Sherlock
ADOPTED 07/18/2016!
Good With Kids: Older kids only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Sherlock initially came to MAGSR, due to his owner’s health, from a home with other Shepherds and got along well with them. Over the last 18 months, Sherlock has been in a home without other dogs and has not interacted with other dogs, so it is unknown if he is still good with other dogs. Sherlock has a high prey drive and will chase rabbits and squirrels. Sherlock is friendly with the humans that he meets and is very active with a ton of energy, much more than expected for his age. Sherlock enjoys playing catch and swimming. Sherlock needs training, a strong handler (he’s a strong boy), and a strict regimen.
Over the last several months, MAGSR has treated Sherlock for a perianal fistula, of which treatment is coming to a close. Also, over the last several months, Sherlock has been receiving weekly laser treatments on his hips for severe arthritis. His arthritis has not slowed this boy down at all, but the laser treatments have helped him to be more comfortable so he can continue to play. Continuing future laser treatments, while they may be bi-weekly or only monthly, will be key in providing Sherlock continued relief from his arthritis and comfort going forward.
Sherlock is waiting to meet his fur-ever family that will commit to his needs for his lifetime. Please set up an appointment to meet Sherlock if he sounds like a good match for your family.

Donovan along with his BFF Mac are looking for a new family and home. They are hoping that a family has room and enough love for both of them as they are very bonded. They are both very nice boys but somewhat confused as to why they are with us and not with their family. They lived with cats and got along fine. Do you have enough room in your hearts and home for Mac & Donovan.....if so ask to meet this great pair.

Bailey
ADOPTED 07/17/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Bailey came to us from shelter where she had been surrendered due to a family members allergies. It was reported that she lived with children and gets along with other dogs. She is housebroken and crate trained. While she does enjoy being petted and loved on, she prefers that you do not touch her feet. She is a sweet, loving and energetic girl who would love to be in a home with her forever family.
Max
ADOPTED 07/16/2016!
Good With Kids: Older kids only
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Max is a handsome boy who is very intelligent but it is evident he was not treated well in his previous situation. He is very shy and lacks confidence but has shown that he is very friendly with other dogs and they help him gain confidence. He is great with dogs of all sizes and he is even good with cats. He is shy especially with men but warms up slowly. He would do best in a home with older children as younger children's unpredictable movements startled him. Max is house broken and crate trained. Training will go a long way to benefit Max and help him build the bond with his people and gain confidence he lacks. He is a very sweet boy looking for someone to show him that not all people are bad. Once he bonds with you, he will be your forever best friend. Could Max be the dog for you?
Updates:Max has since been through a board and train program with Applejack K9 and attends weekly group classes in which he does very well. He excels in training and continues to learn new things each week. He will continue to go to lessons at Applejack K9 until he graduates. His obedience training the rescue paid for will be extended to whoever adopts him, which is an excellent perk of adopting Max. Max is obedience trained and knows sit, stay, down, come, heel, drop and crate. He has built up his confidence and is looking for a leader to show him that they are in control of the situation. He responds well to a strong handler and wants to please his person. He wants to be wherever his foster is and follows her like a shadow. He loves belly rubs, marrow bones, squeaky toys and cheese. His favorite past time is playing fetch and he will retrieve the ball and drop it right in front of your feet....so long as you have another ball ready to go for him to chase. He is a patient dog and doesn't mind just hanging out but absolutely loves to go on car rides. Max enjoys the comfort of his crate and will go in there on his own to sleep or just hang out. He would do best in a household without a lot of excitement since he feels the need to keep tabs on everyone all the time. Max tends to be protective which is a good quality, however, he needs to know when it is appropriate and when it is not which he is learning in his foster home. He continues to make his foster mom laugh daily at his antics and is a very affectionate and loyal dog who longs for a person or people to call his own. Ask to meet Max!
Mika
ADOPTED 07/08/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Mika was surrendered to an emergency vet when it was discovered that he had come down with Parvo, a highly contagious viral disease and potentially life threatening. Parvo is an expensive virus that can be avoided if properly vaccinated. Mika is fighting for his life and currently receiving 24/7 medical care at an emergency vet where he will receive the best possible care. Should Mika survive this difficult virus, he will be able to move on and enjoy being a puppy. As is true of all puppies, Mika is cute and cuddly; he will require a lot of attention, time, and patience from his new family. He has a lot to learn and will need leadership and guidance in order to become a good canine citizen. He will get into things, chew on inappropriate things, have accidents, whine, and want lots of attention and love. Mika will need proper food and vet care for the rest of his life. In return, he will smother you in puppy kisses and cuddles while entertaining you with his puppy antics. If interested in Mika, please be sure you have the time and patience to raise a puppy and commit to him for his entire life.
Thank you to all the generous donors who helped us save Mika's life. Your help is still needed by more deserving dogs.
Dino
ADOPTED 07/03/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Dino was surrendered as he was not adapting well to his family's new busy schedule. He lived with children and gets along well with other dogs. He has never been exposed to cats. According to his former family he is crate trained and housebroken. They feel he would do best in a home where his family is not gone for extended periods of time as he can become anxious when left home alone for too long. Dino is a very nice boy who loves to be with his people.

