Success Stories
This is what we are all about.
When we place a dog in a great home, everyone in the rescue is elated. Nothing feels better than helping our dogs on their journey to find a forever home where they can love and be loved. We thank every one of our adoptive families for opening their hearts and homes to our dogs.

Loki is a farm dog. We adopted him on March 5, 2017.
He loves running, chasing butterflies, getting muddy, getting hosed off, running more, and rain or shine or snowstorm he always wants to be outside with me. I work out in a vineyard with 20 acres surrounded by 12 foot high deer fence. He has free reign to go wherever he wants.
Short description of the photos.
My wife Sarah and I on a hike up in PA. Loki carried his own food and water and had a blast!
Loki on an average summer day at work after taking a mud bath. He seems to think it is good for his skin because he does it every day, and if I hose him off he immediately goes and gets muddy again!
Loki runs everywhere. He also like trying to catch butterflies and can easily amuse himself scaring up bugs and leaping into the air trying to eat them.
Loki at the lake. Glamour shot!
We adopted Chauncey in July of this year. At the time, Bella (our other dog, a GSD/Mastiff mix) was just over a year old, and we felt like she needed a partner in crime. Chauncey has blended in with our family and friends seamlessly. He and Bella are the best of friends - they love going out and running around the yard together, and playing tug in the house.
Chauncey loves the kids, and has taken to sleeping in their rooms. Our younger son actually sleeps better with him in the room - he told us when has a bad dream, "I wake up and pat Chauncey, and it makes me feel better so I can go back to sleep."
We like having family and friends over, and he has charmed all of them. He loves a good tummy rub, and as it is getting colder he seems to enjoy lying next to the fire. He is an incredibly sweet soul, and his favorite thing aside from playing with his sister is snuggling with his people. Bella can be a bit bossy, and Chauncey is very tolerant of her whims - he knows when he can sneak in snuggles and treats of his own. He is really smart, and very easy to train. We cannot fathom that anyone would ever give him up, but we feel very lucky that he came into our lives. He has been a wonderful addition to our family, and we feel so lucky to be able to give him a forever home.
Thank you to MAGSR - you all were spot on in your recommendation, and it has been great to work with you all through the adoption!

Gus was adopted on August 2, 2018 by Bri and Will. He is best friends with his one year old pal, Sal. Gus and Sal love to wrestle and chase each other. Gus also loves the dog park and hiking! He is a loud pup and tells us everything we need to know. His favorite toy is his ball and he can catch and fetch for hours. He will give you all the kisses you want and then some. Gus is looking forward to Christmas, and even started celebrating by bringing his mom ornaments off of the tree.
Oti is settling in wonderfully! We think he might have been named Max at one point because he quickly responds to that name, he essentially named himself! He was not housebroken but is smart and quickly getting the idea! Oti(Max)has proven to be as bombproof as they come, a lovable ham that does not like to let us out of sight and comes when called. He is trying to win over grumpy Bella and absolutely loves to play, endlessly! Thank you for bringing him to our attention!! He definitely is what we were looking for and he seems to agree! Everyone in my family (aunts, uncles & cousins) have had nothing but praise for him and his beautiful temperament, he takes absolutely everything in stride
Andi (formally Lotus) was adopted December 9, 2017 and she’s been a spoiled princess ever since! She loves car rides and loves people! We try to take her everywhere we go and she loves every second of traveling, she even had her first vacation to the beach this summer! She is the sweetest pup and we are so thankful we were able to adopt a dog as goofy as her.
Jackie has settled in quite well in our house. She and Ellie (our other rescued GSD) get along very well, as you can see in the second pic. Jackie loves to snuggle with us on the sofa and watch movies. She and Ellie get to run and play in the yard every day and get special treats from their grandparents on holidays. They get a bark box every month with fun toys to keep them entertained and lots of yummy treats.
