One of the largest puppy mill busts found hundreds of German Shepherd's living in absolute filth and in horrendous condition. Ankle deep mud and feces mixed with urine, no adequate shelter, lacking food and clean water is how these dogs were left to live, many for years. The urgent call was made and MAGSR knew we had to take in as many as possible. We now have 38 dogs that have a multitude of medical needs that we are addressing, and they need to learn to trust humans. All dogs are scared, some are shut down, but our volunteers and vets will get them on their road to recovery. It will be awhile before these dogs are ready for adoption, so please be patient and watch for updates.
An undertaking of this size for an all-volunteer rescue is quite a task, but one we are meeting it head on. Many of the dogs require medical boarding so that they can receive the best possible care. We are committed to providing everything they need, not only medically, but emotionally. Our medical costs are going to be at an amount we have never seen before. We need your help, the dogs need your help. Please donate , your donation will go towards their ongoing care, medical needs, emotional needs and help them on their road to recovery and a brighter future.

Maya came to us an owner surrender as her person is going through a difficult time. She is much loved so her mom wanted the best for her. Maya lived with another female GSD. Maya is a young energetic girl who will require someone able to keep up with her energy. She also requires training to learn some manners and leash skills. She is strong and can easily pull someone down without being handled properly. We’ve been told she is good with children, but does have to be monitored due not knowing her size.

Hayley at 9 weeks old was found as a stray and taken to a shelter. It is so unimaginable that anyone could allow a 9 week old puppy to become a stray and not come looking for her. She is a confident, happy, playful and loving girl, and such a cutie. Life with a puppy involves a lot of work, cleaning up accidents, night time potty walks, stopping her from chewing everything she can get in her mouth, lots of guidance, structure and training. Please be absolutely certain that you have the time, energy and ability to commit to Hayley for her lifetime.

Bailey was surrendered as her family had no time for her and it shows in her lack training and manners. She is such a beautiful, friendly girl that just needs a family to teach her good canine manners. A good training program will teach her jumping up is not acceptable and will also help with her leash skills. Given the opportunity, Bailey will crawl up into her human's lap for loving - she's very sweet. Bailey has some energy to burn that ong walks and a good a game of fetch will help with. Exercising both the body and brain will be very beneficial for her.

Jasper was dumped by his former owner on a country road and picked up by animal control. When our volunteer picked him up from the shelter it was obvious he was not feeling well and not in great shape. He immediately went into medical boarding at one of our vets offices, where he received the best care. He had a severe respiratory and ear infection, hair loss with a skin infection and was not eating. All needed tests were performed and treatment was started. As time went on he was still not wanting to eat, radiographs were taken and it was found he had foreign objects in him. He was immediately taken to surgery where a number of assorted items were removed from his stomach.
After spending 3 weeks in medical boarding Jasper was able to go home with his foster. He is now on the mend, starting to eat on his own and finally wagging his tail some. He still needs to put on some more weight but his foster will be sure he never misses a much needed meal.
Through all of this he has been nothing but sweet and friendly. Jasper is now looking for his forever family, one that will treat him with care and love him for his lifetime. He is ready to leave his past behind and looks forward to a future of living in a home, proper nutrition, walks, playtime and lots of cuddles from his humans.

Regis was surrendered to a shelter as his family moved and could not take him with them. He is new to us so we are still getting to know him. He does best with female dogs and prefers them over male dogs. He loves belly rubs, rolling over on his back for a good scratching. Regis will benefit greatly from obedience training, learning good manners and what is expected of him.

Geist is a male German Shepherd mix with a beautiful white coat. He is new to the rescue, but a super sweet guy. Geist is lovely with the female dogs, but not so great with male dogs. He's simply a nice fella that prefers the ladies to himself. Geist is good with humans and loving. Like all of our dogs, Geist will benefit from standard obedience work to help him be the best gentleman he can be.

Augustus was found as a stray hanging out on a person's property. Attempts were made to find his family, but no one came for him. He is a friendly young boy and rides well in the vehicle. He of course is in need of training and manners, a structured home, and a loving and caring family.

Tank was taken to the vet to be euthanized because he helped himself to some livestock. Thankfully the vet would not kill such a young and friendly boy, instead she contacted us. Tank is good with other dogs, but will not do well with livestock, chickens or goats especially. Of course he requires training to teach good K9 manners and to learn to work with his new family. Time is needed by his family to help him settle in, learn the rules and to adjust to a new schedule. Tank has had his stomach tacked, this greatly reduces his chances of bloat. He will require daily exercise, walks, lots of love and attention for the rest of his life. He rides well in the vehicle, he enjoys looking out the window and getting a few head rubs. Please be certain you have what it takes for an energetic GSD and are committed for his lifetime.

Riptide was originally adopted from a shelter, where he then went on to live his life on a chain with not enough food and no shelter. This is why it is so important that anyone wanting to adopt a dog is checked out by shelters and rescues. Riptide was promised a better a life when the shelter adopted him but that is not what he received. That is all changed now that he is with MAGSR, we will make sure he finds a loving and caring family, that can provide him a home, a comfy bed, good nutrition and care. Riptide's name is very fitting, he is a high energy boy that is not sure what to do with new found freedom from the chain. He will need training and structure, along with lots of exercise.

Big, handsome Mack is a strong boy. He needs to learn leash manners, as a dog of his size can be difficult to handle on a leash. Mack is such a sweet boy. He has been very friendly with our volunteers. He really seems to enjoy going for drives, as when he sees a vehicle door open he wants to jump in. Mack did spend part of his life tied up on a chain, so he probably needs to learn house manners. While at the shelter he did participate in play groups with other dogs.

Cruz was surrendered as his former family didn’t realize how much time a young, energetic GSD requires. Cruz lived with children and another dog in his prior home. He does need training, this will help Cruz understand what is expected of him, teach good manners and build a bond with his new family. Please be sure you understand that Cruz will require walks, playtime, exercise, lots of love and attention for his lifetime.

Lieve, along with her siblings Liam and Luc lived outside without proper care or an adequate amount of food for growing puppies. Thankfully they were brought to our attention and brought into our care. They were underweight, but with proper nutrition they have gained weight. The pups are a mix of Dutch Shepherd (dad) and Belgian Malinois (mom). Both of these breeds are very high energy dogs that require a lot of exercise of both their bodies and minds, along with obedience training, ongoing socialization and direction. It is imperative that you have the time, everyday, to work with them on their training and can meet their exercise needs. We will only consider adopters that have prior experience with working line dogs. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment.

Chiquita was surrendered to a shelter due to her former person moving. She is a friendly young girl, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is attentive to her family. She needs to gain some weight, but otherwise looks good. Training of course is required, not only for Chiquita but also for her family.

Chloe came to us a surrender as her former owner did not like that she jumped up on her. This of course can be controlled with training and correcting this at the time. She lived in her prior home with other GSD’s and did well. She has not been around children or cats, so we do not know how she does with them. Chloe is a beautiful coated GSD, with the cutest ears. She has been friendly with our volunteers, but unsettled with the changes in her life. She did undergo a 3 week board and train, but her former owner did not attend training with her. Training is just as much about training the owner as it is the dog. You must learn to work together and create a bond.

Johnny came to us from a shelter, we have no history for him. Since arriving in our care, he has been a complete gentleman. A little unsure with his new surroundings at first, but has quickly settled in. Johnny is a kind gentle soul and is very gentle with his handler. He enjoys belly rubs, being with his people, staying by his human's side, and will look to his handler for guidance. Johnny is a wonderful boy and anyone would be lucky to have him.