Olga
ADOPTED 06/29/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Olga was living her life in a yard with no shelter, food or water. The day she was confiscated it was 27 degrees, her body temperature was low and she was very emaciated weighing only 37 lbs. The shelter workers took very good care of her while she waited to make her way into rescue. Olga now weighs 55 lbs and could use just a few more lbs. So far what we have learned about her is that she is friendly and seems quite happy. She is ready to start her life anew...could that be with your family?
Updates:Olga is adjusting well in her foster home and loves having a little companionship. Olga is living with both a resident female GSD mix and 3 cats and is doing just great. Her fosters say that she's adjusting far better then they thought and her leash discipline has improved greatly already. Olga seems to be enjoying her time outside the kennel and has been nothing but a positive ball of energy. Ask to meet sweet Olga.

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?

Reuger
ADOPTED 06/05/2016!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 16
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Reuger is a young, handsome boy who has been through basic obedience training. It is imperative that he continues training with his new family. Reuger is not good with small dogs and will not be placed in a home with small dogs. In his previous home he had escaped the home through an opened door and an electric fence going after small dogs in the neighborhood. He did live with a cat, getting along fine as long as the cat did not run around. He also lived with a female GSD and was fine with her. Reuger does play rough with other dogs, so another dog in the home must be playful and accepting of rough housing. Reuger also has the tendency to get mouthy with people when he is overly excited. Training, structure and direction can help with these behaviors. Reuger will do best with experienced GSD people, who have the time and knowledge to work with him.

Haylee
ADOPTED 05/24/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Haylee is a beautiful dog with a very friendly personality. Once she gets to know you, she will cover you with kisses (aka licks). She is happy both running around, acting goofy and relaxing. She is wonderful with children. She was raised with an Australian shepherd so she would be ok living with one other dog. She likes her chew toys too. Unfortunately, this beautiful girl was diagnosed with Addison's Disease in November. Prednisone and steroid injections have so far helped to successfully keep her healthy. She may need to continue to work on being a good walker and being socialized with other dogs.
Tank
ADOPTED 05/21/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Tank is a sweet, affectionate and energetic boy, with all puppy in his mannerisms, who is looking for a home that can provide him with the love, training, and daily exercise a young dog needs. Already housebroken and working on a few commands with his foster mom, Tank' is already on his way to becoming a good canine citizen. However, he will need patience, guidance, and leadership in order to reach his full potential. Tank gets along well with dogs, cats and kids. Although Tank is in many ways a work in progress, we know he will be a great addition to the right family. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ~10-12 year commitment. With time, patience, guidance and training, Tank will become even more of an amazing boy than he already is. Please inquire if Tank sounds like a good match for your family.
Updates:Tank has been in his foster home for a week now and has made himself at home very quickly. He loves to be where ever his Foster Mama is, belly rubs, and shoes! Tank is a bit skittish of new, noisy, and busy environments. He takes a little bit of time to warm up to those surroundings. He's very affectionate, and loves to lay around. Tank needs some work with walking on a leash, jumping into cars, and some minor obedience training. He is fully crate trained, and house trained. He knows sit & come, but can be stubborn sometimes. Ask to meet Tank today!

