Date of Death:
Friends of ours, friend of animals and friends of Scout, I am so sad to share with you that Scout crossed over the rainbow bridge on Sunday held closely by his mom and me. We miss him so much. He was the best dog and the worst dog we have ever had, but mostly the best. He almost never stole food from the table, but he loved his groceries. He was supremely tolerant of his cousin Papi and his cat brothers Charlie and Boomer. He is preceded in death by Riley and Cody and his cat brother Ivan.
He was only the worst dog if you were a dog that threatened him, in some manner not observable by humans. He put a few holes in other dogs before we really got our guard up! Having been rescued from a shelter in Greenville, Tennessee with several unexplained scars and a ripped tip of his ear we came to understand his instinct to protect himself. Despite these challenges he was a calm, sweet and gentle boy with people and the family’s dogs.
He loved boating. His favorite place to ride was on the little whaler, right up on the bow, keeping a watch on everything. His favorite activity was fence chasing with our neighbor’s dog. He enjoyed the outdoors in all sorts of weather, often requiring coaxing to come into the house.
He will continue to be part of our family and we are grateful for the time he spent with us.