Lucy (Adopted 9-6-2017) – Lucy (or Lucille, or “Goose,” as we affectionately call her) is the perfect addition to our family! She adores her cat brother, Loki, and is very gentle with him. They love to take naps together and look out the front door together! Lucy is very confident now when going on walks, and loves to go multiple laps around the neighborhood. She also enjoys nature walks and short hikes with friends and family. Belly rubs are still her favorite! She likes to be silly and roll around in her dog bed and then lay on her back, waiting for some belly rubs. Lucy loves car rides! We like to take a “Thursday Night Car Ride” with her each week. Lucy is very intelligent, and has learned a few new tricks including “High-Five!” We love Lucy!!
Dutchess has fit into our home so well that it’s like she’s been here a long time! At first she wasn’t too keen on being hugged but will now come over and lay her head on you to let you know she wants a hug!
She plays well with our Chihuahua and a Shih Tzu mix. Taco the Chihuahua seems to feel she’s the same size as Duchess. Dutchess and Taco frequently play tug-of-war. She and shitzu Jingle are less fond of each other but do have fun running up and down the hill in the back yard, chasing squirrels and barking at birds.
Dutchess loves her toys. She can often be found carrying a squeaky toy in her mouth and squeezing it as she “kicks” a ball in front of her. She hates the Roomba and takes refuge in her bed!
Our two daughters 18 and 14 adore Dutchess and lavish attention upon her. My husband Chris has taken her to obedience training and she passed flying colors. In addition to obeying most of the time she can give paw, sit and stay. Since I’m home every day we have gotten to be pretty good pals as well. If I go to another part of the house it’s not long until she is looking for me.
She loves riding in the car and collecting puppy treats at the Dairy Queen, Starbucks and Chick-fil-A. We are very happy she is a part of our family
We have had so much fun getting to know Lolly these past two months!! She is such a sweet and silly girl! Although it didn’t take long for us to give her the nickname Lolly the Destroyer since most of her toys don’t even last a week!
She is very friendly with other people and dogs and VERY good with my niece and nephew (6 and one years old). Lolly is definitely a shadow dog and enjoys following my husband and me around, supervising to make sure we don’t get into too much trouble! She LOVE, LOVE, LOVES the ball and goes crazy when the Chuck-It comes out. Her baby pool arrived this week but we haven’t had a chance to use it since the weather has been so bad.
Lolly is halfway through her obedience training and is doing really well! She already knew a lot of commands and listens pretty well so we are concentrating on working her with distractions.
Most importantly, Lolly is doing really well with her EPI!! Our vet is very happy with her weight gain and has decreased her feedings down to two per day even though we are giving her the same amount of food.
My husband and I couldn’t be happier with her and feel very lucky to have her as a part of our family!! A HUGE thank you to MAGSR for helping us to find her!
Sincerely,
Robin and Wes Buck
Life would not be the same without our Frankie (formerly Gypsy). She is full of energy and goofiness, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Frankie has accumulated quite the list of nicknames, and she knows every single one: Frankie, Frankers, Frankie Bean, Bean, Jumping Bean, String Bean, and the list goes on.
Frankie has many favorite pastimes. She loves to jump, wrestle, and play with her three canine brothers (two Beagles and a Golden). She loves playing with her squeaky toys (Bark Box day is such a joy in our house). Frankie absolutely LOVES water— whether it’s in the tub for her bath time or for YOUR shower time, jumping/splashing in her wading pool, or running around in the pouring rain. She loves the water so much so that we’re planning on trying out dock dog jumping with her once her obedience classes are finished.
Frankie is also a world renowned stick collector— she has quite the collection of twigs in our yard, and she loves to show them off. If you’re lucky, she’ll share them with you. She is also a giant cuddle bug and loves her snuggle time with mom and dad. She also has the best wigglebutt— she wiggles so hard that her head, torso, and rear end up in three different time zones. It is quite the sight to see.
Frankie brings so much joy, laughter, and love to our household. She is the happiest dog that I have ever seen. She is a perfect fit, and we are so thankful for MAGSR for matching us with Frankie and entrusting her into our care. It was love at first sight for us when we met Frankie, and I believe in my heart that it was the exact same for her. We didn’t know what we were missing until Frankie came into our lives. Thank you!