Glacier is a sweet and energetic boy who made his way to MAGSR because his owner could no longer care for him. Glacier is looking for a home that can provide him with the love, training, and daily exercise he needs. Please inquire if Glacier sounds like a good match for your family.
Sasha
ADOPTED 05/17/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Beautiful Sasha is looking for a new family and home, one without small animals. In her last home there were chickens and rabbits which was not a good match. Sasha is quite confused at this time, unsure how she went from having a home and family to now being in rescue. In her previous home she did live with children. Sasha would benefit greatly from being back in a home with a family.
Updates:Sasha moved into a foster home about a week ago as it became clear that she was in need of a little extra support adjusting to the loss of her previous home. Although cuddly and affectionate once comfortable, Sasha is somewhat fearful when introduced to new people particularly, if they crowd her or approach too quickly. Due to her lack of socialization, Sasha will require a family that will allow her to slowly integrate into her new home. Guidance, leadership, and training will help Sasha develop into the confident canine citizen we know she can be.
Already crate trained, house broken, and knowing a few commands, Sasha knows how to behave in the household and loves to shadow her people. Amazingly well behaved in the car, Sasha is more than happy to be a traveling companion. She also enjoys toys, long walks, and a comfortable place to snooze - especially if she can keep an eye on her people at the same time. Although Sasha previously lived with a large male dog, she needs time and patience when being introduced to new dogs. Currently living with both a male and female shepherd, Sasha enjoys pack walks with her new housemates. If Sasha sounds like a good match for your family, please ask to meet her today.
Wyatt
ADOPTED 05/16/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Can you imagine after being with your person for 13 years and they suddenly disappear? Wyatt has come back to MAGSR at the mature age of 13 as sadly his owner was in a tragic accident leaving him unable to care for Wyatt. Wyatt is an extremely loyal dog that was dearly loved and this poor boy must be super confused as to where his dad is.
Wyatt is a laid back senior boy that enjoys the companionship of his person. He is house broken and crate trained although a crate is certainly not required for this regal boy. His favorite past time is sunning himself outside on a warm day! He is super friendly and excellent with people including children 10 and above. He doesn't get on beds or furniture and isn't a chewer. While needing a short stent in foster a few years ago he slept quietly all night on his dog bed in my 9 year old's bedroom. He would quietly go to bed in the evenings and you wouldn't hear a peep till 10 to 12 hours later when he needed to go potty. He is older now and sleeps quite a bit and although he is a bit slower he still enjoys a short stroll.
In his younger years he was courteous to other dogs in the home while on leash. Off leash he would test the water for alpha position. Since he was fostered in a home with more than one alpha so it was safer for all to keep him on leash. As he is matured and much slower likely his drive for alpha position has lessened as he is much happier sleeping and being close to his person. He is cat friendly and super easy going.
Wyatt is on daily medication and supplements to keep him comfortable, which is bringing him some much needed relief. Please find it in your heart to give this sweet boy a loving home to lay his head for his remaining time. He will be so grateful for your love and attention. He bonds quickly to those providing love and care and will be forever grateful for your love.
Updates:Wyatt is a sweet older gentleman who has clearly been very affected by everything that has gone on recently. He is just starting to come around and show interest in his foster parents. Wyatt has had some difficulty getting around, but his foster parents are walking him in the neighborhood, and he has wanted to go further than he has been allowed so far, but with each day, the distance is increasing. Wyatt eats well and takes his meds easily. Wyatt is starting to show some sign of happiness and playfulness. If Wyatt sounds like a senior guy for you, please ask to meet him.
Willoughby
ADOPTED 05/15/2016!
Good With Kids: Yes
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Willoughby is a male German Shepherd mix who is approx. 10 months old. He is a submissive male who gets along with everybody. Willoughby has an easy-going personality and is not a difficult dog at all. This super sweet doll baby would be a perfect family dog and would enjoy being part of any family activity. Willoughby has so much love to give and just wants a home of his own.
Updates:Willoughby has been in his foster home now for almost 2 weeks and is settling in nicely. His foster parents like to call him "Willow" and report that he has proven to be a polite & very well-behaved house guest. He loves his toys - especially his stuffed 'babies!' He is fully housebroken, calm, great on the leash & he rides quietly in the car. Willow has played with both female resident dogs & has done great. He also play-bows with the other resident dog (a male Malinois) through the crate door. Willow is learning basic obedience commands with his foster parents and he takes treats very gently - he is affectionate and is such a good dog, Ask to meet Willoughby today.
Willow has been in his foster home for about a month. He is gaining confidence and plays with all 3 resident dogs - including an alpha male Malinois. He loves his toys: balls, bones & especially his stuffed hedgehog! Willow rarely barks unless he is playing or wants attention. He does exhibit some prey drive towards wildlife. He would fit in well in an active household & probably would do very well if he had some canine playmates! If Willoughby sounds like a good match for your family, please ask to meet him.

