her walks and heals beautifully—except if a feral cat looks too interesting!  She doesn’t jump up (including on furniture), doesn’t counter surf (or she hasn’t seen the opportunity ), no door dashing, and rarely barks. She seems to enjoy attention but doesn’t get “in your face”.
Zeena is recovering nicely from her ear infections and skin allergies. Her soft coat and clear eyes invite kisses and hugs that she tolerates well with maybe even a little kiss in return.
Though she is new to us, she has remained calm despite the holiday craziness, and welcomed whoever she met.