With wiggles and puppy kisses,
Frankie, Brittany, and Mike Shaffer
Endy (formerly Daina) has settled in quite nicely to her new home (adopted May 2018).
Her favorite game is tug, followed closely by fetch, playing with the hose, squeaker toys, swimming, and catching bugs. She is very energetic and frequently gets the zoomies in the back yard. She loves playing with her cousins (our niece and nephew) and is great with them. Oh, and she loves naps on a pillow. Quite the princess, see photos attached.
She has completed obedience training and is lovely to walk on the leash now that we have gotten that all sorted out. She goes to doggy day care one or two times a week and has made friends there! Her EPI is well controlled and she has filled out and gained weight since we got her. She dreams of the day when we have a bigger home/yard and she gets to have a puppy sibling!
I could probably write a novel about all the wonderful things she does and her fun, goofy personality (and we haven’t even had her a full six months yet) but I will spare you all. Suffice to say, we love her probably too much (I can often be caught making up songs to sing to her about whatever silly thing she has been doing) and she has filled our home and hearts with so much joy and laughter.
I will include too many pictures but I just can’t pick a favorite.
Thank you all for everything you do for these wonderful dogs!
Lots of tail wags,
Katie, Megan, and Endy Thompson
It’s been just about a year since we adopted Zeus from MAGSR. He’s a Belgian Malinois, a breed affectionately nicknamed “Maligators” because they are quick with very powerful jaws. His favorite thing is hoarding balls and playing fetch. He also really loves to play tug and will even take clothes out of the laundry basket to entice someone to play. He has blossomed into a very different dog and has become very affectionate and playful. He loves going to Lowe’s with Dad, needs morning hugs and kisses, and rolls over for belly rubs. Zeus also likes to howl when he hears sirens and howls back and forth with our son. He now tries to play with the resident cats who are not so scared of him anymore, but is still bossed around by the resident Chihuahua with no teeth. Zeus has been an adventure and we look forward to many more years with him.
The past six months with Solomon have been an absolute blessing. Him and our female German Shepherd could not be a better match and are always together. Where one is, you will see the other. Solomon completed his beginner class through Dauntless and is currently half way through intermediate. He absolutely loves playing fetch, taking naps, chasing his sister female shepherd through the house, and laying with his person. He walks right in his crate and when we are in our room will just hang out in there.
Solomon is absolutely in love with our god children. When they come over he loves playing the game Tag with them. He is very gentle with them and will lay with them or run with them throughout the house.
He has been the perfect addition to the family. I am getting emotional typing this as I am thinking to myself “who really saved who?”
All the best-
Kate and Tyler Coburn
Hello!
Blue has settled into our home and family as if he has been with us from the start. He has a special bond with each of us, especially the kids. He LOVES to play fetch and will greet every visitor we have with a ball in his mouth to let them know he’d like to play.
He’s a big boy, currently weighing in at 105 lbs, a lot of that is due to the fact that he sits next to the kids and waits to catch their crumbs! He is such a gentle, kind soul and we love him beyond words.
He has helped all of our hearts heal after the loss of our sweet boy Murphy and are so happy we made the choice to adopt and got this sweet boy!
The Kinna Family
Mally Bear!!! Mally is doing good. She loves her momma, maybe a little too much , walks and cleaning dishes! When we got Mally the end of April she wanted nothing to do with my son or husband. It's been a long 4 months but well worth it! She is starting to play like a puppy, she likes my son and most days doesn't bark at my husband anymore (he gives her the dishes to clean). Hoping one day soon she'll accept the cats We are learning little secrets to help her trust them more and as the saying goes "slow and steady wins the race". We have the time...Mally is finally home
We just wanted to update you all on Nash, formerly Comanche. Nash was adopted one year ago this month and we couldn’t be happier having him in our lives. This summer he experienced 2 big changes and is adapting to both very well. In July we moved to PA to be closer to family and in August he received a baby sister named Faye! We look forward to watching their bond continue to grow :)