Bowden
ADOPTED 05/13/2016!
Good With Kids: Older kids, over 10
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Bowden is a very a exuberant boy. He's all puppy and exhibits all the normal puppy behaviors. Bowden is an intelligent boy that would benefit and excel in a training class. Training is a must for all our dogs and we have been working with Bowden on his basic commands. Bowden LOVES toys, enjoys long walks and does very well on car rides. He is a very active and a bit high energy. Bowden will be attending events. Watch our website for a opportunity to meet this happy boy.
Updates:Bowden is fairly social with strangers and can be okay with other dogs with proper leash management. However, he does not need the presence of another dog and would thrive as an only dog. While Bowden does like toys, he tends to claim them and does not easily give them up. As training is required, Bowden's adopters should begin training soon after adopting to help lay the groundwork for a healthy foundation. He is treat motivated and rides well in the vehicle. From what we have seen, he does not like cold weather, rain, snow or wind and he would rather be inside where it's comfy rather than outside exploring.
Hobart
ADOPTED 05/11/2016!
Good With Kids: No
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.
Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
This is Hobart. We can't say enough good things about this little guy. Hobart is a kennel favorite. He is so cute with a friendly disposition. Hobart will fit into any family. He is just happy being among our volunteers and smiles at everyone that passes by. His coloring is beautiful and his picture don't do him justice. If you would like to meet this sweet boy please inquire today you won't be disappointed.
Updates:Hobart is unsure of new people at first and the best way to get to know him is to ignore him and let him approach you. Patience is key here. He's not a dog that will openly greet strangers as they concern him. However, when he becomes comfortable occupying the same space, then he begins to relax. Once he gets to know you, he's actually a pretty cool guy! He walks nicely on leash, likes car rides and is treat motivated. He also likes to play fetch. Those of us who regularly see him at the kennel enjoy his company and vice-versa. When he sees his favorite people at the kennel, he eagerly waits for them to get him out of his kennel run. He has some prey drive and is quite stimulated by squirrels, various wildlife and the occasional passing car. Hobart can be okay in the presence of other calm dogs while under strict leash management. He is not one to engage in play with other dogs and he would thrive in a home as an only dog. He's his own man and is not a clingy dog. Hobart would do best in an adult home where there is not lot of new people coming and going. But if you have a home with a lot of consistency and are looking for a dog to take leisurely daily walks, they just might fit the bill.

ADOPTED 05/07/2016!
Good With Kids: Unknown
I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR but so many more dogs need their help.

Jonas was in a shelter and needed out of there so he could be treated for a heartworm infestation. Thankfully a wonderful group took him in for us and found him a temporary foster home while he underwent the treatment he needed. Jonas has now completed his treatment and is ready to start his new life. Understandably Jonas is confused and stressed with his move to us from his loving foster home. At this time we are giving him time to settle in.

Please meet Bama, short for Alabama. He was surrendered to us as his family was moving and could not take him with them.
Bama has a lot going for him. He's super friendly with people, is good with children, is crate trained and housebroken.
He's unknown for cats and has shown signs of exhibiting some prey drive toward small wildlife. We are currently working on his socialization with other dogs. Prior to coming to us, he was not given the opportunity to socialize with other dogs. So, this is all new to him and he is learning. Stay tuned for updates on this. We are also working on general overall obedience.
While Bama is an adult, he's an active dog and is not going to be a couch potato anytime soon. He likes car rides, working for treats and giving kisses.
We will update you on this happy-go-lucky boy as we learn more about him!

Garvey found himself in a shelter hoping someone would give him a second chance at life. He is now in our care waiting for a forever family and home. He is new to us but so far he has been pleasant with everyone he has met. He has lots to learn to be a good canine citizen, so training is a must. Ask to meet this sweet boy.

Rosie cannot be any cuter and is absolutely a sweet little girl, happy go lucky and confident and loves to give puppy kisses. Rosie comes to MAGSR from a home where she didn’t much like the resident cats, after being rescued and nursed back to health from an embedded collar. Rosie has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work, they need a lot of attention and a watchful eye – they can be a 12-14 year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Rosie will become even more of an amazing girl than she already is. Please inquire if Rosie sounds like a good match for your family.
